2. Evaluation Introduction
• Over the following 3 weeks, I will be evaluating the PowerPoints and production that I have completed in the
build up of my FMP project. It is important to consider both as I am able to talk about further improvements
and reference the slides throughout the PowerPoint. The different PowerPoints I will be featuring in my
evaluation is Contextual Research, Research, Production Experiments, Planning and my Final Products.
• The research used in this PowerPoint will be both online and offline. This has always been the case in
previous projects as I have worked between the two. Whilst evaluating the final products I will put together
all the screenshots from google images and websites that I have used as inspiration throughout the project.
This will show their importance throughout my final production and any improve I can make.
• The screenshots I plan on using are from websites I have previously talked about in my Theory tasks. This will
be York Art Gallery, Castle Fine Art and google images.
• After looking into the content I will be using in the production of my Evaluation. The main reason I believe
this will help me as it gives me the opportunity to consider positive and negative aspects that are seen in my
production. I will set this PowerPoint in work order, starting off with the work I completed first to my more
recent pieces of work. This will ensure that myself and whoever reviews my evaluation will have a clear
understanding of what is being referenced and shown throughout.
3. • The first tasks I will be talking about in this evaluation is both Proposals (Pre-Proposal and Proposal). I believe
this is very important as the questions that are seen in these are required questions that will help to provide
content for future work. An example of this in the Pre-Proposal “Why have you decided to make it?”, “what is
your FMP idea?” and “why have you decided to make your product in this style?” these questions are
important as it helps me to speak about my ides, from answering these questions I realized that my ideas
would work and I could complete my project.
• Both documents have a ‘word count’ this is helpful as it helps me to not speak about my project in too much
depth and keep it simple and too the point. Another reason this is helpful as the word counts are usually quite
short so it helps to not spend too much time on this section of pre production.
• A improve I would make for my Proposal is my schedule as I wasn’t 100 percent set on my final ideas, I didn’t
have it all prepared properly at that time therefore I found it hard to look back on and refer too as it wasn’t to
its best details. If completed with greater success, I would’ve thought in more detail about this section of my
proposal and made it easier to read to refer back to in the future.
• Overall I am happy with the evaluation of both my Proposal’s. As said previously having these questions
answered will massively help with the making of upcoming work. In both Proposal’s target audience, rationale
and concept as asked and spoken about, this will be useful as it will be brought up in upcoming work and can
use it to complete my project.
Pre-Proposal/Proposal Evaluation
4. Contextual Research Evaluation
• After completing my Pre-Proposal and Proposal in the first week of production, I then moved onto
completing my Contextual Research. This is important as it lets me research pre-existing Photographers,
Authors and Artists, I looked into Jeremy Blincoe (Fine Art Photographer), Oleg Dou (Fine Art Photographer),
Vee Speers (Fine Art Photographer and Author), Lucia Emanuela Curzi (Artist) and Silke Bachman (Artist).
After I had found the people I wanted to research I could look more into beliefs and work they have created.
Doing this research will help to move forward into the Research PowerPoint.
• In my Contextual Research I wanted to include images as I find this helps with when revisiting my
PowerPoint as I can include pieces of their work that I found and want to use as inspiration and use these
throughout the PowerPoint as I think it is more effective for me to look back on photos to understand what I
need to do then looking through a big chunk of text.
• One thing I would change about my Contextual Research would be to research more books that fit my
products more as I looked into photography magazines but not into Art or Fine Art, I feel this would’ve given
me a better understanding of my project and how to present it. I think I also could’ve gone more into depth
about the different people I research as I didn’t include as much detail as id like.
• Overall I think my Contextual Research was effective, I think I talked about different theories well throughout
this PowerPoint and included a variety of different ones. I think the designers I looked into do fit with the
overall theme of my product as they do the same sort of Art and Photography that I am going to be doing.
However in the future I will definitely go into more research and apply the this throughout future research.
5. Research Evaluation
• After completing my Pre-Proposal, Proposal and Contextual Research tasks I will now move onto the next
task which was my Research PowerPoint. I believe this is important because I gathered research and looked
into different websites and books that included a similar theme to my project and how I could use these
techniques throughout my project.
• I researched York Art Gallery and Castle Fine Art, these website helped me to look into different types of art
they both presented and how I could achieve the same. When looking at York Art Gallery I was able to create
a stereotype and talk about that for a few slides. This created my target audience research as I went in depth
about genders. This section of the PowerPoint will help in upcoming work as I can talk about it and include it
in my work.
• A research that I wish I had looked into is tutorials, this would have prepared me for when I move onto Pre-
Production and Production as I could’ve given myself a head start by having a idea on what tutorials I wanted
to follow and use for my project.
• Overall I like to consider that this part of my research is successful. I looked into different aspects of my
product and looked in detail on the different things I can include in my project. However as I previously
talked about tutorials as researching into these could be a big impact in my future projects.
6. Research Continued
• This slide is continuing my research, in my previous slide I talked about researching different websites and
books whereas in this slide I will evaluate my survey monkey. I believe that this is important as it gives me
feedback from my target audience and shows me what sort of products they would prefer, I can also get a
secondary audience from this information.
• I believe that this research was my primary research as it gave my target audience the chance to get involved
with my project and decide what they would like to see and prefer in my project. This way helps me to know
exactly what I want to produce and make something my audience will enjoy. I advertised this survey on my
Snapchat and received many responses, I picked the answers with the most votes as this was the answers
my audience most agreed with.
• However if I had more time to think about my survey and the questions I wanted to include in them, I
would’ve included more questions to do with products so that I could’ve got a clearer idea on how to
present my project and make products which my audience would like the best. E.g I didn’t include anything
about magazines so I didn’t know if they would enjoy this product I was going to make.
• Overall I would consider this part of my evaluation as very successful and important. As I have spoken about
in my previous comments, I believe this massively helps with the production of my project and will help me
to make something interesting for my audience. However I want to include more questions to do with each
product I am going to make and different questions about each.
7. Production Experiments Evaluation
• In this slide I will be talking about Production Experiments. This is important as the previous slides are
considered Technical and Theorical Problems whereas this section is the start of my production. I also talk
about different problems that I could face throughout the project and how to prevent them. This includes
Storage, Models, Equipment and others. I think this is important as if any of these problems happen
throughout the project I am able to go back to this PowerPoint and refer back to it if any issues are to
happen.
• When creating my Experiments I was able to look on YouTube and find different tutorials I liked the look of
and try and test them out to see if they were something I want to include in my project. I think this is a
important part of the project as I am able to create different photos with different effects and edits and see
what is best for my project and fits the theme.
• However I think I should’ve looked into more experiments as this is the main feature of my project, all
photos are being edited so having multiple experiments would’ve helped to have more plans for my
productions, this would’ve helped to look back on to refer back to if I needed any more inspiration for my
products.
• Overall, I am very happy to have evaluated my Production Experiments I believe this is very important as it as
health and safety graph throughout the PowerPoint and is very useful to look back on if any problems are to
happen through the project. As I talked about previously I would’ve included more experiments as I could’ve
used the photos to look back on for inspiration.
