A Control Valve is the most commonly used
final control element used to regulate fluid flow in
a process. In a process, normally it is the only
controllable element residing in the loop.
Ø This is a device used to modulate flow of
process fluid in pipe lines by creating a variable
area in the flow path.
Ø The flow path is varied with respect to the
control signal received from the controller
towards the required flow modulation.

Cascade control of superheated steam temperature with neuro PID controllerISA Interchange
In this paper, an improved cascade control methodology for superheated processes is developed, in which the primary PID controller is implemented by neural networks trained by minimizing error entropy criterion. The entropy of the tracking error can be estimated recursively by utilizing receding horizon window technique. The measurable disturbances in superheated processes are input to the neuro-PID controller besides the sequences of tracking error in outer loop control system, hence, feedback control is combined with feedforward control in the proposed neuro-PID controller. The convergent condition of the neural networks is analyzed. The implementation procedures of the proposed cascade control approach are summarized. Compared with the neuro-PID controller using minimizing squared error criterion, the proposed neuro-PID controller using minimizing error entropy criterion may decrease fluctuations of the superheated steam temperature. A simulation example shows the advantages of the proposed method.

Types of Controllers
Process control_ mechatronics engineering.
Control system is a combination of various elements connected as a unit to direct or regulate itself or any other system in order to provide a specific output is known as a Control system.
Components of a Control System
1.Controlled process: The part of the system which requires controlling is known as a controlled process.
2. Controller: The internal or external element of the system that controls the process is known as the controller.
3. Input: For every system to provide a specific result, some excitation signal must be provided. This signal is usually given through an external source. So, the externally provided signal for the desired operation is known as input.
TYPES OF DISTURBANCE:
1.an internal disturbance is generated within the system. 2.an external disturbance is generated outside the system and is an input.
Types of Control System:
1.Open loop control systems in this control system the
output is neither measured nor fed back for comparison
with the input.
2.Closed loop control systems in this control system the
actuating error signal, which is the difference between
the input signal and the feedback signal, is fed to the
controller so as to reduce the error and bring the output
of the system to a desired value.
PID
The PID control scheme is named after its three correcting terms, whose constitutes the manipulated variable (MV). The proportional, integral, and derivative terms are summed to calculate the output of the PID controller.

Hybrid optimization of pumped hydro system and solar- Engr. Abdul-Azeez.pdffxintegritypublishin
Advancements in technology unveil a myriad of electrical and electronic breakthroughs geared towards efficiently harnessing limited resources to meet human energy demands. The optimization of hybrid solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems plays a pivotal role in utilizing natural resources effectively. This initiative not only benefits humanity but also fosters environmental sustainability. The study investigated the design optimization of these hybrid systems, focusing on understanding solar radiation patterns, identifying geographical influences on solar radiation, formulating a mathematical model for system optimization, and determining the optimal configuration of PV panels and pumped hydro storage. Through a comparative analysis approach and eight weeks of data collection, the study addressed key research questions related to solar radiation patterns and optimal system design. The findings highlighted regions with heightened solar radiation levels, showcasing substantial potential for power generation and emphasizing the system's efficiency. Optimizing system design significantly boosted power generation, promoted renewable energy utilization, and enhanced energy storage capacity. The study underscored the benefits of optimizing hybrid solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems for sustainable energy usage. Optimizing the design of solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems as examined across diverse climatic conditions in a developing country, not only enhances power generation but also improves the integration of renewable energy sources and boosts energy storage capacities, particularly beneficial for less economically prosperous regions. Additionally, the study provides valuable insights for advancing energy research in economically viable areas. Recommendations included conducting site-specific assessments, utilizing advanced modeling tools, implementing regular maintenance protocols, and enhancing communication among system components.

3. Introduction.
In a split range control loop, output of
the controller is split and sent to two or
more control valves. The splitter
defines how each valve is sequenced
as the controller output changes from
0 to 100%. In most split range
applications, the controller adjusts the
opening of one of the valves when its
output is in the range of 0 to 50% and
the other valve when its output is in
the range of 50% to 100%.
3
4. Unlike the cascade and selective control
scheme the split range control has one
measured and more then one
manipulated variable. Since there is only
one controlled output , we have only
one controlled signal which is thus spilt in
to several parts each affecting one of
the final control element which are
available in the system . In other words
we can say that we have one output
from controller and split in to no of signal
depends upon how many final control
elements are there. So finally we control
the process by one output and many
final control element.
4
6. An “Split range control ” control strategy involves a controller
and many final control elements depends upon the various
process. In fig-1 we are going to control the hotwell level
control for steam turbine . we consist some equipments and
some instruments for control the process. We have a motive
to control the hotwell level at 50% desired level . When level
goes down below 50% then controller generate the
command on the basis of error and open the recirculation
valve to maintain the level at 50%.Now when the level goes
greater then 50% then the same command open the
deaerator FCV to dump the excess water to deaerator to
control the level . So in this process we are controlling two
CV with single output in such a manner that when level are
increasing then deaerator CV will open and When level
gose down then Hotwell recirculation CV will open and
control the desired level.Deaerator CV will work from 0 to
50% and Hotwell recirculation will work from 50 to 100%.So
finaly split control are using in the given process to control
the hotwell level accurately.

7. SYMBOLS
FT, Flow transmitters.
PV, Process variables.
SV, Set variables.
LIC, Level controller.
LT, Level transmitter.
CV, Control valves.
7
8. Advantages:
We have more then one final control element so we
can control the process effectively.
We are using single controller for many final control
element, so the control system will be cheap and
loading will be educed .
We can use the split range control effectively where we
have many source of one physical quantity to control
as single output.
Disadvantages
More then one Physical quantity source are required.
We are using single controller output to control all the
manipulated variables so if there will be some fault in
controller all the system will be unbalance and device
will be damaged.
