The document provides a summary and evaluation of Josh Bailey's podcast production project. Some key points:
- Josh's research helped him understand common elements of popular podcasts to include in his own, like intro music, scripts, topics, and target audience. However, his podcast had a much smaller budget and resources.
- Planning went well initially but coordinating recording times with guests was more difficult than expected.
- Peer feedback noted the hosts' energy but also identified issues like a squeaking sound and need to mix audio levels better. Josh agrees the introduction could be improved.
- Overall Josh feels the podcast could have been edited more and he should have implemented suggestions to mix audio and add an outro.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
3. Research
My research helped me review and compare already existing products of the
same type as mine… podcasts. It helped me find out common traits included
in popular products and how they might help the podcasts be that as popular
as they are. Things such as intro music, intro’s script, topics, language used,
and target audience. So with my research I gained ideas of things to put in my
podcast as well specifically choosing the perfect audience for it as well.
But to an extent, the weaknesses of my research are that all the products I
looked at are professionally made and have a budget, while mine is a college
student production with no money put into it. It took me a long time to
assemble my final cast for the project and at the end we only had to find a
reasonably quiet place in college to record for a few minutes. Compared to
products I researched having multiple hosts and recurring guests make
several appearances with little to no apparent problems.
4. Planning
For my initial plans I always envisioned myself doing a podcast rather than
anything else but if I had to create any other product besides that for my
audio production it would either be an original crime story or a kind of
autobiography reading about myself. With these three things being my
options I found a podcast to be the most interesting. The strengths of my
planning are having an idea to make a forecast and time properly for when I
wanted to start work and when I wanted to finish it. Planning well helps with
time management and gives me enough time or perhaps more to make my
work its best. Making mind maps for working out names and reasonable
topics to discuss at the start of production helped me from having to think
about them halfway through production.
The one major weakness of my planning for my audio project was when it
came down to gathering people for recording the podcast. I planned on who I
could have included but didn’t think about how I would get them to do it, if
they didn’t want to do it and if they were free at the same time as the others.
5. Time Management
When dealing with my planning, I need to take into consideration the time I
spend doing things, more specifically how long it’ll take to finish my work.
This time around, I stuck to my schedule tightly for my production and
finished that on time. The problems occurred when I started my reflection
and evaluation. For my reflection I struggled to find elements to write about
as all the work I had to do to edit the podcast was on premiere pro and
there's only so much I can say about the processes used to make my podcast.
So I opted to include the script that I had wrote for the podcast and also what
I exported it to (mp3).
I discovered that acquiring people to help record the podcast was more
difficult than initially thought. in needed to be a specific time that everyone
was free at once and felt like recording it.
6. Technical Qualities
Some noteworthy technical qualities I included in my final product would be
the music at the beginning (Bossa Antigua – Kevin MacLeod) that went with
and played into the introduction of the podcast. And other minor qualities
like the transitions help with the emptiness of the little demonstration of
the podcast and makes it seem more professional. As for other qualities like
introduction and discussion topics, I believe them to be lacking and could be
edited further or redone completely.
Content such as this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j8-whqDOVk]
Are a perfect example of what I was aiming for with my product. It has a
clear voice over for the introduction, as well as music that plays over that,
and crisp audio throughout the whole thing. I did attempt to make a similar
product to this and I believe the inspiration is definitely visible in my work.
7. Aural Qualities
Specific sounds from my work sound fitting and professional while
others could be improved upon and edited better. The music for the
introduction and outro sound clear but the reason for this is that those
sounds are taken from the internet and edited in. the voice over that is
paired with the music sounds echoed with hints of some background
noise and if I were to improve upon anything with the audio we
recorded, it would be the introduction. The actual podcast audio is
adequate I would say, it does the job of making everybody audible
though sometimes it can also be distant.
I would say the strengths of my work would be that despite some
background noises and sometimes too low volume audio, I have
managed to successfully record a podcast of my friends and I talking
about a topic relevant and most importantly people could find
interesting. Again, the weaknesses lie in the fact the odd person walked
past the audio equipment hence backgrounded noises can be heard.
8. Audience Appeal
The topic of ASMR is definitely most popular with teenagers at this point in time and I
agree that there are a lot of things to be said about that topic, whether or not we
mentioned some of those points, we did give our thoughts and opinions on the matter
and that’s really what podcasts are all about. In my research I put that my target audience
would be teenagers of any gender who fit into the ‘belonger’ psychographic and have
access to the internet. Access to the internet goes without saying, that is a must so they
can listen to the podcast. The reason I believe people of the belonger psychographic are
more likely to watch the podcast is because they are brand loyal and I feel like that would
mean they are also loyal to a podcast company, given they like the podcast, if they would
enjoy our podcast chances are they might stick with us and keep listening to different
episodes and be loyal to us in a way. The dialogue of the whole podcast is the free speech
of teenagers of both genders so there are reasons to be interested in our opinions and
views as we have all experienced different lives but are still the same age. In this way I
think teenagers would be our main, target audience and the biggest fan base
As for the music and sound effects, there’re no words in either of them so they can pretty
much be enjoyed universally, meaning it doesn’t matter the language you speak, you can
still understand the genre, and the vibes it gives off.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– The energy of the hosts. They all seemed happy
and positive
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– There was a weird squeaking sound halfway
through the recording. Get rid of that
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– It was very fun and enthusiastic
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Add an outro with a voice over rather than a fade-
out one
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– The introduction with the music was good
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Mix the audio so a person speaking is louder than
a person laughing
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree with most if not all of my feedback. The points
about the people sounding happy are a relief as that was
what I was hoping for people to take away from the
podcast and dialogue.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– I disagree when one of my peers said that the introduction
was good; I find the opposite. I think the introduction
should be either edited or re-recorded and improved. The
final product of the introduction in the podcast sounds
awkward and misplaced. I would also write a better script
for that part as well.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
Looking back on my production process for the podcast I would have like
to have edited it a lot more than it is. My feedback which said I should
have mixed the audio is a great idea that I should have acted upon, this
could have made a big difference in the finished product and made it a
lot more enjoyable to listen to. Another peer feedback pointed out a
squeaking noise halfway through the video which I had not noticed until
he had shown me which proves that I should always double check when
reviewing and listen hard when working with this.
Adding an outro to my podcast was mentioned in my peer feedback and
I agree that this would have been a good idea. Initially I was going to
include an outro but during the recording session it appeared like I
wouldn’t have time to add one in since there were no openings or times
where I could out it in; the maximum length of the recording had already
been reached thus there was simply no room for an outro.
