Research
My research was easy to conduct because there are tons of podcasts about
Nintendo on Youtube and it was very accessible and helpful to what I wanted
to talk about. The one that was helpful the most was the Nintendo game
awards where they shared their views and opinions of the game along with
the winners of some categories. There is a jingle at the beginning which is
Nintendo retro style and also, there is sound effects during the reveals which
is a drumroll to create the suspense for the winner and keep the fans eager to
hear who has won.
The strengths of the research were that whenever I searched for a Nintendo
podcast, there was a wide variety to choose from and can help with my own
podcast. The weaknesses are that I wanted to find a Princess Peach podcast
and there weren’t that many searches to find on YouTube which caused my
research to be limited as there wasn’t that many to find.
Planning
At first, I planned to do a Princess Peach podcast which I quickly changed my mind
about when I was doing my proposal because I wanted to do something different
and step out of my comfort zone. I made mind maps to describe my podcast
name, genre, equipment etc to help me brainstorm what I was originally planning
to do. My planning was very simple and the sound effects were accessible and
downloadable as they fit into the style of my own podcast and including some in
game music and character quotes. I used SoundCloud and YouTube to download
my sound and music because both are free websites and they are very easy to
find and listen to. I wrote my script on Word and that was very helpful because it
made me feel even more prepared and had a lot of information.
The strengths of planning my podcast was that I had a lot of ideas that came to
my head which helped with my mind map and helped focus my idea and narrow it
down to one simple idea. The weaknesses of planning my podcast were that I
changed my original plan to something different because I had even more ideas
for the current idea than I did before.
Time Management
I feel like I managed my time well by doing little parts each day and breaking
it into small chunks to help with the time also I took some rest breaks so I
didn’t get too tired and prevent headaches along with eye strain. Because of
this, I was able to complete my project on time and beat the deadline. I did
finish my project on time but if I could have improved something about it with
additional time, I would have mentioned a bit more about the game and
more about my review on the game as I feel like my review was very vague
and short with places where I could have shared a little bit more about what I
thought about it.
Also, I would have recorded it all again also to be a bit more clearer and
louder because I feel like on some of the audio clips, I talk too fast and I am
very quiet in some clips and causes people to not understand what I’m saying.
The music volume should be turned down a lot more in order for people to
understand.
Technical Qualities
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qqsC0BTdHM&t=2921s
Similarities
- Like mine, this podcast is clear and well worded which causes it to be more professional.
- At the beginning, they used a jingle to indicate the beginning of the podcast.
- They talked clearly in an enthusiastic tone and not too fast or too slow.
- My podcast has had some parts of it cut off such as some words that didn’t fit well with the
podcast.
- There are sound effects in mine to show the sections off one by one.
Differences
• They have different topics that are being talked about.
• This podcast isn’t scripted as they all seem to be having a conversation during it while giving their
review on the winner of the category.
• My podcast is very full of information meanwhile they mentioned what they liked about it without
mentioning what the game is about.
• They have 3 people and interviewing each other and mine only has 1 person talking.
Aural Qualities
My work sounds clear and professional because I am speaking clearly into the
microphone and I am producing information that may get people drawn to it
and the product that I am talking about. I feel like it was creative with the
music and sound effects to prove that they are in their corresponding
sections. Personally, I love the background music because I tried to pick the
music that best suited each section of the podcast. Some of the sound effects
included
If I could improve, I would make sure that I would talk a bit slower and not
rush my speech too much. Also, I could have drunk more water to help my
throat from being too dry and sore and speak more clearly.
Some strengths include that some of the sound effects included are from the
game which helps listeners become familiar with the game and have a better
understanding of it. If I had more time, I could have added more sound effects
from the actual game of the characters speaking. This would have added
more interest and engagement for the listeners.
Audience Appeal
I feel like I have appealed to my target audience by making sure that everything that I
have said is age appropriate and making what I say persuasive and understandable to
them. I used music and sound effects to make them understand the different sections
and edit parts out that may seem offensive. I think the characters section will appeal to
them because the music used is so cheery and including character quotes that help
them get a feel for each of the characters.
From the audience profile, I have changed my topic on what I was going to talk about as
recently, I was going to talk about Peach but then I had an idea for something else. I also
changed the target gender to also include the male audience because the topic I am
currently talking about is based around both genders. The audience is 12+ as it is the
games official rating and the psychographic along with the working class have stayed the
same because the podcast is free to access and includes easy language. The
psychographic hasn’t changed because in my podcast, I talk about the characters and
how they are supporting one another down their house leaders own route and all three
house leaders are very successful which the audience can relate to and respond to well.
Peer
Feedback
Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
• I liked the music in the background and how well put together it
was. I could hear the voice clearly and understand what was said.
Also, the sound effects were really good and well picked.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• The only thing that you could improve on is that the voice needs to
be louder so I can understand you better. Also, add more character
quotes so it makes you have more of a feel of the characters.
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
• The podcast was very engaging and the tone of voice
used was amazing. Also, the music makes the podcast
more persuasive and interesting for the audience.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
• On some parts of the podcast, you spoke too fast and
the music drowned out your voice a bit too much and I
couldn’t understand what was being said.
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
• You have a good volume, the information was very specific
and helps people understand what the game is all about
also the background music used was very engaging.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
• You are speaking a little too fast and I’m not able to hear
you clearly. Sometimes, the noises in the background are
much more louder than your actual voice.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
• I agree that I talked too fast in some parts and
that some music was louder than my own voice.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
• I disagree with the fact that I was too quiet
because I feel like I spoke with a good volume and
it was understandable.
Peer Feedback Summary
If I could change anything about my podcast, I would speak slower so I can get my
words out and speak a bit more loudly to let people understand me more clearly. Also,
I would add more sections like DLC, Battle Classes etc. if I could to make it even more
informative to help persuade people to buy the game with the DLC. Based on my peer
feedback, which said that the noises are more louder than my actual voice, I could
turn down the volume of the noises so it doesn’t drown out my voice in the future
using the tool ‘Audio Gain’ on Premiere Pro.
Based on another feedback, I could have downloaded more character quotes and
sayings to the podcast using the Screen Recorder on my phone on YouTube so it helps
give more of an understanding of the characters and the personalities of each one. It
will also help persuade the audience to see if they like the game and purchase it with
some understanding of it.

Because of this, I was able to complete my project on time and beat the deadline. I did finish my project on time but if I could have improved something about it with additional time, I would have mentioned a bit more about the game and more about my review on the game as I feel like my review was very vague and short with places where I could have shared a little bit more about what I thought about it. Also, I would have recorded it all again also to be a bit more clearer and louder because I feel like on some of the audio clips, I talk too fast and I am very quiet in some clips and causes people to not understand what I’m saying. The music volume should be turned down a lot more in order for people to understand.
  • 6. Technical Qualities https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qqsC0BTdHM&t=2921s Similarities - Like mine, this podcast is clear and well worded which causes it to be more professional. - At the beginning, they used a jingle to indicate the beginning of the podcast. - They talked clearly in an enthusiastic tone and not too fast or too slow. - My podcast has had some parts of it cut off such as some words that didn’t fit well with the podcast. - There are sound effects in mine to show the sections off one by one. Differences • They have different topics that are being talked about. • This podcast isn’t scripted as they all seem to be having a conversation during it while giving their review on the winner of the category. • My podcast is very full of information meanwhile they mentioned what they liked about it without mentioning what the game is about. • They have 3 people and interviewing each other and mine only has 1 person talking.
  • 7. Aural Qualities My work sounds clear and professional because I am speaking clearly into the microphone and I am producing information that may get people drawn to it and the product that I am talking about. I feel like it was creative with the music and sound effects to prove that they are in their corresponding sections. Personally, I love the background music because I tried to pick the music that best suited each section of the podcast. Some of the sound effects included If I could improve, I would make sure that I would talk a bit slower and not rush my speech too much. Also, I could have drunk more water to help my throat from being too dry and sore and speak more clearly. Some strengths include that some of the sound effects included are from the game which helps listeners become familiar with the game and have a better understanding of it. If I had more time, I could have added more sound effects from the actual game of the characters speaking. This would have added more interest and engagement for the listeners.
  • 8. Audience Appeal I feel like I have appealed to my target audience by making sure that everything that I have said is age appropriate and making what I say persuasive and understandable to them. I used music and sound effects to make them understand the different sections and edit parts out that may seem offensive. I think the characters section will appeal to them because the music used is so cheery and including character quotes that help them get a feel for each of the characters. From the audience profile, I have changed my topic on what I was going to talk about as recently, I was going to talk about Peach but then I had an idea for something else. I also changed the target gender to also include the male audience because the topic I am currently talking about is based around both genders. The audience is 12+ as it is the games official rating and the psychographic along with the working class have stayed the same because the podcast is free to access and includes easy language. The psychographic hasn’t changed because in my podcast, I talk about the characters and how they are supporting one another down their house leaders own route and all three house leaders are very successful which the audience can relate to and respond to well.
  • 10. Feedback 1 • What did you like about the product? • I liked the music in the background and how well put together it was. I could hear the voice clearly and understand what was said. Also, the sound effects were really good and well picked. • What improvements could have been made to the product? • The only thing that you could improve on is that the voice needs to be louder so I can understand you better. Also, add more character quotes so it makes you have more of a feel of the characters.
  • 11. Feedback 2 • What did you like about the product? • The podcast was very engaging and the tone of voice used was amazing. Also, the music makes the podcast more persuasive and interesting for the audience. • What improvements could have been made to the product? • On some parts of the podcast, you spoke too fast and the music drowned out your voice a bit too much and I couldn’t understand what was being said.
  • 12. Feedback 3 • What did you like about the product? • You have a good volume, the information was very specific and helps people understand what the game is all about also the background music used was very engaging. • What improvements could have been made to the product? • You are speaking a little too fast and I’m not able to hear you clearly. Sometimes, the noises in the background are much more louder than your actual voice.
  • 13. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? • I agree that I talked too fast in some parts and that some music was louder than my own voice. • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? • I disagree with the fact that I was too quiet because I feel like I spoke with a good volume and it was understandable.
  • 14. Peer Feedback Summary If I could change anything about my podcast, I would speak slower so I can get my words out and speak a bit more loudly to let people understand me more clearly. Also, I would add more sections like DLC, Battle Classes etc. if I could to make it even more informative to help persuade people to buy the game with the DLC. Based on my peer feedback, which said that the noises are more louder than my actual voice, I could turn down the volume of the noises so it doesn’t drown out my voice in the future using the tool ‘Audio Gain’ on Premiere Pro. Based on another feedback, I could have downloaded more character quotes and sayings to the podcast using the Screen Recorder on my phone on YouTube so it helps give more of an understanding of the characters and the personalities of each one. It will also help persuade the audience to see if they like the game and purchase it with some understanding of it.
