Lone Star Conference ac on con nues with five teams - Angelo State, Tarleton State, Texas A&M-Kingsville,
West Texas A&M, and Western New Mexico - with one loss in league play.
LSC games con nue this week with a pair of mid-week matches, and a full slate on Friday and Saturday.
LSC volleyball teams are 84-63 overall this season. The squads are currently 15-9 combined versus Rocky
Mountain Athle c Conference teams, and 18-5 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues
in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Lauren Frye, Eastern New Mexico University, SR, Amissville, Va., Highland HS
Frye matched a career-high with 28 kills in the four set victory over Cameron on Saturday, hi ng an even .500 on
42 swings. In the win over New Mexico Highlands, she hit .370 with 25 kills, including a 1.000 swing percentage
in the first set on seven kills. Frye led the team to a 2-1 record and helped pick up the first conference win. For
the week, she averaged 5.23 kills per set with a .315 hi ng percentage.
DEFENSIVE
Ashley Mireles, Texas A&M University-Commerce, SR, Georgetown, Texas, Georgetown HS/N.M. State
Mirales paced the Lions defensively as they were the only LSC team to pick up three wins last week. She
remains the LSC leader in digs per set (5.19) a er a strong week with 22 digs versus Texas Woman’s, 20 against
Texas A&M-Kingsville and 13 versus St. Edward’s. For the week, she averaged 4.58 digs per match and helped
hold opponents to a .147 hi ng percentage. Mirales has double-digit digs in 13 of 14 matches this season.
SETTER
Melanie Hughes, Western New Mexico University, JR, Riverside, Calif., Mar n Luther King, Jr. HS
Hughes set the table with 40 assists (6.67 per set) and added two kills, two service aces and 10 digs in the two
wins over the weekend. She opened the week with a 24-assist match against Cameron along with two service
aces and seven digs. In a 6-2 offense, Hughes helped the team to strong hi ng percentages of .369 and .338
against CU and Midwestern State, respec vely.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Hailey Roberts, Tarleton State University, con nued her torrid offensive pace with 67 kills to improve her
na onal lead in kills per set (5.58) and move into second place in the na on in total kills (251). She also reached
a new career milestone as she moved into second place on the school’s all- me kills list with 1,488 career kill
shots. The junior outside hi er had at least 17 kills in all three matches last weekend, including 31 against West
Texas A&M in The Box. She followed up her 31-kill performance on Friday by landing 19 kills on a .400 hi ng
percentage against UT Permian Basin on Saturday. Roberts also had double-double performances against
Angelo State and West Texas A&M. She totaled 30 digs in three matches for the week while also adding three
assists, one service ace, and four total blocks.
Brianna Sotello , Angelo State University, played a key role in the Belles offensive a ack this week. The junior
outside hi er tallied 45 total kills for the week. She led the team in the category against both Tarleton State
with 16 kills and West Texas A&M with a season high 22 kills. She has now marked nine matches this season
with double-digit kills. Against the three opponents she averaged 4.09 kills per set, recorded a .296 clip and
co-led the team with four total service aces. Assis ng the ASU defense, Sotello marked a team second 27 digs
and team third seven total blocks.
Daisge Smith, Texas A&M University-Commerce, led the Lions offensively, hi ng .395 and picking up double-
doubles (kills & digs) in all three matches...the Lions were the only team to pick up three wins this week...
Krystal Faison, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, paced the way for Texas A&M-Kingsville with 41 kills and six
service aces in the four matches this weekend. The junior recorded her sixth and seventh double-double this
season when she registered 15 kills and 12 digs against St. Mary’s, followed by 12 kills and 14 digs against A&M-

Commerce.
Samantha Haupeakui, Western New Mexico, hit a
solid .481 with 15 kills to just two errors in 27 swings.
She also con nued her strong play at the net on
defense with six more blocks and added three digs.
Haupeakui opened the week in style with a 10 kill
performance against Cameron in which she hit .529
and in that same match she added four blocks and
accounted for 12 points. She posted 18 total points in
the two matches.
Kiley Beaver, Midwestern State University, led
the Mustangs with a .362 hi ng percentage in
three matches last week. Beaver posted 2.09 kills
per set for 23 kills while commi ng just six errors
in 47 a empts for the MSU offense. The Wichita
Falls na ve tallied a career-high 15 kills to lead the
Mustangs to a 3-0 sweep of Cameron at Aggie Gym,
hi ng .440 for the match. Beaver also put together
a strong performance against Western New Mexico
with five kills and zero errors on seven swings.
Adrianna Knutson, Tarleton State University,
con nued to lead the Tarleton defense from the
libero posi on. The sophomore defender led the
way with 53 digs for the TexAnn defense, including a
career high 30 digs in Tarleton’s five-set victory over
West Texas A&M in Canyon Friday night. Knutson also
dished out 11 assists and landed two service aces in
Tarleton’s three games. She also went all three games
with a serve-receive error.
Jennifer Mar nez, Eastern New Mexico University,
was placed in the middle of the Greyhounds’ defense
an hour before the match against New Mexico
Highlands. Playing a new posi on, the redshirt
freshman tallied seven blocks in the winning effort.
Addi onally, Mar nez nearly eclipsed double-digit
kills against Midwestern State and Cameron, picking
up nine and seven, respec vely.
Elisa Bentsen, West Texas A&M University,
con nued to lead the Lady Buffs this past weekend
as the senior middle blocker registered 23 kills on 51
swings with just seven a ack errors to hit .314 on the
weekend as WT went 1-1 to improve to 7-5 (3-1 LSC).
The Hesperia, California na ve remained a force at
the net as she registered 11 total blocks (four solo,
seven assisted) to average 1.10 per set to con nue
to lead the Lone Star Conference. Bentsen registered
13 kills on 25 swings with three errors to hit .400 on
Saturday a ernoon in a fie set win over #8 Angelo
State.
Shannon Rich, Western New Mexico, led the
team with nine blocks, including one solo in a pair of
conference sweeps this weekend. She led the team
in points with 20 and also added 13 kills, two service
aces, an assist and five digs. Rich had a big match in
the win over Cameron pos ng four blocks, one solo,
along with 10 kills, hit .714, a service ace and two
digs. She did one be er in the block department with
five against Midwestern State. For the week, Rich
averaged 1.50 blocks and 3.33 points per set. On the
season she has 54 blocks, good for a 1.10 average per
set.
Lexi Wick, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, was
dominant defensively this weekend with a team high
of 54 points behind her 19 blocks including five of
them in a solo effort. Wick averaged 1.27 blocks per
set and recorded two solo blocks against St. Mary’s
and Dallas Bap st.
Morgan Seaton, Angelo State University, came up
big for the Belles defense along the net this week. The
junior turned in a team leading total of 14 blocks for
the week. This averaged the Big Spring na ve 1.27
blocks per set. She led the team in blocks for two of
the three matches, which included five blocks coming
both against Tarleton State and UT Permian Basin.
Seaton assisted the ASU a ack with 14 kills and an
ace for the week.
Meghan Parker, Angelo State University, once
again, played an integral role in se ng the Belles’
a ack, which recorded a .295 a ack percentage for
the week. With 132 total assists for the week, Parker
averaged 12.00 assist per set. The freshman se er
marked a career high 61 assists in ASU’s five set
ba le with West Texas A&M. from the service line,
the San Antonio na ve dropped in a team second
three service aces. She con nues to lead the LSC with
607 total assist and an average of 11.90 assists per
set. Defensively, Parker added 15 total digs and two
blocks to her 2016 numbers.
Jordyn Keamo, Tarleton State University, con nued
to stay in the na onal top-10 in assists per set as the
junior from Hawaii passed out 128 assists in three
matches, recording double-doubles with at least
30 assists in all three. She started her week with a
30-assist, 10-dig performance against Angelo State
before making her first career trip to West Texas
A&M with 58 assists in a five-set win over the Lady
Buffs. Keamo wrapped up the week with 40 assists
in a sweep of the Falcons. She totaled 32 digs for
the week, going for 11 in each match against WT
and UTPB. She also added eight kills, two aces, three
blocks, and 11.5 points.
Casey Klobedans, Texas A&M University-Kingsville,
navigated the offense with 169 total assists and
averaged 11.27 assists per set. The Boerne resident
assisted the Hogs to a .210 hi ng percentage and
also recorded 10 kills and four service aces.
Alexis Aguirre, Eastern New Mexico University,
recorded 30+ assists in all three matches this week for
the Greyhounds and eclipsed 40 in the victory over
Cameron. In the two wins, Aguirre set the table for an
offense that hit .252 against New Mexico Highlands
and .231 against Cameron.
Rylie Fuentes, Texas A&M University-Commerce,
Lions were only LSC team to go 3-0 last week...
Fuentes was team leader in assists in 6-2 system...
Averaged over 6 assists per set and 1.92 digs per set

Angelo State
The Belles (13-2, 4-1 LSC) went 2-1 in its matches
this week sweeping Tarleton State and UT Permian
Basin, while dropping a close five set match to West
Texas A&M. Brianna Sotello (45), Mallory Blauser
(41) and Abbie Lynn (28) led the Belles a ack in kills
for the week. Freshman Tulani Titley also made big
contribu ons to the team as she recorded a team
fourth 13 kills for a .281 clip. This averaged her 1.44
kills per set. Defensively, she was second on the team
with nine total blocks. Mallory Davidson assisted ASU
on both defense and offense chalking up 12 digs and
co-leading the team with four service aces. The Belles
look to bounce back with an upcoming home match-
up against Texas A&M - Kingsville.

Eastern New Mexico
Eastern New Mexico went 2-1 this past week, picking
up victories over New Mexico Highlands (3-1) and
Cameron (3-1) while falling in five to Midwestern
State at Greyhound Arena. Senior Lauren Frye
matched a career-high in the win over Cameron with
28 kills while junior Andrea Aguilar eclipsed 1,000
digs in her career. The Greyhounds host Western New

Midwestern State
Midwestern State posted a 2-1 record on the road last
week to improve to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in Lone Star
Conference play. The Mustangs began the week with
a sweep of Cameron at Aggie Gym for their first win
in Lawton since 2013. Midwestern then rallied from a
2-1 deficit to earn a five-set victory over Eastern New
Mexico while concluding the week with a 3-0 loss to
Western New Mexico. The Mustangs wrap up their
conference road swing this weekend with matches at
Texas Woman’s and Texas A&M-Commerce.
Tarleton State
Tarleton went 2-1 last week with a pair of road wins
against West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin. The
TexAnns will host Texas A&M-Kingsville on Friday for
their only match of the week.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Texas A&M-Commerce volleyball team played
at home for the first me this season and promptly
rolled out three wins… The Lions won 3-1 matches
over Texas Woman’s, Texas A&M-Kingsville and St.
Edward’s… A&M-Commerce is now 8-6 overall and
2-2 in LSC play… In Tuesday’s win over TWU, A&M-
Commerce won by set scores of 25-20, 21-25, 25-12,
25-19… The Lions hit .175 in the match and limited
the Pioneers to a .051 hi ng percentage… Layne
Li le and Daisge Smith ed for the team lead with
12 kills apiece... Smith hit .300 in the match and Li le
earned a .238 hi ng percentage… Ashley Mireles
con nued her strong run of defensive performances
with 22 digs… Gabriela Rosa had a double-double
with 16 assists and 10 digs, while Rylie Fuentes
passed out a team-best 21 assists… Jaslyn Wacker hit
.438 in the match with eight kills and four blocks…
Neka Nelson hit .375 in the match with seven kills
and a block… In Friday’s 3-1 win over A&M-Kingsville,
the Lions won by set scores of 25-23, 11-25, 25-23,
26-24… The Lions found ways to grind out set wins
despite the Javelinas outhi ng them in terms of
percentage... A&M-Commerce hit .203 in the match,
while A&M-Kingsville hit .296… Daisge Smith led the
Lions with 14 kills with a .308 hi ng percentage and
earned a double-double by adding 13 digs… Taryn
Driver added 12 kills on a .346 hi ng percentage,
including five kills on five swings in the third set...

In Saturday’s 3-1 win over St. Edward’s, A&M-
Commerce won by set scores of 25-8, 18-25, 25-17,

for a .500 hi ng percentage… Daisge Smith and Taryn

Texas A&M-Kingsville went .500 on the week a er
four matches against St. Mary’s, A&M-Commerce,
Texas Woman’s and Dallas Bap st. The Hogs went
2-0 on Saturday to improve to 12-3 overall and 3-1
in LSC play. TAMUK will have a tall task this upcoming
weekend when they take on Tarleton State and No.
13 Angelo State to end its six-match road trip.
Texas Woman’s
TWU dropped a pair of Lone Star matchups against
Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas A&M-Kingsville last
week, each in four sets.

West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs went 1-1 this past weekend as they
fell to Tarleton State in a five-set thriller in Canyon
on Friday night before rebounding with a five-set win
over rival #8 Angelo State on Saturday at The Box. WT
now sits at 7-5 overall with a 3-1 mark in LSC play.
WT was led offensively by Cori Haley with 27 kills
on 75 swings with 10 a ack errors to hit .227 on the
weekend as she set a new career high with 19 kills
against the Belles. Elisa Bentsen con nued to impress
as she registered 23 kills while hi ng .314 on the
weekend to go along with 11 total blocks to average
1.10 per set. The Lady Buffs head to Odessa, Texas
on Tuesday night for a matchup with UT Permian
Basin followed by two more home matches this
weekend against Western New Mexico and Eastern
New Mexico at The Box.
Western New Mexico
The Lady Mustangs had a strong beginning to
their home schedule sweeping both Cameron and
Midwestern State. In addi on to top performances
from nominees Melanie Hughes, Samantha
Haupeakui and Shannon Rich, Morgan Lyneis had 16
kills and four blocks and Heather Verrill posted 14
kills and five blocks, with two coming solo. Hughes
set the table with 40 assists and also added two kills,
two service aces and 10 digs in the two wins over
the weekend. She opened the week with a 24-assist
match against Cameron and in that same match
