LSC VOLLEYBALL
Texas Woman’s, Tarleton State, and Angelo State lead the Lone Star Conference standings with identical 6-1
league marks.
LSC volleyball teams are 104-65 overall this season. The squads are currently 19-7 combined versus Rocky
Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 17-7 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues
in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Hailey Roberts, Tarleton State University, SO, Cedar Park, Texas, Cedar Park HS
Roberts’ phenomenal season continued last week as the sophomore from Cedar Park led Tarleton to two more
wins and moved the TexAnns into a tie for first-place with their eight consecutive wins. Roberts totaled 54 kills
for an average of 7.71 kills per set to lead Tarleton to a sweep of Cameron Friday night and a four-set win over
Midwestern State Saturday. In addition to landing 54 kills, she boasted a .325 hitting percentage and had her
fifth career 30-kill game after a 24-kill performance against Cameron in Friday night’s sweep. She now has 10
games this season with at least 20 kills. Roberts also added two assists, three aces, 14 digs, two blocks, and
58.5 points for Tarleton.
DEFENSIVE
Katie MacLeay, Angelo State University, SR, San Antonio, Texas, Brandeis HS
Anchoring the defense for the Belles, MacLeay’s 7.67 digs per set played a major part in holding this week’s
opponents to a .086 clip in two consecutive sweeps. She added a total of 46 digs this week to her season total
which now sits at 429. She has now marked 13 matches with 20 or more digs and leads both ASU and the
conference in both total digs and in digs per set (6.03). The senior libero is also top five nationally in total digs
for the season. Along with her defensive contributions MacLeay also distributed the ball 10 times this week for
ASU. She leads the Belles with 15 service aces on the year.
SETTER
Maggi Jo Keffury , Angelo State University, SR, Arroyo, California, Arroyo Grande
Dishing out the ball for Angelo State this week, Keffury complied 79 assist averaging her 13.17 assist per set.
Her efforts aided the Belles to a .225 team hitting percentage on the week. The setter and chalked up 11
matches this season with over 40 assists and is currently leading the LSC in total assist (840) and is second in
assists per set (11.67). The senior also aided the defense with 22 digs and a 3.67 dig per set average holding
opponents to a .086 clip for the week. She has marked eight matches this week with double digit digs.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Brianna Sotello , Angelo State University, Once again Sotello was a force for the Belles attack assisting the
squad to two consecutive sweeps this past week. The sophomore marked double-doubles in each of the two
matches bringing her to a total of 13 on the season. With an outstanding .338 hitting percentage she averaged
5.67 kills per set this week. She tallied 34 kills on the week with a season high 22 kills and a .487 hitting
percentage coming against Cameron. The outside hitter also made major contributions to the ASU defense with
31 total digs and a 5.17 digs per set average on the week.
Lauren Frye, Eastern New Mexico University, Frye once again led the Greyhounds offensively,scoring one
third of the teams kills over the three game stretch and finishing with a team leading .293 hitting percentage.
Frye’s play helped ENMU overcome West Texas 3-1, beating the Lady Buffs for the first time since 2004.
Valarie Moehrig, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, Valarie Moehrig paces Texas A&M-Kingsville with 66 kills
and 3.88 k/s while leading the team to a 4-1 record including two Lone Star Conference victories. After posting
seven kills in a sweep of New Mexico Highlands, she recorded 11 kills on 20 attacks and no errors for a .550
attack percentage. Moehrig followed with a 17-kill performance while hitting .303 at Eastern New Mexico. She
paced the Javelinas with 18 kills as they defeated West Texas A&M for the first time since 2004 and only eighth
time in school history. She closed the week with 13 kills against Newman. Moehrig also added 13 digs and six
blocks during the week.

Mallory Kuechle, Texas Woman’s University, help
the Pioneers to two three-set wins with a team-best
18 kills, 23 digs and 19.5 points. She led the team
with 10 kills and l2 digs in a 3-0 win over St. Mary’s
and then added 8 kills and 11 digs in a sweep against
Texas A&M-Commerce. Kuechle also hit .250 in the
both games and recorded three total blocks. On the
season she has 119 kills and a team-best 209 digs.
Jaryn Wacker, Texas A&M University-Commerce,
had her best match of the season recording individual
match highs in kills, attacks, and blocks. The freshman
from Austin, Texas stepped up big this weekend
leading the Lions in points scored although falling to
Texas Woman’s.
Matti Dix, Midwestern State University, averaged
6.00 digs per set as the Mustangs went 1-2 on the
week. In a win over Southern Nazarene, Dix finished
one dig shy of her career high with 31 while totaling
a career-best four service aces. Dix finished with 72
digs with just one reception error in 12 sets against
the Crimson Storm and conference leaders Angelo
State and Tarleton State. On the season, Dix has 348
digs for third best in the LSC while ranking fourth with
4.41 per set.
Brett Zaccardo, Texas A&M University-Kingsville,
helped hold Texas A&M-Kingsville’s opponents to
a .130 attack percentage in five matches last week.
She finished with 89 digs for an outstanding average
of 5.24 per set. Her performance helped prevent the
opposition hitting above .160 but just once. In the
Javelinas first victory over West Texas A&M since
2004, she came up with 30 digs to come one shy of
tying her career-high. Zaccardo also finished with 14
assists, five service aces and a kill during the week.
Ayssa Garcia, Tarleton State University, continued
her defensive dominance last week as the senior
libero totaled 36 digs in seven sets for an average of
5.14 to lift the TexAnns to wins over Cameron and
Midwestern State en route to an eight-game winning
streak. After recording 14 digs in Friday’s sweep of
Cameron, Garcia went for her fifth 20-dig game of the
season and second in as many weeks – totaling 22
against Midwestern State Saturday. Tarleton’s Garcia-
led defense held Cameron and Midwestern State to
just a .041 hitting percentage in two games.
Courtney Lawson, Eastern New Mexico University,
helped the Greyhounds to a 1-2 record over the
week, with their lone win coming against rival West
Texas. She finished the week with a .920 receiving
percentage on 75 attempts and was second on the
team with 42 digs. She also pitched in on offense,
recording 17 kills and six service aces.
Courtney Tate, Texas A&M University-Commerce,
played great on the defensive end in the lone match
for A&M-Commerce Lions this week. Tate had 11 digs
which was tied to lead the team. She also added a
block with no errors.
Chandler Gow, Tarleton State University, continued
to lead the league’s top offense last week as the
sophomore setter racked up 90 assists in seven
sets for an average of 12.8 assists per set in wins
over Cameron and Midwestern State. The TexAnns
defeated the Aggies and Mustangs to push their
winning streak to eight as Gow and the Tarleton
offense hit .230 for the week. She went for 30 assists
in both games, including a 53-assist effort against
Midwestern State Saturday for her fifth 50-assist
effort of the season. The sophomore from Mansfield
also had a double-double in both games last week,
going for 37 assists and 10 digs against the Aggies and
53 assists and 12 digs against the Mustangs. For the
week, Gow totaled 90 assists, six kills, one ace, 22
digs, and two blocks.
Alexis Aguirre, Eastern New Mexico University,
with a team leading 122 assists, she helped her team
to a 1-3 record over the week with a win over rival
West Texas, the first win over the Lady Buffs since
2004. In the match she recorded 47 assists, a new
career high.
Casey Klobedans, Texas A&M University-Kingsville,
finished with 175 assists for an average of 10.29 a set
in five matches for Texas A&M-Kingsville. She finished
with over 40 assists twice, both coming against LSC
opponents, as the team recorded a .238 hitting
percentage. Klobedans recorded a double-double of
41 assists and 10 digs in the Javelinas first win over
West Texas A&M since 2004. She fell one dig shy of
double-doubles against New Mexico Highlands (35
assists, 9 digs) and Oklahoma Panhandle State (23
assists, 9 digs). For the week, Klobedans added 20
kills with a .314 attack percentage, 38 digs, 11 blocks
and four service aces.
Joey Redwine, Texas Woman’s University, recorded
55 assists and helped the Pioneers to two three-set
wins. She ran a 5-1 offense and recorded 31 assists
against St. Mary’s and then had 24 assists against
Texas A&M-Commerce. With Redwine’s leadership
the Pioneers posted a .236 hitting percentage in the
two games and picked up their fifth and sixth straight
wins.
Courtney Tate, Texas A&M University-Commerce,
played well on both the defensive and offensive side
of the net. Although swept, Tate had 23 assists, 7.67
per set, and also a hitting percentage of .833 on five
kills.

Eastern New Mexico
For the first time in over a decade, the ENMU volleyball
team beat rival West Texas A&M University 3-1 (25-
20, 25-16, 17-25, 25-20) Tuesday, also getting their
first conference win. The win, the first for Sia Poyer as
ENMU’s head coach, couldn’t have come at a better
time, as it followed the ENMU Alumni Match the
previous week. The Greyhounds had only beaten WT
twice before and hadn’t taken more than one set in any
of their losses to the Lady Buffs since 2004. Following
the win over the Lady Buffs, the Greyhounds played
host to a rare volleyball doubleheader, taking on Texas
A&M University-Kingsville and Newman University
Friday. The Jets pulled off a 3-0 straight set win over
ENMU (25-27, 19-25, 21-25). Following the loss the
Greyhounds lost a close one to the Javelinas, ending
in a final score of 3-1 (16-25, 22-25, 25-16, 17-25).

Lauren Frye led the team on offense over the three
game stretch, recording 46 kills and 10 total blocks.
She finished the home stand with 4.18 kills per set.
Amanda Dietz and Brooklyn Biel combined for 54 kills
(28 and 26) and 11 total blocks (five and six). Courtney
Lawson finished the week with 17 kills and 42 digs.
Andrea Aguilar led the team in digs with 52, while
Alexis Aguirre with 122 assists. Her 47 assists against
the Lady Buffs set a new career-high for a single match.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State went 1-2 on the week, snapping
its 10-match losing skid with a 3-2 win over Southern
Nazarene at home Tuesday. The Mustangs faced LSC
leaders Angelo State and Tarleton State on the road
last weekend, falling to the Rambelles 3-0 before a 3-1
setback to the TexAnns. Midwestern continues its road
swing this weekend with trips to West Texas A&M and
Eastern New Mexico.
Tarleton State
Tarleton pushed its winning streak to eight in a row last
week following wins against Cameron and Midwestern
State. The TexAnns will be home this weekend for
two games against Texas Woman’s and Texas A&M-
Commerce Friday and Saturday.
Texas A&M-Commerce

Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville went 4-1 last week, all taking
place away from home... The Javelinas defeated
Eastern New Mexico, New Mexico Highlands,
Oklahoma Panhandle State and West Texas A&M... The
victory over the Lady Buffs was the first since 2004 and
only eighth ever.. Valarie Moehrig led the team with
66 kills and 3.88 k/s... Krystal Faison finished with 56
kills, 3.29 k/s, 61 digs, 3.59 d/s and seven aces... Ashley
Bukowski added 52 kills, 3.06 k/s and a team best .287
attack percentage... Casey Klobedans was credited with
175 assists (10.29 a/s)... 86 of the assists came against
LSC foes... Haley Hutchinson finished with 17 blocks,
five of them solo... Adding 15 rejections was Madison

for their annual Dig Pink match.
Texas Woman’s
TWU swept both games last week to improve its
record to 14-3 on the season and 6-1 in the Lone Star
Conference. Junior Mallory Kuechle led the Pioneers
with 18 kills, 23 digs and 19.5 points. Senior Joey
Redwine recorded 55 assists while the team posted
a .236 hitting percentage. Senior Hillary Shaffer also
had 17 kills and while junior Sara Oxford and freshman
Makayla Mayfield added 14 kills each in the two games.
Mayfield also had a team-best eight service aces and
21 digs. On the season she is the team leader with
167 kills and 21 service aces while Shaffer leads the
Pioneers with 52 blocks and Kuechle is the leaders with
209 digs. Redwine has 546 assists on the season.
West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs went 1-2 this past week as they fell to
Eastern New Mexico and Texas A&M-Kingsville in Lone
Star Conference action before finishing off the week
with an impressive sweep over Newman University. WT
enters this week with an overall record of 8-10 with a
1-6 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The Lady Buffs
return to action this weekend as they host Midwestern
State in a Highway 287 Challenge showdown on Friday
night (6 p.m.) at The Box followed by a matchup with
the Cameron Aggies on Saturday afternoon starting at
2 p.m. in Canyon. The Mustangs (5-16, 0-2 LSC) have
dropped their last two contests to Tarleton State and
Angelo State while the Aggies (13-3, 4-3 LSC) started
out the season a perfect 13-0 before dropping their last
three contests to Texas Woman’s, Tarleton State and
Angelo State.
