LSC VOLLEYBALL
Angelo State went 5-1 last week with a record se ng week as they climbed to the No. 8 spot in the AVCA
rankings a er upse ng both No. 2 Wheeling Jesuit and No. 6 Central Missouri. No. 2 WJU was the highest
ranked team defeated in program history.
Heading into Lone Star Conference ac on this week, three teams - ASU, Tarleton State and Texas A&M-
Kingsville - have just one loss. League play starts Friday with ļ¬ve LSC contests.
LSC volleyball teams are 56-38 overall this season. The squads are currently 14-9 combined versus Rocky
Mountain Athle c Conference teams, and 14-3 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues
in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Mallory Blauser, Angelo State University, SR, Round Rock, Texas, Round Rock Chris an HS
Blauser dominated on the court for the Belles this week, as it upset a pair of AVCA top 10 teams. Having been
selected to the Colorado Premier Challenge All ā Tournament Team, the senior totaled 114 kills for the week
averaging her 5.43 kills per match for a .322 clip. She recorded two games with 20-plus kills apiece, which
included a season high 28 kill performance against No. 2 Wheeling Jesuit. From the service line, Blauser was
second on the squad with ļ¬ve service aces. Defensively, she totaled 50 digs and nine blocks overall. The Round
Rock na ve added two double-doubles to her accolades for the week, as she tallied 13 digs against No.6 Central
Missouri and 12 digs against No.2 Wheeling Jesuit.
DEFENSIVE
Brianna Sotello, Angelo State University, JR, San Antonio, Texas, OāConnor HS
Sotello was a rock for ASUās defensive eļ¬orts this week against several AVCA top 10 teams. With 91 digs, the
junior recorded double- digit digs in all six matches this week including a season high 22 digs against No. 2
Wheeling Jesuit. This averaged the junior outside hi er 4.33 digs per match and helped hold opponents to a
.166 hi ng percentage. Sotello also added eight total blocks to her defensive numbers. Oļ¬ensively, she was
second on the team with 65 kills and led the Belles with nine total service aces.
SETTER
Meghan Parker, Angelo State University, FR, San Antonio, Texas, Johnson HS
Recording another strong performance this week with 243 total assists, Parker averaged 11.5 assists per match
as the Belles upset a pair of AVCA top 10 teams. The freshman chalked up a career high 53 assist against No.
2 Wheeling Jesuit. She also tallied four service aces and 43 total digs. Adding a pair of double ādoubles to her
numbers, she con nues to lead ASU with ļ¬ve on the season. Finally, Parker recorded 10 total blocks for the
week. For the week, ASU recorded a .245 team hi ng percentage.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Hailey Roberts, Tarleton State University, con nued her early-season dominance as the Lone Star Conference
leader in kills per set con nued her torrid pace while leading Tarleton to three more wins and a 7-1 start to the
season. The junior from Cedar Park totaled 87 more kills in four games, including tying her own school record
with 37 kills against Lubbock Chris an in Thursdayās home opener. She recorded double-digit kills in all four
games to extend her streak of consecu ve games with at least 10 kills to 49 da ng back to her freshman year. In
addi on to her oļ¬ensive dominance, Roberts also had four straight games with at least 10 digs for four double-
doubles in Tarletonās four games for the week. Roberts added three assists, four aces, 53 digs, eight blocks, and
95.5 points en route to being named to the TexAnn Invita onal All-Tournament team.
Aerielle Edwards, Midwestern State University, led the Mustangs oļ¬ense on their home court last weekend
at the MSU Hampton Inn-vita onal, averaging 4.43 kills per set with a .321 hi ng percentage to earn her spot
on a second-straight all-tournament team. The Haltom City, Texas na ve recorded double-digit kills in all four
matches during MSUās 3-1 weekend including a career-best 21-kill performance in the tournament ļ¬nale win

over Southeastern Oklahoma State. Edwardsā 21 kills
were the ļ¬ h-most for a three-set match in program
history, becoming the ļ¬rst player to eclipse the 20-
kill plateau in three sets in 10 years. Edwards led the
Mustangs in kills in three matches, adding 15 in a
four-set loss to St. Edwardās and 13 in wins over Fort
Lewis and Dallas Bap st. Edwards hit over .250 in all
four matches with a weekend-best .444 percentage
coming against FLC a er commi ng just one error on
27 a empts. On the season, she leads MSU with 100
kills (3.70/set) and a .293 hi ng percentage.
Lauren Frye, Eastern New Mexico University,
Named to the Tarleton State Tournament for her ļ¬rst
all-tournament performance of the season...picked
up 69 kills on the weekend while hi ng .286...hit
above .300 in three of the four matches, including
a blistering .378 with 24 kills in the ļ¬ve set loss to
Colorado Chris an.
Jenna Gillean, Cameron University, was named
to the MSU Invita onal All-Tournament Team a er
knocking down 62 kills and hit .321 in four matches
last weekend. The Aggie sophomore knocked down
17 and later 18 straight kills without commi ng an
error while averaging 3.65 kills per set. Gillean also
had 34 total digs and her ļ¬rst career double-double
oļ¬ of 13 kills and 12 digs against Emporia State. In
eight matches, Gillean has recorded 130 kills, and has
a .335 hi ng percentage.
Anna McGee, Texas Womanās University, was
named to the Florida Southern College/Terrace Hotel
Classic All-Tournament Team a er pos ng game
highs with 14 kills and seven blocks in the win against
LIU Post and recording team-highs in contests versus
No. 23 Florida Southern, UC-Colorado Springs and
Rollins. The senior hit .350 during the tournament
and totaled 18 total blocks, including three solo
stops.
Krystal Faison, Texas A&M University-Kingsville,
had a impac ul week on the ļ¬oor for Texas A&M
University-Kingsville a er recording 78.5 points on
63 kills, 11 aces and nine blocks in 20 sets played.
Faison notched her ļ¬rst 20-plus kill match against
CSU-Pueblo in a ļ¬ve set thriller, ļ¬nishing with her
third double-double of the season with 21 kills and
19 digs. She later claimed her fourth double-double
of the season and second in the ThunderWolves
Classic a er another ļ¬ve set match against Nova
Southeastern University. The junior had a match high
of 24 digs and ļ¬ve aces to go along with her 13 kills
against the Sharks.
Taryn Driver, Texas A&M University-Commerce, led
the team in kills in four of the ļ¬ve matches as A&M-
Commerce went 2-4 on the week... She had double
ļ¬gures in kills in the ļ¬rst eight matches of the year...
Elisa Bentsen, West Texas A&M University,
con nued to lead the Lady Buļ¬s as WT went 2-2 as
last weekendās UIndy Invita onal with wins over Lock
Haven and the host Greyhounds while falling to North
Alabama and Ashland. The Hesperia, California na ve
led the Lady Buļ¬s with 38 kills on 69 swings with just
eight a ack errors to hit .435 on the weekend to go
along with two assists, two aces, eight digs and seven
total blocks. The senior ed a career high with 14 kills
against Lock Haven on Saturday morning in a sweep
of the Bald Eagles, hi ng .423 in the match with just
three a ack errors on 26 a empts.ā
Heather Verrill, Western New Mexico, was named
to the Westminster All-Tournament Team a er
leading the oļ¬ense with 39 kills, averaging 2.60 kills
per set and hit .281. She also added a service ace,
14 digs, 14 blocks and was responsible for 48 points.
Verrill set the tone to start the weekend with 18
kills against Minot State, leading WNMU to the 3-1
win. She hit .429 in that match, while adding three
digs and a block. She capped the tournament with
a nine kill eļ¬ort and hit .273 against Westminster in
a 3-0 victory. She added six digs in that match. Her
high in blocks with eight came against Texas A&M
Interna onal as WNMU rolled to the 3-0 victory. ā
Ashley Mataele, Western New Mexico, was named
to the Westminster All-Tournament Team a er
snagging 71 digs, averaging 4.73 per set, along with
19 assists and ļ¬ve service aces. Mataele had at least
16 digs in all four matches, going for a high of 21 in
the victory against Minot State. She added a double-
double with 10 assists. She had a real strong day
on Saturday, as both matches went just three sets,
but she came away with 17 digs against Texas A&M
Interna onal and then 16 against Westminster.
Lauren Bri en, West Texas A&M University,
con nued her march up the WT all- me career digs
list this past weekend as the Amarillo na ve led the
Lady Buļ¬s to a 2-2 showing at the UIndy Invita onal.
Bri en registered 61 digs on the weekend for an
average of 4.36 per set to register a .915 receiving
percentage of 82 chances. She now sits at 1,687
career digs which is eighth all- me in the WT record
books and just 17 digs shy of Lauren Thedford (1,704)
for seventh place.ā
Sydney Reyes, Texas A&M University-Commerce,
is the league leader in blocks and the Lions lead the
LSC as a team in blocks... A&M-Commerce are also
ranked second in the conference in opponent hi ng
percentage... Her 7 blocks in the Colorado Chris an
match are the second-most by a Lion this season...

Hannah McManus, Tarleton State University,
earned her ļ¬rst all-tournament honor last weekend
as the sophomore middle blocker led the way from
the middle to lead Tarleton to three victories and
a 7-1 start to the season. McManus, a sophomore
from Caldwell, gave Tarleton 36 kills on a .304 hi ng
percentage while leading the way with 18 blocks,
including four solo stops at the net. In a pivotal third
set against Lubbock Chris an on Thursday, McManus
came up big for the TexAnns as she landed three kills
in four points to turn the de of an 18-18 e into a
22-18 Tarleton lead that the TexAnns eventually went
on to win 25-21. She landed a career-high 13 kills
and recorded six blocks against the Lady Chaps in
that ļ¬ve-set win. For the weekend, McManus helped
anchor a Tarleton defense that held opponents to a
.188 hi ng percentage.
Haley Hutchinson, Texas A&M University-
Kingsville, ļ¬nished the week with a team high 24
blocks and averaged 1.20 blocks per set to help the
Javelinas go 4-1 in ļ¬ve matches played. Opponents
had a hard me with Hutchinson in the middle
and was held to a hi ng percentage of .174. The
sophomoreās best game of the weekend came against
host CSU-Pueblo at the ThunderWolves Classic as she
recorded 17.5 points a er seven total blocks and 14
kills. The Georgetown na ve is second in the LSC with
37 total kills.

Jordyn Keamo, Tarleton State University, con nued
to impress the proud defenders of the Purple and
the White as the junior from Mililani, Hawaii dished
out 187 assists in four games for an average of
12.47 assists per set. Keamo dished out 66 assists in
Thursdayās win over Lubbock Chris an, which ed her
for the second most in a single game in school history.
She topped 30 assists in all four games for Tarleton
last weekend, including a 66-assist performance
against LCU and a 57-assist performance against
Colorado Chris an. She tacked on a pair of double-
doubles with 10 digs against LCU and 11 against
Arkansas-Mon cello. She totaled eight kills, 39 digs,
four blocks, and a team-high 12 service aces on the
weekend. The Keamo-led oļ¬ense hit .222 in four
games and seven diļ¬erent TexAnns had at least 10
kills for the tournament.
Kristan Aduddell, Midwestern State University,
averaged 12.18 assists in 11 sets during Midwestern
Stateās 3-1 weekend at the MSU Hampton Inn-
vita onal. The Colony, Texas na ve dished out a
career-best 46 assists and added nine digs in a 3-1
win over Dallas Bap st while recording her second
double-double of the season with 44 assists and
11 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Southeastern Oklahoma
State in the tournament ļ¬nale. In the win over the
Savage Storm, Aduddell posted a double-double in
the second set alone with 12 assists and 10 digs. She
also posted 39 assists in the tournament-opening win
over Fort Lewis. On the season, Aduddell has 217
assists for 9.86 per set.
Casey Klobedans, Texas A&M University-Kingsville,
recorded was just under 200 assists this weekend and
averaged 9.85 assists per set. The junior recorded
three double-doubles this past week, ļ¬rst against
St. Maryās (34 assists, 12 digs), then CSU-Pueblo (53
assists, 11 digs) and ļ¬nally against Nova Southeastern
(50 assists 14 digs). As a unit the Javelinas hit .208
and Klobedans ļ¬nished with 46 digs, 18 kills and six
service aces.
Rylie Fuentes, Texas A&M University-Commerce,
notched three consecu ve double-doubles (assists &
digs) to close out the week... The freshman ranks 8th
in the league in assists per set...
Kaitlyn Kluna, Eastern New Mexico University,
Posted three matches with at-least 20 assists to earn
an All-Tournament selec on at the Tarleton State
Tournament in Stephenville
Melanie Hughes, Western New Mexico, paced the
oļ¬ense with 77 assists, going for at least 16 in every
match and reaching 20 or more in three matches. She
closed the Westminster Invita onal strong with a high
of 21 assists in just three sets versus Westminster.

Angelo State
The Belles had a record se ng week as they climbed
to the No. 8 spot in the AVCA rankings a er upse ng
both No. 2 Wheeling Jesuit and No. 6 Central
Missouri. No. 2 Wheeling Jesuit was the highest
ranked team ever upset in program history. ASU
went 5-1 overall for the week. The Belles a ack was
headed by veterans Mallory Blauser (114), Brianna
Sotello (65) and Abbie Lynn (44), who con nued to
lead the team in kills. Leiyona Young, Morgan Seaton,
Micheala Sifuentes, Sotello and Lynn provided a solid
base for the ASU defense. Young (17), Seaton (12) and
Lynn (12) led the squad in blocks, while Sifuentes (95)
and Sotello (91) led in the digs department. Finally,
freshman Meghan Parker excelled in distribu ng the
ball for Angelo State se ng a career high 53 assists
against the No. 2 Cardinals. The se er also tallied 43
digs and 10 blocks to assist the defense.

Eastern New Mexico
The Greyhounds went 1-3 at the Tarleton State
Tournament...Lauren Frye and Kaitlyn Kluna
garnered all-tournament honors for their breakout
performance...The Green and White lost a pair of

Mesa while falling to ninth-ranked Central Oklahoma.

Tarleton State
Tarleton won three of four at the TexAnn Invita onal
last weekend. Hailey Roberts and Hannah McManus
were named to the all-tournament team. The
TexAnns will host Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas
Womanās to open LSC play this weekend.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Texas A&M-Commerce won two matches and
lost three in the last weekā¦ Both wins were sweeps,
as the Lions will enter Lone Star Conference play
with a 5-4 overall recordā¦ Head coach Craig Case
earned his 150th career victory in the Lionsā sweep of
Arkansas-Mon cello to start the Tarleton Invita onal
on Fridayā¦ Taryn Driver had 12 kills in the match,
Rylie Fuentes had 23 assists and Ashley Mireles
had 21 digs in the sweepā¦ No. 9 Central Oklahoma
swept the Lions in their second match at TSUās

third match of the tournament, Fuentes notched a

matches outside of the match against No. 3 Wayne
State College. The Hogs will open conference play this
Friday against new LSC member Western New Mexico
at 4 p.m. and follow with a match against Eastern
New Mexico on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Texas Womanās
TWU compiled a 1-3 recorded at the Florida Southern
College/Terrace Hotel Classic in Lakeland, Fla. The
Pioneers scored a win in their opening match against
LIU Post before falling to No. 23 Florida Southern,
UC-Colorado Springs and Rollins.

West Texas A&M
The Lady Buļ¬s returned home following a 2-2
showing at the UIndy Invita onal last weekend. WT
fell to North Alabama and Ashland on Friday before
responding with wins over Lock Haven and the host
Greyhounds to run their season record to 4-4. WT
was led by senior middle blocker Elisa Bentsen who
registered 38 kills on 69 swings with just eight a ack
errors to hit .435 on the weekend to go along with two
assists, two aces, eight digs and seven total blocks.
Bentsen ed a career high with 14 kills against Lock
Haven while sophomore Michaela Montgomery ed
her career high with 15 kills on Saturday a ernoon
against UIndy. The Lady Buļ¬s open up their Lone
Star Conference schedule on the road this weekend

Western New Mexico
The Lady Mustangs went 3-1 during the Westminster
Invita onal collec ng wins against Minot State, Texas
A&M Interna onal and Westminster. They fell just
short of a complete sweep for the week in a ļ¬ve-set
ba le against Fort Hays State, a er rallying from two
sets down. WNMU posted 194 kills and hit .220 as
a team, while limi ng opponents to just a .151 clip.
Blocking was key with the team tallying 36 and several
had big block numbers including junior Samantha
Haupeakui with 17, senior Shannon Rich with 16,
including three solo and junior Heather Verrill with
14, that included two solo blocks. Verrill and junior
Ashley Mataele were named to the All-Tournament
Team.
