3. RESEARCH
• I considered doing a radio podcast on upcoming films but I
decided to do a podcast on photography. So for research I looked
at other photography podcasts on YouTube from 2018. This helped
give me an idea on what to do for the product. From it I got the
idea to do the podcast in a mixed sort of way in terms of tone.
Slightly humorous but happening in a mature scenario trying to be
serious. (This was tone was completely original and not inspired by
the existing products). Research helped me get an idea about what
I wanted to make the podcast about and what topics to discuss.
The problem with doing this amount of research is it takes a while
and resources can be hard to find and you might not know what to
look for. But research for products is highly recommended so you
have an idea of what to do for your product. I am very happy with
my final product.
4. PLANNING
• For planning we made spider diagrams to help us decide what we
could do. I made 3 spider diagrams to help me decide. One was
doing a photography podcast which is what I went with in the end.
One focussed on the idea of doing a podcast about upcoming
movies such as superhero movies, action movies, horror, sci-fi, etc.
The other one was a podcast on music, where I would have played
and talked about classic songs, new songs and my personal
favourites. Planning helped me figure out what I wanted to do and
understand the topics to talk about. But one of its weaknesses is it
can take time whilst you can be doing the actual product. I feel like
a could have done more diagrams to help expand my thoughts and
get more ideas and probably done something else for the final
product. I also feel like doing a movie podcast would have been
more easier but I wanted to challenge myself.
5. TIME MANAGEMENT
• I managed my time reasonably. I had to make some extra time
to finish work but I managed to get it done in time. I feel like
my product might have been improved if my time was
extended. If I had more time to do it I would have fixed some
sound editing problems to make it sound better. I was against a
clock for most of the time and was having trouble finishing
before the end of the lesson. But my time was extended and I
managed to finish my project in time for it to be handed in.
7. AURAL QUALITIES
• I believe my work sounds at least mildly decent and I like the
music that is played over certain parts of the dialogue and I
thought the ending was funny. I tried to make it as creative as I
could which worked in some parts. I would like to improve the
editing to make it sound better and add more music to certain
parts to make it sound brighter and more creative.
8. AUDIENCE APPEAL
I feel I have appealed to my target audience by
discussing mature and sophisticated topics,
such as lenses, filters and angles. The dialogue
is very mature as well and has a very adult feel
to it in the way the topics are discussed. They
sound complicated and to those who are not
matured enough to understand.
10. FEEDBACK 1 DANNY
• What did you like about the product?
– The music that was used underneath the background was upbeat and
cool. The sound effects that were used were great such as the news
report at the start. The information that was talked about was
interesting and made me want to know more.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
– The comedy bit didn’t suit the radio. It would have been better if it
didn’t have any swearing or shouting. The length of the radio should
have been longer.
11. FEEDBACK 2 SAM
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the information that was given about photography. This was
clearly a well made script. It suited the target audience which was
18+. The music that was played underneath the dialogue was ok.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
-The comedy part wasn’t needed and ruined the radio
12. FEEDBACK 3 HARRIET
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the comedy part in the radio. It was a little funny sketch
which made the radio fun. The sound effects that were used were
also great. The transitions suited the tone of the radio.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
– The information was boring and tedious. Nothing was interesting
to me about photography.
13. PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree that the ending felt out of place and it could have been
longer.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– That the information about the topics was boring and
uninteresting.
14. PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY
I would have changed the ending
to make it more serious and less
out of place. I would find away to
make the ending funny without
the swearing.
