LSC VOLLEYBALL
Texas Woman’s moved to the top of the Lone Star Conference standings with a 5-1 league mark. Cameron,
Tarleton State, and Angelo State are just behind TWU with 4-1 conference records.
LSC volleyball teams are 91-55 overall this season. The squads are currently 18-7 combined versus Rocky
Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 14-6 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues
in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Valarie Moehrig, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, JR, LaVernia, Texas, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
Moehrig led Texas A&M-Kingsville with 41 kills and 3.73 kills per set. She also added 26 digs (2.36 per set), three
assists and two blocks during the week. After recording a 10-kill performance at St. Mary’s, Moehrig paced the
Javelinas with 18 kills and a .341 hitting percentage and recorded her first career double-double with 13 digs
in the win over then 24th-ranked Angelo State. She concluded the week with her second consecutive double-
double (13 kills, 12 digs) against Tarleton State.
DEFENSIVE
Ayssa Garcia, Tarleton State University, SR, San Antonio, Texas, Johnson HS
Garcia was a defensive force for the TexAnns last week as the senior libero from San Antonio lifted Tarleton to
back-to-back wins over St. Edward’s and Texas A&M-Kingsville to push Tarleton’s winning streak to six. She led
the team with 37 digs, averaging 5.29 digs per set in seven sets. The senior also added six assists for the week.
Garcia led the TexAnn defense that held the Hilltoppers and Javelinas to a combined hitting percentage of .036
in two games.
SETTER
Joey Redwine, Texas Woman’s University, SR, Decatur, Texas, Decatur HS
Redwine ran a 5-1 offense and helped the Pioneers pick up two road conference wins including a victory at
previously unbeaten Cameron and move into first place in the LSC standings. She posted 74 assists in the two
games and 10.5 assists per set while the team posted a .230 hitting percentage. Redwine also had 10 kills, five
service aces and 19 digs including four service aces and 12 digs against Cameron. She led both games in assists
and is the team leader with 491 assists on the season.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Hailey Roberts, Tarleton State University, dominance of the 2015 season continued last week as the
sophomore from Cedar Park lifted Tarleton to back-to-back wins over St. Edward’s and Texas A&M-Kingsville on
the road. Roberts blasted 29 kills in six sets of action last weekend, including 18 against the Hilltoppers and 11
against the Javelinas to extend her streak of consecutive matches with double-digit kills to 24 straight games. In
addition to her offensive onslaught, Roberts added six aces, 17 digs, two blocks, and a team-high 36.0 points.
Mallory Blauser, Angelo State University, led ASU with 18 kills in the Belles only match of the week. This
brought her to a total of 259 for the season, which is currently second in the conference and fourth in the
nation. The junior’s 3.98 kill per set average places her third overall in the LSC.
Lauren Frye, Eastern New Mexico University, had yet another 20 plus kill match, leading her Greyhounds to
a five set standoff against (at the time) No. 1 in the LSC Cameron University. Frye has at least 10 kills in every
match this season except for two.
Cori Haley, West Texas A&M University, had a monster week as the Lady Buffs went 3-0 with wins over
Midwestern State, Oklahoma City University and Southwestern Oklahoma State to move to 7-8 with a 1-4 mark
in LSC play. Haley registered a career high 17 kills on 37 swings with just three attack errors to hit .378 against
SWOSU on Saturday night as the Lady Buffs ran their win streak to three matches.
Sara Oxford, Texas Woman’s University, helped the Pioneers to two road conference wins including a victory
at previously unbeaten Cameron and move into first place in the LSC standings. She led the offense with 23
kills and 26 points while hitting .317. Oxford recorded double-digit kills in both games last week and had just
four errors in 60 attempts. She led both games in kills with 11 against Midwestern and 12 against Cameron.

Makayla Mayfield, Texas Woman’s University,
led the Pioneers’ defense that recorded two road
conference wins including a victory at previously
unbeaten Cameron and move into first place in the
LSC standings. She recorded a team-best 30 digs and
4.29 digs per set. Mayfield led the team with 14 digs
at Midwestern State and 16 digs at Cameron. She
also posted a .971 serve receive percentage on 34
attempts. On the season Mayfield leads the team
with 153 kills, 3.06 kills per set and 170.5 points. She
is third in digs (167) and service aces (13).
Brianna Sotello, Angelo State University, fired in
14 kills and assisted the Belles defense with 14 digs
and six total blocks in the only match of the week.
The double-double was her ninth of the season and
is currently the team leader in this category. The
outside hitter’s six blocks set a new season high. She
has marked 11 matches this season for Angelo State
with double digit digs. Sotello is second on the team
with 212 total digs, 3.21 dig per set, and third on the
team with 29 total blocks on the season.
Jenna Gillean, Cameron University, continued to
impress with 12 total blocks while helping hold teams
to a .133 hitting percentage in 12 sets played. She
came up with six total blocks on Saturday against
Texas Woman’s and had three against Texas A&M-
Commerce and Eastern New Mexico. Gillean also
provided CU plenty of stability on offensive end with
35 kills and a .346 hitting percentage. On Tuesday,
against Eastern New Mexico it was the combination
of her work on both ends of the court where ENMU
hit .104 and she had 17 kills that led to the Aggies
comeback in five sets over the Greyhounds. On
Friday, at home against A&M-Commerce she helped
hold the Lions to a .090 hitting percentage while
Gillean hit .412 in a short three set match. In her
freshman season Gillean has 49 total blocks and is
part of an Aggie defense that leads the LSC by holding
teams to a league low .129 attack percentage.
HaleyHutchinson,TexasA&MUniversity-Kingsville,
led Texas A&M-Kingsville in total blocks (17) and solo
rejections (5). She also paced the Javelinas with a .283
attack percentage while recording 21 kills (1.91 k/s).
In the upset victory over Angelo State, Hutchinson
finished with six blocks, two of them solo. The next
day versus Tarleton State, she set a new career high
with eight rejections and three solo blocks while
holding the TexAnns to a .110 attack percentage.
Opponents hit just .138 against the Javelinas in three
matches last week.
Casey Klobedans, Texas A&M University-Kingsville,
helped set up the attack for Texas A&M-Kingsville
that went 2-1 with an upset victory over then 24th-
ranked Angelo State. She finished with 116 assists
and averaged 10.55 per set. At St. Mary’s, Klobedans
finished with 38 assists in the victory sweep. A
double-double of 41 assists and 11 digs was recorded
by her against the Rambelles, along with four kills and
blocks. In four sets against Tarleton State, she was
credited with 37 assists, five digs and three blocks.
Maggi Jo Keffury, Angelo State University,
distributed the ball 40 times in Angelo State only
match. This was her seventh game this season with 40
or more assists and solidified her into seventh place
on the all-time Angelo State assist list with 2,214. The
senior is top ten in the national in assist and has help
the Belles reach third in the nation with 13.63 assists
per set. In the LSC, she leads with 761 total assist and
in second with an 11.53 assists per set average.
Alexis Aguirre, Eastern New Mexico University,
recorded a career high 46 assists as well as 20 digs
in the match, for her second double-double of the
season. Her 46 assists helped the Greyhounds take
LSC unbeaten (at the time) Cameron to a fifth set.
Macie Walker, Tarleton State University, made
a crucial impact for Tarleton in a key conference
road match at Texas A&M-Kingsville. After a mild
injury forced Chandler Gow out of the game, Walker
stepped in and recorded her second career 30-assists
effort to lift the TexAnns over Texas A&M-Kingsville
Saturday. Walker had 34 assists in the final three sets,
which were all Tarleton wins. For the week, she also
added two kills and seven digs.

Angelo State
In its only match of the week, No. 24 Angelo State
volleyball fell to Texas A&M – Kingsville on the road
Friday night 3-1 (25-21, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22) and
saw its nine-match winning streak come to an end
in four sets. Mallory Blauser led the ASU attack with
18 kills. Brianna Sotello fired in 14 kills and assisted
the Belles defense with 14 digs and six total blocks.

Keffury distributed the ball 40 times this week which
and solidified her into seventh place on the all-time
Angelo State assist list with 2,214.
Cameron
In week 5 of the season, the Cameron volleyball team
now sits at 13-1 overall and 4-1 in LSC play after
defeating Eastern New Mexico and Texas A&M—
Commerce but falling to Texas Woman’s. The Aggies
began the week on Sept. 29 with a comeback victory
over Eastern New Mexico in five sets (22-25, 22-25,
25-12, 25-15, 15-9). Freshman Jenna Gillean led the
Aggies with a career high 17 kills and a .389 attacking
percentage. Senior Kat Evans followed up with 12
kills and 12 digs for her eighth double-double of the
year. Sophomore Cristina Viera contributed 18 digs,
while freshman Tori Luckenbill had 43 assists for the
Ags. Cameron followed up with a sweep of Texas
A&M—Commerce (25-14, 25-18, 25-20) on Oct. 2.
Evans and Gillean led the CU offense, each notching
eight kills. Additionally, Gillean had a team high
attacking percentage of .412. Luckenbill contributed
22 assists to the Aggies, and Viera led the Black and
Gold defense with 15 digs. Cameron would fall the
next day, Oct. 3, to Texas Woman’s (19-25, 25-20, 19-
25, 20-25). Evans recorded her ninth double-double
of the year by contributing eleven kills and 16 digs
for the Ags. Gillean followed up with ten kills, and
freshman Kayla Allen had nine. Luckenbill recorded
25 assists on the match, while Viera led the Black and
Gold defense with 22 digs.

0-1 last week.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State suffered conference losses to
West Texas A&M, Texas Woman’s and Texas A&M-
Commerce while also dropping a non-conference
match to Dallas Baptist at home this week to fall
to 4-14, 0-5 LSC on the season. The Mustangs look
to bounce back Tuesday when they host Southern
Nazarene (Okla.) at 6 p.m. at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
Tarleton State
Tarleton pushed its winning streak to six last week
with back-to-back road wins over St. Edward’s and
Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Texas Woman’s
TWU picked up two wins on the road and improved to
12-3ontheseasonand5-1intheLoneStarConference.
The Pioneers defeated the host Midwestern State,
25-15, 25-17, and 25-20, on Friday before handed the
host Cameron its first loss of the season in four sets,
25-19, 20-25, 25-19, and 25-20, Saturday afternoon.
Junior Sara Oxford led the offense with 23 kills and
26 points while hitting .317. She recorded double-
digit kills in both games last week and had just four
errors in 60 attempts. Freshman Makayla Mayfield
was the leader on defense with a team-best 30 digs
and 4.29 digs per set while senior Joey Redwine ran a
5-1 offense and posted 74 assists and 10.5 assists per
set. Junior Mallory Kuechel had 20 kills, 27 digs, five
blocks and .377 hitting percentage. On the season
Mayfield leads the team with 153 kills and 170.5
points while Redwine is the leader with 491 assists.
Kuechle and senior Torie Talkington are tied for
first with 186 digs while Talkington has a team-best
16 service aces. Senior Hillary Shaffer is the leader
with 49 total blocks. TWU has five players with 101
kills are more, five players with 98 digs or more, five
players with 25 total blocks or more and four players
with 10 service aces or more this season.
West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M will look to
continue their winning ways on Tuesday night as they
head down Highway 60 for a Lone Star Conference
matchup with the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New
Mexico with first serve set for 7 p.m. CT at Greyhound
Arena. The Lady Buffs enter the week on a three
match win streak with an overall mark of 7-8 with
a 1-4 mark in LSC play. WT registered their third
straight victory on Saturday night as they dropped
the first frame before responding to roll the Bulldogs
of Southwestern Oklahoma State (20-25, 25-15, 25-
19, 25-14) in front of over 500 fans at the WTAMU
Fieldhouse “”The Box”” in Canyon, Texas. Earlier in
the afternoon, the Lady Buffs swept past Oklahoma
City University (27-25, 25-21, 25-11).
