Olivia created a cocktail magazine fanzine over 9 days, editing photos in Photoshop and designing layouts. She made fruit garnishes as main features, getting faster with practice. Olivia experimented with layouts, settling on a scrapbook style with polaroid templates. She found fonts to make titles stand out and tie the color scheme together cohesively. Overall, Olivia is pleased with how her fanzine turned out and thinks it will appeal to her target audience.
2. Day 1
This is the product I have made today, I followed a step by step video on
YouTube.
I made this as a main feature on the magazine as it uses a lot of
techniques and will make it look more impressive.
This is the hardest edit of a photo I have done but it got easier with the
more practice I had.
I will use this on the 3 cocktail pages and do different fruits with the main
ingredients to make it the main focus and grab attention with the bright
and effective colours.
I included a photo of the original photo so that you are able see how
much it has been edited.

3. Day 2
Today I made 2 more of the fruit which I did on the previous day, I got faster
at doing it as I was used to do it from the time before.
These fruits fit with my cocktails as they are the main fruits used in them
making them fit and create a theme.
I used the step by step YouTube video as guidance for these and I like how
they turned out.
These were all made on photoshop using different tools that I hadn’t used
before. It helped to have more practice on photoshop and learn new
techniques.
I included a photo of the original photo so that you can see how much it is
edited.

4. Day 3
This day was a day of trying to think of the layout
I wanted for my double page spread.
I decided to give it a more scrapbook look by
using a polaroid template. I just used the shape
tool on Photoshop to complete this. I used one of
my own photos for the photo in the polaroid, I
used the lasso and magic wand tool to cut out the
background so the background of the polaroid
was still white and looked effective.
I added the fruit that I edited in the previous days
as I think this gives the pages a bit of character
and adds a theme.

6. Day 4
• I have been playing around with different fonts and moving things around to see what would look best, I
chose the title for the pages which I got off Dafont, I had planned to use this font from the start so I think it
looks good, it helps to have the title stand out and be bold.
• I made the other 2 pages for the fanzine, sticking with the same theme of the cocktails by using the same
colour scheme as the cocktail and still carrying on using the fruit that I did in the previous days. I think the
overall colours fit nicely together and they all compliment each other well.
• Overall I think everything is looking good, I think it will definitely appeal to my target audience as it is eye
catching and appealing to look at.
7.
8. Day 5
• I finished the 3 double page spreads, I added all the text that is needed and made them look the way I
wanted them too.
• All day I was struggling to find a font that would look nice for the writing on the bottom of the polaroid and i
finally found one off Dafont, I think it looks realistic and looks good.
• There is a overall theme on the double pages which is seen straight away by the pastel colour scheme and
the different parts of detail I have added onto them.
• Overall I am really liking how it is looking all together and it going the way I was hoping it would.
9.
10. Day 6
• I made the front cover for my fanzine. I watched a YouTube video on how to edit it to make it look the way it
does. I thought it was going to be a lot harder then it was.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPpJgEgyFl8&t=3s
• I included the original photo of the cocktail in the glass and then the finishing product of the front cover.
• There is a screenshot of a experiment I did by making the lime at the front bigger to make it stand out,
however I didn’t like the look of it, so I changed it to the same size as the rest of them which I think looks
better.
• The only detail I added onto this was the title, I didn’t think anything else needed adding as it would look too
crowded and I wanted the drink to be the main focus of the front cover.
• I really like the finished look of this I think it looks very modern and is effective for a cocktail magazine.

13. Day 7
• I was going through all the pages I had made and I decided to change my double page spreads I have
included photos of the first copy I did of the double page spreads then included the changes I made, when I
looked at them again I didn’t really like the fonts I had used so I changed it, I think now they look a lot more
classier and look more modern to fit with the front cover.
• I also did another trial of the front cover as I had 2 photos in mind for them, I changed the fruit in the
background for this one as the main fruit was passion fruit, I added the title on this one too to see which one
I preferred as the front page however I preferred the lime one so I decided to use this one as the back page
of my fanzine, so I added a barcode onto the back of this, that was the only bit of detail I used as again I
didn’t want it too be too crowded and still look modern and effective.
• I used the same YouTube video to complete this one and included a photo of the original photo of the drink
to show the edit of what I did.

14.
15. Day 8
• This was a easy page to make as it was just adding all the photos I have onto one page, it looks colourful and
included loads of photos of cocktails sticking to the overall theme.
• This was a easy page to make and wasn’t time consuming which helped me stay on time with the project.
• All of the photos were either from myself or the mixologist I interviewed for this project.
• Overall I think this page is colourful and nice to look at so it is very eye-catching for the audience and
something everyone will enjoy to look at.
16.
17. Day 9
• Today I made the final page for my fanzine, this page took me the longest to do as I had to wait a while for
the responses from who I was interviewing. However I eventually got them all back it didn’t take long for me
to get this page done.
• I stuck with the theme by using pastel colours on the page and keeping a similar style font to the rest of
them.
• I’ve included screenshots of the answers to the questions and then the making of the page. I like how it
looks as it fits in all together and is pleasing on the eyes for the audience.
• I was happy with the response to my questions as he went detailed on the answers and makes it all sound
professional.
