LSC SOFTBALL
West Texas A&M remains atop the Lone Star Conference standings and became the first team in Division II
Softball to reach 40 wins. The Lady Buffs are 40-2 overall and 22-2 in LSC action.
LSC teams are playing a single round-robin schedule with a four games against each league opponent. The
four-game series shall consist of a doubleheader Friday and a doubleheader Saturday.
The overall LSC Champion will be the team(s) with the best winning percentage in regular-season conference
games, while the winner of the postseason championship will be recognized as LSC Tournament Champion and
receive the league’s automatic qualification into NCAA postseason. The single-elimination championship will
be played April 29-30, at the No. 1 seed.
LSC softball teams are 217-155 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the group is currently 53-
32 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 30-13 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Kenedy Urbany, Angelo State University, JR, OF/DP/P, Helotes, Texas, O’Connor HS
Urbany recorded 10 RBIs and two home runs in six games this past week. The junior recorded eight hits with
two doubles along with the two home runs. She slugged a team-high .762 and totaled 16 bases during the
week. She hit .381 and scored four runs.
PITCHER
Katie Dean, Texas A&M University - Commerce, FR, P, Whitesboro, Texas, Whitesboro HS
Dean went 2-0 for the Lions during the week as the team cruised to a 5-1 week. Dean tossed both of her games
in the Lions’ LSC series against Tarleton State. Her first appearance of the week came in relief when she threw
five innings and struck out a career-high eight batters. Dean’s performance allowed the Lions to rally and take
the opening game of the series 5-3. With the series on the line in game three, she tossed a complete game
four-hitter to give the Lions a 2-1 win and a 2-1 advantage in the series. Dean again struck out eight TexAnns
matching her career-high. The lone run to score against her in the game was unearned.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Katelyn Conlee, Tarleton State University, led Tarleton with a .571 batting average by going 8-for-14 at the
plate. The senior outfielder belted two doubles and a three-run home run that ultimately led Tarleton to a
game two win in last weekend’s road series at Texas A&M-Commerce. Conlee’s offense, which was highlighted
by a team-high seven RBIs, helped Tarleton win three games over the past week.
Katelyn Vinson, Midwestern State University, became the Lone Star Conference career home run leader last
week as the Southlake native belted out her record-breaking 63rd home run in a win over Oklahoma Christian.
Vinson batted .500 while finishing with a 1.000 slugging percentage and .609 on base percentage in six games
to lead the Mustangs. Despite being intentionally walked four times in the series versus Angelo State, Vinson
finished with a team-high nine hits, eight RBI, five walks, three doubles and two home runs while adding six
runs over six games. In the win over the Lady Eagles, Vinson posted her best performance of the week with a
3-for-4 outing with two runs and two RBI while posting a two-run home run in the sixth inning in the 8-4 victory.
She added to her LSC record Sunday against the Rambelles with a solo shot in the fourth inning for her 11th
homer of the season. Vinson is the NCAA Division II active career leader in home runs and ranks second in RBI
(214) and total bases (458) while leading the LSC this season in batting average (.453) and slugging percentage
(.829).
Lacey Taylor, West Texas A&M University, continued to put together a great season at the plate this past
weekend as the senior catcher hit .500 with three doubles and four RBI for a slugging percentage of .800 while
walking five times for an on-base clip of .500 for the Lady Buffs. The Byers native led the Lady Buffs to an LSC
road sweep at Texas A&M-Kingsville to keep WT atop of the league standings at 40-2 (22-2 LSC) heading into
Senior Weekend in Canyon where the Lady Buffs can clinch their third straight league title outright.
Marleyna Piñon, Eastern New Mexico University, paced ENMU in hitting last week at .500. She also had a
double and drove in a run.
Kylene Hatton, Texas A&M University - Commerce, led the Lions to a 5-1 week after A&M-Commerce swept
a Tuesday doubleheader at UTPB and took three of four games from LSC foe Tarleton State. In the two games
against UTPB Hatton went 5-for-9 with two RBI. Two of her hits went for extra bases with a double and a
homer as the Lions cruised to an 11-1 win and an 8-2 win. In the LSC series against Tarleton State Hatton raked.
She recorded a hit in every game during the series and drove in runs in three of the four games capping the
weekend off with five RBI. She drove in two runs and went 1-for-4 with a two-run double to open the series.
Her best game of the series, came in a 2-1 Lions win in game three of the series. She went 2-for-4 with the only
two Lions’ runs to scored including a game-winning walk off home run on the first pitch she saw to open the
bottom of the seventh inning. All told on the week, Hatton went 11-for-23 with seven RBI, two homers and
three doubles.
Nikki Horton, Cameron University, had a hit in all for games of their series win over #20 Texas Woman’s. The
Aggie junior from Cache, Okla. had a .600 on-base percentage, with five hits, and four runs. Horton was 4-for-4
in stolen bases, and has successfully swiped her last eight bags in a row. Additionally, she recorded five putouts
in center field, and drew four walks for Cameron.
Tori Bayer, West Texas A&M University, continued to roll in the circle for the #2 Lady Buffs this past weekend

as the senior went 1-0 with another save to lead the
league with seven. The Floresville native now sits at
11-0 with a team leading 1.26 ERA. On the weekend,
Bayer allowed an opponent batting average of just
.077. The senior right hander picked up her league
leading seventh save of the season in Friday’s opener
before capping off a weekend sweep with a gem in the
finale. Bayer allowed just one hit in a complete game
shutout against the Javelinas with eight strikeouts to
tie a season high. Bayer led the Lady Buffs to an LSC
road sweep at Texas A&M-Kingsville to keep WT atop
of the league standings at 40-2 (22-2 LSC) heading
into Senior Weekend in Canyon where the Lady Buffs
can clinch their third straight league title outright.
Haley Freyman, Tarleton State University, was a
dominant force from the pitching circle for Tarleton
last week. Of Tarleton’s six games last week, the Lone
Star Conference leader in innings pitched continued
to improve her workload with 27.1 innings with a 1.02
and all three of Tarleton’s wins last week. She allowed
nine runs – only four earned – in her 27.1 innings of
work with 15 strikeouts. Of her five appearances, she
started four games and threw four complete games –
including a complete game shutout of St. Edward’s in
a sweep on Tuesday.
Emily Wasinger, Cameron University, recorded two
complete game wins and a save against #20 Texas
Woman’s for the Aggies in their series win. The junior
pitcher from Frederick, Okla. had two complete
games and 13 innings tossed, while recording a 1.62
ERA against the Pioneers. Wasinger allowed only
three earned runs and has pushed her season win
total to 15 for the Aggies.
Carlie Clark, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, was
dominant in the circle this week completing two of
the three games she started with an ERA of 2.25.
Against non-conference foe TAMIU, Clark tossed
her first career no-hitter, and the first in the Javelina
program since 2005. The Javelinas went to win that
game 3-0. On the week, the junior pitched a total of
18.2 innings and secured 15 total punchouts.
Kiana Zerr, Eastern New Mexico University, tossed
a complete game on Saturday and went extra innings
to hand Oklahoma Christian its second home loss of
the season. After giving up three runs in the second
inning, Zerr blanked the Eagles on five hits the rest of
the way.
Brandy Marlett, Angelo State University, went 3-0
this past week including a win over No. 9 St. Mary’s.
The sophomore recorded a season-high 11 strikeouts
in an 8-3 win over Midwestern State and secured the
series win for ASU with another eight. She now has
100 on the season. The Henderson, Nevada native
limited St. Mary’s and MSU to just a .229 average and
seven runs in 18.0 innings of work. Two of her three
wins were complete game victories.

Cameron
The Aggies picked up a pivotal conference series
win over No. 20 Texas Woman’s after taking three
out of four games in Lawton. Saturday’s 4-2 win in
game two was also the 100th collegiate victory for
Head Coach Rodney DeLong who is already CU’s third
winningest softball coach in less than three years.
Cameron’s series win over TWU was their first since
1998 and the Aggies 12-2 victory in five innings is the
first time they run-ruled the Pioneers. In their 7-6
loss, the Aggies drew 11 walks which was the most
since 2009 for a Cameron squad. Sonora Zukerman
homered during the series and it is her 41st career

Eastern New Mexico
After a tough outing against New Mexico Highlands,
theGreyhoundsbouncedbacktosplitadoubleheader
at Oklahoma Christian. Kiana Zerr tossed a complete
game to earn Eastern’s first extra-inning win of the
season and hand OCU their second home loss of the
year. This week, ENMU will visit West Texas A&M.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State posted a 2-4 record on the week,
splitting a non-conference doubleheader at home
against Oklahoma Christian before dropping three of
four to Angelo State in Lone Star Conference action.
Senior Katelyn Vinson became the LSC career home
run leader Wednesday with her record-breaking 63rd
homer in an 8-4 home win over Oklahoma Christian.
The Mustangs come into the week sitting in sixth
place in the league standings with a 23-21 overall
record and 8-12 mark in conference play. MSU hosts
Texas A&M-Commerce in a four-game series this
weekend at Mustangs Park. Action begins Friday with
a doubleheader at 5 p.m. before the series wraps up
Saturday at 1 p.m.
Tarleton State
Tarleton went 3-3 last week and will return home
next weekend for a home series with Cameron on
Friday and Saturday.

Texas Woman’s
TWU is 24-14 on the season and 13-7 in the Lone
Star Conference after going 1-3 at Cameron over the
weekend. The Pioneers dropped their first LSC series
of the season. Senior Tealey Farquhar leads the team
on offense this season with a .427 batting average, 42
runs and 27 stolen bases. Senior Laura Mabary has a
team best nine doubles and four triples and second
in batting average (.361) and RBI (23). Junior Nicole
Nordie is the team leader with three home runs and
32 RBI. Junior Tori Bice leads the pitching staff with a
3.18 ERA, 14 wins and 82 strike outs.
West Texas A&M
The No. 2 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M became the
first team in Division II Softball to reach 40 wins this
past weekend as they completed an LSC road sweep
of Texas A&M-Kingsville to move to 40-2 (22-2 LSC)
on the season. WT is hitting .373 as a team with 101
doubles, 11 triples and 51 home runs to drive in 327
RBI for an incredible team slugging percentage of
.619. The two-time defending LSC Champions are also
getting it done in the circle, registering a team ERA
of just 2.11 with 21 complete games and 10 shutouts
this season. The Lady Buffs return to the friendly
confines of Schaeffer Park this weekend as they host
the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico in a four-
game Lone Star Conference series on Senior Weekend
in Canyon. The series starts on Friday night at 5 p.m.
in doubleheader action followed by the final two
contests on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Schaeffer
Park. WT will look to clinch their third straight Lone
Star Conference title, three wins against the Hounds
will give WT at least a share of the LSC Title and a
series sweep will give WT the title outright.
