3. Research
• Strengths: The strengths of my research would be that I was able to go to
places in the real world that would help construct it. York has a couple of
destinations focused on Vikings and their history with them.
• How did research help: The research helped since I didn’t have to search in
such a broad area and could search specific things I could’ve find out about
when visiting York itself.
• Weakness: A weakness I find in my research is with new topics I no nothing
about I need to really dig deep, otherwise I can find myself in a hole of mixed
facts that can become confusing.
• What to improve: Things to improve in my research would be my fact
checking. During this I ended up believing the first thing I’d find. Even with a
strong source some of my original research was off by a bit, and in an
education game that can be reflected badly.
• Effect on the project: This improvement would have saved me time in creating
different assets that would have to be seriously changed or scrapped.
4. Planning
• Strengths: The strengths of my planning would be that I went into detail of
what I intended to make and the decisions I would go through to help
complete them. I also looked at what would help me the most in my
production and many different assets.
• How did planning help: This helped my planning as I was able to dig deeply
into what would be the best course of action to take to try achieve the
best project.
• Weakness: Some weaknesses in my planning would be that I never took
into account any problems that would happen in my project that could
prevent me from completing things in time.
• What to improve: to improve I’d make a plan that would help try to
prevent these things from happening.
• Effect on the project: This would keep me up to date with the project and
allow me to improve parts as I progress
5. Time Management
• I don’t believe that I managed my time well . I didn’t complete any of the
parts of the project into time for their soft deadlines. I believe if I had
extra time I would be able to catch up and also be able to complete extra
parts. With set at the beginning I would give myself a plan that would
make sure I would complete the project in time with extra to make
improvements.
6. Technical Qualities
Similarities
The main similarities between the two
games would be that they’re both side-
scrolling, and also focused around one
main protagonist. Additionally, the houses
we created are both similar mainly since
they’re both historically correct.
Differences
Differences between the games would be the
style of interface how my game has a clear hud
with visible health, energy and weapons whilst
the other game doesn’t have anything. Another
different thing would be the placement of
characters. My game the character is on the
bottom of the screen, whilst theirs has some
grass before the characters
7. Aesthetic Qualities- Does the work look good
I believe the inventory of the game looks
good and serves its purpose well. I also
believe it was creative from the use of burlap
to outline it.
The visuals of the
game were rushed
with short time I had
but I feel like I still
managed to create the
scene well and still
was able to show what
I was trying to do.
Additionally, I was able
to fix my perspective
by adding different
bits of depth creating
the path of towards
the hills. I could’ve
improved everything
in the scene a lot
more. For example
adding shields to the
houses, torches by the
paths, trees in the
background, and
texture to the floor
The character himself I
think I did a good job in
representing a viking
warrior. As-well as the
way I’ve created the
weapon wheel.
Strengths of the game would be the inventory and the
more sleek h.u.d I created compared to my old ones.
Some weaknesses would be the background since I can
see everything that could be improved if I had time to
complete it.
8. Audience Appeal
I believe I have appealed to my target audience since I have been historically accurate with
everything I’ve added to the game. Specific parts that would appeal to my audience would be
the character himself as he’s wearing a classic viking warriors outfit that York wore.
Comparing to my questionnaire I believe I’ve created a good side-scroller which shows York’s
viking past and also use a lot more visuals to show the history instead of plain text.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the depth put into the background and how
it matches up to the map
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Although the depth in the background is good the
quality of the graphics could be improved
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– The character has been designed well for the era
– The h.u.d is clean compared to other games
where it’s quite bulky
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– The houses and path could have some more detail
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the map and inventory and how simple the
h.u.d is making everything easy
– Also the path made on the map lines up to the
path in the background
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Some improvements would be the houses, they
seem rather bland and a viking would hang
something outside their house
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– I agree with all my feedback since it’s all correct,
they pointed out everything I knew I could’ve
improved on with more time
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– There’s nothing I can disagree with
14. Peer Feedback Summary
After my feedback I would change the background to
look more full, along with the path making it look like
people live there. Additionally, the houses would have
different objects hanging outside like shields to make
the house stand out a bit more.
