Production Process Evaluation
Research
• The strengths I found with my research was that it gave me a chance to find existing
radio shows to see how the show had been laid out and the different timings. I also
found it helped me see how existing radio poster as I was making one myself, I saw
the fonts, colours and styles being used to influence me when I came to make my
own, another strength was that I was able to research the music I wanted to play on
my show and the different bits of information I wanted to talk about on the show.
• The weaknesses I found with doing my research was that I couldn’t really find any
existing radio shows that were similar to what I was planning to make, this meant that
I had to get influences from other radio shows.
• I think I could of spent more time researching different radio logos and spent more
time on my logo in general to make it look better and add more to it. I’m pleased with
how my research went and I feel as if I gathered all the information I needed for my
show.
• When conducting my research I went back to my questionnaire to look at the
response I had been given about what my target audience wanted to see in my radio
show, how long it should it be and what music I should play. I asked a number of
different questions to try and get a reasonable response.
Planning
• The strengths I found when doing my planning were that it gave me time to look at existing
scripts, I couldn’t find any existing radio scripts but I think just looking at a script gave me an
outline of how to plan mine when I came to do it and with the different bits of information I
wanted to cover. Another strength I found was that it gave me the chance to plan what I
wanted on my poster in the way of images and different fonts and style in general. Another
strength would be that it gave me chance to plan what I wanted my logo for my radio show
to look like and the colours and fonts I wanted to use.
• The weaknesses I found when doing my planning were that some of the ideas I had were not
realistic I had to really think about my idea and if it would fit in in with the time scale I had. I
really believe that I produced my idea to the best of my ability and did everything I could do
to make it to a high standard.
Time Management
• The strengths I found while doing my time management was that I had planned every stage out, this meant I knew what I
was doing with each step of my production. Another strength I found was that it taught me who to manage my time well
especially with this product as there was a lot to do. When I was planning to do my logo I thought that it would take me a
log time to produce but surprisingly it didn’t take me as long as I thought it would.
• The weaknesses I found while doing my time management were that I worried a lot about my time management during the
production, at many stages I thought I wouldn't get it all finished in time to meet the deadline. If I had been given a bit more
time I could of spent more time on my logo and poster to make it look better and more “Professional”.
• If I was to do it all over again, I’d relax more and come up with realistic ideas. I think that overall though my time
management went really well for my product and I completed in more than enough time. At first I didn’t quite know how to
use Photoshop, I thought this would be a problem when it came to my time management, in the end I put together and
completed what I thought was a professional logo and poster.
Technical Qualities
Similarity: on my poster I have put the image of
an old fashioned mic within my logo, the
existing poster has also used an image of a mic
as well.
Similarity: on my poster I
have chosen an image with a
dark red background, on the
existing poster they have
also chosen a red
background
Difference: this
existing poster has
used a light red
background.
Difference: this
existing poster
has added the
date and used
quite a plain font
with there text
I have used few different pieces of software throughout my production
process, to make my poster I used Photoshop and different tools within
it. To create my logo I also used Photoshop. I sourced the background
image off of Google. When it came to creating my radio show I used
Adobe premiere to edit the final version.
Aesthetic Qualities
I really believe this product is the one I’m most proud of out of all of the products I’ve created this year. I think it was very creative and
fitted well with the time of year because summer and festival season is steadily approaching, I’m really pleased with how my product
went overall and especially the editing process, it didn’t’ take as long as I thought it would do.
The strengths of my product are definitely the audio, and my logo because of the way I produced it and the edited it and my logo
because of the font I used and the colours I feel as if my logo will attract my target audience and make my poster stand out.
A weakness and something that I would improve is my poster I feel that I could of spent more time on it and made it look better and
overall added more to it, some images and a bit more information I think would of made it better.
I have used few different pieces of software throughout my production process, to make my poster I used Photoshop and different
tools within it. To create my logo I also used Photoshop. I sourced the background image off of Google. When it came to creating my
radio show I used Adobe premiere to edit the final version.
This image tells my audience what
the poster is about without them
having to really read it
Audience Appeal
I have appealed to my target audience with the content of my show and what my show is based
on, the specific bits of my content would be the audio from my radio show because this is the
main part of my product and talks the most about what I believe will attract my audience, that is
about Leeds and Reading festival that a lot of young people attend. Looking back at my
questionnaire I have made sure I have listened to the answers on what people wanted in a radio
show, what music to play and for how long the timing of the show should be, some of the
responses were surprising especially on the questions about what music they wanted to hear on
the show, a lot of people didn’t know the bands I had stated. My product is targeted at young
people aged between 15-24, the psychographic band I would place my target group in is
“Emulator” my product will appeal this this certain psychographic band because I think people in
this group are more likely to entertain the listener and stay in their minds because the show is
very topical. Also a lot of young people will be in this “band” so will ultimately relate to my
product. My product is aimed at both male and female, I have also decided that my product will
be aimed at all social classes.
Peer
Feedback
Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– The thing I liked the most about this product was the two presenters who were talking. They were both clear and
always had something interesting to say. I thought the one on the right was really funny and made me laugh when
listening to him. I also enjoyed this product because of the music that was played throughout, as it flowed well and it
looked professional as it came on, which I was really pleased to see. I also liked the logo at the start of the product
that showed the persons radio show as its own brand and I really thought that showed professionalism in his product.
I really liked the conversation and topics of what they were talking about as it was both informative and useful for
anyone who may have doubts about going to festivals. The opinion showed as well is non biased and tells it how it is,
instead of potentially lying about it.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• I think only a few potential improvements can be made: the fact that some of the album covers looked a little blurred and
not as HD as I would of liked to see. This can be improved by just finding a more HD image on Google, by doing this I think it
would just have made the product just that bit better. Another improvement I would suggest is the selection and variety of
music. As I only felt that the music shown was the radio shows host choice of music. Instead of variety that may intrigue his
audience more. For example instead of including all the same genre of bands bar one, pick multiple genres of music, for
more attraction for your audience.
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– The questions keep flowing well and the conversation flows well there's never an
awkward silence and the knowledge is vast.
– You have made the introduction to the songs professional and it feels like a real show,
with good quality sound.
– You both always had something to say and kept the conversation interesting and I
wanted to keep listening.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• The music needs to play sooner and have shorter intervals between the songs.
• Try to make it more like a conversation rather then an Interview.
• The video is really out of sink.
• You could have ended the show in a more obvious way.
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I really liked the studio grade quality of the podcast and that they were talking on
popular and trending subjects, also the way that the podcast is laid out from audio
commentary, background music, transitioning etc. was really well done.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– The volume between the guests and the hosts would be better if they both were at the
same volume as one of them was too quiet and the other was to loud compared the
other, also the cutting off the audio tracks needs touching up on as some were cut to
late/too soon. A background music track would’ve been nice also as the podcast was a
bit plain.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
• After reading back through my feedback I agree that I should of used a better image for the album
covers to make them look less blurred. I also agree that the video is out of sync I think I should of
made sure my video could be synced so then it follows the audio. I also agree that I could of edited
the music to make it start sooner and make the intervals shorter. I also agree that I could of put
more genres of my music in more show to appeal to more audience I also agree that I spoke clearly
throughout my show and that the conversation flowed well.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– After looking at back at the feedback I have been given I disagree with what has been said
about the ending of my show, I think that it is done in a professional manner. I also disagree
where it says about the both of the presenters volumes not being at the same level. I think
this is wrong. I also disagree with what was said about the album covers as I would not choose
blurry album covers for my product. I disagree with the point of the background music as I
didn't’t feel as though the radio show needed it as it put my target group off as they are
meant to be listening to the show and not the background music, I included music in the show
but I didn't’t think it was necessary to include a distraction to myself talking about a important
matter. As it loses the serious tone of where I’m going.
Peer Feedback Summary
After reading through back the feedback, I have been given. I would keep the
album covers but I would change them to a 4K image. As I thought the album
covers I used were effective and looked good when the viewers were listening to
that music. I would also change the intervals with the four songs, I would start
them sooner to keep the interest of the listeners as some feedback I had
received suggested that the gap was a little to long and it bored them slightly. I
would also sync in the Go-Pro footage so then it looks as if I’m talking
throughout my audio. This was a problem as it would make my show look miles
better is I had completed this. I also would play more genres of music on my
show if I was to do it again to appeal to more of my target group. With all of the
feedback I have been given, I still believe and know that my product will attract
my target audience and will still be “successful” amongst young people.

7. fmp evaluation submission

  • 3. Research • The strengths I found with my research was that it gave me a chance to find existing radio shows to see how the show had been laid out and the different timings. I also found it helped me see how existing radio poster as I was making one myself, I saw the fonts, colours and styles being used to influence me when I came to make my own, another strength was that I was able to research the music I wanted to play on my show and the different bits of information I wanted to talk about on the show. • The weaknesses I found with doing my research was that I couldn’t really find any existing radio shows that were similar to what I was planning to make, this meant that I had to get influences from other radio shows. • I think I could of spent more time researching different radio logos and spent more time on my logo in general to make it look better and add more to it. I’m pleased with how my research went and I feel as if I gathered all the information I needed for my show. • When conducting my research I went back to my questionnaire to look at the response I had been given about what my target audience wanted to see in my radio show, how long it should it be and what music I should play. I asked a number of different questions to try and get a reasonable response.
  • 4. Planning • The strengths I found when doing my planning were that it gave me time to look at existing scripts, I couldn’t find any existing radio scripts but I think just looking at a script gave me an outline of how to plan mine when I came to do it and with the different bits of information I wanted to cover. Another strength I found was that it gave me the chance to plan what I wanted on my poster in the way of images and different fonts and style in general. Another strength would be that it gave me chance to plan what I wanted my logo for my radio show to look like and the colours and fonts I wanted to use. • The weaknesses I found when doing my planning were that some of the ideas I had were not realistic I had to really think about my idea and if it would fit in in with the time scale I had. I really believe that I produced my idea to the best of my ability and did everything I could do to make it to a high standard.
  • 5. Time Management • The strengths I found while doing my time management was that I had planned every stage out, this meant I knew what I was doing with each step of my production. Another strength I found was that it taught me who to manage my time well especially with this product as there was a lot to do. When I was planning to do my logo I thought that it would take me a log time to produce but surprisingly it didn’t take me as long as I thought it would. • The weaknesses I found while doing my time management were that I worried a lot about my time management during the production, at many stages I thought I wouldn't get it all finished in time to meet the deadline. If I had been given a bit more time I could of spent more time on my logo and poster to make it look better and more “Professional”. • If I was to do it all over again, I’d relax more and come up with realistic ideas. I think that overall though my time management went really well for my product and I completed in more than enough time. At first I didn’t quite know how to use Photoshop, I thought this would be a problem when it came to my time management, in the end I put together and completed what I thought was a professional logo and poster.
  • 6. Technical Qualities Similarity: on my poster I have put the image of an old fashioned mic within my logo, the existing poster has also used an image of a mic as well. Similarity: on my poster I have chosen an image with a dark red background, on the existing poster they have also chosen a red background Difference: this existing poster has used a light red background. Difference: this existing poster has added the date and used quite a plain font with there text I have used few different pieces of software throughout my production process, to make my poster I used Photoshop and different tools within it. To create my logo I also used Photoshop. I sourced the background image off of Google. When it came to creating my radio show I used Adobe premiere to edit the final version.
  • 7. Aesthetic Qualities I really believe this product is the one I’m most proud of out of all of the products I’ve created this year. I think it was very creative and fitted well with the time of year because summer and festival season is steadily approaching, I’m really pleased with how my product went overall and especially the editing process, it didn’t’ take as long as I thought it would do. The strengths of my product are definitely the audio, and my logo because of the way I produced it and the edited it and my logo because of the font I used and the colours I feel as if my logo will attract my target audience and make my poster stand out. A weakness and something that I would improve is my poster I feel that I could of spent more time on it and made it look better and overall added more to it, some images and a bit more information I think would of made it better. I have used few different pieces of software throughout my production process, to make my poster I used Photoshop and different tools within it. To create my logo I also used Photoshop. I sourced the background image off of Google. When it came to creating my radio show I used Adobe premiere to edit the final version. This image tells my audience what the poster is about without them having to really read it
  • 8. Audience Appeal I have appealed to my target audience with the content of my show and what my show is based on, the specific bits of my content would be the audio from my radio show because this is the main part of my product and talks the most about what I believe will attract my audience, that is about Leeds and Reading festival that a lot of young people attend. Looking back at my questionnaire I have made sure I have listened to the answers on what people wanted in a radio show, what music to play and for how long the timing of the show should be, some of the responses were surprising especially on the questions about what music they wanted to hear on the show, a lot of people didn’t know the bands I had stated. My product is targeted at young people aged between 15-24, the psychographic band I would place my target group in is “Emulator” my product will appeal this this certain psychographic band because I think people in this group are more likely to entertain the listener and stay in their minds because the show is very topical. Also a lot of young people will be in this “band” so will ultimately relate to my product. My product is aimed at both male and female, I have also decided that my product will be aimed at all social classes.
  • 10. Feedback 1 • What did you like about the product? – The thing I liked the most about this product was the two presenters who were talking. They were both clear and always had something interesting to say. I thought the one on the right was really funny and made me laugh when listening to him. I also enjoyed this product because of the music that was played throughout, as it flowed well and it looked professional as it came on, which I was really pleased to see. I also liked the logo at the start of the product that showed the persons radio show as its own brand and I really thought that showed professionalism in his product. I really liked the conversation and topics of what they were talking about as it was both informative and useful for anyone who may have doubts about going to festivals. The opinion showed as well is non biased and tells it how it is, instead of potentially lying about it. • What improvements could have been made to the product? • I think only a few potential improvements can be made: the fact that some of the album covers looked a little blurred and not as HD as I would of liked to see. This can be improved by just finding a more HD image on Google, by doing this I think it would just have made the product just that bit better. Another improvement I would suggest is the selection and variety of music. As I only felt that the music shown was the radio shows host choice of music. Instead of variety that may intrigue his audience more. For example instead of including all the same genre of bands bar one, pick multiple genres of music, for more attraction for your audience.
  • 11. Feedback 2 • What did you like about the product? – The questions keep flowing well and the conversation flows well there's never an awkward silence and the knowledge is vast. – You have made the introduction to the songs professional and it feels like a real show, with good quality sound. – You both always had something to say and kept the conversation interesting and I wanted to keep listening. • What improvements could have been made to the product? • The music needs to play sooner and have shorter intervals between the songs. • Try to make it more like a conversation rather then an Interview. • The video is really out of sink. • You could have ended the show in a more obvious way.
  • 12. Feedback 3 • What did you like about the product? – I really liked the studio grade quality of the podcast and that they were talking on popular and trending subjects, also the way that the podcast is laid out from audio commentary, background music, transitioning etc. was really well done. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – The volume between the guests and the hosts would be better if they both were at the same volume as one of them was too quiet and the other was to loud compared the other, also the cutting off the audio tracks needs touching up on as some were cut to late/too soon. A background music track would’ve been nice also as the podcast was a bit plain.
  • 13. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? • After reading back through my feedback I agree that I should of used a better image for the album covers to make them look less blurred. I also agree that the video is out of sync I think I should of made sure my video could be synced so then it follows the audio. I also agree that I could of edited the music to make it start sooner and make the intervals shorter. I also agree that I could of put more genres of my music in more show to appeal to more audience I also agree that I spoke clearly throughout my show and that the conversation flowed well. • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? – After looking at back at the feedback I have been given I disagree with what has been said about the ending of my show, I think that it is done in a professional manner. I also disagree where it says about the both of the presenters volumes not being at the same level. I think this is wrong. I also disagree with what was said about the album covers as I would not choose blurry album covers for my product. I disagree with the point of the background music as I didn't’t feel as though the radio show needed it as it put my target group off as they are meant to be listening to the show and not the background music, I included music in the show but I didn't’t think it was necessary to include a distraction to myself talking about a important matter. As it loses the serious tone of where I’m going.
  • 14. Peer Feedback Summary After reading through back the feedback, I have been given. I would keep the album covers but I would change them to a 4K image. As I thought the album covers I used were effective and looked good when the viewers were listening to that music. I would also change the intervals with the four songs, I would start them sooner to keep the interest of the listeners as some feedback I had received suggested that the gap was a little to long and it bored them slightly. I would also sync in the Go-Pro footage so then it looks as if I’m talking throughout my audio. This was a problem as it would make my show look miles better is I had completed this. I also would play more genres of music on my show if I was to do it again to appeal to more of my target group. With all of the feedback I have been given, I still believe and know that my product will attract my target audience and will still be “successful” amongst young people.
