double of the year with 16 kills and 25 digs, tying her
career-high, in a five-set thriller at Cameron.
Morgan Seaton, Angelo State University, has
emerged as a force to be reckoned with for the
ASU offense. Last week the sophomore boasted an
outstanding .341 hitting percentage, while tallying 37
kills averaging 2.64 kills per set. She also added eight
total blocks to assist the Belles defense efforts for the
week. In dual matches on Friday, the middle blocker
marked double digit kills (16, 12) and sported over
a .360 clip in each match. She has now hit double-
digit kills in five matches in the month of October.
Defensively, Seaton chalked up a season high five
blocks in the second match of the day against St.
Mary’s.
Courtney Lawson, Eastern New Mexico University,
led the team with a .258 hitting percentage and a
team high five service aces... The all-around player
also helped out on the defensive side of the net,
recording 25 digs and six total blocks.. her 13 kills and
10 digs against Texas Woman’s gave Lawson her fifth
double-double of the season, which is the most by a
player in a single season since 2001.
Brett Zaccardo, Texas A&M University-Kingsville,
registered 48 digs for 5.33 d/s while helping lead Texas
A&M-Kingsville to two road conference victories. She
finished with 23 digs at Midwestern State and up her
total to 25 against Cameron. For the season, Zaccardo
now has nine matches of at least 20 digs this year and
increased her d/s mark to 4.99.
Katie MacLeay, Angelo State University, continues
to be an anchor for the Belles defense tallying 65 digs
in last week’s competition averaging 4.64 digs per set.
The senior added three services aces, 17 assist and a
.500 clip to her numbers for the week. She currently
sits on top of the LSC with 520 total digs and a 5.59
dig per set average on the year. The libero also leads
ASU with 19 total service aces and is second on the
squad with 89 assists.
Lauren Britten, West Texas A&M University, had
another strong week in the back row for the Lady
Buffs as the junior registered 51 total digs in three
matches during 11 sets to move her season total to
307 for an average of 3.53 per frame. The Amarillo
native also moved herself into the Top-10 all-time
in Lady Buff history on the career digs list at 1,432
to rank 10th in program history to pass former All-
American and WT Hall of Champions inductee Kendra
Morgan (2000-03) with 1,413.
Hillary Shaffer, Texas Woman’s University,
helped the Pioneers to three wins with a dominant
performance at the net. She recorded a team-best
17 total blocks and a .388 hitting percentage. Shaffer
also had 35 kills and led the team in kills in two of
the three games. She led the game with 17 kills and
8 blocks against West Texas A&M and then added 10
kills and five blocks against Eastern New Mexico. On
the season she leads the team with 84 blocks and a
.344 hitting percentage. Shaffer also has 219 kills.
Taryn Driver, Texas A&M University-Commerce,
had a big weekend on offense but it was her defensive
efforts that really helped spark the Lions. Teams
struggled this weekend getting kills on the outside
where Driver was. Eastern New Mexico could not
catch a break after Driver scorched the Greyhounds
with eight blocks.
Maggi Jo Keffury, Angelo State University, the
Belles assist leader, once again had another solid
week tallying 169 total assists hitting 12.07 per set.

set average to the defensive cause. She also marked
two career highs last weekend with 22 digs being
tallied against Dallas Baptist and 64 assists coming in
the second match of the day against St. Mary’s. The
total assists allowed the setter to top the 1000 season
assist mark and gain ground on claiming the number
six all-time assist spot in the ASU history books.
Courtney Tate, Texas A&M University-Commerce,
was phenomenal this past week as she set the offense
up effectively. Because of her effective setting, Tate
was able to sneak in 10 kills averaging one kill per set.
Chandler Gow, Tarleton State University, continued
to drive the conference’s top-ranked offensive unit

Star Conference standings. Gow had at least 44 assists
