Research
• Strengths:
– The strengths for research helped a lot because I can write about the magazine or what the product was so
I can look back to what I thought looked good on that specific product to then see if that worked for my
product. When I was looking existing products I wanted to see what I liked to se if it worked with my
product for example with my magazine cover I look at a billboard magazine with Katy Perry on the front I
liked the one bold colour as the background so I thought I would add that to my work as its bright and bold
that might attract people as its bright. Another thing is with the existing cover with Katy Perry on it her
name is bigger than the other information on the cover which I like so I wanted to add that to my work too
which I did where it says Maisie Brown.
– Another strength for the research PowerPoint was the questionnaire. This helped a lot as I asked my
audience questions about my products to then get feedback from them to then see what they liked for my
final project, this helped as I can make my products the way they want it as it might attract more people as
they’re giving me feedback to make my product the best it can be.
– Also with the strengths I can pick my own questions that I want to be answered by my audience to see what
they wanted to say about it which is good when it comes to doing my products.
• Weaknesses:
– The weaknesses for the research work is that in the questionnaire I found sometimes I couldn't pick what
the audience wanted as all the results I got might of all been different which didn't really help with what I
should of picked for my product. So I had to then pick which one might be the best to go with for my
products. Another weakness is that I can’t change what my audience wants as its general I can’t control
what they say, which might be hard when coming to see my results at the end when I’m wanting to start my
product.
– What I could of improved in my research is making sure I looked at other products a lot more so I can get
better ideas when I come to asking question or when researching if I'm finding the correct information for
my final work to make it the best it can be.
– With my interview I got more of an specific answer which summarises the questionnaire which helps when
it comes to checking back to what my audience says to my questions that I asked.
Planning
• Strengths:
– The strengths for planning was that it was very helpful when I thought of ideas for my
products as I could expand them to get more ideas out of that specific idea I have wrote
about it to make it the best it can be.
– Another strength for planning is I can find ideas that link to the ideas I have thought of
to make my work have an image to it. Also having a plan of when I want everything to be
done by, so I have a time limit which helps when I want to complete my work to its best
standards.
• Disadvantages:
– The disadvantages to planning is that it may take a while to think of ideas if you’re
struggling on what you’re wanting to do.
– Might think if something to do to make your work even better but you might forget it by
not writing it down in time.
– Another thing is that you might not be able to find images that fit to what you’re
wanting to do for your project, to then show the audience what you might want your
products similar to.
Time Management
• I feel with time management, I did it in a good time by making sure I had
enough spare time to check if its at its best standards by checking spellings
and if I have enough on there. What helped with managing my time was the
slide on pre-production, where I can write down what I want to do on that
specific day which is helpful because it keeps you organised. You can also look
back if you’re not sure what to do on that day.
• If I did have more time I think I would see if I liked my ideas, as I got half way in
the work and started to dislike the idea of it. However I felt like it was too late
to start over again so I had to carry on to try and make it look its best even
though I wasn’t sure about it.
• I felt in initial plans it went a little slow as I found it hard to think of ideas for
my products, which I think is why I'm not so keen on my work as I couldn’t
really think of a lot of ideas so I just went with the theme music.
• I also felt that that with research it took me a while to find pictures that were
music based or there was a few but not the theme I wanted it to look like,
which was pastel colours as the other ones I found were all dark and rock
music.
Technical Qualities
My work compared to this other product has some similarities
by it both having the one bold colour for the background
which pops the most. Also how it has the name of the singer
in bold, mine also has that to represent the singer and is clear
to the audience.
Another similarity is that they both have a pop of colour,
along with the background. In the existing product it has the
other colours in the name of the magazine, where mine is in
the boxed making the important information stand out the
most.
The differences with the existing product and mine is that I
have my name of the magazine vertical. I did this because I
felt it was different to other magazines as they usually have
the name at the top horizontal. Where the exciting product is
horizontal which is a big difference as they’re in different
places. Another difference is that it has more text, meaning it
might have more information to it then mine as mine is quite
bland. However mine might attract people as well because it
has lest text on it which people might like.
Technical Qualities
The similarities with my tour poster and the existing one is
that they both have the dates and tours at the bottom of the
page to let people know where and when to go see them.
Another similarity is the name its at the top of the page
making it obvious to the audiences to see who it is.
Also another similarity is that there's an image in the middle
of the poster which also lets the audience know who they're
if they don’t recognize the name first.
The differences is that they both have different colours to
them and different styles as you can see with the existing
product it has a circle around the female and looks more
earthy looking, where my product has one colour to it as the
background then has different shades of yellow where the
dates are to make them obvious for the audience instead of
them having to look for where they are, they will be able to
notice it straight away.
Technical Qualities
The similarities with the existing product and my product is that
there is one solid colour for the background where the existing
one has different colours in the centre, which draws your eyes to
that specific area as its got multiple colours in it.
Another similarity is that there’s a circle like the existing one and
mine on the front which makes your eyes come to the centre of
the page as there's not a lot else going on around the circle. With
the back of the cd cover is has a female on the side like mine which
gives more character to the cover then just having words on it and
that's it. Then with the names of the songs on the other side so
you can see what songs the artist sings instead of having to go
through the album to find the song you want. I personally feel that
it’s good to have the singer on the front and back because the cd
cover might brake so by having the artist on the back as well you
will still know which artist sang what.
The differences between mine and the existing product is again
different colour scheme, as it has multiple colours to it where mine
only has a few to it, which are pink meaning that it’s a pretty
colour shows love and happiness, white that shows that its clean
and bright then with yellow it shows joy and summer which makes
people happier. Also it doesn’t have a model on it, its only got a
circle where mine has a circle around the model to make her stand
out the most on the cover. Another difference is the back cover
has a city as the background where mine is just one colour.
Aesthetic Qualities
I personally think with my work it doesn’t look it’s best, I think this
because I don't particularly like my images that were taken as they don’t
look professionally taken in a studio, it was just taken in the models
house. So I would change my images to make it look more realistic. I
also think that it looks simple, if I could change something about my
products I would change the theme of it all as there's nothing unique
about it and is quite boring to look at. I don’t think is was creative or
original so I would change the look and theme to my work.
I would improve it by thinking of better ideas for my initial plans and
research as I felt that music theme was hard to think of original ideas as
you have to make it up where music is based on famous people so its
hard to write things about it as my model isn't famous. So I think I
would just change the topic I was on to maybe fashion or
makeup/skincare.
The strengths to my work is that most my products look like what they
should be which is a magazine, tour poster and cd cover I did this by
looking at existing products to then collect ideas to and put them in
mine.
The weaknesses to my work is that I feel that they’re very bland, that
there’s not a lot of stuff is happening when I wish there was, but I found
it too hard to think of things to write about as there’s not a lot of
popular music magazines around because not a lot of people read
magazines anymore.
Audience Appeal
SHUFFLE
Pastels
Primary
colours
I feel like I have appealed to my target
audience, I did this by using the ones they
voted for in my questionnaire which is in my
research PowerPoint, for example the
information I used that my audience wanted
was the pastel colours which also got the same
amount of votes as primary colours so I picked
the one I though would look best which was
pastels. Also the name for my products which is
‘SHUFFLE’ which got picked by a lot of people.
By me using the results my audience picked and
including that in my work it brings them into it
because I picked the ones they liked the most. I
think the main specific bit of content that
appealed to my target audiences the most is
the name of my products as that won by far
and they will notice that as the other ones
didn’t get a lot of votes so most people will
hopefully notice it from voting Shuffle.
Peer
Feedback
Feedback 1
Male, 16 years old.
• What did you like about the product?
– Through out the work there is a lot of consistency, and the colours don’t clash. Also
the font for the buzz word and the overlapping for the name font for the model.
– The fonts for the tour poster, fit very well with the style that is portrayed. Also the
sizing for words to the master head is very equal and shows more consistency.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– The font for the main text is quite misleading as 1 looks like an I, which could
through off readers.
– On the tour poster some of the locations are not lined up properly.
– The colours are quite bland for the cd cover, as with a cd cover there tends to be 2
sides. (8/05/2018)
(15/05/18) I've done a back cover for the cd cover can see it in my production
reflection PowerPoint.
Feedback 2
Female, 18 years old.
• What did you like about the product?
– I really like the colours of the products, it is quite easy to know that is
from the same celebrity. I also like the font that you have chosen to
use on the masthead which I think is really eye catching.
– The colours of the model’s clothes match with the background and I
think this make the products attractive.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
– On the masthead of the CD cover is blurry, I think next time you should
make sure that the font is with high quality. The back of the CD cover
have lots of empty space, maybe you could add some lines in the back
or shapes in the same colour, but a little bit dark.
– Some images are dark, next time you can try add some effects or
lighting in the image.
Feedback 3
Female, 17 years old.
• What did you like about the product?
– I like how all the colours match each other so you know they all
link together with that artist.
– I like the font that was used through it all to make them all look
like they’re together.
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
– I feel like he cd cover and the tour poster are quite bland that
they don’t have a lot of information on them could add more
text or add pictures/shapes to it to make it pop more.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree that some of my products are quite bland that
there’s not a lot happening, I also I agree with the model
the image is quite dark so I would make that look brighter.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– What I disagree with is on feedback 1 is saying that the
dates and locations aren't lined up which I feel that you
can’t really notice that much and when I went to see if I
could line them up it would keep moving past the other.
Peer Feedback Summary
– The changes I would make Is add more to the backgrounds
like shapes in the background like feedback 2 says about
making them darker to add more character to it than just
having a bland background it might add more to it.
– Another thing is I would make the model look brighter as
its quite dark on some of my products.
– I would also add more text to my work as its quite empty
in some parts.
Feedback ChangesBased on my feedback I added the shape hexagons in the
background. I did this because I felt like it looked bland
before so by adding the hexagons it added depth/texture
to my product rather than it just being plain which I
didn’t really like because there wasn’t a lot going on.
Also with the shapes on the magazine I didn’t want the
shapes to stand out too much near the bottom as there's
writing, so I started to fade the shade of the shapes as I
worked down the page. I did this by selecting the row I
wanted to fade and then clicked on opacity and kept
lowering it each row I went to create a radiant.
I also wanted to change the background to
something more exciting to look at so I followed
my feedback with the cd covers as well as the
magazine cover. The only think I did different with
the cd cover was the shapes in the magazine
cover one I had the shape as hexagons and then
with the cd covers I had triangles to make it look
different a little bit as everything with my
products have the same colour and font so I
thought I would change it up a little. Also felt that
it looked a little too much with the white boarder
around the edges so I thought I would remove
them and kept the pink boarder as it keeps it
looking neat.
Caring on with the shapes
I wanted to add shapes to
my tour poster as well so I
added diamonds. i did this
because of the same
reason with the other
ones as its quite bland to
look at so by adding
shapes in the background
it creates texture to the
work.
• The reason why I made it a pastel colour was because when I did my questionnaire the audience voting on what
they liked the most for example for the colour scheme there was pastels, primary colours and neutrals and the
colour that got picked the most was pastels so I chose that colour to go in my work. This helped me plan what I
wanted to do easier as the audience chose what they thought would look good or just what they prefer which
helps if a lot of people like that specific colour, more people will be attracted to my work.
• With the images, I chose theses because I felt they suited the specific product for example with the magazine I
liked this one because I wanted the image of the model to stand up in the centre of the page but still have enough
space for writing around the cover of the magazine.
I chose theses fonts for my products because I wanted the fonts to be the same in every product just like the
colour. However with this font I felt that it worked ok for the sub heading as it draws you into the bit by using the
same font, however it didn't really work and I didn't want to change the sub heading so I kept it the same but
some words didn't look right because of the font.
• What I would add to my work is having more information on the cover to the magazine to make it look a lot
more eye catching as its quite bland. I think as well if I had more information on the cover I feel that my spacing
of the writing would look better, how it looks empty at the top of the page so if I had more to it I think it would
look more like a magazine.
• With the aging I feel that most teenager girls aged 16-19 will be the most interested because of the singer being
a female and having a similar age to them as well, it will attract that age the most. However I find that males will
be attracted to the music because the music isn't all girly so males wont just think that the singer only sings girly
things. Also the older audience it wont have any offensive material to it so it wont offend anyone, as the music is
for everyone so no one will be offended by it.
With the social status in my initial plans I mentioned in the choices slide that the age, gender, social status and
psychographic in the PowerPoint about that it wont offend anyone by it not having any offensive material to it
and that its made for everyone so everyone will hopefully like it. I've done that so every social status and
psychographic will enjoy it too than it being selected to who can listen to the music.

7. FMP Evaluation

  • 3. Research • Strengths: – The strengths for research helped a lot because I can write about the magazine or what the product was so I can look back to what I thought looked good on that specific product to then see if that worked for my product. When I was looking existing products I wanted to see what I liked to se if it worked with my product for example with my magazine cover I look at a billboard magazine with Katy Perry on the front I liked the one bold colour as the background so I thought I would add that to my work as its bright and bold that might attract people as its bright. Another thing is with the existing cover with Katy Perry on it her name is bigger than the other information on the cover which I like so I wanted to add that to my work too which I did where it says Maisie Brown. – Another strength for the research PowerPoint was the questionnaire. This helped a lot as I asked my audience questions about my products to then get feedback from them to then see what they liked for my final project, this helped as I can make my products the way they want it as it might attract more people as they’re giving me feedback to make my product the best it can be. – Also with the strengths I can pick my own questions that I want to be answered by my audience to see what they wanted to say about it which is good when it comes to doing my products. • Weaknesses: – The weaknesses for the research work is that in the questionnaire I found sometimes I couldn't pick what the audience wanted as all the results I got might of all been different which didn't really help with what I should of picked for my product. So I had to then pick which one might be the best to go with for my products. Another weakness is that I can’t change what my audience wants as its general I can’t control what they say, which might be hard when coming to see my results at the end when I’m wanting to start my product. – What I could of improved in my research is making sure I looked at other products a lot more so I can get better ideas when I come to asking question or when researching if I'm finding the correct information for my final work to make it the best it can be. – With my interview I got more of an specific answer which summarises the questionnaire which helps when it comes to checking back to what my audience says to my questions that I asked.
  • 4. Planning • Strengths: – The strengths for planning was that it was very helpful when I thought of ideas for my products as I could expand them to get more ideas out of that specific idea I have wrote about it to make it the best it can be. – Another strength for planning is I can find ideas that link to the ideas I have thought of to make my work have an image to it. Also having a plan of when I want everything to be done by, so I have a time limit which helps when I want to complete my work to its best standards. • Disadvantages: – The disadvantages to planning is that it may take a while to think of ideas if you’re struggling on what you’re wanting to do. – Might think if something to do to make your work even better but you might forget it by not writing it down in time. – Another thing is that you might not be able to find images that fit to what you’re wanting to do for your project, to then show the audience what you might want your products similar to.
  • 5. Time Management • I feel with time management, I did it in a good time by making sure I had enough spare time to check if its at its best standards by checking spellings and if I have enough on there. What helped with managing my time was the slide on pre-production, where I can write down what I want to do on that specific day which is helpful because it keeps you organised. You can also look back if you’re not sure what to do on that day. • If I did have more time I think I would see if I liked my ideas, as I got half way in the work and started to dislike the idea of it. However I felt like it was too late to start over again so I had to carry on to try and make it look its best even though I wasn’t sure about it. • I felt in initial plans it went a little slow as I found it hard to think of ideas for my products, which I think is why I'm not so keen on my work as I couldn’t really think of a lot of ideas so I just went with the theme music. • I also felt that that with research it took me a while to find pictures that were music based or there was a few but not the theme I wanted it to look like, which was pastel colours as the other ones I found were all dark and rock music.
  • 6. Technical Qualities My work compared to this other product has some similarities by it both having the one bold colour for the background which pops the most. Also how it has the name of the singer in bold, mine also has that to represent the singer and is clear to the audience. Another similarity is that they both have a pop of colour, along with the background. In the existing product it has the other colours in the name of the magazine, where mine is in the boxed making the important information stand out the most. The differences with the existing product and mine is that I have my name of the magazine vertical. I did this because I felt it was different to other magazines as they usually have the name at the top horizontal. Where the exciting product is horizontal which is a big difference as they’re in different places. Another difference is that it has more text, meaning it might have more information to it then mine as mine is quite bland. However mine might attract people as well because it has lest text on it which people might like.
  • 7. Technical Qualities The similarities with my tour poster and the existing one is that they both have the dates and tours at the bottom of the page to let people know where and when to go see them. Another similarity is the name its at the top of the page making it obvious to the audiences to see who it is. Also another similarity is that there's an image in the middle of the poster which also lets the audience know who they're if they don’t recognize the name first. The differences is that they both have different colours to them and different styles as you can see with the existing product it has a circle around the female and looks more earthy looking, where my product has one colour to it as the background then has different shades of yellow where the dates are to make them obvious for the audience instead of them having to look for where they are, they will be able to notice it straight away.
  • 8. Technical Qualities The similarities with the existing product and my product is that there is one solid colour for the background where the existing one has different colours in the centre, which draws your eyes to that specific area as its got multiple colours in it. Another similarity is that there’s a circle like the existing one and mine on the front which makes your eyes come to the centre of the page as there's not a lot else going on around the circle. With the back of the cd cover is has a female on the side like mine which gives more character to the cover then just having words on it and that's it. Then with the names of the songs on the other side so you can see what songs the artist sings instead of having to go through the album to find the song you want. I personally feel that it’s good to have the singer on the front and back because the cd cover might brake so by having the artist on the back as well you will still know which artist sang what. The differences between mine and the existing product is again different colour scheme, as it has multiple colours to it where mine only has a few to it, which are pink meaning that it’s a pretty colour shows love and happiness, white that shows that its clean and bright then with yellow it shows joy and summer which makes people happier. Also it doesn’t have a model on it, its only got a circle where mine has a circle around the model to make her stand out the most on the cover. Another difference is the back cover has a city as the background where mine is just one colour.
  • 9. Aesthetic Qualities I personally think with my work it doesn’t look it’s best, I think this because I don't particularly like my images that were taken as they don’t look professionally taken in a studio, it was just taken in the models house. So I would change my images to make it look more realistic. I also think that it looks simple, if I could change something about my products I would change the theme of it all as there's nothing unique about it and is quite boring to look at. I don’t think is was creative or original so I would change the look and theme to my work. I would improve it by thinking of better ideas for my initial plans and research as I felt that music theme was hard to think of original ideas as you have to make it up where music is based on famous people so its hard to write things about it as my model isn't famous. So I think I would just change the topic I was on to maybe fashion or makeup/skincare. The strengths to my work is that most my products look like what they should be which is a magazine, tour poster and cd cover I did this by looking at existing products to then collect ideas to and put them in mine. The weaknesses to my work is that I feel that they’re very bland, that there’s not a lot of stuff is happening when I wish there was, but I found it too hard to think of things to write about as there’s not a lot of popular music magazines around because not a lot of people read magazines anymore.
  • 10. Audience Appeal SHUFFLE Pastels Primary colours I feel like I have appealed to my target audience, I did this by using the ones they voted for in my questionnaire which is in my research PowerPoint, for example the information I used that my audience wanted was the pastel colours which also got the same amount of votes as primary colours so I picked the one I though would look best which was pastels. Also the name for my products which is ‘SHUFFLE’ which got picked by a lot of people. By me using the results my audience picked and including that in my work it brings them into it because I picked the ones they liked the most. I think the main specific bit of content that appealed to my target audiences the most is the name of my products as that won by far and they will notice that as the other ones didn’t get a lot of votes so most people will hopefully notice it from voting Shuffle.
  • 12. Feedback 1 Male, 16 years old. • What did you like about the product? – Through out the work there is a lot of consistency, and the colours don’t clash. Also the font for the buzz word and the overlapping for the name font for the model. – The fonts for the tour poster, fit very well with the style that is portrayed. Also the sizing for words to the master head is very equal and shows more consistency. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – The font for the main text is quite misleading as 1 looks like an I, which could through off readers. – On the tour poster some of the locations are not lined up properly. – The colours are quite bland for the cd cover, as with a cd cover there tends to be 2 sides. (8/05/2018) (15/05/18) I've done a back cover for the cd cover can see it in my production reflection PowerPoint.
  • 13. Feedback 2 Female, 18 years old. • What did you like about the product? – I really like the colours of the products, it is quite easy to know that is from the same celebrity. I also like the font that you have chosen to use on the masthead which I think is really eye catching. – The colours of the model’s clothes match with the background and I think this make the products attractive. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – On the masthead of the CD cover is blurry, I think next time you should make sure that the font is with high quality. The back of the CD cover have lots of empty space, maybe you could add some lines in the back or shapes in the same colour, but a little bit dark. – Some images are dark, next time you can try add some effects or lighting in the image.
  • 14. Feedback 3 Female, 17 years old. • What did you like about the product? – I like how all the colours match each other so you know they all link together with that artist. – I like the font that was used through it all to make them all look like they’re together. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – I feel like he cd cover and the tour poster are quite bland that they don’t have a lot of information on them could add more text or add pictures/shapes to it to make it pop more.
  • 15. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? – I agree that some of my products are quite bland that there’s not a lot happening, I also I agree with the model the image is quite dark so I would make that look brighter. • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? – What I disagree with is on feedback 1 is saying that the dates and locations aren't lined up which I feel that you can’t really notice that much and when I went to see if I could line them up it would keep moving past the other.
  • 16. Peer Feedback Summary – The changes I would make Is add more to the backgrounds like shapes in the background like feedback 2 says about making them darker to add more character to it than just having a bland background it might add more to it. – Another thing is I would make the model look brighter as its quite dark on some of my products. – I would also add more text to my work as its quite empty in some parts.
  • 17. Feedback ChangesBased on my feedback I added the shape hexagons in the background. I did this because I felt like it looked bland before so by adding the hexagons it added depth/texture to my product rather than it just being plain which I didn’t really like because there wasn’t a lot going on. Also with the shapes on the magazine I didn’t want the shapes to stand out too much near the bottom as there's writing, so I started to fade the shade of the shapes as I worked down the page. I did this by selecting the row I wanted to fade and then clicked on opacity and kept lowering it each row I went to create a radiant. I also wanted to change the background to something more exciting to look at so I followed my feedback with the cd covers as well as the magazine cover. The only think I did different with the cd cover was the shapes in the magazine cover one I had the shape as hexagons and then with the cd covers I had triangles to make it look different a little bit as everything with my products have the same colour and font so I thought I would change it up a little. Also felt that it looked a little too much with the white boarder around the edges so I thought I would remove them and kept the pink boarder as it keeps it looking neat. Caring on with the shapes I wanted to add shapes to my tour poster as well so I added diamonds. i did this because of the same reason with the other ones as its quite bland to look at so by adding shapes in the background it creates texture to the work.
  • 18. • The reason why I made it a pastel colour was because when I did my questionnaire the audience voting on what they liked the most for example for the colour scheme there was pastels, primary colours and neutrals and the colour that got picked the most was pastels so I chose that colour to go in my work. This helped me plan what I wanted to do easier as the audience chose what they thought would look good or just what they prefer which helps if a lot of people like that specific colour, more people will be attracted to my work. • With the images, I chose theses because I felt they suited the specific product for example with the magazine I liked this one because I wanted the image of the model to stand up in the centre of the page but still have enough space for writing around the cover of the magazine. I chose theses fonts for my products because I wanted the fonts to be the same in every product just like the colour. However with this font I felt that it worked ok for the sub heading as it draws you into the bit by using the same font, however it didn't really work and I didn't want to change the sub heading so I kept it the same but some words didn't look right because of the font. • What I would add to my work is having more information on the cover to the magazine to make it look a lot more eye catching as its quite bland. I think as well if I had more information on the cover I feel that my spacing of the writing would look better, how it looks empty at the top of the page so if I had more to it I think it would look more like a magazine. • With the aging I feel that most teenager girls aged 16-19 will be the most interested because of the singer being a female and having a similar age to them as well, it will attract that age the most. However I find that males will be attracted to the music because the music isn't all girly so males wont just think that the singer only sings girly things. Also the older audience it wont have any offensive material to it so it wont offend anyone, as the music is for everyone so no one will be offended by it. With the social status in my initial plans I mentioned in the choices slide that the age, gender, social status and psychographic in the PowerPoint about that it wont offend anyone by it not having any offensive material to it and that its made for everyone so everyone will hopefully like it. I've done that so every social status and psychographic will enjoy it too than it being selected to who can listen to the music.
