different topics.
• Can give you sound effect ideas and content ideas.
• See what has previously been made to avoid copyright.
Weaknesses
• Time consuming.
• Difficult to find podcasts as you need exact names.
• If you do surveys people could lie and you could get inaccurate results.
Planning
Strengths
• It helps to plan how you will construct and execute your ideas.
• Helps to develop initial ideas further and develop them more.
• Helps to be more prepared and puts any obstacles into perspective.
Weaknesses
• Time consuming.
• You don’t get a visual idea of what you are going to make fully.
• Might not have fully developed or thought out your idea as a whole.
Time Management
I believe I managed my time well. This is because I stuck to the deadlines for
each PowerPoint and completed my product on time. If I had more time on
this project then I would have maybe looked into editing some different
sounds in the background just to give my podcast some more depth and to
keep the audience intrigued and want to keep watching. This would make me
push my editing skills further and give the audience more to listen to. Some
things took shorter than I expected such as the script. I thought that the script
would take a lot longer than it did as I thought that I would be thinking about
the questions and cue lines a lot more. I did however some of the questions I
wanted to ask so some I developed more on and I also knew how to write a
script. On the other hand some things took longer. I had to go back a few
times and cut down some things as it was too long. Overall that was the only
fault in my time management and I thought everything else was on point and
handed in on time.
Technical Qualities
https://soundcloud.com/policingmatters/policing-matters-episode-1
My work involves a presenter asking a
retired policeman questions about what
it as like being in the police force and
how he thinks that it has changed. I talk
in standard English and try to be formal. I
do not use a jingle instead I use a short
10 second song to introduce each
episode of my podcast. I did this because
it makes my podcast specific and gets
the audience excited and ready for my
podcast. Similar to the existing product I
do not use any sound effects or music,
only voiceovers. I think that this keeps
the podcast simple and informative for
the audience that is why I have done it.
This Podcast involves a presenter talking to a
retired police man. They talk about the
importance of criminal justice and different
systems and how people should be treated
when being arrested or even on trial. They talk
in standard English and it is very formal. They
make the audience want to listen on by
referring to times where audiences could
relate and to make them want to know the
information that is being portrayed. They use a
jingle at the start of the podcast but during
they do not use any sound effects or music,
only voiceovers.
Aural Qualities
I think that my work did sound good. I think this because I cut out different parts of
repetition and also parts where the presenter or the interviewee stuttered or paused.
I did this because it sped up the podcast a lot more and it also keeps the audience
involved and keeps the pace and tone of the podcast. I also had to equal out some of
the different sounds and volume. For example my intro music was a lot louder than
my main interview. I turned the volume down on the intro music to match the
interview as it was a lot quieter. The room I recorded in was good for sound as there
was no echo's or loss of sound in the room. Everything was clear as it was a small
room with no other sounds interrupting. I did a test before I begun the podcast to
make sure that all the kit was working and the room was good for sound quality. I
think that my work was creative and original as it is a topic that isn't spoken about a
lot. I like aspects such as the physical interview as it ran very smoothly and sounded
very aesthetic. Next time I would speak closer to the Tascam as it picked up the sound
and it was clear but I had to turn down other sounds a lot to be able to fully hear the
interview.
Audience Appeal
I appealed to my 45-64 year old audience by using a retired police man. This makes the
primary audience remember their days in the force and gives them a direct link to the
podcast. This makes them want to listen to more. It also shows them how much the force
has changed as it brings them back to the old times and compares it to now. I appealed to
my male audience by using a retired male police officer. This would appeal to Male police
detectives, inspectors and others on the force as back then there were a lot more males in
the job so more males will listen to a police officer from that time. I appealed to my
Belonger psychographic by showing the police off to people that want to be recognised for a
good thing like being in the police. It also advertises to people that want justice and pride as
that is what police officers fight for and there believes and values. I finally appealed to my
middle class audience by using a job role that was common in the middle class social status.
Police officers are generally middle class people tat work in the job. They also fight for
equality and protect innocent civilians of most classes. If I had more time and more
resources then I would have looked into more sound effects and music that would link to my
audience. For example a jingle or police tune that links to a show or something nostalgic
that the audience can have a direct link to. I could have also widened my dynamic and ask
possible questions about giving advice for younger generations wanting to join the force.
This would generate a younger audience into my product widening the age range and my
target audience.

the product?
– Maybe some more sound effects.
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?

– The intro music gets you gripped immediately.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Less stuttering and clearer speech. Read questions
before hand to make it smoother.
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– The questions are very detailed.
– I liked the intro music as it gets you drawn in
immediately.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Less stuttering and more practice on the questions
to avoid it.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– I agree with the feedback that I could have maybe
read the questions some more and make the podcast
flow smoother and more clear with less stutters.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I disagree with the fact that I could have added more
sound effects as it was a very formal podcast that
involved lots of talking and discussion.
Peer Feedback Summary
Some changes that I would make would be speaking closer to the Tascam
as it picked up the sound and it was clear but I had to turn down other
sounds a lot to be able to fully hear the interview. It would have been a
lot easier in the production process if I spoke closer to the Tascam. I
would also try stuttering less and try get more of a clearer speech. to do
this I would read questions before hand to make the podcast flow
smoother overall. Another change I would make would be widening my
dynamic and ask possible questions about giving advice for younger
generations wanting to join the force. This would generate a younger
audience into my product widening the age range and my target
audience.
