Production Process Evaluation
Research
I think that some of my strengths of my research is that I put a lot of thought into the analysing of the
picture as well as into my survey as I asked specific questions that would help my final product however
from my survey I think I didn’t receive the answers I was hoping for , this could have been related to the fact
that maybe I didn’t ask the right types of questions and aimed them at the right types of people as I didn’t
get the responses that I felt were necessary to help make my final product. However this does not mean that
I did not use the feedback that I received, I adapted it so that I could still use it to help my final product as I
still took into consideration what some of the people answered. As an example I used the types of colours
that I asked about in my survey as I wanted to know what types of colours would attract people to a
magazine cover as most people said that there was’t a specific colour so I decided to not base the magazine
design on the colours and focus more on the main picture especially as it was quite a colourful picture with a
lot going on in the background. In my opinion I think that my research really benefited my final products as it
really helped me to understand what my audience would prefer and what they even wanted for example
what types of t-shirt styles they would prefer. I personally think that a weakness of my research was that I
didn’t necessarily ask the right questions ask I didn’t really get the responses that I was looking for as I
wanted answers so that I knew whether I should use specific colours or styles. If I had the chance to improve
it I would decide to re evaluate my surveys to ensure that they would be more in depth and I would make
sure I could get the answers I was really looking for and this would enhance my final product as I could
actually use the results to make a product that my audience want to buy. A strength of my interview is that I
went more in-depth on the interview than my survey as I decided to ask the questions that I didn’t get the
best response about, however a weakness of the is that I maybe didn’t word them right and didn't get the
answers I was routing for.
Planning
• In my opinion I believe that some of the strengths of my planning was the style sheet as this
really helped me to figure out what sort of fonts, colours and styles I wanted to go down and
what would be most appropriate for my target audience. For example I found many similar
existing products of what I wanted to make however I found that they were suited towards a
much older age range than mine is. I think that this was one of my weaknesses about my
planning as I did’t really think about my target audience and how much different that can
change an overview of a product. However I think that overall my planning really helped to
enhance my final product as I wouldn't’t of found a good selection of colour schemes and
fonts to use. If I had a chance to redo it I would definitely spend more time thinking about
planning it towards a more younger age range than I did as I didn't’t take this into
consideration and almost forgot about it. Therefore I believe that if I had conducted a better
planning strategy I would of ended up with a more accurate product that would be perfectly
suited towards my target audience. A strength of my health and safety planning , contingency
planning and the schedule is that I didn’t fall into any issues because I planned ahead, this is
the same for my contingency and the schedule. However a weakness is that I could not plan
everything that could potentially go wrong therefore there was still room for error.
Time Management
• In my opinion i believe that I did not manage my time well as I think I did not leave enough
time for the actual production itself and didn’t leave as much time as I would of liked to
therefore I do not believe I did aswell as I could of done, I think that if I had extra time and
another chance to redo my products they would been a lot better and I would of put a lot
more time and effort into them. I would of also spent more time on my research and surveys
as I also think that I didnt put enough time and effort into them as they would really benefit
my final product. I used a range of tools in photoshop such as the magnetic lasso tool as i
found this helpful to cut out
Technical Qualities
Some of the similarities of my final product
and a similar existing product are that they
both have large titles at the top of the page , I
personally did this to attract the attention of
the reader to the head mast as it could be
something that they remember. Another
similarity of these magazine covers is that they
both have a very obvious colour scheme for
example in the right magazine there is colour
scheme of yellow and white and in my
magazine there is a purple and black colour
scheme. A difference between these is that
my magazine has a QR code which allows
users to scan for more content and that my
magazine has a barcode and price on the front
cover which is useful to see how much it is on
the front. In these products I used Photoshop
tool which allowed me to recreate a similar
layout to real products for example the
magnetic lasso tool to get a clean cut out on
the specific photos and this really helped my
final products to become and look more
realistic however this can quite fiddly and
tricky to get a perfect line cut out.
Aesthetic Qualities
Overall I believe my work is aesthetically pleasing and does a good job of catching the readers
attention. I believe that its unique as you don’t see clothes that look like this often. I believe that my
work is colorful which will catch the attention of my target audience which is young people. Young
people are drawn to color and many colors are used in my work. I believe that more work could have
been done on my logo as it is very simple and may be forgotten easily. Improvements I could make
include making the logo easy to remember and more eye catching. In Photoshop I created these visuals
with many different colors and textures and I decided to use different colors as I feel that it gives the
products more character and that they seem louder compared to if I just used black and white. I think
that each of my products have a strengths and weaknesses for example for my magazine is very bright
and has a clear color scheme compared to my t-shirts where there are a lot of colors placed on top of a
t-shirt template and doesn't really match.
Audience Appeal
In my opinion I think that my products do appeal to my target audience as I believe that I used my research well
enough and really catered towards my specific age range for example I used a celebrity big name that will be
more suited towards 16-19yr old and will attract them more if there is a celebrity they are probably more likely
to read/buy the magazine. On my magazine I included a QR code which allowed people to easily access more
information, this is more appealing towards the age range as this is very up to date technology wise and if they
can just scan a code on there phone this will be more accessible. Throughout my products I use many different
colors which makes every item unique and different therefore they are more likely to buy them if they are rare
and exclusive to my clothing range. On my logo design I used a monogram effect which is associated with
celebrities and high end couture brands , this will appeal to my audience well as influence them to buy the
products. In my t-shirt design i appealed to my target gender which was both males and females as there is no
visual representation that they are assigned towards a specific gender as the shape is very basic as well as very
wearable colors however I aimed it towards a be longer as the clothes are very unique and diverse and because
they live in a small city they are more likely to support smaller brands and be brand loyal. For my magazine I
appealed to my target gender as my magazine isn't aimed at males or females in particular as it is open to
anyone to read and enjoy.
Peer
Feedback
Feedback 1
What did you like about the product?
I liked the colours that were used as they stood out. I also liked the colour
scheme of the magazine cover.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
I believe the logo should have been incorporated into the clothing and on the
magazine cover .
Feedback 2
What did you like about the product?
I believe that the colours used matched the target audience and the logo is
eye catching.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
I think a different font should have been used for the title of the magazine to
make it stand out more.
Feedback 3
What did you like about the product?
I liked how the text on the magazine matched the colour of the tree in the
background
What improvements could have been made to the product?
I think the title of the magazine should have been bigger as it is shadowed by
some of the sub headings.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– I agree that there are very good colour schemes and that this is a big strength of my products as this will attract more
of my target audience as a group of 16-19 year olds are more likely to be attracted towards brighter and bolder
colours. I used feedback from my surveys to find this out therefore I tried to use as much complimentary colours as
possible for example pink and black and green and white go well together and contrast each other. I see a lot of big
brand magazines using this technique which means that it will be effective.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I disagree that the title of my magazine should be bigger as I believe it is visible and vibrant enough that you would
need it to be any bigger or a different colour, this is because I feel that if it was too big it would take away some of the
other factors towards the magazine and therefore I would need to increase some of the other headers to make sure
that it didn’t take all the attention and people would still read the other information. I also believe that the colour
scheme is very important throughout my products and personally I think that if I changed the title colour to
something bolder it wouldn’t look as good and could potentially ruin the aesthetic look of the products.
Peer Feedback Summary
In my opinion I think that if I had the opportunity to make some changes to my
products after seeing how they turned out and from my peer feedback I would
maybe look at different fonts for example something more unique and personal
towards my audience , for my magazine cover and about where I place them
depending on the relevance of the information for example a celebrity's name is
more important and will draw more attention if it is bolder than some of the other
writing however I would not change any of the colour schemes as I think that this is a
good audience appeal. I wouldn’t change any of the header positions as I think that
they compliment each other and they are in size order of relevance.

Research I think that some of my strengths of my research is that I put a lot of thought into the analysing of the picture as well as into my survey as I asked specific questions that would help my final product however from my survey I think I didn’t receive the answers I was hoping for , this could have been related to the fact that maybe I didn’t ask the right types of questions and aimed them at the right types of people as I didn’t get the responses that I felt were necessary to help make my final product. However this does not mean that I did not use the feedback that I received, I adapted it so that I could still use it to help my final product as I still took into consideration what some of the people answered. As an example I used the types of colours that I asked about in my survey as I wanted to know what types of colours would attract people to a magazine cover as most people said that there was’t a specific colour so I decided to not base the magazine design on the colours and focus more on the main picture especially as it was quite a colourful picture with a lot going on in the background. In my opinion I think that my research really benefited my final products as it really helped me to understand what my audience would prefer and what they even wanted for example what types of t-shirt styles they would prefer. I personally think that a weakness of my research was that I didn’t necessarily ask the right questions ask I didn’t really get the responses that I was looking for as I wanted answers so that I knew whether I should use specific colours or styles. If I had the chance to improve it I would decide to re evaluate my surveys to ensure that they would be more in depth and I would make sure I could get the answers I was really looking for and this would enhance my final product as I could actually use the results to make a product that my audience want to buy. A strength of my interview is that I went more in-depth on the interview than my survey as I decided to ask the questions that I didn’t get the best response about, however a weakness of the is that I maybe didn’t word them right and didn't get the answers I was routing for.
  • 4. Planning • In my opinion I believe that some of the strengths of my planning was the style sheet as this really helped me to figure out what sort of fonts, colours and styles I wanted to go down and what would be most appropriate for my target audience. For example I found many similar existing products of what I wanted to make however I found that they were suited towards a much older age range than mine is. I think that this was one of my weaknesses about my planning as I did’t really think about my target audience and how much different that can change an overview of a product. However I think that overall my planning really helped to enhance my final product as I wouldn't’t of found a good selection of colour schemes and fonts to use. If I had a chance to redo it I would definitely spend more time thinking about planning it towards a more younger age range than I did as I didn't’t take this into consideration and almost forgot about it. Therefore I believe that if I had conducted a better planning strategy I would of ended up with a more accurate product that would be perfectly suited towards my target audience. A strength of my health and safety planning , contingency planning and the schedule is that I didn’t fall into any issues because I planned ahead, this is the same for my contingency and the schedule. However a weakness is that I could not plan everything that could potentially go wrong therefore there was still room for error.
  • 5. Time Management • In my opinion i believe that I did not manage my time well as I think I did not leave enough time for the actual production itself and didn’t leave as much time as I would of liked to therefore I do not believe I did aswell as I could of done, I think that if I had extra time and another chance to redo my products they would been a lot better and I would of put a lot more time and effort into them. I would of also spent more time on my research and surveys as I also think that I didnt put enough time and effort into them as they would really benefit my final product. I used a range of tools in photoshop such as the magnetic lasso tool as i found this helpful to cut out
  • 6. Technical Qualities Some of the similarities of my final product and a similar existing product are that they both have large titles at the top of the page , I personally did this to attract the attention of the reader to the head mast as it could be something that they remember. Another similarity of these magazine covers is that they both have a very obvious colour scheme for example in the right magazine there is colour scheme of yellow and white and in my magazine there is a purple and black colour scheme. A difference between these is that my magazine has a QR code which allows users to scan for more content and that my magazine has a barcode and price on the front cover which is useful to see how much it is on the front. In these products I used Photoshop tool which allowed me to recreate a similar layout to real products for example the magnetic lasso tool to get a clean cut out on the specific photos and this really helped my final products to become and look more realistic however this can quite fiddly and tricky to get a perfect line cut out.
  • 7. Aesthetic Qualities Overall I believe my work is aesthetically pleasing and does a good job of catching the readers attention. I believe that its unique as you don’t see clothes that look like this often. I believe that my work is colorful which will catch the attention of my target audience which is young people. Young people are drawn to color and many colors are used in my work. I believe that more work could have been done on my logo as it is very simple and may be forgotten easily. Improvements I could make include making the logo easy to remember and more eye catching. In Photoshop I created these visuals with many different colors and textures and I decided to use different colors as I feel that it gives the products more character and that they seem louder compared to if I just used black and white. I think that each of my products have a strengths and weaknesses for example for my magazine is very bright and has a clear color scheme compared to my t-shirts where there are a lot of colors placed on top of a t-shirt template and doesn't really match.
  • 8. Audience Appeal In my opinion I think that my products do appeal to my target audience as I believe that I used my research well enough and really catered towards my specific age range for example I used a celebrity big name that will be more suited towards 16-19yr old and will attract them more if there is a celebrity they are probably more likely to read/buy the magazine. On my magazine I included a QR code which allowed people to easily access more information, this is more appealing towards the age range as this is very up to date technology wise and if they can just scan a code on there phone this will be more accessible. Throughout my products I use many different colors which makes every item unique and different therefore they are more likely to buy them if they are rare and exclusive to my clothing range. On my logo design I used a monogram effect which is associated with celebrities and high end couture brands , this will appeal to my audience well as influence them to buy the products. In my t-shirt design i appealed to my target gender which was both males and females as there is no visual representation that they are assigned towards a specific gender as the shape is very basic as well as very wearable colors however I aimed it towards a be longer as the clothes are very unique and diverse and because they live in a small city they are more likely to support smaller brands and be brand loyal. For my magazine I appealed to my target gender as my magazine isn't aimed at males or females in particular as it is open to anyone to read and enjoy.
  • 10. Feedback 1 What did you like about the product? I liked the colours that were used as they stood out. I also liked the colour scheme of the magazine cover. What improvements could have been made to the product? I believe the logo should have been incorporated into the clothing and on the magazine cover .
  • 11. Feedback 2 What did you like about the product? I believe that the colours used matched the target audience and the logo is eye catching. What improvements could have been made to the product? I think a different font should have been used for the title of the magazine to make it stand out more.
  • 12. Feedback 3 What did you like about the product? I liked how the text on the magazine matched the colour of the tree in the background What improvements could have been made to the product? I think the title of the magazine should have been bigger as it is shadowed by some of the sub headings.
  • 13. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? – I agree that there are very good colour schemes and that this is a big strength of my products as this will attract more of my target audience as a group of 16-19 year olds are more likely to be attracted towards brighter and bolder colours. I used feedback from my surveys to find this out therefore I tried to use as much complimentary colours as possible for example pink and black and green and white go well together and contrast each other. I see a lot of big brand magazines using this technique which means that it will be effective. • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? – I disagree that the title of my magazine should be bigger as I believe it is visible and vibrant enough that you would need it to be any bigger or a different colour, this is because I feel that if it was too big it would take away some of the other factors towards the magazine and therefore I would need to increase some of the other headers to make sure that it didn’t take all the attention and people would still read the other information. I also believe that the colour scheme is very important throughout my products and personally I think that if I changed the title colour to something bolder it wouldn’t look as good and could potentially ruin the aesthetic look of the products.
  • 14. Peer Feedback Summary In my opinion I think that if I had the opportunity to make some changes to my products after seeing how they turned out and from my peer feedback I would maybe look at different fonts for example something more unique and personal towards my audience , for my magazine cover and about where I place them depending on the relevance of the information for example a celebrity's name is more important and will draw more attention if it is bolder than some of the other writing however I would not change any of the colour schemes as I think that this is a good audience appeal. I wouldn’t change any of the header positions as I think that they compliment each other and they are in size order of relevance.
