LSC VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The teams are set for the annual Lone Star Conference Volleyball Championship Tournament, which begins
Thursday in San Angelo, Texas.
Angelo State is the top seed and host a er capturing the program’s ninth LSC Championship with an 18-2
league record.
The eight-team, single-elimina on tournament consists of four first-round matches on Thursday, followed by
two semifinal games on Friday evening and the championship match on Saturday.
The top eight teams in the LSC will compete for the 2016 tournament championship. In addi on to claiming
the tle, the LSC tournament winner will receive the league’s automa c berth into the NCAA Division II
Volleyball Championship.
Ac on starts on Thursday at 12 p.m. with No. 3 Texas A&M-Kingsville against No. 6 West Texas A&M followed
by No. 2 Tarleton State versus No. 7 Western New Mexico at 2:30 p.m., No. 4 Eastern New Mexico against No.
5 Texas A&M-Commerce at 5 p.m. and No. 1 ASU versus No. 8 Midwestern State at 7:30 p.m.
All seven games will be streamed live free of charge through the LSC’s GameCentral portal (h p://portal.
stretchinternet.com/lonestar). In addi on to suppor ng desktop and laptop computers, GameCentral’s
responsive design will support mobile devices as well (iPad, iPhones, Android).
ASU won the 2015 LSC volleyball tournament championship with a 3-2 victory over TSU in Stephenville,
Texas.
LSC VOLLEYBALL
LSC volleyball teams are 180-156 overall this season. The squads are currently 15-9 combined versus Rocky
Mountain Athle c Conference teams, and 26-9 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues
in the NCAA South Central Region.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Lauren Frye, Eastern New Mexico University, SR, Amissville, Va., Highland HS
Frye led the Greyhound offense to a pair of wins last week and narrowed the gap on the career record book
needing 19 kills to break the program record. The senior picked up 59 kills (4.92 per set) on the week while
hi ng .256. Frye recorded 24 kills in the five-set win over 10th-ranked Angelo State, the most by any player
against the Rambelles this season. She had 23 kills in the road win over Western New Mexico and tallied 12
kills in a loss to Tarleton State.
DEFENSIVE
Andrea Aguilar, Eastern New Mexico University, JR, Clovis, N.M, Clovis HS
Aguilar was instrumental in the defensive effort this past week, recording 56 digs in the three matches. The
junior had 20 digs in the team’s win over 10th-ranked Angelo State, helping the Greyhounds to a plus-24 dig
margin over the Rambelles. Addi onally, Aguilar added 17 at Western New Mexico and 19 against Tarleton as
the Greyhounds limited opponents to a .172 hi ng percentage for the week.
SETTER
Jordyn Keamo, Tarleton State University, JR, Mililani, HI, Mililani HS
Keamo led Tarleton to back-to-back wins over Western and Eastern New Mexico in the TexAnns longest road
trip of the year last weekend. Keamo dished out 51 assists and led the team with a .400 hi ng percentage from
the se er posi on with five kills on 10 a empts. She also added eight digs and an ace for weekend.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Sara Oxford, Texas Woman’s University, finished her TWU career by recording a Pioneer match record
of 36 kills against UT Permian Basin, breaking the previous mark of 35 set during the 1995 season. The
accomplishment is the second best output in a five-set match this season in Division II and the fourth best

also notched her 14th double-double on the year
versus the Falcons with 10 digs, and Friday at West
Texas A&M, the middle blocker tallied a team-high 10
kills. In the two matches, the middle blocker averaged
5.75 kills per set while hi ng .417 and pos ng 2.12
digs along with 1.12 blocks.
HaileyRoberts,TarletonStateUniversity,con nued
to lead the Tarleton offense, this me to a feat that
has not been done by a Lone Star Conference team
this season. Tarleton swept the New Mexico road
trip Friday and Saturday by rallying to beat Western
New Mexico in five sets and wrapping up the regular
season with a sweep of Eastern New Mexico in
Portales Saturday. Roberts led Tarleton with 31 kills
and two double-doubles on the weekend. Roberts
landed 18 kills to go along with a team-high 19 digs
against the Mustangs before going for 13 kills and 11
digs in Saturday’s sweep. She totaled 30 digs, three
assists, three aces, six blocks, and 37.0 points for the
week.
Taryn Driver, Texas A&M University-Commerce,
con nued to lead the Lions on the a ack. She had 24
kills in her two matches, including a team-high 13 in
the Lions 3-1 win over UT Permian Basin. She had five
kills in the deciding fourth set against UTPB, including
three consecu ve points down the stretch to give
A&M-Commerce the win. She had four or more kills in
four of her eight sets played with a hi ng percentage
of .250. She led the Lions with 11 kills against West
Texas A&M, including four kills in both the first and
fourth set.
Ashley Bukowski, Texas A&M University-Kingsville,
had a storybook ending to the regular season as she
became the ninth player in program history to reach
1,000 career kills in front of her home crowd. The
Harlingen resident hit .256 and gathered 20.5 points
in six total sets. Bukowski recorded nine kills against
both Midwestern State and Cameron and added two
aces this weekend.
Heather Verrill, Western New Mexico, paced the
Lady Mustangs with 31 kills, going for double-digit
kills twice with a high of 13 against Eastern New
Mexico and a 10-kill effort against Angelo State in
which she hit .444. She also added three digs, 16
blocks and 39 points. Verrill also eclipsed 300 kills on
the season. She averaged 2.58 kills, 1.33 blocks and
3.25 points per set.
Tulani Titley, Angelo State University, played a key
role in the Belles offense this week. The freshman
recorded total 19 kills, with a career high 11 kills
coming against Eastern New Mexico. She chalked
a .366 clip for the week leading the team against
Western New Mexico with a .636 hi ng percentage.
Adrianna Knutson, Tarleton State University, was a
defensive force for the TexAnns as she led a sweep of
the New Mexico road swing last weekend. Knutson
totaled 32 digs in eight sets, including 18 in Saturday’s
sweep of Eastern New Mexico in Portales. Knutson
boasted a perfect 1.000 service recep on percentage
on 18 a empts while anchoring the Tarleton defense
that held its opponents to a .119 hi ng percentage.
Tarleton became the only team in the Lone Star
Conference this season to win both games of the New
Mexico road trip this season.
Ashley Mireles, Texas A&M University-Commerce,
had 16 digs in each of her matches this week. She
had zero recep on errors in both matches, giving her
16 games this season without a recep on error. She
also contributed on the offensive end. She had two
service aces and ten assists, including eight assists
in A&M-Commerce’s four set win over UT Permian
Basin, with three coming in the Lions 25-14 win in the
second set.
Tulani Titley, Angelo State University, con nued to
dominate the net this week leading Angelo State with
12 total blocks for the Belles pair of matches. Against
ENMU, the Houston na ve recorded a team and
career high seven total blocks. The freshman then led
the squad with five total block the next day as the
Belles faces Western New Mexico.
Shannon Rich, Western New Mexico, led the block
a ack with 18 blocks, pos ng a high of seven twice
against Eastern New Mexico and Tarleton State. She
tallied a 15.5 point match against Tarleton State in
which she added 11 kills and hit .381. She tallied 23
kills in the three matches, two assists, a service ace,
two digs and 33 points. Rich averaged 1.92 kills, 1.50
blocks and 2.75 points per set.
Meghan Parker, Angelo State University, completed
her regular season with 77 total assist for the week,
which averaged her 9.62 assists per set. The freshman
also assisted the ASU defensive efforts with 18 total
digs for the week. This included an 11 dig showing
against ENMU that marked her eight double-double
this season.
Gabriela Rosa, Texas A&M University-Commerce,
had 21 assists in A&M-Commerce’s 3-1 win over UT
Permian Basin. She had seven assists in their 25-14
win in the second set and eight in the deciding fourth
set. She also had six service aces in the third set
against UTPB, including three consecu ve aces. It was
the most aces by a single Lion player in a game this
season. She also had 19 assists in the Lions four-set
loss to West Texas A&M, including seven in the final
set.
Cristal Carrizoza, Western New Mexico, dished out
60 assists, with a high of 25 against Tarleton State and
added 22 versus Eastern New Mexico. She also added
five kills, two service aces, 14 digs and seven points.
Carrizoza averaged 5.00 assists and 1.17 digs per set.

Angelo State
The Belles capped the regular season going 28-3
overall and 18-2 in conference play earning its ninth
regular season LSC tle. Senior Mallory Blauser led
the a ack with 26 total kills, averaging 3.25 kills per
set. Heading the defense was libero Mallory Davidson,
who recorded 37 digs for the pair of matches. This
averaged her 4.62 digs per set. Also, turning in big
numbers for the Belles was outside hi er Brianna
Sotello. The junior out of San Antonio, Texas, was
second on the squad dona ng 23 kills to the a ack
and 12 total digs to the defense.

Eastern New Mexico
The Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds went 2-1 this
past week, picking up wins over Western New Mexico
and 10th-ranked Angelo State while falling to Tarleton
State on Senior Day at Greyhound Arena. The victory
over Angelo State was the first victory over a top-10
program and arguably the biggest in program history.
Senior Lauren Frye con nues her assault on the
record book this week at the Lone Star Conference
Tournament, needing 19 kills to break the all- me

Mexico road swing as the TexAnns rallied back from a
0-2 deficit to take care of Western New Mexico in five
sets before sweeping Eastern New Mexico to close
out the regular season Saturday. The TexAnns secured
the No. 2 seed in the LSC Championship Tournament
and will square off with Western New Mexico at 2:30
p.m. Thursday in the tournament quarterfinals.
Texas A&M-Commerce
For the second consecu ve week, the A&M-
Commerce Lions were ranked eighth in the South
Central Region standings. They went 1-1 with a win
over UT Permian Basin and a loss to West Texas A&M.
The lost to WT broke a six-game winning streak, their
longest win streak since 2009 and longest under coach
Craig Case. The Lions finished with a 19-12 regular
season record, their highest win total since the 2013
season. They finished with a 13-7 conference record,
their highest conference win total in history. The last
me the Lions won at least 12 conference games was
in 1988, when they went 12-2 in conference play.
They enter the LSC tournament ed for fourth place
but as the fi h seed and will face Eastern New Mexico
in the first round.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
The Javelinas close out the best season in the
programs history with back-to-back sweeps at home
against Midwestern State and Cameron. Texas A&M-
Kingsville enters the LSC Championships on a five-
match winning streak and have lost just one set in
those five matches. As the No. 3 seed, the Hogs will
have the first match of the tournament against No.
6 West Texas A&M whom they swept in the season-
series for the first me since 2004.
Texas Woman’s
TWU dropped a 3-0 decision at West Texas A&M
Friday before losing a grueling 3-2 match at UT
Permian Basin where the fi h set was not determined
un l 22-20.

Western New Mexico
The Lady Mustangs had a tough three-match stretch
to end the regular season at home falling to Eastern
New Mexico, Tarleton State and Angelo State. WNMU
came close to pulling out the big win against Tarleton
State before falling in five. In addi on to strong
performances by Heather Verrill, Shannon Rich and
Cristal Carrizoza, Samantha Haupeakui added 28
kills, Morgan Lyneis with 26, Melanie Hughes with
60 assists and Ashley Mataele recorded 49 digs.
Verrill paced the Lady Mustangs with 31 kills, going
for double-digit kills twice with a high of 13 against
Eastern New Mexico and a 10-kill effort against
Angelo State in which she hit .444. She also added
