3. Research
• A strength on research is that you can look at existing products and look at the different ideas that are
used on them that you could include onto your products. From looking at different existing products I
was able to get an overview at the different colour schemes and detail I could put on my products to
make them look real and effective.
• Doing a questionnaire is another strength of research as you can produce a load of questions that will
help you to plan your products and you can get other peoples opinions on your product to help to
improve. Creating and having people answer my questionnaire helped me to see what I needed to
include on my products that would interest my whole audience.
• A weakness of research is that the existing products may not help with what details or ideas that will suit
your products making it harder for you to plan your products with ideas that will appeal to your
audience. I think I could of explored a few more of each product to help me come up with a range of
ideas for my products instead of just basing it off one existing product. If I had improved on this I would
have had a range of different ideas and different details I could include.
• A weakness for the questionnaire was that the answer you received may not be the answers you were
expecting and could make you need to change your products to suit the audience. I think the questions I
used weren’t very good and I should have asked for the different detail people wanted instead of
opinions my products as it would have helped for me to see what style and themes people would like
the most
• Interviews is another form of research which I included in my project.
• A strength of interviews is that you can include specific questions that link with your project and can get
a variety of responses and see whether your project will appeal a wide range audience.
• A weakness of interviews is that you may not get the response you wanted and see that not as many
people will enjoy the product. I think that this is a weakness that happened in my project as I think the
questions used didn’t fit enough with the project and made the audience not as interested.
4. Planning
• A strength of planning is that you are able to put all your first thoughts down, you
can put everything together so that by the end you have lots of different ideas
altogether, this helps to see what different things you can do and help to narrow
down what products you can make best.
• Having everything all together will help you to pick the 3 products you want to
make as you can see which will appeal most to your target audience and what they
will enjoy. This also helps to create your mood board to create ideas for your final
products.
• A weakness was having to pick what ideas I wanted to do as I had 3 main ideas
with 3 different ideas which made it hard for me to pick which ones I wanted to do
I would have improved by already having a main idea and sticking with that before
thinking of the other ideas.
• A weakness of planning was that I had to think of 3 different ideas for each idea I
had chosen, I think I could have improved my ideas by seeing what was popular for
bands and making products based off what my audience would enjoy.
• Another weakness of planning was my mood board as I think I should of explored
my ideas and different styles to see if I could improve my original ideas.
5. Time Management
• I think overall I did manage my time well as all my work was handed in on time with lots
of detail and well thought out. All of my products turned out the way I wanted them
and I got to improve them from my original ideas and made them match the theme and
target audience. I think I took enough time on each of my products and made them
look as good as I could.
• If I had more time on my project I think I would have done more research on each of my
products to look at different ideas so I had a range of ideas I could’ve used for my
products to see if any would have looked better.
• Overall I am happy with how my products turned out and that I got everything done on
time and it all looks effective and detailed.
• I already had an idea that I was going to do a Band project as I hadn’t done anything like
it before and could create things I hadn’t made before so this was easy for my to
complete initial plans and research done quickly
• I knew I would be able to get models for the band and I would also include myself.
• An issue I had was I wasn’t able to take my photos for my band as soon as I needed
them as it was hard to find a day when all the models could meet, I managed to get a
day but there isn’t as many people in the photo as I wanted.
• I didn’t have any issues with software or resources so it made it easier to meet
deadlines.
7. • The similarities of my T-shirt compared to the existing product is that they both
include a photo of the band in the middle of the t-shirt making it easy for the target
audience to see what band is being shown.
• Another similarity is they both have the name of the band somewhere on the T-
shirt also showing to the audience who is being seen on the T-shirt and what the
name of the band is.
• A difference of my T-shirt and the existing product is the colour scheme as my T-
shirt is bright and follows a theme whereas the existing T-shirt is just white and
follows a different colour scheme and theme than what my product does.
• A similarity of my magazine article and the existing article is the layout, as the
existing magazine article has the photos at the top of the page and the writing
underneath, which is the same as I set mine out. They both include columns for the
writing which makes them both look realistic and effective.
• A difference of the products is that the existing product includes more colour and
has different colours throughout the article whereas my magazine article only
includes one colour at the top of the magazine helping it stick to the theme but
makes it less eye catching for my audience.
• A similarity of the existing product and my own product is they both have a photo
of the band as the main focus of the CD cover showing to the audience who the CD
is by.
• The also both include the name of the band and the name of the CD making it more
appealing to the audience as they can see the name and the name of the band.
• A weakness is that my CD cover follows a theme which is shown throughout all my
products and makes it more appealing for my audience whereas the existing CD
cover does not follow a similar theme and does not link with any other products.
9. • Overall I think my work does look good and creative as they are all my own ideas and the
ideas are original as all 3 have their own theme and it follows through each product. I like
the aspect that they all link together and shows they are from the band and makes it more
known to the audience.
• If I was to improve, I think I would have added more detail onto my CD cover and T-shirt as
I feel if I had researched more I could have had more things to add onto them helping
them to improve and look more effective.
• A strength of products is that they all include a photo of the band so that they all link
together and helps to show straight away who the products are about.
• You are able to see the theme straight away and it all fits together with the name “Olivia’s
Angels” this is a strength as it makes it more appealing for my audience and makes it eye
catching
• A weakness is some of the products could include some more detail to make them look
more realistic for my audience.
• When looking at the products you are able to see that they all link with each other and
have a running theme through them.
• The colour scheme is the same with all 3 of my products making it appealing and links
them all together.
• I think the images and details I have used on my products are similar to the existing
products I have researched as they include themes and different details to make certain
things stand out.
• A difference is that with the existing products I researched you can see that not all of them
have a theme running throughout them all showing that my products are more creative
and thoughtful.
10. Audience Appeal
My primary target audience is ages 13-30 I think the products I
have created will appeal to my target audience as it is girly and is
eye catching as it is colourful.
I think all my products will appeal to my audience but a specific
bit of content that will appeal most is the theme of my products
as you can see from them all being together they all have little
bits of detail that make them link together, I think this makes the
products more effective and is easy to be seen helping my
audience to see and make it appeal to them. With my primary
audience being female I think that the products will appeal most
to them and suit them the most as the colour scheme is girly and
feminine.
From my questionnaire all my audience listen to music so having
my products based off music will appeal to them as it is
something they are interested in. Most of them also listen to
bands so having my products include a band will help appeal to
them.
70% of my audience say that merchandise should be colourful
and fun which the merchandise I created is bright and fun so it
will appeal to my target audience.
Overall I think my products will appeal to my audience as the
detail used is effective and it is all eye catching to my audience.
12. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the colours you’ve used on your products. I
also like the overall layout as well as the images
used.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I think you could try and experiment with more
than just one colour.
13. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– The uses of the colour scheme the t-shirt was
good, with the layout as well by having the not
crowded with other things on it.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I would improve the fonts, also the size of text to
make it easier to read.
14. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the overall design especially the t-shirt and the magazine article
with the halo and wings being in the background also creating a water
mark so it is harder to edit by someone else. There are some kinks here
and there that could be improved on.
1. The fonts aren’t all the same I can see you used a different font for the
CD cover, it would be nicer and more consistent if you kept all 3.
2. The halo on the pieces are inconsistent, on 2 of them they are over the
group but on the t-shirt it is over the text, this is most likely a design
choice, I think it would be nicer if it was all the same.
3. I think that showing the textbox is not needed and removing it will
make it look more professional.
4. With the t-shirt and the CD cover, I’m not keen on the flat bottom of
the group to fix this for the CD cover you can just rearrange it by
moving the group and the halo to the bottom and the text to the top,
but with the t-shirt it is harder to do because if it’s at the very bottom
of the t-shirt it will leave lots of emptiness so a simple rearrangement
wouldn’t work.
15. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree with the feedback from my peers about the details and colours
used on my products and the layout of each product. I agree with the
feedback of the use of my photos.
– I also agree with making my font bigger on my magazine so that it is
easier for people to read as my target audience may find it difficult.
– I agree with the flat bottoms of my photos as it makes it look less realistic.
– Adding more colour other than pink I also agree with.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– I disagree with not being consistent of the halo as I feel that where I have
placed the halos on my products are in good places and fit in with what
the product is and help to fill up space.
– I disagree with the text box also on my CD cover as I think that it makes
the title of the CD and the name of the band stand out from the rest so
that it is a main focus.
16. Peer Feedback Summary
The changes I would make for my products is some of the photos have flat
bottoms but are shown in the middle of product so you are able to see the bottom
of the photo making it look less realistic so I would change the positions of these
photos so that the photo looks more effective on the product. I would achieve this
by moving my photos near the bottom of the product or use photoshop to sort
this out. I think this will appeal more to my audience as it makes it more realistic
and more appealing for my audience.
I would also change the size of my font as for my magazine there is a lot of writing
on it so it may be hard for people to read so I would make my font larger so that
everyone is able to read it. This would be an easy change to make and will benefit
my audience and help them to enjoy the product more.
From my feedback I would add more colour other than pink so that it makes it
more colourful and bright, even though pink is the main colour for my products I
think adding more colour would make it more eye catching for my audience.
Overall I think that I just need to make little changes to my products to make it
appeal more to my audience.
