2. Research
• A strength of research is that you are able to see different styles of
magazines and the different details they use. This helped to see what style
of magazine I wanted to do and how I could achieve it.
• It also helps with seeing the colour scheme and layout of certain
magazines, this helped with my product as I can see the overall theme of
the magazines and be able to create something similar but original.
• A weakness is that there is loads of magazines so you might not find the
one you wanted or were looking for, this had an effect on my magazine
because the research I did may not be what you wanted to do for your
final product.
• The thing I could’ve better is researched different lifestyle magazines as I
knew from the start that that was the type of magazine I was going to
make.
3. Planning
• I think making mind maps is a strength of planning because it helps to get
all my ideas into one place and be able to narrow it done to one idea to
plan. Making my final mind map helped my product as I can put all my
ideas together will detail.
• A weakness of planning is that I had more ideas which I didn’t include on
my mind map. I could’ve done this better as I should of thought of as
many idea so that my mind map was better and more detailed.
4. Time Management
• I managed my time well at the start until I started my project, I spent most
of my time doing the the production which got me behind on the work
after production. If I had additional time I would have been able to get the
work finished on time and handed all in. I think I could of improved my
project if I had extra time, I had originally planned to do a cover page but
with the time it took me to do the rest of my project I didn’t have time so
this is something I would of done if I had more time.
5. Technical Qualities
A similarity of my product with an existing product is that they are both cartoon, this is
an idea I used from this existing product as I think it fits the whole theme and makes
the magazine more effective and detailed.
A difference is that my magazine includes a barcode and the magazine issue on the
front of the cover.
Another similarity is the quotes on the top of the cover this is another idea I got from
these magazines and I think it is more relatable and grabs attention for my audience.
6. Technical Qualities
A similarity of my product and the existing product is that one half of the magazines is
a cartoon photo, I think it makes it look more effective and entertaining for my
audience.
A difference of the products is that my title and subtitle for my article is on the same
page whereas the existing product has it on the other page, I prefer the layout of mine
as I feel it makes it look more professional and realistic.
Another similarity is we both included pictures on the article, I think this makes the
magazine more colourful and helps it be more entertaining and relatable.
7. Technical Qualities
A similarity is they both include similar sections. I think it helps the audience to relate and
help them with things in life.
A difference is that I included pictures onto mine which I think will help with my younger
audience to look at the pictures to understand what they should do.
Another difference is that the existing product is more colourful then my product, this is
something I should’ve thought about as it makes it more interesting and eye catching.
8. Aesthetic Qualities
I like how my final project turned out. I took a lot of time on the production side of it to
make it look how I wanted it to. I think that my product is creative as a lot of things
needed to be done to make it to how it looks. The visuals I like about my product is that
kept to the same theme through out the whole thing. I also like the colour scheme that I
used through out as I think they all look good together and keep with the pastel and bright
colour theme. To improve I would not of made a self care wheel, but I would’ve made a
opening page with an introduction and photos to show the audience what the magazine is
about.
9. Audience Appeal
My target audience is teenagers, I think I stuck with my target audience throughout the
product. I have appealed to my target audience by creating an article that will attract them
and something they can relate to. I included pictures and colours which will appeal to them
as they are something that they can look at and enjoy. I think have the cartoon theme is
something my target audience will enjoy as it good to look at and eye catching.
