Research
• Summary
• In the research I had various different tasks and parts to research, the idea behind research is that I would look into similar existing products, this would be a similar existing product each
of the different types of product that I would be creating, so to start with I would be creating different company logos and so in this research I looked into different company logos in the
media industry and how they are added into different aspects of the work like DVD cover, Poster and short film, this helped me a great deal in seeing how they are presented and I would
defiantly cunt this part of the research as a strength. The next similar existing product was a DVD Cover from a well known horror movie this was to show me how the expensive movies
gave there DVD cover a professional look and I could then look into the aspects of the DVD cover and see what I could include in my own work,, the important part of this is looking at the
different areas of what they have done in the DVD Cover the template and style is important but so is the colour scheme and how it is presented as well as the different connotations that
the DVD cover would have relating to the film and after looking at these aspects it helps show me what I should aim for in my own DVD Cover, I count these aspects of the work as a
strength and found them very helpful on my own work when I was creating it. Other aspects of the DVD Cover was looking at the mise en scene here I research how long they spent
designing the DVD Cover and from this information I could see how long a professional company spent designing the poster with multiple people and this would help me decide how long
I should spend on my DVD cover and from this I can work out the time that I should spend on my own DVD cover and I can build a schedule around this. This is a strength because it gives
me a plan of what to do and what the structure to follow which is. The next part of work that I looked into was the poster for this I looked into a conjuring 2 poster when researching this I
saw how they used colour schemes and imagery to connotate the film, this can be seen by the light and darkness aspects of the poster, this is definitely a strength because it shows me as
a creator how a professional company produce a poster for there films and it also gives me a template to follow for the poster which is a strength because it shows me what I need to
include. I then researched a movie that was within the same genre as m short film and this meant that I was able to see how they opened up with there company logos what animations
they used and how the colour scheme and lighting looked on this movie which showed me how I could create a similar style and look to the work, the mise en scene of the movie was a
strength in researching as it showed me how long I should spend on making/ editing the short film and how I should have gone about creating my short film, and how they made lighting
look like it does. Strengths and weaknesses There are a range of different strengths in the research and also weaknesses throughout this document, this is based upon my final project
and what I personally found most effective in my research to my final short film and other parts of the production. I felt that the similar existing products were a strength because it
helped provide me with a template and structure to follow as well as show me what should be included in a horror and how it should all look and come together, another strength was
looking at the how each product uses connotations and denotations as this showed me how I can use these aspects in my own work. Another strength of the research was the interviews
because I feel that they gave me the opportunity to ask my audience what they thought and get an in-depth answer back telling me what I should include but more importantly what to
aim for. A weakness of the research, in my opinion, is the survey, the questions that I ask in this can be bland and I can only get bland answers and when I try and get a full answer by
asking my audience to write out an answer I get responses that are silly and unnecessary. Another strength was the bibliography because this meant that I was able to refer back to
previous existing products and YouTube videos that can help me with my filming and projects.
• How it helped my product
• The researched contributed a great deal to my final project, it helped me use different colour schemes and imagery to help me use this in my final product poster, the research was also
influencing my final product because it showed me what I need to include in order to appeal to this audience, the same is applicable to the short film and the DVD cover aspects of my
work. The survey gave me information on what type of content should be in my short film, I made the short film at an audience of 17 to 19 years of age as that was the majority of my
audience as seen from the survey that I had conducted.
• What could I have improved?
• I feel that I could improve upon the interview questions if I had been more specific questions to ask and asked for a more in-depth answer to my question and asked more questions I
could have improved upon my work by aiming it at specifics to an audience. I could have improved on the similar existing products research by researching more existing products and
ones that are more relevant to the short film, posters and DVD Covers that I will be creating. I could also improve on the survey by adding more questions to the survey to get better
answers and from this, I could have added in different features more specific to my audience if I was able to get more information from them.
Planning
• Summary
• I did a range of different things with my work, the first part of my planning is that I needed to create mind maps on potential ideas that I could use in the final project these where ideas
that where related to the final production, the first mind map was a short film potential idea where I looked into ideas for my story and expanded on what I could make and I had ideas of
combining parts of the production that I could use to create my work these where poster, DVD Cover and short film which would be the main aspect of my Final major project. For the
story on this, I looked into the concept of horror/ thriller short film. In the second potential idea I looked into different plans and ideas for video games, in this potential idea I looked at
creating a video game that is built around a story and this would also have had the features of a poster and DVD Cover, the plan was good because it gave me room to expand upon ideas
around this concept and the different types of games I could make as well as how they could all work as a system and if they would have levels or a chronological story to follow, then the
poster and DVD Cover would be additions to bring aspects from different pieces of work into the video games end piece. The next mind map that I made was looking into the 3rd and final
potential idea, this was a print-based product I mapped out ideas as to what I could make around a magazine what my articles could be about and how I would go about creating the
magazine as well as what could go alongside my magazine creation and what I could make as addition features. Before I created the mind maps I gave my initial response to the task in
the final major project, in the initial reaction I refer back to things I have done in the previous unit and discuss my thoughts and feelings on how I can do well in my work based on what I
have previously done. After this I created a new mind map, this mind map is about my final choice of what I am going to make and I chose what I am interested in which is short film, I felt
that I should do something that I enjoy doing, the main part I enjoy is coming up with story concepts for films and how I can utilize that concept to create different concepts around it. I
created a mood board with a range of different images that were all related to content and color scheme to the project that I wanted to create. I created two more additional mood
boards after this and then I analyzed them by looking at the different features of the images and why I chose them. Then on the pre-production PowerPoint, I planned further ahead, to
start with I created style sheets so that I can plan out the fonts, color schemes that I'm going to use also seeing how other products have been created and how they have used fonts and
color schemes. I then discussed the mise en scene that I would follow when creating my short film. Strengths and weaknesses I think that on the initial plans side of the work that the
mind maps where a strength because it gave me room to expand and summarise ideas and concepts and map out what I could create and this showed me what would be an interesting
option to choose for this and then expand further on my final idea, this was a strength because it meant that I could get a clear idea of what I wanted to create and this would lead to me
proposing the idea later on. The initial reaction was a weakness because it took up the time to write and think about which could have been spent on more planning. The mood boards
was a strength for planning because I was able to look at pictures that could help influence my work. The style sheets were also a strength because it opened more doors for planning and
concepts for fonts and colors meaning I had a certain plan of what I wanted when going into the final production. The layouts were also a strength because they meant I could create a
template for my different productions. The storyboards were a strength if my planning as it meant that I could plan my production and the different scenes of the short film out.
• How it helped my product
• All of these parts of the work helped my product because it meant that I was able to plan ahead and expand on my different ideas for my work and this meant that I was able to make my
final production better and improved. The health and safety form helped with my work because it meant that I could be risked assessed and the contingency plans where helpful because
I knew what to do if something went wrong.
• What could I have improved?
• I feel that I could have improved upon my mind maps for the final project, if I had expanded further on different ideas I could have found a concept that was better suited for a short film
which would have been an easier concept to create and follow and also I could have come up with different ideas for the concept that I did choose, looking into different shots I could
have used and planning how I could use them.
Time Management
• For time management I feel that I managed my time well as a whole, for initial plans I got my work in on time and to the deadline which was two days after the work was set and weeks
later I completed the improvements of initial plans on time. The next part for the work was the proposal which had to be in on the same day that it was set as a task but my time
management was slow on this and I got the proposal in a day later than expected, but when I was given improvements for the work I completed them as soon as I got them. The next part
of the work was the research PowerPoint, I was able to complete this PowerPoint on time as I was given a week to complete this PowerPoint I was held back a little bit on the research of
products but I was able to push through it and meet the deadline while getting my work to a good standard, then when given feedback I was able to improve upon receiving the feedback
so that I could keep on track and on top of my work for when I needed to do some reshoots, or reshoot the entire short film in a different location with a different crew because I won't
be able to get the original crew to come in for these reshoots when I have so little time. I completed the production reflection on time and when it was in for and to a good standard and
then was able to go back and improve upon the work however I will be needing to add in the short film remake as well as the re-edit and new music, but I feel that the time that I had
spent o the reshoots will pay of to my final grade as well as the extra effort put in to make the remake. I had created a movie poster within this time frame and explained my processes on
this poster in the production reflection. I was able to complete the production reflection and I was able to get them in on time and to a good standard or so I felt it was. If I had more time
on these products I feel that it would be mass improved from the initial plans and planning stages of the work to the production and reflection, with more time I could have completed
the work to a much better standard and parts that I wasn’t too strong on such as my filming I could have improved a great deal with more practice. Overall I would say that overall the
parts of the work were all in on time and the improvements were completed on time and gave me time for more improvement. If I had more time on my work I would have spent more
time developing my camera skills in setting up the iso and aperture and how to utilize these into creating a much stronger production in the footage. I would have also spent more time
studying editing skills, I am strong on editing but I lack in areas and I would spend the time expanding my knowledge on techniques in these areas and how I can use them to improve my
final product. With more time I would have spent lots of time filming much more time then I spent I had 5 hours which seems like a lot of time but it isn’t In terms of what I wanted to
create and this on top of the work that I had to produce to get a certain grade and the ideas I had with my reliance on people turning up when they don’t, I would have loved more time
to film and sort out my work. I would also improve on the mind maps for the initial plans and in the research, I would expand more upon the similar existing products and look more into
the short film shots and camera techniques. I would spend more time improving my production experiments by making them look more professional and giving me more of a structure to
follow. I would have also given myself addition planning time for the shot list and call sheets to make sure that all my work and shots were structured.
Technical Qualities
• A difference is how they set out the background, in my work I
created mu background going piece by piece, I used a small layer
of ripped paper and duplicated the layer moving it and filling up
the entire page the main idea behind this is that it adds depth to
the work and in order to create this I used the pencil tool, the
duplicate layer tool and the control T tool that is accompanied by
the rotate and select tool. The mirrors poster on the other hand
used a paint bucket tool, this was simply used by turning the
colour of the paint bucket tool into plain black and then colouring
in the entire page and then adding in the other features of the
poster on top of that, the similarity is that they both are used as a
background image.
• The main feature of the poster which is always placed in the
centre of the page. The difference is how they are made and what
they are, my poster is an at style created by different layers of
design to make a door frame and hands that are under the door
are added separately and then a pencil tool is used to colour
under the door I used a paint brush tool to cover up the door and
I feel that this was a good feature to use. The mirrors image is a
photographic image, in this image they captured an extreme close
up so that they could capture all of the facial features and
expressions in an image so that they could demonstrate what fear
looks like on a face, this is a technique and is commonly used in
horror film posters or old west posters to show the eyes of the
cowboys.
• A difference is that I used two different types of background in my
short film poster, I used a black and old wall paper style, the other
poster, I did this by first creating a old wall paper background as
listed previous and then for the second I used the shape tool to
create a straight line to grid out where I wanted the other
background to start and stop and then I paint bucket tooled the
background which is similar to what the mirrors poster did.
• Font for the production company's, in this I used a font
that was dark and creepy but matched to the top half of
the poster sticking with a certain style of poster, the
mirrors poster does the same, a similarity is how the fonts
will have been found, both my poster and the mirrors
poster found these font names by using trial and error
trying out different fonts and designs to determine which
one fit the company best and then we both used trials and
error for the colour scheme. Both my poster and the
mirrors poster tried a range of colours to find out which
one fit the style and stood out more, the mirrors poster
did the same and we both used a similar colour scheme as
that was the best that looked creepy and stood out.
Both my work and this mirrors poster include a release date
and this release date on my work is done in a production
company font however I made the colour scheme a lighter
grey after trail and error I did this letter by letter using the
paint bucket tool for each colour that I tried and eventually
found one that kept the style of the work while tweaking it
and changing it to be more befitting of the of the poster,
the mirrors coming soon used the same colour scheme
where it goes for a lighter grey which is the same colour
that I used for my work mainly because it contrasts with the
production colour and the background giving it the main
stand out piece so the audience is drawn to the release
date. Mirrors used the same font style as pre-set and
changed the colour on text.
A difference in production of both of these products is that my
poster was made in under a day by myself where as the
mirrors poster had a team of designers working on different
aspects of it and then it was finished by a print designer and
most importantly the mirrors poster was made by much better
designers then me and have much more experience as clearly
visible in the quality between how they are designed.
Another similarity between the posters is how they utilize the
horror theme and present a horror image as the main focus of
the poster but they use different themes to do so.
Aesthetic Qualities
My final piece Existing product
The first similarity here is the production
company listing, it is a similarity between
both products have this and the Patten of
film posters seem to be that this aspect of
the poster is always included and this is
because of how it advertises the
company's. I did debate whether or not I
should add this into my poster but after
research I decided that it was a good
choice to add it in because it created a
similarity.
This is a difference, in my poster I
included the platforms that the movie
could be watched for. For instance my
poster includes a DVD Logo and a Blu-ray
logo to show that these will be platforms
that this movie could be watched from, on
the other side there is another platform
which is the 4k viewing and these can not
be seen on the existing product and this
distinctly points out a difference between
them. I debated adding these in but it
covered more space making my poster
more claustrophobic this connotates my
short film.
The movie title is another similarity but it has
differences, to start with the similarities both
posters have a movie title and a design to the
movie title that is a stand out feature and I
think that the stand out feature is in my
poster is the art style and how it represents
the movie, the difference is how the title is
presented, on my work the title is shown in a
box with a western theme and the second
poster is called mirrors and so they use the
technique of a mirror is they set the r in a
reflective state, this shows where the
connotation are in this image and what it is
reflecting upon. The title is also placed in a
different spot which is the placement of the
title on the Poster and on my image is in a
different spot the mirror poster places the
title at the bottom of the page and above the
company production where as I place mine at
the top. Another difference is the colour
schemes that where used on the title as they
went for a red and black on the mirrors
poster and for my poster I chose black red
and brown so although we used 2 of the
same colours the background is different and
this makes a different setting.
A difference is the casting list and top bill, on my
work I have included the main cast of my short film
mainly as there is only two people in it, this can be
seen at the top of y poster, it is styled in a western
font which I feel worked best with the look and
style of the poster. The mirrors poster does not
have a casting list on there's, I placed mine above
the title because from the template that is where
it belongs, although normally this is used on a
poster when you have a renowned actor playing
the role in my short film there is no renowned
actor but I like the premise of adding in this
feature so I included it in my work. I will add that
the mirrors poster does have a top bill cast
member but the difference is they added one
which is the man that plays the main character and
the poster does not include the name of any
supporting roles, where as my poster has the main
character and then the support.
Another similarity between the products is a
‘slogan’ in my poster I did not add a clever and
witty slogan that could help connotate the short
film from the poster, he reason is because I didn’t
have time to come up with one that worked and
due to time restraints in creating the poster the
thought of having a slogan included in my poster
slipped my mind. In the mirrors poster they also
do not have a witty slogan to help sell there film
so this is a similarity between both of the posters.
I did debate whether I should add a slogan but I
felt that it would be to cartoon like for the
poster.
Another difference in this production is the age
rating, in my poster I did not include an age
rating, the reason for this was because I did not
see the need as it wasn’t in any posters I was
basing my work off but it is in this mirrors poster.
Another difference is directors credit, in my
short film poster there is not ‘directed by the
creator of…’ mainly because I haven't made
anything else but I did debate whether or not
to include a made up one just top add
something more to the poster however I felt
it best to leave the poster standing. Mirrors
on the other hand have include directors
credit, they include the ‘from the director of
the hills have eyes.’ I personally haven't seen
the hills have eyes and but I have heard of it
and this shows the creator of a film that iv
heard of has made this so it might be good or
the premise of the name in general being if
has labelled his name on a poster he could be
professional, this affect can be used to grab
the viewers attention. Its also used to
manipulate the viewers into thinking that the
film is more popular than it is.
Another similarity is the release date both of
the posters have a release date and they are
both on a black background the difference is
the font style but the similarity is still an
essential part of the template.
Another similarity is that they both have a
main feature at the front, the difference is
what the feature is now in mirrors they have
a scared girl that is confused this connotates
how the audience will feel while watching
the film. My work has a door with hands
under this represents what's happening in
the film and the main scary aspect of it. The
similarity is how these present different
connotations in the movie or two the
audience as both features use the same ideas
to try and portray fear I would say that this is
an important feature.
Technical Qualities
• These two comparisons are between my films and the ‘2am smiling man short film’.
• To start with the production of my work was filmed all in one day which is the same as this short film about the smiling man, as that was also a production that was filmed in one day.
• Both of these productions had shot list created before they was filmed, the shot list will have listed the shot needed and duration of time it will be filmed for and it would be followed by
the reasoning for this and why it is important, it would also contain what the shot is off and what it will lead onto and this shot list would lead on to all of the other shots that would be
taken during filming and would be done from beginning to end.
• Both of the cameras changed aperture, shutter speed and iso throughout the footage making the lighting , brightness and contrast better for each scene so that each scene is easier to
see, these will have to have been adjusted for each scene of the smiling man as the character moved so that the shot looked close to the same, since my short film and the smiling man
short film where both filmed in the dark and at night it means that the aperture and iso will have been turned up so that what was happening in the scenes was visible and the viewer can
see what is happening in the short film. Both y short film and this smiling man short film use the same settings on the camera so that we can make the same environment visible on the
camera this is a similarity in process and technical aspects to filming;
• Another similarity in this is that both my project and this short film have two characters cast in it the protagonist and the antagonist these characters are easy to follow on both movies
and it is easy to understand what's happening to both sides of the characters perspectives.
• A difference in production is film locations, my location is a house that I needed permission to film in where as on this smiling man short film is filmed on a public street where it is easy to
film.
• Another difference is the shots used in these films, my film uses a range of different shots this goes from over the shoulder shot to the dolly shot and the smiling man short film moves
between close up, extreme close up and tracking shot.
• Another similarity is the title transition and then the production company logo as both was made by fonts on photoshop.
• When editing this together a similarity between my short film and the smiling man short film is that we both created bins to store parts of footage in to organised it and cut scenes down
and added them to the timeline so that they played chronologically and we both exposed of scenes that we didn’t want to use and added music and sound affects separately to make the
short film fluent and suspensful.

Aesthetic Qualities
• My film opens up with low lightning and a shadowy atmosphere I did this my changing the aperture and ISO this was so that the lighting would appear flickers and would connotate how the film can go
dark at any minute. The opening uses different shots to give a outside perspective of the character and what he is doing as well as giving a perspective for what he is doing and also a POV camera shot
to show his perspective of what he is seeing, also an establishing shot to show the main character in his area. It was important that I didn’t do an establishing shot of each room because I wanted it to
be so that you follow the rooms with the character as he gets to them so the suspense builds, its one of the reasons as to why the shots in the short film always stick to and track the character so he is
the main focus and then its harder to follow. The main focus of the lighting on the aperture and ISO are between 0 seconds to 13 seconds where it establishes what the main character is doing and the
main characters features. From 13 to 16 seconds in it follows the main character and passes a figure at the door, this figure is the antagonist of the short film and is in the house as the main character is
going to bed. In this scene as the main character is walking down the corridor and the figure appears in the background the music rises and creates suspense in this situation. From 16 seconds to 28
seconds it shows the main character getting into bed and music rises as he picks up his phone this is to draw attention to the phone and show how it is a main part of the movie, in this scene I use the
over the shoulder shot, tracking shot and a medium shot and a tracking shot, these clip together to tell the story of how he is picking up his phone to set the alarm for 7 in the morning. The next scenes
show the main character in bed and setting his phone alarm then throwing it to the end of the bed and turning the lights off, this ends the opening to the movie and sets up the movie story from this
point after the intro is over. This is followed by the first alarm going off and this alarm is named ‘down’ this is visibly shown by an extreme close up of the word and then as the protagonist picks up the
phone, then for audio story the main character looks at the phone and reads it out, the main character acts confused but passes it off as a mistake. The next part of the short film is two o’clock on this
part the alarm is titled beneath, this was difficult to see as the phone I was using will put the letters close together so on the phone I used an extreme close up then switched to an over the shoulder
and the a POV view the character reads out it says beneath and now he is more confused so the protagonist gets up and looks around the place, looking through doors in his perspective and following
his foot movement. There is a scene where there is a dark figure which is yet again the antagonist in the corner of the room the music rises and this increases the suspense. The main character then
moves back to bed and turns of the light ending the scene. The next scene is opened up to by the phone alarm going off once more but this time it is titled the, as the main character wakes up I built
up suspense by raising the sound, the main character wakes up and reads the phone alarm name out as ‘the’ I raise the sound so that I can pull attention towards the scene and the reason for this
because at 2 minutes 16 of the short film the protagonist moves in the background. The scene opens up to the alarm going off at 4 in the morning, the alarm is title bed and this spells out for all of the
alarms ‘down beneath the bed’ and as the main character reads out and puts the pieces together the music rises in as the camera pans under the bed showing a figure hiding beneath and establishing
what is about to happen to the audience, then I use a tracking shot as the protagonist puts his hand beneath the bed a hand grabs it, the music stops and it jumps the intruder walking out from under
the door. It then transitions to the movie title that I had created in photoshop so looks spooky and smart as my past work was to cartoon like. I used the ISO and the aperture to get the tone and
lighting right for all of the scenes and I created bins to add the footage into.
Audience Appeal
I feel that I have defiantly appealed to my audience as I have delivered a horror film with a story and concept that they can follow. There are parts of my project that I could have done differently
that would have appealed to a different audience, if I had aimed my audience at a equal mix between male and female by making one of my two characters female and the other male I could
have had a short film that appealed to a wider range because of relatability, my survey showed that there was a mix between male and female but the majority was male and I have appealed to
this audience but I do feel like I could have opened up my range more on this. The main age that I was aiming at was aiming at because the min audience from the survey I was able to see the
majority of my audience was 17 and I have appealed to this audience because my main character was 17 years old and this would make them relatable to this age of audience. The next question
that I asked was how long they expected a short film to be between 4 and 5 minutes long, my short film was in fact between 3 and four minutes long and although I did not reach my audience
with this part of the work I do feel that the 3 to 4 minutes appeals to an audience as a large portion of my audience did think it should be round to the area of time they expected . The next part
of the survey that was asked was if they expected characters to be relatable and I have made the main character of the short film relatable and so I feel that I have appealed to this audience.in
that regard. Another question I asked is how they feel about complicated plotlines and from the responses it was clear that a wide range of people liked there to be a mix of simplicities and
complexness in the work and I know that my short film delivers that and so I have appealed to this audience. My audience liked a mix of both light and dark tone as seen from the survey and in
my short film it starts of light and makes its way down to dark tone as dark things start happening and so it has a mix of both light and dark tone, the main character is a light character that talks
to himself which contributes to the light tone which appeals to my audience. Another question that I asked in the survey was what my audiences favourite horror movies where and this was so
that I could get an idea of what I should include in my work I terms of how its styled and how the music affects the atmosphere of the movie and so as most of the audiences favourite movies was
insidious or the conjuring I took it upon myself to try and make my audio similar to this and build up suspense in the same way that they do. The majority of my audience from the survey did not
want my work to be in found footage and so I did not film my work this way and went for more insidious style movie rather then paranormal activity. The final question I asked in the survey was
about the music in short films and how loud it should be at different parts in the film, this was so that I could find out how my audience reacts to loud bangs and really loud suspense rises. I was
able to see that audiences preferred a lighter toned short film in music than really dramatic and I tried to keep it light up until something suspenseful happens then the music rises. In my
interviews I asked the same questions as on the surveys I just got more in depth responses but they told me the same end result and so I have appealed to my audience through surveys and
interviews and included different aspects in my short film that appeals to them.

feedback?
– I agree that my audio worked I feel that I was able to build up suspense with it and I am confident that I had done a good job in creating the
suspense for the film that I feel works with the importance of the music in horror films to help build up the tension. I do think that the music
and audio could be better though. I agree that the audio can be improved in sound affects I think the voices could match up a little better so I
agree with that and I also agree that the footstep sound affect could be improved and made better. I agree that the acting could be better
but this was the best person that I could find at the time and I feel that I have done a good job in directing the acting in this way so that they
convinced the audience that what was happening was real.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
• I disagree that the music was great, I think that I had done the best that I could do with it in the time that I had but I wouldn’t say that it was great,
the atmospheric sounds I agree could be improved I would maybe do this by getting more sounds in the background sounds that are more related to
the night time so that I can give out a night time vibe. I also agree the audio could be improved, I think that the sound affects of running and shutting
doors and also light switches could be massively improved.
Peer Feedback Summary
I would make big changes to my product, to start with the footage, I would have filmed the short filmi n better aperture so that the night time affect
looked more natural and worked more as a night look and I feel that this would be a great improvement, I would also capture much more footage of
the same thing happening but from different angles so that when editing I would have more room to switch between shots and angles and this could
add more for the audience to follow and would keep things interesting. The audio is something that I feel could Definitely be improved upon, I would
do this by getting more recordings of what's happening in different parts of the short film I would do this and add in more sound affects to the short
film so that I could create more realism in the short film. I would also improve upon the music and I would do this by changing the volume at certain
parts to increase when I want suspense to happen as it does in the short film except this time I would do it so it is louder and has more attention drawn
to it. I would also improve the acting by finding someone who can portray the role well and put more emotion behind different scenes. I would improve
the footage by focusing more on the cinematography side of footage as well as visual story telling. I would also improve by adding more scenes and
more of an ending to short film one that has a clear ending that is easy to follow.

7. evaluation

  • 3. Research • Summary • In the research I had various different tasks and parts to research, the idea behind research is that I would look into similar existing products, this would be a similar existing product each of the different types of product that I would be creating, so to start with I would be creating different company logos and so in this research I looked into different company logos in the media industry and how they are added into different aspects of the work like DVD cover, Poster and short film, this helped me a great deal in seeing how they are presented and I would defiantly cunt this part of the research as a strength. The next similar existing product was a DVD Cover from a well known horror movie this was to show me how the expensive movies gave there DVD cover a professional look and I could then look into the aspects of the DVD cover and see what I could include in my own work,, the important part of this is looking at the different areas of what they have done in the DVD Cover the template and style is important but so is the colour scheme and how it is presented as well as the different connotations that the DVD cover would have relating to the film and after looking at these aspects it helps show me what I should aim for in my own DVD Cover, I count these aspects of the work as a strength and found them very helpful on my own work when I was creating it. Other aspects of the DVD Cover was looking at the mise en scene here I research how long they spent designing the DVD Cover and from this information I could see how long a professional company spent designing the poster with multiple people and this would help me decide how long I should spend on my DVD cover and from this I can work out the time that I should spend on my own DVD cover and I can build a schedule around this. This is a strength because it gives me a plan of what to do and what the structure to follow which is. The next part of work that I looked into was the poster for this I looked into a conjuring 2 poster when researching this I saw how they used colour schemes and imagery to connotate the film, this can be seen by the light and darkness aspects of the poster, this is definitely a strength because it shows me as a creator how a professional company produce a poster for there films and it also gives me a template to follow for the poster which is a strength because it shows me what I need to include. I then researched a movie that was within the same genre as m short film and this meant that I was able to see how they opened up with there company logos what animations they used and how the colour scheme and lighting looked on this movie which showed me how I could create a similar style and look to the work, the mise en scene of the movie was a strength in researching as it showed me how long I should spend on making/ editing the short film and how I should have gone about creating my short film, and how they made lighting look like it does. Strengths and weaknesses There are a range of different strengths in the research and also weaknesses throughout this document, this is based upon my final project and what I personally found most effective in my research to my final short film and other parts of the production. I felt that the similar existing products were a strength because it helped provide me with a template and structure to follow as well as show me what should be included in a horror and how it should all look and come together, another strength was looking at the how each product uses connotations and denotations as this showed me how I can use these aspects in my own work. Another strength of the research was the interviews because I feel that they gave me the opportunity to ask my audience what they thought and get an in-depth answer back telling me what I should include but more importantly what to aim for. A weakness of the research, in my opinion, is the survey, the questions that I ask in this can be bland and I can only get bland answers and when I try and get a full answer by asking my audience to write out an answer I get responses that are silly and unnecessary. Another strength was the bibliography because this meant that I was able to refer back to previous existing products and YouTube videos that can help me with my filming and projects. • How it helped my product • The researched contributed a great deal to my final project, it helped me use different colour schemes and imagery to help me use this in my final product poster, the research was also influencing my final product because it showed me what I need to include in order to appeal to this audience, the same is applicable to the short film and the DVD cover aspects of my work. The survey gave me information on what type of content should be in my short film, I made the short film at an audience of 17 to 19 years of age as that was the majority of my audience as seen from the survey that I had conducted. • What could I have improved? • I feel that I could improve upon the interview questions if I had been more specific questions to ask and asked for a more in-depth answer to my question and asked more questions I could have improved upon my work by aiming it at specifics to an audience. I could have improved on the similar existing products research by researching more existing products and ones that are more relevant to the short film, posters and DVD Covers that I will be creating. I could also improve on the survey by adding more questions to the survey to get better answers and from this, I could have added in different features more specific to my audience if I was able to get more information from them.
  • 4. Planning • Summary • I did a range of different things with my work, the first part of my planning is that I needed to create mind maps on potential ideas that I could use in the final project these where ideas that where related to the final production, the first mind map was a short film potential idea where I looked into ideas for my story and expanded on what I could make and I had ideas of combining parts of the production that I could use to create my work these where poster, DVD Cover and short film which would be the main aspect of my Final major project. For the story on this, I looked into the concept of horror/ thriller short film. In the second potential idea I looked into different plans and ideas for video games, in this potential idea I looked at creating a video game that is built around a story and this would also have had the features of a poster and DVD Cover, the plan was good because it gave me room to expand upon ideas around this concept and the different types of games I could make as well as how they could all work as a system and if they would have levels or a chronological story to follow, then the poster and DVD Cover would be additions to bring aspects from different pieces of work into the video games end piece. The next mind map that I made was looking into the 3rd and final potential idea, this was a print-based product I mapped out ideas as to what I could make around a magazine what my articles could be about and how I would go about creating the magazine as well as what could go alongside my magazine creation and what I could make as addition features. Before I created the mind maps I gave my initial response to the task in the final major project, in the initial reaction I refer back to things I have done in the previous unit and discuss my thoughts and feelings on how I can do well in my work based on what I have previously done. After this I created a new mind map, this mind map is about my final choice of what I am going to make and I chose what I am interested in which is short film, I felt that I should do something that I enjoy doing, the main part I enjoy is coming up with story concepts for films and how I can utilize that concept to create different concepts around it. I created a mood board with a range of different images that were all related to content and color scheme to the project that I wanted to create. I created two more additional mood boards after this and then I analyzed them by looking at the different features of the images and why I chose them. Then on the pre-production PowerPoint, I planned further ahead, to start with I created style sheets so that I can plan out the fonts, color schemes that I'm going to use also seeing how other products have been created and how they have used fonts and color schemes. I then discussed the mise en scene that I would follow when creating my short film. Strengths and weaknesses I think that on the initial plans side of the work that the mind maps where a strength because it gave me room to expand and summarise ideas and concepts and map out what I could create and this showed me what would be an interesting option to choose for this and then expand further on my final idea, this was a strength because it meant that I could get a clear idea of what I wanted to create and this would lead to me proposing the idea later on. The initial reaction was a weakness because it took up the time to write and think about which could have been spent on more planning. The mood boards was a strength for planning because I was able to look at pictures that could help influence my work. The style sheets were also a strength because it opened more doors for planning and concepts for fonts and colors meaning I had a certain plan of what I wanted when going into the final production. The layouts were also a strength because they meant I could create a template for my different productions. The storyboards were a strength if my planning as it meant that I could plan my production and the different scenes of the short film out. • How it helped my product • All of these parts of the work helped my product because it meant that I was able to plan ahead and expand on my different ideas for my work and this meant that I was able to make my final production better and improved. The health and safety form helped with my work because it meant that I could be risked assessed and the contingency plans where helpful because I knew what to do if something went wrong. • What could I have improved? • I feel that I could have improved upon my mind maps for the final project, if I had expanded further on different ideas I could have found a concept that was better suited for a short film which would have been an easier concept to create and follow and also I could have come up with different ideas for the concept that I did choose, looking into different shots I could have used and planning how I could use them.
  • 5. Time Management • For time management I feel that I managed my time well as a whole, for initial plans I got my work in on time and to the deadline which was two days after the work was set and weeks later I completed the improvements of initial plans on time. The next part for the work was the proposal which had to be in on the same day that it was set as a task but my time management was slow on this and I got the proposal in a day later than expected, but when I was given improvements for the work I completed them as soon as I got them. The next part of the work was the research PowerPoint, I was able to complete this PowerPoint on time as I was given a week to complete this PowerPoint I was held back a little bit on the research of products but I was able to push through it and meet the deadline while getting my work to a good standard, then when given feedback I was able to improve upon receiving the feedback so that I could keep on track and on top of my work for when I needed to do some reshoots, or reshoot the entire short film in a different location with a different crew because I won't be able to get the original crew to come in for these reshoots when I have so little time. I completed the production reflection on time and when it was in for and to a good standard and then was able to go back and improve upon the work however I will be needing to add in the short film remake as well as the re-edit and new music, but I feel that the time that I had spent o the reshoots will pay of to my final grade as well as the extra effort put in to make the remake. I had created a movie poster within this time frame and explained my processes on this poster in the production reflection. I was able to complete the production reflection and I was able to get them in on time and to a good standard or so I felt it was. If I had more time on these products I feel that it would be mass improved from the initial plans and planning stages of the work to the production and reflection, with more time I could have completed the work to a much better standard and parts that I wasn’t too strong on such as my filming I could have improved a great deal with more practice. Overall I would say that overall the parts of the work were all in on time and the improvements were completed on time and gave me time for more improvement. If I had more time on my work I would have spent more time developing my camera skills in setting up the iso and aperture and how to utilize these into creating a much stronger production in the footage. I would have also spent more time studying editing skills, I am strong on editing but I lack in areas and I would spend the time expanding my knowledge on techniques in these areas and how I can use them to improve my final product. With more time I would have spent lots of time filming much more time then I spent I had 5 hours which seems like a lot of time but it isn’t In terms of what I wanted to create and this on top of the work that I had to produce to get a certain grade and the ideas I had with my reliance on people turning up when they don’t, I would have loved more time to film and sort out my work. I would also improve on the mind maps for the initial plans and in the research, I would expand more upon the similar existing products and look more into the short film shots and camera techniques. I would spend more time improving my production experiments by making them look more professional and giving me more of a structure to follow. I would have also given myself addition planning time for the shot list and call sheets to make sure that all my work and shots were structured.
  • 6. Technical Qualities • A difference is how they set out the background, in my work I created mu background going piece by piece, I used a small layer of ripped paper and duplicated the layer moving it and filling up the entire page the main idea behind this is that it adds depth to the work and in order to create this I used the pencil tool, the duplicate layer tool and the control T tool that is accompanied by the rotate and select tool. The mirrors poster on the other hand used a paint bucket tool, this was simply used by turning the colour of the paint bucket tool into plain black and then colouring in the entire page and then adding in the other features of the poster on top of that, the similarity is that they both are used as a background image. • The main feature of the poster which is always placed in the centre of the page. The difference is how they are made and what they are, my poster is an at style created by different layers of design to make a door frame and hands that are under the door are added separately and then a pencil tool is used to colour under the door I used a paint brush tool to cover up the door and I feel that this was a good feature to use. The mirrors image is a photographic image, in this image they captured an extreme close up so that they could capture all of the facial features and expressions in an image so that they could demonstrate what fear looks like on a face, this is a technique and is commonly used in horror film posters or old west posters to show the eyes of the cowboys. • A difference is that I used two different types of background in my short film poster, I used a black and old wall paper style, the other poster, I did this by first creating a old wall paper background as listed previous and then for the second I used the shape tool to create a straight line to grid out where I wanted the other background to start and stop and then I paint bucket tooled the background which is similar to what the mirrors poster did. • Font for the production company's, in this I used a font that was dark and creepy but matched to the top half of the poster sticking with a certain style of poster, the mirrors poster does the same, a similarity is how the fonts will have been found, both my poster and the mirrors poster found these font names by using trial and error trying out different fonts and designs to determine which one fit the company best and then we both used trials and error for the colour scheme. Both my poster and the mirrors poster tried a range of colours to find out which one fit the style and stood out more, the mirrors poster did the same and we both used a similar colour scheme as that was the best that looked creepy and stood out. Both my work and this mirrors poster include a release date and this release date on my work is done in a production company font however I made the colour scheme a lighter grey after trail and error I did this letter by letter using the paint bucket tool for each colour that I tried and eventually found one that kept the style of the work while tweaking it and changing it to be more befitting of the of the poster, the mirrors coming soon used the same colour scheme where it goes for a lighter grey which is the same colour that I used for my work mainly because it contrasts with the production colour and the background giving it the main stand out piece so the audience is drawn to the release date. Mirrors used the same font style as pre-set and changed the colour on text. A difference in production of both of these products is that my poster was made in under a day by myself where as the mirrors poster had a team of designers working on different aspects of it and then it was finished by a print designer and most importantly the mirrors poster was made by much better designers then me and have much more experience as clearly visible in the quality between how they are designed. Another similarity between the posters is how they utilize the horror theme and present a horror image as the main focus of the poster but they use different themes to do so.
  • 7. Aesthetic Qualities My final piece Existing product The first similarity here is the production company listing, it is a similarity between both products have this and the Patten of film posters seem to be that this aspect of the poster is always included and this is because of how it advertises the company's. I did debate whether or not I should add this into my poster but after research I decided that it was a good choice to add it in because it created a similarity. This is a difference, in my poster I included the platforms that the movie could be watched for. For instance my poster includes a DVD Logo and a Blu-ray logo to show that these will be platforms that this movie could be watched from, on the other side there is another platform which is the 4k viewing and these can not be seen on the existing product and this distinctly points out a difference between them. I debated adding these in but it covered more space making my poster more claustrophobic this connotates my short film. The movie title is another similarity but it has differences, to start with the similarities both posters have a movie title and a design to the movie title that is a stand out feature and I think that the stand out feature is in my poster is the art style and how it represents the movie, the difference is how the title is presented, on my work the title is shown in a box with a western theme and the second poster is called mirrors and so they use the technique of a mirror is they set the r in a reflective state, this shows where the connotation are in this image and what it is reflecting upon. The title is also placed in a different spot which is the placement of the title on the Poster and on my image is in a different spot the mirror poster places the title at the bottom of the page and above the company production where as I place mine at the top. Another difference is the colour schemes that where used on the title as they went for a red and black on the mirrors poster and for my poster I chose black red and brown so although we used 2 of the same colours the background is different and this makes a different setting. A difference is the casting list and top bill, on my work I have included the main cast of my short film mainly as there is only two people in it, this can be seen at the top of y poster, it is styled in a western font which I feel worked best with the look and style of the poster. The mirrors poster does not have a casting list on there's, I placed mine above the title because from the template that is where it belongs, although normally this is used on a poster when you have a renowned actor playing the role in my short film there is no renowned actor but I like the premise of adding in this feature so I included it in my work. I will add that the mirrors poster does have a top bill cast member but the difference is they added one which is the man that plays the main character and the poster does not include the name of any supporting roles, where as my poster has the main character and then the support. Another similarity between the products is a ‘slogan’ in my poster I did not add a clever and witty slogan that could help connotate the short film from the poster, he reason is because I didn’t have time to come up with one that worked and due to time restraints in creating the poster the thought of having a slogan included in my poster slipped my mind. In the mirrors poster they also do not have a witty slogan to help sell there film so this is a similarity between both of the posters. I did debate whether I should add a slogan but I felt that it would be to cartoon like for the poster. Another difference in this production is the age rating, in my poster I did not include an age rating, the reason for this was because I did not see the need as it wasn’t in any posters I was basing my work off but it is in this mirrors poster. Another difference is directors credit, in my short film poster there is not ‘directed by the creator of…’ mainly because I haven't made anything else but I did debate whether or not to include a made up one just top add something more to the poster however I felt it best to leave the poster standing. Mirrors on the other hand have include directors credit, they include the ‘from the director of the hills have eyes.’ I personally haven't seen the hills have eyes and but I have heard of it and this shows the creator of a film that iv heard of has made this so it might be good or the premise of the name in general being if has labelled his name on a poster he could be professional, this affect can be used to grab the viewers attention. Its also used to manipulate the viewers into thinking that the film is more popular than it is. Another similarity is the release date both of the posters have a release date and they are both on a black background the difference is the font style but the similarity is still an essential part of the template. Another similarity is that they both have a main feature at the front, the difference is what the feature is now in mirrors they have a scared girl that is confused this connotates how the audience will feel while watching the film. My work has a door with hands under this represents what's happening in the film and the main scary aspect of it. The similarity is how these present different connotations in the movie or two the audience as both features use the same ideas to try and portray fear I would say that this is an important feature.
  • 8. Technical Qualities • These two comparisons are between my films and the ‘2am smiling man short film’. • To start with the production of my work was filmed all in one day which is the same as this short film about the smiling man, as that was also a production that was filmed in one day. • Both of these productions had shot list created before they was filmed, the shot list will have listed the shot needed and duration of time it will be filmed for and it would be followed by the reasoning for this and why it is important, it would also contain what the shot is off and what it will lead onto and this shot list would lead on to all of the other shots that would be taken during filming and would be done from beginning to end. • Both of the cameras changed aperture, shutter speed and iso throughout the footage making the lighting , brightness and contrast better for each scene so that each scene is easier to see, these will have to have been adjusted for each scene of the smiling man as the character moved so that the shot looked close to the same, since my short film and the smiling man short film where both filmed in the dark and at night it means that the aperture and iso will have been turned up so that what was happening in the scenes was visible and the viewer can see what is happening in the short film. Both y short film and this smiling man short film use the same settings on the camera so that we can make the same environment visible on the camera this is a similarity in process and technical aspects to filming; • Another similarity in this is that both my project and this short film have two characters cast in it the protagonist and the antagonist these characters are easy to follow on both movies and it is easy to understand what's happening to both sides of the characters perspectives. • A difference in production is film locations, my location is a house that I needed permission to film in where as on this smiling man short film is filmed on a public street where it is easy to film. • Another difference is the shots used in these films, my film uses a range of different shots this goes from over the shoulder shot to the dolly shot and the smiling man short film moves between close up, extreme close up and tracking shot. • Another similarity is the title transition and then the production company logo as both was made by fonts on photoshop. • When editing this together a similarity between my short film and the smiling man short film is that we both created bins to store parts of footage in to organised it and cut scenes down and added them to the timeline so that they played chronologically and we both exposed of scenes that we didn’t want to use and added music and sound affects separately to make the short film fluent and suspensful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u6 Tt3PqIfQ
  • 9. Aesthetic Qualities • My film opens up with low lightning and a shadowy atmosphere I did this my changing the aperture and ISO this was so that the lighting would appear flickers and would connotate how the film can go dark at any minute. The opening uses different shots to give a outside perspective of the character and what he is doing as well as giving a perspective for what he is doing and also a POV camera shot to show his perspective of what he is seeing, also an establishing shot to show the main character in his area. It was important that I didn’t do an establishing shot of each room because I wanted it to be so that you follow the rooms with the character as he gets to them so the suspense builds, its one of the reasons as to why the shots in the short film always stick to and track the character so he is the main focus and then its harder to follow. The main focus of the lighting on the aperture and ISO are between 0 seconds to 13 seconds where it establishes what the main character is doing and the main characters features. From 13 to 16 seconds in it follows the main character and passes a figure at the door, this figure is the antagonist of the short film and is in the house as the main character is going to bed. In this scene as the main character is walking down the corridor and the figure appears in the background the music rises and creates suspense in this situation. From 16 seconds to 28 seconds it shows the main character getting into bed and music rises as he picks up his phone this is to draw attention to the phone and show how it is a main part of the movie, in this scene I use the over the shoulder shot, tracking shot and a medium shot and a tracking shot, these clip together to tell the story of how he is picking up his phone to set the alarm for 7 in the morning. The next scenes show the main character in bed and setting his phone alarm then throwing it to the end of the bed and turning the lights off, this ends the opening to the movie and sets up the movie story from this point after the intro is over. This is followed by the first alarm going off and this alarm is named ‘down’ this is visibly shown by an extreme close up of the word and then as the protagonist picks up the phone, then for audio story the main character looks at the phone and reads it out, the main character acts confused but passes it off as a mistake. The next part of the short film is two o’clock on this part the alarm is titled beneath, this was difficult to see as the phone I was using will put the letters close together so on the phone I used an extreme close up then switched to an over the shoulder and the a POV view the character reads out it says beneath and now he is more confused so the protagonist gets up and looks around the place, looking through doors in his perspective and following his foot movement. There is a scene where there is a dark figure which is yet again the antagonist in the corner of the room the music rises and this increases the suspense. The main character then moves back to bed and turns of the light ending the scene. The next scene is opened up to by the phone alarm going off once more but this time it is titled the, as the main character wakes up I built up suspense by raising the sound, the main character wakes up and reads the phone alarm name out as ‘the’ I raise the sound so that I can pull attention towards the scene and the reason for this because at 2 minutes 16 of the short film the protagonist moves in the background. The scene opens up to the alarm going off at 4 in the morning, the alarm is title bed and this spells out for all of the alarms ‘down beneath the bed’ and as the main character reads out and puts the pieces together the music rises in as the camera pans under the bed showing a figure hiding beneath and establishing what is about to happen to the audience, then I use a tracking shot as the protagonist puts his hand beneath the bed a hand grabs it, the music stops and it jumps the intruder walking out from under the door. It then transitions to the movie title that I had created in photoshop so looks spooky and smart as my past work was to cartoon like. I used the ISO and the aperture to get the tone and lighting right for all of the scenes and I created bins to add the footage into.
  • 10. Audience Appeal I feel that I have defiantly appealed to my audience as I have delivered a horror film with a story and concept that they can follow. There are parts of my project that I could have done differently that would have appealed to a different audience, if I had aimed my audience at a equal mix between male and female by making one of my two characters female and the other male I could have had a short film that appealed to a wider range because of relatability, my survey showed that there was a mix between male and female but the majority was male and I have appealed to this audience but I do feel like I could have opened up my range more on this. The main age that I was aiming at was aiming at because the min audience from the survey I was able to see the majority of my audience was 17 and I have appealed to this audience because my main character was 17 years old and this would make them relatable to this age of audience. The next question that I asked was how long they expected a short film to be between 4 and 5 minutes long, my short film was in fact between 3 and four minutes long and although I did not reach my audience with this part of the work I do feel that the 3 to 4 minutes appeals to an audience as a large portion of my audience did think it should be round to the area of time they expected . The next part of the survey that was asked was if they expected characters to be relatable and I have made the main character of the short film relatable and so I feel that I have appealed to this audience.in that regard. Another question I asked is how they feel about complicated plotlines and from the responses it was clear that a wide range of people liked there to be a mix of simplicities and complexness in the work and I know that my short film delivers that and so I have appealed to this audience. My audience liked a mix of both light and dark tone as seen from the survey and in my short film it starts of light and makes its way down to dark tone as dark things start happening and so it has a mix of both light and dark tone, the main character is a light character that talks to himself which contributes to the light tone which appeals to my audience. Another question that I asked in the survey was what my audiences favourite horror movies where and this was so that I could get an idea of what I should include in my work I terms of how its styled and how the music affects the atmosphere of the movie and so as most of the audiences favourite movies was insidious or the conjuring I took it upon myself to try and make my audio similar to this and build up suspense in the same way that they do. The majority of my audience from the survey did not want my work to be in found footage and so I did not film my work this way and went for more insidious style movie rather then paranormal activity. The final question I asked in the survey was about the music in short films and how loud it should be at different parts in the film, this was so that I could find out how my audience reacts to loud bangs and really loud suspense rises. I was able to see that audiences preferred a lighter toned short film in music than really dramatic and I tried to keep it light up until something suspenseful happens then the music rises. In my interviews I asked the same questions as on the surveys I just got more in depth responses but they told me the same end result and so I have appealed to my audience through surveys and interviews and included different aspects in my short film that appeals to them.
  • 12. Feedback 1 • What did you like about the product? – “the poster looks good and has depth to it, the short film has a great story that I can follow and a good soundtrack that I can follow, I would be interested to see what happens next.” • What improvements could have been made to the product? • “the cameras visual noise could be removed in some scenes and the acting could have been better and more fluent in different scenes”
  • 13. Feedback 2 • What did you like about the product? – “I really enjoyed the music and audio in the short film and I could follow the story and found it really interesting to watch and to find out what was happening.” • What improvements could have been made to the product? • “ the acting could be improved and act more shocked when disturbing things are happening, the visuals could be more clear in scenes.”
  • 14. Feedback 3 • What did you like about the product? – “the acting was interesting to watch and the concept was great but could do with different things happening between the alarms going off maybe the main character getting up and looking around. The music and audio Is great and really adds to the affect of the horror theme.” • What improvements could have been made to the product? • “add more scenes in between the alarms so that it gets more camera shots in as well. Make the main character look more venerable and make the figure under the bed creepier.”
  • 15. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? – I agree that my audio worked I feel that I was able to build up suspense with it and I am confident that I had done a good job in creating the suspense for the film that I feel works with the importance of the music in horror films to help build up the tension. I do think that the music and audio could be better though. I agree that the audio can be improved in sound affects I think the voices could match up a little better so I agree with that and I also agree that the footstep sound affect could be improved and made better. I agree that the acting could be better but this was the best person that I could find at the time and I feel that I have done a good job in directing the acting in this way so that they convinced the audience that what was happening was real. • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? • I disagree that the music was great, I think that I had done the best that I could do with it in the time that I had but I wouldn’t say that it was great, the atmospheric sounds I agree could be improved I would maybe do this by getting more sounds in the background sounds that are more related to the night time so that I can give out a night time vibe. I also agree the audio could be improved, I think that the sound affects of running and shutting doors and also light switches could be massively improved.
  • 16. Peer Feedback Summary I would make big changes to my product, to start with the footage, I would have filmed the short filmi n better aperture so that the night time affect looked more natural and worked more as a night look and I feel that this would be a great improvement, I would also capture much more footage of the same thing happening but from different angles so that when editing I would have more room to switch between shots and angles and this could add more for the audience to follow and would keep things interesting. The audio is something that I feel could Definitely be improved upon, I would do this by getting more recordings of what's happening in different parts of the short film I would do this and add in more sound affects to the short film so that I could create more realism in the short film. I would also improve upon the music and I would do this by changing the volume at certain parts to increase when I want suspense to happen as it does in the short film except this time I would do it so it is louder and has more attention drawn to it. I would also improve the acting by finding someone who can portray the role well and put more emotion behind different scenes. I would improve the footage by focusing more on the cinematography side of footage as well as visual story telling. I would also improve by adding more scenes and more of an ending to short film one that has a clear ending that is easy to follow.
