3. Research
• My research was easier for me to do as it was linked to my magazine I did
before which made it a strength because all the research I did for that I
could use for this podcast. I also researched existing podcasts/interviews
and that gave me a general idea on what questions to ask, how I need to
prepare for it.
• The weaknesses of my research was finding related interviews that
included a music prisoner. I also found it quite difficult to find the primary
gender for this product as I feel that both genders can be primary and it
isn’t aimed at one specific gender.
4. Planning
• The strengths of my planning was writing the scripts out for my podcast.
This helped me a lot because it was quicker for me to record my intro
instead of messing up multiple times or forgetting my lines. Another
strength of my planning was gathering all the sound effects I wanted and
writing out what part I want a sound effect at.
• I have realised that my weakness overall in planning is mind maps and to
improve this I could have done a different plan such as lists, an audio of
me talking about what I want to do. I feel if I did that it would have
brought so much more ideas and I could have improved my podcast from
there.
5. Time Management
• I think I managed my time well as I finished my product before the
deadline was due. If I had more time to improve my podcast I would have
probably done a backup interview/podcast of a different topic in case
mine went entirely wrong or I would have recorded it multiple times to
make sure if anything went wrong I can always fix the problem. I also
would have added more detailed questions instead of just the basic
questions I asked and I probably would have added detailed sound effects
and recorded my own sound effects to add in.
6. Technical Qualities
• The existing products that I have compared to
my work have the similarities of both being a
music artist interviewed and one specific
interview that I compared mine to is the one
where the famous music person is getting
interviewed like mine. The difference is that
mine was outside and the wind does effect
the audio a little bit whereas the professional
one was inside with proper equipment and a
quiet background.
7. Aural Qualities
• The one problem with my sound was the fact
that the wind kind of blocked out some of the
talking. I could have improved this by going
inside to a quiet place. Apart from the wind
problem I think the rest of the podcast is in
good quality and you can hear what is being
said clearly. I think the whole idea was pretty
creative and the music artist that was getting
interviewed did a good job of answering the
questions in good detail.
8. Audience Appeal
I have appealed to my audience by using a popular “famous artist” to interview
that my audience would know and be attracted to. I think the specific bit of
content that my audience would be appealed to is the part where DLR explains
why he is in prison and his point of view from this whole scandal. I also think they
would be interested in hearing when he is going to be releasing music and if he is
able to do this while he is in prison.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked that you asked good follow up questions for the
guests to answers and it kept me engaged and I didn’t
lose concentration throughout the audio.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I didn’t like that for the first part of the audio when
the interviewer was asking questions it was kind of
hard to listen but if I turned up the volume high
enough I could still listen but it would have been
better if it got edited out.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the editing of the podcast, I think that sounded really
good such as the making of your own clapping and the bleeping
over the inappropriate words. I also think the introduction by
the host was really solid and sounded like I was listening to a
professional podcast. It was a good length, not too long where I
got bored but long enough so I was engaged through it all.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• I would have liked to see a background intro on DLR, like explaining
abit about who this person in just in case some of the people who
are watching aren’t really into music and they are listening to this
podcast to find more about music.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked that the interviewer wasn’t afraid to ask awkward
questions and asked deep questions so it was worth the
audiences time and really tried to get to the bottom of the
story such as “ do you not think its unfair on other music
artists what you did”, made it a good ending. The whole
flow of the conversation was good and it didn’t sound
forced at all.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
– I think you could have added some of his music for a small
snippet for your audience to hear his music.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree with adding a background intro on the artist
for those who don’t know who I am interviewing as If I
did this I could attract people outside my audience
which would be great for my podcast.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– I disagree with adding some of his music as I
would have got copyrighted, but if I got his
permission I definitely would have.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
The changes I would have made to my product is
editing out the background wind noise, but I need
more practise to do this or next time I will just go to a
place that is sound proof. I think I will also add more
sound effects to make it more entertaining for my
audience but I don’t think I would add any more music
because I have some for the intro and the outro and
my audience might get sick of listening to music as
they clicked on my podcast to listen to the interview.
