This document provides a summary and evaluation of Kieran Bradley's final podcast project. It discusses the strengths and weaknesses found during the research, planning, and production stages. For the research stage, strengths included finding existing podcasts to analyze, while a weakness was that the motivations of existing podcasts differed. Planning strengths were creating a mock podcast and practicing with sound effects, while a weakness was not including an ending. Time management was mixed. The final podcast discusses motivation and includes music, but could be improved by making the script and podcast longer, adding more sound effects, and improving transitions between elements. Peer feedback praised the topic and flow but suggested slowing speech, adding background music, and using crossfades between songs. K
3. Research
• The strength I found in my research were it gave me the chance to find
existing versions of my final product and this gave me ideas of what do
base my product on, this also helped my product because I could see the
different timing that was used when using sound effects and music, this
gave me a rough idea of what my timing should be. Another strength was
that I found a lot of existing versions of my product, this helped me a lot
because I had a lot to analysis and look at when gathering ideas.
• The weaknesses I found in my research were that the podcast that I found
were very independent to the individual behind them and I found that
there type of motivation wasn’t mine and both were different.
4. Planning
• The strengths that I found in my planning were that I was able to produce
a mock podcast about my daily routine, this got me in the swing of using a
voice recorder and I wrote up a script for my daily routine, this also got me
ready for when I needed to write my script for my final product. Another
strength I found was I was able get experience importing sound effects
and music.
• The weaknesses I found in my planning were that I could of made my
script longer and added an ending to it. Because I didn't’t add an ending
on my script this meant that my podcast didn't’t have an ending to it. This
made my podcast look a bit unprofessional. This wasn’t good.
5. Time Management
• I think at some points during this unit my time management was really
good. At other points it fell a bit, I found myself rushing towards the end
and especially when creating my final product and I feel as if this may of
effected the over all result, I think if I had been given more time I would of
added more sound effects in my product and made my product longer as
it was a podcast, I would of also of my made my script longer when
planning.
6. Technical Qualities
My final product

secret-weapon
Existing product
The similarities that my product has compared to the existing product are the
existing one has introduction music, I have also put introduction music in mine.
The differences that the existing product has is the motivation topic is completely
different, also the existing product is a lot longer than mine.
7. Aural Qualities
• The strengths I found in my final product are, that the message and topic are clear and
anyone listening to my podcast would be able to understand this. I feel as if my product will
attract my target audience, because of the music I have added in and also the sound effects
at the beginning I like this element of my product. If I had chance to change my audio and do
it again I’d talk slower and add an ending to my product. Because my product doesn't’t have
an ending I think that’s a weakness. I think my product is creative because I have looked at
and analysed other existing motivational podcasts and none of them are centred around the
same motivation topic as I have done. I would also make my script longer and that automatic
make my podcast longer that would be an improvement. Another improvement would be
when adding sound effects I’d make sure that there wasn’t a “rough” lead in to a song, as
that’s what’s happened on my product, I would class this as a weakness, also if I had the
chance to record my product again I’d introduce one of the songs as in my finished product I
actually forgot to introduce it, this means it starts playing out of no where.
8. Audience Appeal
I have appealed to my target audience in the way of the topic I have
chosen when planning for my final product, My target audience are
young people aged between 15-24, my topic is about motivation, this
will appeal to my audience because people of that age are in school,
college or university and when your going through this stage in life you
need a lot of motivation to keep going and keep focused on where you
want. Specific bits of my content that will appeal to my target audience
are the music I have used, this is because the music used is very modern
and popular amongst the age range I have chosen. The sound effects I
have chosen will appeal to my target audience because it will get there
attention very quickly and make them want to listen to find out what
the podcast is about.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the lay out of your podcast and how you have a theme tune at the
beginning of you radio podcast.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I think that you could maybe add in a backing tune when talking just to fill the
empty space and not talk as fast.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the motivational music at the start as it fits with the current topic of the show.
– The topics of the show are relatable to the audience listening as everyone has a goal
that they want to achieve and hearing people talk about this touchy subject will
hopefully motivate the listener to do something with themselves.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
– Revising lines as at some parts the speakers stuttered and made It inaudible to hear
what they were trying to say
– I would like if there was a background at a low audio level so it would take the focus
away from the loud background noise making the audio not as pleasant to listen to.
– Crossfades of the songs would’ve been nice as the songs just start really loud potentially
scaring or hurting the listeners ears so a build up would have been preferred.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
I liked how professionally written the script was and
how it flowed well
I also liked that you included a special guest in the
product making it seem more real
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Try too make less mistakes in your speech so it
sounds more professional and not scripted.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– After looking at the feedback about my podcast, I agree with quite a few points that
were made. I agree that I should of put crossfades of the songs because when listening
though they come really loud and startle you. I also agree that I could of backing music
to fill in the empty spaces where no one is speaking and I also agree that I could of not
talked so fast because when listening through you can notice this.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
• Personally I don’t think I made many mistakes in my podcast as the person
made out I did, I agree that could of spoken slower
14. Peer Feedback Summary
• The changes I would make to my product after reviewing my feedback are I would use
backing music through my podcast as I’m speaking. I would also speak a lot slower to make it
look more professional. I would also use crossfades to make sure when the music comes on it
isn’t blasting off in your ears. I would also revise my lines and try not to stutter as I’m saying
them.
