LSC VOLLEYBALL
West Texas A&M stayed perfect in Lone Star Conference action at 12-0, extended its league win streak to 34
matches dating back to the 2012 season, and won its 17th straight contest this season with five wins last week.
Texas Woman’s remains in second place at 10-3 LSC mark, while Tarleton State and Angelo State are right
behind them at 9-4.
WT, TWU, TSU and ASU have clinched spots in the eight-team postseason tournament set for Thursday,
Friday and Saturday, November 13-14-15, at the No. 1 seed.
This week’s schedule includes league matches on Friday and Saturday in addition to non-conference play.
LSC volleyball teams are 124-94 overall this season. The squads are currently 15-12 combined versus
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 18-13 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other
leagues in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Hailey Roberts, Tarleton State University, FR, Cedar Park, Texas, Cedar Park HS
Roberts was a dominant force for Tarleton State last week as the true freshman led the TexAnns to a pair of
wins over St. Edward’s, a regional rival who entered the game with a 14-2 record, and Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Roberts recorded 46 kills (6.57 per set) on back-to-back 20-kill performances with a hitting percentage of .383
in seven sets. She landed 26 kills to lead Tarleton past St. Edward’s Tuesday on a .351 hitting percentage and
added 18 digs for her team-leading 13th double-double of the season. She followed up with a 20-kill effort
Saturday at Kingsville on a .432 hitting percentage. Her line for the week totaled 46 kills and just 10 errors on 94
attack attempts. She led the team with 56.5 points and added 25 total digs, five blocks and eight service aces.
DEFENSIVE
Katie Covell, Tarleton State University, SR, Lytle, Texas, Lytle HS
Covell had an incredible week to lead Tarleton State to a pair of quality wins over St. Edward’s, who entered
the game with a 14-2 record, and Texas A&M-Kingsville. The senior libero tied her career high with 32 digs in
Tarleton’s four-set win over St. Edward’s last Tuesday. She followed up with 22 digs against the Javelinas on
Saturday. For the week, she totaled 54 digs for an average of 7.71 digs per set.
SETTER
Alexa Johnson, Angelo State University, SO, La Vista, Neb., Papillion HS
Johnson established a new career high with 57 assists last Saturday at Texas A&M-Kingsville to help lead the
Belles to a 3-1 win over the Javelinas after providing 45 assists in a non-conference win over St. Edward’s in
Austin last Friday. Johnson averaged 12.75 assists per set last weekend and now has 737 assists this season and
is averaging 11.17 assists per set in her first season with the Belles. She also supplied 30 digs last weekend and
has 152 digs on the season.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Brianna Sotello, Angelo State University, had a weekend to remember with a combined 37 kills in two matches
at St. Edward’s and Texas A&M-Kingsville. She established a career-high with 20 kills against St. Edward’s on
Friday before finishing with 17 kills back in conference play against the Javelinas on Saturday. Sotello wasn’t
limited to just kills though, adding 21 digs against the Hilltoppers and 23 digs against TAMUK. She averaged 4.62
kills per set and led the team with 5.50 digs per set. Sotello now has 104 kills on the season and 106 digs.
Lauren Bevan, West Texas A&M University, continued to lead the Lady Buffs offensively this past week as
the senior outside helped WT extend their win streak to 17 matches with wins over Midwestern State, Dallas
Baptist, Lubbock Christian, Oklahoma Baptist and Southwestern Oklahoma State to move to 25-3. The Ventura,
California native registered a team high 65 kills in 17 sets to average 3.82 per frame to go along with five service
aces, 38 digs and 9 total blocks on the week. Bevan registered 16 kills on 49 swings against LCU on Friday night
to go along with 11 digs for a double-double, her second of the week and 12th of the season.
Krystal Faison, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, hit .308 in three games this week, putting together 40 kills
and recording just seven errors... the freshman posted two double-doubles, beginning the week with 11 kills

on Friday versus Tarleton State, the No. 2 blocking
team in the nation, the outside hitter hit .464 en
route to 13 kills... the following day, she added 16
kills, 19 digs and two blocks (.310) against Angelo
State... for the week, she averaged 3.64 kills/set, 4.45
digs/set and hit .308.
Agatha Gibbons, Eastern New Mexico University,
had an outstanding week on the court for Eastern
New Mexico. She recorded double-digit kills in all
four matches for a total of 53, averaged 3.53 k/s and
posted an attack percentage of .457. She hit over
.600 in two matches as well. Gibbons set a career-high
with 16 kills at the University of the Southwest,
matching the Mustangs’ total for the entire match.
At the net, she recorded 20 blocks during the week
(1.33 b/s) with eight of them being solo. Eight came
at Texas-Permain Basin and seven against Cameron as
she became the first Zia since 2005 to reach triple-digits
in blocks in a season.
Amy Davault, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
surpassed the 1,000 career kill mark in the second
set of the loss at Midwestern State. Davault played
a big role in the win against Cameron this week with
a double-double. She had a match-high 17 kills and a
match high 25 digs for the Lions.
Elizabeth Pennington, Texas Woman’s University,
helped the Pioneers extend their winning streak to
a season-high six games with two road wins. She
led the team with 27 kills and 12 total blocks in a
four-set win at Cameron and a five-set thriller at
Midwestern State. Pennington had 13 kills and seven
blocks against the Aggies and then added 14 kills
and five blocks against the Mustangs. On the season
she continues to lead the team in kills (279), hitting
percentage (.334), service aces (35) and total blocks
(110).
Ashley Mireles, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
was all over the court this week. Making a lot of key
digs to save points for the Lions. She had 20 digs in
the win at Cameron and 22 digs in a four set loss to
Southeastern Oklahoma State. Mireles averaged 5
digs per set to lead A&M-Commerce
Morgan Wilson, Texas Woman’s University,
recorded a pair of 20 plus digs to help the Pioneers to
a 2-0 record and extend their win streak to a season-high
six games. She was perfect 1.000 in reception
percentage with 0 receiving errors. Wilson recorded
21 digs in a four-set win at Cameron and 22 digs in a
five-set win at Midwestern State. On the season she
leads the team with 488 digs and second in service
aces with 21.
Lexi Davis, West Texas A&M University, had a
breakout week for the Lady Buffs as she continues
to recover from an early season injury as WT ran
their overall record to 25-3 with a perfect 12-0 mark
in LSC play with wins over Midwestern State, Dallas
Baptist, Lubbock Christian, Oklahoma Baptist and
Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Dumas, Texas
native registered 42 kills on 82 swings in 17 sets to
average 2.47 per frame while hitting .390 to go along
with two assists, four service aces, 18 digs and an
impressive 26 total blocks (6 solo, 20 assisted) in the
five matches to average 1.53 per set. Davis tallied
seven kills on 17 swings to hit .235 with eight digs and
10 total blocks against Lubbock Christian on Friday
night followed by an 11 kill performance on Saturday
against SW Oklahoma State on just 15 attempts and
no attack errors to hit an incredible .733 in the sweep
of the Bulldogs.
Bree Anna Lucero, Eastern New Mexico University,
recorded 14 blocks in the past week while helping
hold Eastern New Mexico’s opponents to a .092
attack percentage. She set a season-high with 10
kills and tied her season-best of seven blocks in a

four-set victory against Cameron. Lucero followed
up with a combined 13 kills and four blocks versus
Dallas Baptist and Texas-Permian Basin. Ending the
week at the University of the Southwest, she set a
season-high with two service aces and posted three
rejections.
Stephanie Johns, Texas A&M University - Kingsville,
continued to block at will, posting six blocks in a 3-1
win over St. Edward’s, two blocks against Tarleton
State and five versus Angelo State... Johns recorded
36.0 points and only two blocking errors (13 total
blocks)... she is fourth all-time on the Javelina blocks
list with five games remaining on the regular season
schedule.
Zoey Hanrahan, Angelo State University, continued
being the strongest block presence on the ASU team
last weekend with five blocks against St. Edward’s and
five blocks against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Hanrahan,
who leads the Belles with 65 blocks this season, also
supplied 17 kills during the two-match weekend on
the road. She is averaging 0.88 blocks per set this
season and is third on the team with 137 blocks.
Courtney Tate, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
had a great week setting the ball for the Lions. Tate
was constantly putting her teammates into good
position to get kills. She averaged 10.91 assists
per set and had a match-high 50 kills in the Loss to
Southeastern Oklahoma State. She also contributed
with 13 kills and 22 digs.
Joey Redwine, Texas Woman’s University, ran a 5-1
offense and helped the Pioneers to two road wins
over the weekend. She recorded 94 assists and 10.44
assists per set in the two wins. Redwine posted 42
assists in a four-set win at Cameron and then added
52 assists in a five-set win at Midwestern State. On
the season she has a team-best 738 assists and tied
for third in total blocks with 48.
Kameryn Hayes, West Texas A&M University,
continued to guide the powerful WT offense this past
week as they hit .272 as a team in 17 sets to register
wins over Midwestern State, Dallas Baptist, Lubbock
Christian, Oklahoma Baptist and Southwestern
Oklahoma State to move to 25-3 overall with a
perfect 12-0 mark in LSC play. Hayes registered 43
kills (2.53/set) on 107 swings to hit .318 on the week
as she dished out 128 assists to average 7.53 per
frame while also tallying 45 digs and nine total blocks
on the week. Friday afternoon saw the Cypress native
register her fifth triple-double of the season with 10
kills, 30 assists and 16 digs in a four set neutral site
win over Dallas Baptist in a rematch of last year’s
NCAA South Central Regional Quarterfinals.
Emily Medlin, Tarleton State University, posted
back-to-back 20-assist efforts and led the team to
a .253 team hitting percentage while also notching
her first career double-double in Tuesday’s in-region
battle against St. Edward’s. Against the Hilltoppers,
Medlin had 29 assists for a .213 team hitting
percentage to go along with 11 digs. She followed up
with 22 assists for a .316 team hitting percentage in
Kingsville Saturday.
Kennedi Catano, Eastern New Mexico University,
led Eastern New Mexico with 89 assists and 5.93 a/s
in the team’s 6-2 system. She helped the Zias hit .227
as a team with 198 kills. In the first match of the week
against Cameron, Catano had a season-high 30 assists
and added 2 service aces in the four-set victory. She
recorded her second double-double of the year in
a 3-1 win over Dallas Baptist with 19 assists and 14
digs. Catano was credited with 20 assists in matches
versus Texas-Permian Basin and the University of the
Southwest.

Angelo State
The Belles are on a four-match winning streak after
going on the road last weekend and picking up wins
over St. Edward’s and Texas A&M-Kingville. ASU
topped each opponent in four-set matches and is
now 8-4 away from San Angelo this season. Brianna
Sotello led ASU with 37 kills and 44 digs in the two
matches, while Mallory Blauser had 29 kills and
Shelby Wilt had 41 digs in the two matches. ASU now
has five matches remaining this season with all five
being played at the Junell Center. The Belles start the
five-match home stand with a Tuesday night match
against Texas-Permian Basin before hosting West
Texas A&M on Friday and ENMU on Saturday.

Eastern New Mexico
Eastern New Mexico went 3-1 this past week
including a win in their only Lone Star Conference
match against Cameron. The Zias also defeated Dallas
Baptist and the University of the Southwest while
falling to Texas-Permian Basin on the road. In the
four matches, ENMU hit .227 while averaging 13.2
k/s, 12.9 a/s. They also posted 15.5 d/s and 2.7 b/s.
Agatha Gibbons led the team in kills (53), k/s (3.53),
attack percentage (.457), blocks (20), solo blocks (8)
and b/s (1.33). She also became the first Zia since
2005 to have at least 100 blocks in a season with
her second Monday night against the Mustangs.
Gibbons also set a new career-high with 16 kills at
USW as she matched the Mustangs’ total for the
entire match. Lauren Frye added 37 kills and 2.64
k/s while Brooklyn Biel set a season-high with 10 kills
against the Patriots on her way to a 29-kill (2.07 k/s)
week. Kennedi Catano posted a team-high 89 assists
while she and Karra Day both averaged 5.93 a/s. Both
Bree Anna Lucero and Frye had 14 blocks each while
Biel added 12. Andrea Aguilar recorded a team-best
4.67 d/s and Courtney Lawson was second with 3.93
d/s. This week the Zias play their final two road LSC
matches when they take on Tarleton State on Friday
and Angelo State Saturday afternoon.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State snapped a five-match skid with
a sweep of Texas A&M-Commerce Friday night...
The Mustangs had dropped 10 consecutive sets
before claiming the victory over A&M-Commerce....
MSU played its 10th five-set match of the season
and is 3-7 in those contests... It’s the sixth time in
program history the Mustangs have extended 10
matches to five sets and the first time since 2009...
The Mustangs have gone to five sets 10 times in five
seasons and 11 times in 1992... Sophomore middle
blocker Sarah Garfield moved into 10th on the single
season solo block list with her 31st Saturday against
Texas Woman’s. She needs three more to pass Molly
Truelove (32 in 1995) and Lauren Bayer (32 in 2010)
to jump into eighth... Senior defensive specialist
Casey Fletcher had 17 digs last week to run her
career total to 1,374 and move into seventh on the
program’s all-time list past Mandy Pinkerton (1370
from 1995-98)... Sophomore setter Sarah Rosinke
logged 92 set assists last week to move past Kristan
Aduddell (1247 from 2011-12) into 10th on the career
assists list with 1,315... Junior outside hitter Hunter
Porter notched her eighth and ninth double-digit
kill outings putting down 12 against Texas A&M-Commerce
and 10 against Texas Woman’s... Senior
middle blocker Kat Molloy averaged 2.10 kills per
set with an efficient .340 hitting percentage last
week for MSU... Sophomore middle blocker Sarah
Garfield notched her seventh 10-plus kill outing with
13 against Texas Woman’s on Saturday... Sophomore
defensive specialist Madelyn Johnson has logged
10-or-more digs in each of her last three outings and
matched a season high with 21 Saturday against Texas
Woman’s...
Tarleton State
Tarleton State won both games last week to push its
winning streak to five straight, including a four-set
win against St. Edwards in a crucial in-region battle
Tuesday night. The TexAnns improved to 19-5 overall
and are now one win shy of the fifth 20-win season in
Mary Schindler’s career. Tarleton hosts Eastern New
Mexico and West Texas A&M this weekend.
Texas A&M-Commerce
A&M-Commerce finished the week with a 1-2 record
and 1-1 in the LSC. The Lions posted a big win at
Cameron to keep their LSC tournament hopes in tact.
Lions outside hitter Amy Davault surpassed the 1,000
kill mark for her career in the loss at Midwestern
State University.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville went 1-2 last week, defeating
St. Edward’s 3-1 in mid-week action... the Javelinas
hosted Tarleton State and Angelo State and fell in
close battles in straight sets... Krystal Faison hit .309
and registered two double-doubles this week and
Stephanie Johns posted 13 blocks in three games.
Texas Woman’s
The TWU volleyball team extended its win streak to
a season-high six games with two road wins. The
Pioneers captured a four-set win at Cameron before
rallying to capture a five-set thriller at Midwestern
State and improved their record to 16-7 on the season.
Freshman Elizabeth Pennington led the team with 27
kills and 12 total blocks while senior Morgan Wilson
was the leaders on defense with 43 digs. Junior Joey
Redwine had a team-best 94 assists. On the season
Pennington is the team leaders in kills (279), hitting
percentage 9.334), service aces 935) and total blocks
(110). Wilson leads in digs (488) while Redwine has
738 assists. Senior Jaqueline Santos is second in kills
(238) and total blocks (87) while sophomore Mallory
Kuechle has 226 kills, 274 digs, 21 service aces and 48
total blocks.
West Texas A&M
The #25 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M continued
to roll this past week as they registered wins over
Midwestern State, Dallas Baptist, Lubbock Christian,
Oklahoma Baptist and Southwestern Oklahoma State
to run their overall record to 25-3 with a perfect 12-0
mark in LSC play. WT will look to claim the program’s
19th Lone Star Conference Title this weekend as they
carry a three game lead with four league matches
remaining this season. A single win this weekend
would clinch at least a share of the LSC title for the
Lady Buffs with two wins giving the crown outright.
The Lady Buffs will travel to San Angelo, Texas on
Friday night for a battle with the rival Belles of Angelo
State followed by a matchup with Tarleton State on
Saturday afternoon in Stephenville.
