The document provides an evaluation of the production process for an interview project. It discusses strengths and weaknesses in the areas of research, planning, time management, technical qualities, aural qualities, audience appeal, and peer feedback. Key strengths included effective research on audience and questions, thorough planning, and clear audio quality. Areas for improvement included adding more sound effects, contingency planning, and making the advertisement more relevant to the interview topic. The evaluation seeks feedback on how to enhance the integration of music and sound effects to improve listener experience.
3. Research
• The strengths of my research was that I found a variety of different way to
present topics and the kind of questions that could keep information
flowing on that topic. This helped my production since I could use these
techniques to benefit how well my work flowed. Additionally, my research
of audience helped me use language which they could easily understand
and asked questions to my interviewees that would benefit my audience.
• The weakness of my research was that I didn’t focus enough on the
different options I could use but focused on one subject. Something I
could have done to improve my research would be by finding more
subjects and how they properly use sound effects so I could use similar
functions. Adding sounds effects would create an immersive setting of the
game being spoken about so you can imagine yourself in the game and as
it builds throughout the interview with the description of different areas.
4. Planning
• Strengths of my planning were that I was able to check back to help me
understand what parts I hadn’t inserted in my interview, whilst also
helping me decide what I could implement genre wise and what kind of
questions would be asked. My planning helped my product since I could
always check between two or three ideas I thought of and easily have at
least 1 or 2 that would fit into the interview.
• The weaknesses of my planning was mainly that I didn’t have many sounds
effects or contingency plans for my work. To improve this I could add more
contingency plans to make sure nothing could go wrong and if somehow it
did that I could sort it. With having extra sound effects and contingency
plans I could easily have an interview that flows a lot more whilst also
could have been done quicker if I had a plan for the different versions of
Photoshop.
5. Time Management
• Mostly. Yes I did complete the production on time but with some extra
time I feel like I don’t think I could have done much else for it since the
interview already had enough sounds effects. If I had more time to do my
work I probably would have done some more research to find out about
sound effects in interviews since currently I find that there shouldn’t be
tonnes but other would think the positive.
6. Technical Qualities
Firstly, the main similarities about the existing interview and my
interview is that they ask questions that will pull information
out of the interviewee without it being to close. Additionally,
some more similarities is that they have small intro with a bit of
music like I have also they have a end where they say thanks to
the interviewee and the audience.
On the other hand, some differences that the two
have is that I have my interviews in two different sections one
for Andrew and one for Aaron whilst the existing one has a
question that all the interviewees answer before the next
question is asked. Furthermore, I have quite long intro and
outro music and also have a small advert in the middle of the
two interviews
7. Aural Qualities
• In my opinion I like the quality of the audio since it’s clear
and constant. I found it creative since it included a intro
and end song whilst also having the galaxy advert in the
middle. The part of the audio I enjoyed was mainly how
well the songs worked at each end of the interview and
also the continuous flow in the interviews. Parts I would
improve would be the background sounds since there are
some parts where you can here things like during Aarons
you could here a dog a one point. The way I would do this is
by extracting the sounds and taking parts out until I'm left
with just the interview the only that rooms sounds.
• Strengths of my audio were that it was easily audible with
sounds effects that set the mood of the interview. On the
other hand, a weakness would be the background sound
that cluttered the audio at times
8. Audience Appeal
I’ve appealed to my target audience by using certain song types
that they would enjoy and an advert which they could appeal to.
Additionally, I’ve interviewed people in my audiences age range
so the questions answered would link to them.
The main sound effect that works really well with the interview
was the page turning effect that makes you visualize the
questions the interviewer has. The music I found was almost all
used, I only couldn’t find a place to put one of my soundtracks.
The recordings I used were fully used, those I didn’t were some
form of blooper which don’t need to be revisited.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– Interview number 1 was good
– Interview number 2 speaking was good
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Interview number 2 also has a lot of rustling in the
background
– The advert wasn’t linked to the interview at all
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– Good use of fading between songs and voices
– Good variety for different sound effects
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– A better advert that links to the topic
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– Questions asked kept on topic and keep information
flowing
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– end and intro song could be better and sound more
like a radio
– Don’t have such varied sounds since it could spike the
sound randomly and would annoy listeners
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– I agree with the comments of the advert about it not
linking towards the topic in the interviews.
Additionally, I feel like the songs could flow a bit
better with correct sound usage.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I disagree that the songs were wrong though, since
they linked to the topic of games and had the beat of
the games mentioned.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
With the comments mentioned I would definitely
change the advert up to match the theme. Moreover,
I would add a quite theme of the game they’ve
mentioned behind the interview so listeners would
recognize the tune and enjoy the interview more,
but not so loud that I cancels out the interview.
