LSC VOLLEYBALL
Tarleton State, Angelo State, and West Texas A&M jumped to the top of the standings with a perfect opening
week of Lone Star Conference play.
LSC volleyball teams are 44-28 overall this season. The squads are currently 15-11 combined versus Rocky
Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 2-4 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues
in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Abbie Lynn, Angelo State University, FR, Amarillo, Texas, Amarillo HS
Lynn is off to a productive freshman season with 82 kills in her first eight matches with the Angelo State
volleyball team. She led the Belles with 18 kills last Saturday in a four-set win over Midwestern State and also
supplied 15 in a four-set win over Texas Woman’s and had 10 in a sweep of Cameron. Lynn hit .301 and also
produced seven blocks last week for the Belles.
DEFENSIVE
Kenya Alexander, Tarleton State University, JR, Fort Hood, Kan., Wyandotte HS
Alexander was a dominant force in the middle of the TexAnn rotation as the 6-4 junior lifted Tarleton State to
its current six-game winning streak, 8-1 start to the season and 3-0 beginning in LSC action. Alexander recorded
a team-high 22 blocks last week, including 16 blocks against Lone Star Conference opponents, to go along with
46 kills on a .362 hitting percentage. Her 59 blocks and 1.48 blocks per set lead the league. In her first career
LSC game Tuesday against A&M-Commerce, Alexander became the first TexAnn since 2010 to have at least 15
attacks in a game and commit no errors. She followed up that performance by recording the final two points of
the match on a block and a kill to give Tarleton a sweep of Midwestern State in Wichita Falls.
SETTER
Kameryn Hayes, West Texas A&M University, SR, Cypress, Texas, Cy-Fair HS
Hayes registered another strong weekend for the Lady Buffs as the senior setter/outside tallied 79 assists for
an average of 5.64 per set and .279 team hitting percentage while also registering 33 kills (2.36/set) and 31 digs
(2.21/set) on the weekend that saw WT go 4-0 with wins over Adelphi, Fort Lewis, American International and
Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Cypress, Texas native registered her first career triple-double on Saturday afternoon
with 10 kills, 24 assists and 11 digs in WT’s four set win over the host Javelinas in the Lone Star Conference
opener for the Lady Buffs.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Lauren Frye, Eastern New Mexico University, had a dominating performance at the Emerald Beach Hotel
Javelina Volleyball Invitational as she helped lead Eastern New Mexico to a 3-1 record. She finished with 66 kills,
a .410 attack percentage, averaged 4.40 k/s and had 12 blocks in four matches. She set a career-high in attack
percentage at .545 (15-3-22) over four sets against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Frye followed up with a career-best
22 kills in a four-set victory over Fort Lewis and ended the weekend with 19 kills and a .485 attack percentage
in a sweep versus Adelphi.
Hailey Roberts, Tarleton State University, continued the strong start to her college career last week by leading
the TexAnns to four straight wins, an 8-1 overall record and a 3-0 start in Lone Star Conference play. Roberts, a
true freshman from Cedar Park, blasted a team-high 55 kills over the last four games – including 49 against Lone
Star Conference opponents with a .280 hitting percentage against LSC opponents. Her 49 kills against the LSC
leads the league in total kills as well as kills per set (4.45). She is also tied for the league lead in LSC play with
five service aces. In Saturday’s five-set win over Cameron in Lawton, Roberts came up clutch for the TexAnns to
secure the win and push Tarleton’s winning streak to six. With the set tied 14-14 in the final set, Roberts drilled
the final two points for Tarleton State to give the TexAnns the win. She also had two double-doubles last week
with a 15-kill, 11-dig effort against Commerce and a 16-kill, 17-dig effort against Cameron.
Amy Davault, Texas A&M University - Commerce, had a big weekend she registered back to back double-doubles
on Saturday with 16 kills and 18 digs in a 3-1 loss to Arkansas Fort Smith. In a 3-2 loss to Dallas Baptist

Davault had 26 kills to go along with 24 digs. Davault
recorded 20 or more kills twice this week.
Lauren Bevan, West Texas A&M University, had
another standout weekend for the then #16 Lady
Buffs as the senior outside was named the MVP of
the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Invitational as
she registered 48 kills in WT’s four matches for a
hitting percentage of .276 while averaging 3.69 kills
per frame. The Ventura, California native tallied 16
kills twice this weekend including a pair of double-doubles.
Ashley Bukowski, Texas A&M University - Kingsville,
led the Javelinas with 41 kills in the Emerald Beach
Hotel Javelina Volleyball Invitational. She was also
named to the All-Tournament team. The sophomore
middle blocker had a season-high 41 kills, 14 blocks,
a .300 hitting percentage, and two aces over the
weekend.
Paige Holt, Cameron University, nearly had a
perfect weekend after knocking down 17 kills while
only having two errors against Angelo State and
Tarleton State. Holt had 13 straight kills which went
from Friday night against ASU to the fifth set against
Tarleton. In eight sets played she had a hitting
percentage at .384; at the net she added a pair of
solo blocks, and six block assists. The sophomore
averaged 1.875 kills per set and had 22 points for the
Aggies. Holt has been in the zone for her last four
matches overall with 24 kills, three errors, and 17
total blocks.
Morgan Wilson, Texas Woman’s University, has
dominated the defense in the last four games for
TWU. She averaged 6.69 digs per set for a total of
107 digs in the four games including a career-high
32 against Arkansas Fort Smith on Friday, Sept. 12.
Wilson has recorded 20 plus digs in six of the eight
games this season and she is 43 away from becoming
TWU’s career leader.
Shelby Wilt, Angelo State University, keeps
digging away and now has 2,022 digs in her record-setting
career at Angelo State. A senior captain, Wilt
surpassed the 2,000 dig milestone on Saturday during
a 25-dig match against Midwestern State. She also
had 19 digs in matches against Texas Woman’s and
Cameron and then provided 17 digs in a sweep of
Harding. Wilt also had four service aces last week.
Ashley Mireles, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
led the Lions in digs this last week averaging 5.17 digs
per set. This included two 30+ dig matches, and 23
digs in the win over Southern Arkansas.
Agatha Gibbons, Eastern New Mexico University,
helped lead Eastern New Mexico to a 3-1 mark at the
Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Volleyball Invitational
while recording a team-best 19 blocks, averaging 2.20
k/s and hitting .400. She began the tournament with
six kills on nine attempts for a .667 attack percentage
and had five block assists. Against Texas A&M-Kingsville,
Gibbons had three block assists while
producing eight kills and a .462 attack percentage. On
Saturday she nearly recorded her first career double-double,
finishing with nine kills and nine blocks, three
of which were solo rejections. Gibbons ended the
weekend with 10 kills, a .529 attack percentage and
two block assists.
Ashley Tipps, Texas A&M University - Kingsville,
led the Javelinas with 15 blocks in the Emerald Beach
Hotel Javelina Invitational. The senior middle blocker
had 27 kills during the tournament as well. During the
tournament, her hitting percentage was .380.
Alexa Johnson, Angelo State University, helped
lead the Angelo State volleyball team to a 4-0 record
last week with 171 assists (12.21 per set). She had a
week-high 48 assists in a four-set win over Midwestern
State and also put a 47-assist performance against
Texas Woman’s on her resume. Johnson also provide
nine kills and 38 blocks for the Belles.
Courtney Tate, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
highlight of the week was her triple-double in a 3-2
loss to Dallas Baptist. Tate had 63 assists, 10 kills, and
13 digs. She also had 55 kills in a win over Southern
Arkansas.
Emily Medlin, Tarleton State University, stepped
into the starting lineup for the TexAnns last week
and led Tarleton to four wins in her first four career
starts. The true freshman from Spring Branch had
136 assists and 8.50 assists per set over the last four
games, including 91 and 8.27 in league play. She also
totaled 18 digs, two service aces and two blocks for
the week.
Kennedi Catano, Eastern New Mexico University,
was credited with 83 assists in four matches at the
Javelina Volleyball Invitational for an average of 5.60
assists per set. She helped Eastern New Mexico hit
.227 over the weekend with a season-high .350 attack
percentage in a sweep of Adelphi. Catano had 12
assists against American International and finished
Friday with 21 assists versus the Javelinas. On the
second day of the tournament, she had a season-best
28 assists in a four-set win over Fort Lewis and 23 in
the final match against the Panthers.

Angelo State
The Belles extended their winning streak to six with
four wins last week, including going 3-0 against Lone
Star Conference competition. ASU opened LSC play
with a four-set victory over Texas Woman’s at the
Junell Center in San Angelo before sweeping Cameron
in Lawton and taking a four-set win over Midwestern
State at the D.L. Ligon Coliseum. ASU also sprinkled in
a straight-set win over Harding to go 4-0 during the
week. The Belles are back in action this week with a
Tuesday road match at Texas-Permian Basin before
hosting Texas A&M-Kingsville at 1 p.m. on Saturday at
the Junell Center.
Cameron
Cameron went 0-2 last week falling to Angelo State in
straight sets and dropped a five set heart-breaker to
Tarleton State at home. With the losses the Aggies
fell to .500 (3-3) overall and 0-2 in league play. - Paige
Holt nearly had a perfect weekend after knocking
down 17 kills while only having two errors against
Angelo State and Tarleton State. Holt had 13 straight
kills which went from Friday night against ASU to the
fifth set against Tarleton. In eight sets played she had a

Aggies. Kat Evans has had double-figure kills in her
last five matches, she is sixth best in the Lone Star
Conference by averaging 3.04 kills per set. Cameron
will host Southeastern Oklahoma on Tuesday night
before hitting the road on Friday to play Texas A&M-Commerce
and Texas Woman’s on Saturday.
Eastern New Mexico
Eastern New Mexico went 3-1 over the weekend
at the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Volleyball
Invitational with wins over Adelphi, American
International and Fort Lewis while the lone setback
was to Texas A&M-Kingsville. Sophomore right side
hitter Lauren Frye paced the Zias with 66 kills, 4.40
k/s and a .410 attack percentage. Also hitting .400
for the weekend was senior middle blocker Agatha
Gibbons with 33 kills and 2.20 k/s while pacing the
squad with 19 blocks. Frye set a career-high in attack
percentage (.545) against the hosts and a career-best
22 kills versus the Skyhawks. Gibbons nearly
recorded her first career double-double against FLC
as well, finishing with nine kills and nine blocks, three
of which were solo rejections. Senior setter Kennedi
Catano paced ENMU with 84 assists and 5.60 a/s,
moving her to within 43 of 4th place on the program’s
career list. Senior middle blocker Bree Anna Lucero
added 15 rejections and Frye had 12 to surpass the
double-digit mark. This week the Zias play just one
match which will take place on Tuesday at #20 West
Texas A&M.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State lost three straight last weekend
including Lone Star Conference setbacks to 24th-ranked
Angelo State and Tarleton State before falling
to Harding (Ark.) -- all at D.L. Ligon Coliseum... Senior
libero Casey Fletcher continues to lead the Lone Star
Conference with 6.38 digs per set... Fletcher has
logged 20-or-more digs in six of her eight matches this
season including a season-high of 36 in the season
opener against Colorado State-Pueblo... Sophomore
middle blocker Sarah Garfield rates eighth in the LSC
with 1.00 blocks per set... Thirteen of her 31.0 total
blocks have been of the solo variety which ranks as
the second highest in the league... Junior outside
hitter Nicole Marzik leads the team at 2.55 kills per set
while notching four kill/dig double-doubles including
a 10-kill, 19-dig effort Saturday against Angelo State...
Sophomore setter Sarah Rosinke ranks fourth in the
LSC with 8.56 set assists per set...
Tarleton State
Tarleton State won all four games last week,
beginning with a sweep of Texas A&M-Commerce
Tuesday in Stephenville, wrapping up with a five-set
win over Cameron Saturday in Lawton and knocking
off Midwestern State and Harding in a Friday-night
doubleheader in Wichita Falls in between. On the
season, Tarleton improved to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in
conference play. The 8-1 start to the season is the
second-best start to a season through nine games
behind only the 9-0 start to the 2010 season.

Texas A&M-Kingsville
Middle blocker Ashley Bukowski had another amazing
performance in the Javelinas second weekend of
play in the Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Volleyball
Tournament. She earned all-tourney honors after
posting 41 kills, 14 total blocks and two aces…
Ashley Tipps had a team-best 15 total blocks in the
tournament…Kelsey Washington posted 31 kills over
the weekend, second highest total on the team. …
Freshman Krystal Faison tied with Washington in
kills for the Javelinas in kills with 31 kills…Kingsville’s
season continues the season as they host the St.
Mary’s Lady Rattlers on Sept. 16.
Texas Woman’s
The TWU volleyball team is 4-4 on the season after
posting a 1-3 record last week. The Pioneers fell to
#25 Angelo State, 3-1, Arkansas Fort Smith, 3-1, and
#17 Colorado Mines, 3-1, before defeating Southern
Arkansas, 3-1. TWU was led by senior Jaqueline
Santos and freshman Elizabeth Pennington with 47
kills each. Junior Joey Redwine recorded 113 assists
including 8.69 per set while senior Morgan Wilson
dominated the defense with 6.69 digs per set for a
total of 107. Wilson posted a career-high 32 against
Arkansas Fort Smith and recorded 20 plus digs in six
of the eight games this season. She is 43 away from
becoming TWU’s career leader.

West Texas A&M
The then #16 Lady Buffs went 4-0 at this past
weekend’s Emerald Beach Hotel Javelina Invitational
with wins over Adelphi, Fort Lewis, American
International and Texas A&M-Kingsville to move to
6-2 (1-0 LSC) on the year. The Lady Buffs were led by
tournament MVP Lauren Bevan who tallied 48 kills on
the weekend including a pair of double-doubles while
fellow all-tournament team member Kameryn Hayes
dished out 79 assists on the weekend while registering
a triple-double against the host Javelinas (10 kills, 24
assists, 11 digs). The Lady Buffs will host Eastern New
Mexico on Tuesday night in Canyon followed by a trip
to Lebanon, Illinois for the McKendree Classic this
weekend with scheduled matches against Quincy,
Truman State and McKendree.
