LSC VOLLEYBALL
West Texas A&M remained unbeaten in Lone Star Conference action at 11-0, extended its league win streak
to 33 matches dating back to the 2012 season, and won its 12th straight contest this season with two victories
last week.
Texas Woman’s remains in second place with an 8-3 LSC mark, while Tarleton State and Angelo State are right
behind them at 8-4.
WT, TWU, TSU and ASU have clinched spots in the eight-team postseason tournament set for Thursday,
Friday and Saturday, November 13-14-15, at the No. 1 seed.
This week’s schedule includes league matches on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday in addition to non-conference
play.
LSC volleyball teams are 107-84 overall this season. The squads are currently 15-12 combined versus
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 12-12 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other
leagues in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Elizabeth Pennington, Texas Woman’s University, FR, Roanoke, Texas, Byron Nelson
Pennington helped the team to 2-0 record last week with team-high 33 kills and a .464 hitting percentage. She
had 20 kills in a five-set win against Dallas Baptist and then added a game-high 13 kills in a sweep against Texas
A&M-Commerce. Pennington also had eight total blocks and four service aces. On the season, she leads the
team in kills (252), hitting percentage (.345), service aces (34) and total blocks (98).
DEFENSIVE
Shelby Wilt, Angelo State University, SR, Dalhart, Texas, Dalhart HS
Wilt had 6.17 digs per set last weekend in a pair of LSC sweeps of Cameron and Midwestern State at the Junell
Center. Wilt had 21 digs against the Aggies and then 16 against the Mustangs for 37 digs during the weekend.
The senior has 344 digs this season for the Belles and is averaging 5.06 per set.
SETTER
Emily Medlin, Tarleton State University, FR, Spring Branch, Texas, Smithson Valley HS
Medlin led Tarleton State to three consecutive sweeps last week over St. Mary’s, Midwestern State and
Cameron. The freshman setter from Spring Branch posted a team-best 62 assists for 6.89 assists per set while
the TexAnn offense hit .266 over the last nine sets. Medlin also added three kills, 10 digs and a service ace.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Hailey Roberts, Tarleton State University, superb freshman campaign continued last week as the true
freshman from Cedar Park landed a team-high 38 kills in three games to lead the TexAnns to three straight
sweeps. Roberts landed 4.22 kills per set on a .266 hitting percentage as Tarleton State downed in-region foe St.
Mary’s and conference rivals Midwestern State and Cameron in straight sets to improve to 17-5 on the season.
In addition to the team-high 38 kills, she also blasted eight service aces and recorded 10 blocks for the week to
go along with 22 digs. She also recorded her team-leading 12th double-double of the season against Cameron
Saturday afternoon. The freshman is now second in the LSC in total kills with 320 this season.
Amy Davault, Texas A&M University - Commerce, led the Lions in kills this week picking up 24. This includes
a double-double in the loss to Dallas Baptist when she had 13 kills and 12 digs. Davault had a reception
percentage of .925 in the two matches this week.
Lauren Frye, Eastern New Mexico University, had 47 kills in three matches last week for Eastern New Mexico.
She averaged 3.92 k/s while hitting .315 and added five blocks, one of them solo. Frye had 12 kills with a
.222 attack percentage as the Zias fell five points short of ended the Lady Buffs LSC winning streak. Against
Texas-Permian Basin, she recorded 19 kills with a career-best .615 attack percentage while nearly matching the
Falcons’ kill total of 21 by herself. Frye ended the week with 16 kills and three digs in a five-set match versus
Texas A&M-Kingsville.

this weekend as the Javelinas swept the regular
season series versus Eastern New Mexico and
nearly upset West Texas A&M... against the Zias,
Washington recorded 23 kills and 15 digs for her fifth
double-double of the season and added five assists...
one day later, the Cuero, Texas native finished with 15
kills and three blocks against the Lady Buffs, a team
that nearly cracked the AVCA Coaches Division II Top
25 Poll.
Abbie Lynn, Angelo State University, provided 19
combined kills last weekend in Angelo State’s pair
of LSC wins over Cameron and Midwestern State
at the Junell Center. Lynn had nine kills in a sweep
of Cameron and then 10 kills in a sweep of the
Mustangs. Lynn hit .415 in the two matches and now
has 185 kills in her freshman season.
Morgan Wilson, Texas Woman’s University, led the
team with 38 digs to help the Pioneers to a 2-0 record
last week. She posted 4.75 digs per set and a .917
receive percentage. Wilson had just three errors in
36 attempts. She recorded 27 digs in a five-set win
against Dallas Baptist and then added 11 digs in a
sweep against Texas A&M-Commerce. On the season
Wilson had 445 digs and 5.24 digs per set and ranked
second in LSC in both categories.
Jasmyne Brown, Tarleton State University, recorded
one of the best weeks of her Tarleton career as the
senior led the TexAnns to three consecutive sweeps
over St. Mary’s, Midwestern State and Cameron last
week. Brown, a middle blocker from San Antonio, led
the TexAnns with 16 blocks last week, including seven
against Midwestern State to tie her career high. She
also added six digs and added 11 kills and just two
errors on 30 attempts for a .300 hitting percentage
and committed no service reception or blocking
errors in nine sets.
Stephanie Johns, Texas A&M University - Kingsville,
posted eight blocks in a five-set victory over Eastern
New Mexico to sweep the season series over the
Zias... on the week, the senior registered 13 blocks
and five digs and added 27 kills.
Delanee Clark, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
contributed 8 blocks this week and averaged 1.33
blocks per set to lead the Lions. Clark had four blocks
in the loss at Dallas Baptist and sparked a pair of runs
for the A&M-Commerce in the loss to Texas Woman’s.
Alexa Johnson, Angelo State University, had a
combined 69 assists last week in sweeps of Cameron
and Midwestern State last weekend at the Junell
Center. Johnson had 36 assists against the Aggies and
then 33 against the Mustangs. She has 635 assists
this season and is averaging 10.95 per set in her
sophomore season.
Casey Klobedans, Texas A&M University -
Kingsville, continues to post sensational numbers
in her freshman campaign, collecting 121 assists in
three games, including 53 and seven kills in a five-set
win over Eastern New Mexico on Friday... the Boerne,
Texas native added 8.0 blocks in three games.
Courtney Tate, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
led the team in assists averaging 9.50 assists per
game in the matches this week. Tate is currently first
in the LSC in total assists with 786.
Kameryn Hayes, West Texas A&M University,
continued to guide the powerful WT offense this
past week as the Lady Buffs ran their win streak to
12 matches with Lone Star Conference wins over
Eastern New Mexico and Texas A&M-Kingsville to
move to 20-3 with a perfect 11-0 mark in league play.
Hayes dished out 50 assists in two matches this past
week to average 7.14 per frame while also tallying 21
kills (3.00/set), three service aces and 15 digs on the
week. The Cypress, Texas native registered a double-double
on Tuesday night in Portales with 12 kills and
21 assists in a four set win over the rival Zias.
Kennedi Catano, Eastern New Mexico University,
was credited with 77 assists for a 6.42 per set
average as Eastern New Mexico hit .190 in three
matches. With her last assist of the week, she moved
into fourth on ENMU’s career assist list with 2,394.
Catano had 22 assists, five digs and a service ace in
a near upset of West Texas A&M. She followed up
with an astonishing 28 assists in the Zias 6-2 system
in a sweep of Texas-Permian Basin. Ending the week
against Texas A&M-Kingsville, she had 27 assists,
eight digs and a kill during the five-set match.

Angelo State
The Belles improved to 8-1 on their home court with
a pair of LSC wins over Cameron and Midwestern
State last weekend at the Junell Center. The Belles
swept both opponents and are now also 8-1 in three-set
matches. The pair of wins came after they had
dropped back-to-back matches for the first time this
season. Mallory Blauser led the Belles with 24 kills
during the weekend, while Shelby Wilt had 37 digs
and Alexa Johnson provided 69 assists from the setter
position. ASU is back in action this weekend with a
Friday night match at St. Edward’s before playing at 2
p.m. on Saturday at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Eastern New Mexico
Eastern New Mexico went 1-2 last week with a win
over Texas-Permian Basin and two conference losses
to Texas A&M-Kingsville and West Texas A&M. The
Zias came within five points of ending the Lady Buffs
LSC winning streak as the third and fourth sets were
tied at 22 and 23, respectively. ENMU easily swept
the Falcons in non-conference action and ended the
week by falling in five sets to the Javelinas. Lauren
Frye led the team with 47 kills, 3.92 k/s and .315
attack percentage. She had 19 kills and a career-high
.615 attack percentage versus UTPB as she
nearly matched their kill total (21) for the match by
herself. Lindsey Barron added 31 kills for a 2.58 k/s
and a .271 attack percentage while Courtney Lawson
had 29 kills, 2.42 k/s, 2.67 d/s and two service aces.
Andrea Aguilar posted 4.08 d/s in her first full week as
Eastern’s libero while Agatha Gibbons had 12 blocks.
This week the Zias host Cameron on Tuesday before
going to Odessa, Texas to take on Dallas Baptist and
UTPB for a doubleheader on Saturday.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State dropped its seventh and eighth
straight matches on the road falling in straight sets
to Tarleton State and Angelo State last weekend…
The Mustangs are currently tied with Texas A&M-Commerce
for the eighth and final berth in the
LSC Postseason Tournament at 2-9 with five league
matches to play… Senior defensive specialist Casey
Fletcher ranks seventh in NCAA Division II in total
digs (425) and is 25th nationally in digs per set (5.45).
Both numbers also lead the LSC… Sophomore middle
blocker Sarah Garfield ranks eighth in the LSC with
1.02 blocks per set and has at least three total blocks
in each of her last seven matches… Junior outside
hitter Nicole Marzik leads the MSU attack with 2.45
kills per set, while junior outside hitter Hunter Porter
adds 2.42 kills per frame… Sophomore setter Sarah
Rosinke ranks fifth in the LSC with 0.34 service aces
per set…
Tarleton State
Tarleton State improved to 17-5 and 8-4 in conference
play with sweeps of St. Mary’s, Midwestern State
and Cameron. This is the fourth time Tarleton has
swept three straight matches under head coach Mary
Schindler. Tarleton had three players with at least 20
kills last week, including Hailey Roberts (38), Kaitlyn
White (23) and Kenya Alexander (22). Katie Covell led
the team in digs with 40 while Emily Medlin posted
a team-high 62 assists. Tarleton hosts St. Edward’s
Tuesday at 7 p.m. and will visit Texas A&M-Kingsville
Friday.
Texas A&M-Commerce
A&M-Commerce dropped road matches to Dallas
Baptist and Texas Woman’s this week. Amy Davault
continues to creep closer to 1,000 kill milestone,
needing only 15 more kills.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville went 1-2 last week, defeating
Eastern New Mexico in a five-set thriller to sweep
the season series over the Zias... the following day,
the Javelinas nearly upset conference-leading and
undefeated West Texas A&M... The Blue and Gold
head to St. Mary’s before hosting Tarleton State and
Angelo State this weekend.
Texas Woman’s
TWU volleyball won both games last week to improve
its record to 14-7 on the season and 8-3 in the Lone
Star Conference. The Pioneers defeated Dallas
Baptist in five sets on Wednesday before sweeping
Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday. Freshman
Elizabeth Penning led the team with 33 kills and a
.464 hitting percentage while senior Morgan Wilson
led the defense with 38 digs. Junior Hillary Shaffer
was the leaders at the net with 12 total blocks.

The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ran their Lone Star
Conference win streak to 33 matches dating back to
the 2012 season and won their 12th straight contest
this season this past week with LSC wins over Eastern
New Mexico and Texas A&M-Kingsville to move to 20-3
with a perfect 11-0 mark in league play. Saturday’s
match against the Javelinas also marked the 50 Year
Reunion of the program as close to 100 former Lady
Buffs returned to The Box for a celebration event
following WT’s sweep of Texas A&M-Kingsville. The
Lady Buffs will host Midwestern State on Tuesday
night in a Highway 287 Challenge matchup in Canyon
before four non-conference matches this weekend
against Dallas Baptist, Lubbock Christian, Oklahoma
Baptist and Southwestern Oklahoma State.
