J Crew Swot Analysis
J Crew is a high end clothing store located in the fashion mall off of Keystone and 86 Street in
Indianapolis. The exact address is: 8702 Keystone Crossing, Indianapolis, IN 46240. The Fashion
Mall in general is considered high end and very upscale. J Crew is known for its preppy style and high
quality. The store I have chosen to compare J Crew to is Old Navy in Clay Terrace, an outdoor
shopping center in Carmel, Indiana. The exact address for this clothing store is: 14250 Clay Terrace
Blvd, Suite180, Carmel, IN 46032. Clay Terrace is a very nice outdoor shopping center it is not like an
outlet mall in that it is much more high end. Old Navy is known for its bargain prices and being able
to keep up with modern day fashion with those bargain prices. When you walk into J Crew you
immediately get a classy feel. The tables and shelving of the store are made of a deep and beautiful
wood outlined with thick vibrant metals. The flooring is wood and the clothing set up is rich with
color and style to draw you into the atmosphere. Once you have entered the miraculous store the team
members immediately greet you with a warm welcome and a willingness to help in anyway possible.
The architecture is very classic with a modern twist to bring in all different types of people. The store
is very well lit but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The clothes are plentiful and cheap yet very functional. The displays are thrown together and the
employees are hit and miss when it comes to quality service. When you walk in the store it gives off
the feel of a warehouse and the fluorescent lighting adds to this overall feel. The store is more gaged
towards families on a budget. Old Navy is quantity over quality. The floors are stained concrete and
going back to the displays they are made of some cheap material including corkboard. The personality
of Old Navy is family friendly and back to the basics. Old Navy has the staple clothing everyone

Robert Frost Contributions
Robert Frost is a rare twentieth century poet, that may be the most recognized name in poetry. He won
the Pulitzer Prize a total of four times, which is more than any other poet. Some of his best work
includes: The Road Not Taken , Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . Robert Frost was a literary
legacy. When he was 87 years old, he was asked to write and recite a poem for President John F.
Kennedys inauguration. During Robert Frosts lifetime, he received over 40 honorary degrees and of
course his four Pulitzer Prizes. Robert Frosts life was reflected in his poetry in a variety of ways.
Robert Frost was raised in New England, and many of his poems characters and settings are based in
New England. Robert Frost was also greatly influenced by emotions and events in everyday life. He
could take every day events such as: watching ice weigh down birch tree branches, the mowing of
fields of hay or even the mending of stories on a wall and perceives a deeper meaning to love, hate, or
conflict. These writing techniques lead to another reason as to why Robert Frost is so successful.
Many of his poems, such as, Mending Wall and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening are inspired
by the natural world. In 1897, Frost began studying at Harvard. This really helped Robert Frost
become an intellectual and more of a serious poet. Unfortunately, after two years he had drop out of
school. He then became a chicken farmer, which helped familiarize him with farming and rural life.

The Undeniable Influence of Kanye West
The Undeniable Influence of Kanye West Kanye Omari West, an icon of hip hop, pop culture, fashion

By using the bear alone Mr. West turned Ralph Lauren onto the masses of rappers and fans (Kanye
West: The Evolution of an Icon s Clothes). As stated by West, he is the most influential person in
fashion in the last ten years . That statement very well may be true. West is always in the public eye
showing off his new outfits. These outfits are then turned over to the masses where people take
inspiration from them. Many people like to mimic and dress after their favorite celebrity but it seems
West has started an empire of clothing, striking deals with A.P.C., Nike, and Adidas seemingly
creating some type of sub genre to clothing called streetwear . West has been inspiring and influencing
the way rappers and the regular population dress since the days he wore a bear on his shirt. Newer
staples of West s fashion are tighter fitting clothes, leather, and suits. These types of materials and
clothing are undoubtedly a new trend in the hip hop community and industry all courtesy to Kanye
Omari West (C.M., Emmanuel). Rap with introspective, thought provoking lyrics never really
dominated the industry. The type of rappers who wrote about these kinds of things were usually more
underground artists and generally called backpack rappers and their fans, backpackers . It s not to say
rappers in the mainstream never talked about varying subjects, it was just never their primary focus.

Why The 2016 Election Is Different
The upcoming United States 2016 presidential election is different from previous elections in many
ways. First, the importance of money has decreased more than expected. It was believed that the
candidate with the most financial backing, had a larger advantage. According to Why the 2016
Election is Different , Gerald F. Seib explained how the financial front runner of the republican bid,
Governor Jeb Bush of Florida, ran an unsuccessful presidential campaign. Seib also explained how
Governor Scott Walker of Minnesota lost his presidential bid, while being backed by a heavily funded
super PAC. Money does not always determine a winner in the election process. In my opinion, being
financially supported is still key in running a successful campaign.

Review Of The Novel To Kill A Mockingbird
¬To Kill a Mockingbird Essay
The well known history novel To Kill a Mockingbird written by Harper lee takes place in Maycomb
County during the great depression. In this town, the main characters father, Atticus Finch, is tasked to
defend a black man named Tom Robinson in a race induced rape trial. Many themes in this novel were
represented, however a few minor points stood out. A major point that stood out was the development
of the main character Scout and her brother Jem. Also racism and evil contrasted to good and
compassion are very evident throughout this novel. Scout and Jem are siblings in the novel To Kill a
Mockingbird. In the beginning of the novel, Scout and Jem were very bratty like children who had

Social Stereotypes In The Boy And Barbie Doll
Stereotypes are often found in society and can encourage literature and art to agree or disagree with
these ideas. In The Boy and Barbie Doll the topic of gender roles displayed through imagery,
repetition, and simile, by highlighting the appearances and expectations of males and females. From
the moment the sex of a child is determined, people begin associating ideas and objects to that sex. If
it is a girl many will buy pink clothes and imagine her in a ballet class. If it is a boy they will buy blue
clothes and picture him as a football player. In both The Boy and Barbie Doll the authors address the
role and appearance of females through imagery, describing them in a way that fits the social
stereotype but pushes the comfort level.

The Dark Knight Harvey Dent Analysis
The conflicting relationships between moral desire and ethical duty is one fought every day in almost
every decision made. This decision to do what s right versus what they want is affected by many
different factors. One of the most important factors that can impact people s views on the balance of
desire vs duty is major adversities people have faced. However adversities that alter people s
philosophical views usually involve great tragedy commonly found at least once in every life. As a
consequence, people often experience some form of philosophical shift in their life based on shifting
ideals. This is clearly shown in by the conflict Harvey Dent faces in The Dark Knight, since he starts
as the White Knight and ends as a murderer. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also this deadly situation which he unexpectedly survives leads Harvey to question his life goals and
achievements as just when he won against the Joker he also suffers his greatest loss. Additionally this
crushes the anti corruption crusader s ability to continue his old ways of fighting crime and being the
city s White Knight as his own ethics are soon confused without a moral counter balance leaving him
vulnerable to the winds of change looking for a reason why he survived. Additionally his first words at
realising he was going to be saved over Rachel Harvey shouts No no no not me. Why are you coming
for me . This demonstrates how his moral desires were torn apart leaving his ethical duty left without a
counterbalance to serve against. Devastated this left him vulnerable as he looked for a new desire in
life and was ready to sacrifice the now outdated ethics which had failed him earlier.
While in this vulnerable state he is easily subjected to the new ideas that Joker uses to corrupt and
redesign Harvey Dent s ethical codes. Ironically this is done in the hospital where people are supposed
to heal. In the hospital evacuation scene the short conversation held between them made all the
difference to the White Knight s ethics leading him to pursue an entirely new philosophy as The joker
instilled a new moral desire. The conversation held exposes Dent to the random, uncontrollable,
anarchy that

Compare Feudalism And Manorialism
The Feudal system was developed to bring a sense of security and economic stability to medieval
Europe as the same goes to the manor system. Although by some definitions they appear to be very
alike, but there are a lot more differentiations than most assume. Feudalism and manorialism would
have characterize most of the European Middle Age. Feudalism involves the relationship between
landlords and upper the classes. And as Manorialism is the relationship between serf and landlord.
When describing a (one) lord, it refers to manorialism. When describing an entire middle age society,
it refers to the term feudalism.

Those who profited from feudalism remained as part of the institution as long as they possibly could.
Feudalism is the dominant form of political organization in Medieval Europe. It was a hierarchical
system of social relationships were in a noble lord granted land known as a fief to a free man....the
land granted to each vassal was inhabited by serfs who worked the land for him, providing him with
income to support his military endeavors; in turn, the vassal would protect the serfs from attack and
invasions. (Melissa Snell) This was one of the social systems that developed in Europe during the
eighth century. Vassals were protected by lords who by in definition served for higher authorities.
Practically, this system developed out of the fear and terror. Feudalism provided a political structure
between the social classes in which provided for an exchange of goods, and protection. This Medieval
Europe political system is in sum, a of a set of legal and military obligations, involving around the
three key concepts (as mentioned before) of lords, vassals, and fiefs. The Lord is a man of higher rank

A Major Systemic Risk Issue On Wall Street
With what started as one lender s possibility of going bankrupt soon began to look like a major
systemic risk issue on Wall Street. United States Government Leaders were left with tough decisions.
Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr had some of the toughest decisions to make during this time,
make the lenders pay for the mistakes and go bankrupt or have the government assist them and
provide them in order to stop what looked to be another great depression. Moral hazard, a situation in
which a party is insulated from the consequences of its actions; thus protected, it has no incentive to
behave differently, (Ahrens, 2008) was often the topic of discussion and reasoning behind his
decisions for Paulson. Originally when the first lender Bear Sterns became in trouble the reaction from
Treasurer Secretary Henry Paulson was to let them fail and deal with the outcome on their own. After
further review of the dealings Bear Stern had with several other financial intuitions, it soon became
clear that if this happened several other lenders would soon follow in bankruptcy. Henry Paulson and
the United States Federal Government decided that this was something they could not let happened
and stepped in. The United States government stepped in and was able to work out a deal with JP
Morgan to buy out Bear Sterns, hoping to stop the systemic risks in other lenders on Wall Street.
Henry Paulson wanted to make sure it was know that this was not a decision that was to be taken
lightly

Abstract The purpose of this study was to evaluate hydrolyzed feather meal (HFM) as a substitute for
fish meal (FM) or soybean meal (SBM) in Nile tilapia fry diets. Triplicate groups of fish (initial body
weight 2.30 g ± 0.01) were fed seven isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets formulated to contain 30 %
crude protein and 19.70 kJ g 1 gross energy for 8 weeks. The control diet (CD) contained 22 % local
FM and 30 % SBM, whereas in the other six diets, HFM replaced 33, 66 or 100 % of FM or SBM.
The best weight gain
(11.46), specific growth rate (3.14) and feed conversion ratio (1.24) of tilapia fry fed
SBM33%, CD, FM33% and SBM66% diets were exhibited. Final body weight and protein retention
increased in a linear pattern with increasing amino acids in the experimental diets with the exception
of leucine and valine. The results indicated that good quality HFM can successfully replace FM or
SBM by up to 33 and 66 %, respectively, in Nile tilapia fry diets without compromising growth and
protein utilization. The results also support the benefits of combining different sources of plant and
animal proteins in Nile tilapia diets.

Emerging Challenges in Airport Management
Project Assignment Air Transport Management (ATM 1) (Submitted by: Mohd. Khalid Khan) Title:
Emerging Challenges in Airport Management Way Forward Introduction: The last few years has seen
an exponential growth in the aviation industry. Aviation infrastructure has expanded to include
hundreds of airports and airlines around the world. New airports have mushroomed in places which
were hardly known to the world, existing airports have upgraded their facilities, new terminals have
come up and multiple airlines have been setup. The volume of people who choose aviation as a
transport has considerably grown. The aviation industry is in full bloom and so are the problems ...

Major expansion of one part may necessitate expansion of another. For example, adding new runways
and increasing the number of airside operations will result in the need for new gates and more terminal
waiting areas for passengers. Another problem often encountered in expansion is the lack of suitable
land. Many airports are closely surrounded by urbanized areas, land that would be extremely
expensive to acquire. In many metropolitan areas, a suitable tract of land might be distant from the
city center, making ground access a problem. In selecting a distant site, several questions arise. If a
new airport is a supplement to, rather than a substitute for, the existing airport, would passengers be
willing to travel that far to use it? Would air carriers be willing to serve an airport that might attract
fewer passengers than the old airport? These questions above need to be answered in order for funds
to come easily and satisfaction of both the government and the public. This has become a major issue
in today`s world of fast moving aviation. The following points help keep a check on airport
development and initiate proper release of funds for the same. a) Drafting a sound financing strategy
with realistic projects. b) Encouraging private investments and review public financing options. c)
Understanding the new airport management concepts. d) Introducing the brand awareness concept in

There is a plethora of theories that can be employed to explain crime but none is more applicable and
relevant in my mind than the theory that A neighborhood or any form of A location is more than if not
as much of A catalyst for crime in that area coupled with the deterioration of the educational system
leads to A cycle of insurmountable poverty that in turn leads to crime. Crime is A direct product of
poverty. Where there s an impoverished population with almost nowhere to turn there s a rise reason

He even went as far as describing those individuals who are born to eventually become criminals with
specific anatomical features such as sloping forehead, ears of unusual size, asymmetry of the face,
prognathism, excessive length of arms, asymmetry of the cranium and other physical stigmata .
Specific criminals, such as thieves, rapists, and murderers, could be distinguished by specific
characteristics that born criminals had less sensibility to pain and touch; more acute sight; a lack of
moral sense, including an absence of remorse; more vanity, impulsiveness, vindictiveness, and cruelty;
and other manifestations, such as a special criminal argot and the excessive use of tattooing. In closing
I oppose these theories is firstly due in part to the fact that in the case of Lombroso s theory he s
basically trying to predict A future of crime for people based on inherited traits that can t be changed
or altered in any way possible and that their just born primitive . And on top of all of he firmly
believed that just these traits alone basically predetermined what your life would end up inevitably
being stating that A person who is the criminal type cannot refrain from committing crime unless he

people have at least one recollection of someone who came from unfavorable circumstances and made

For adults and children you must palpate the carotid artery, in the neck. To find the carotid artery,
locate the trachea with two fingers, which is in the center of the neck. Slide those two fingers into the
grove between the trachea and the necks muscles. For infants, palpate the brachial artery which is
located in the arm, where the forearm and upper arm connects. This should take up to five seconds and
no longer than 10 seconds to locate the pulse. After you have completed this and concluded that there
is no pulse you may begin compressions. This is where it gets tricky. You as the rescuer will position
yourself at the victim s side. You must make sure the victim is lying with his torso facing up and his
back on the floor. Also make sure he or she is on a flat surface, if not it will make everything that
much more difficult. If you suspect that the victim has a head or neck injury, try to keep that part of
their body in line with the rest of their body. Place the heel of one hand on the center of the victim s
chest, towards the bottom half of the breast bone. After that place the heel of your other hand on top of
the first. You must push hard and fast! If the victim is an adult/child the chest should be pushed down
at least 2 inches. Make sure your arms stay straight as you compress down on the victim s breastbone.
By the end of every compression make sure you allow the chest to come to a full recoil. This means
you must allow the chest to re expand completely before pressing down again. The chest coming to a
full recoil allows for blood to flow into the heart and is very important for blood flow. You have to get
at least 100 beats per minute! Next for the breaths, this may also get tricky. Be sure to place one hand,
palm facing down, on the victims forehead. With that same hand pinch the victims nose with your
forefinger and thumb so air will not escape through the nose since the nose and mouth are connected.

The Controversy Of Edward Jenner s Vaccine
The history of vaccinations begin with Edward Jenner, the country doctor from Gloucestershire who
found, growing on cows, a nearly harmless virus the protected people from smallpox. Jenner s vaccine
was safer, more reliable, and more durable than variolation, and it is still the only vaccine to have
eliminated its reason for being in 1980, when the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the
disease extinct. For nearly a century and a half, smallpox was the only vaccine routinely administered,
and it saved millions of lives . But the controversy that marked the return of the vaccine, amid

Lone Survivor
Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell is a nonfiction memoir told from his view of the war and what
really happened during Operation Red Wings. Peter Berg directed the movie Lone Survivor based off
what Luttrell wrote in his memoir. Although the movie is based on the novel, there are subtle
differences between the movie both Luttrell and Berg made in the memoir and movie. These various
differences not only change the view and knowledge of this event but also the audiences
understanding of the real history of Operation Red Wings. When audiences watched the movie or read
the memoir they believe everything is correct and accurate. But Luttrell and Berg have subtle
differences between their two works. The first difference is that Luttrell nearly dies in the opening and
closing of the film. The film opens with a voice over and Marcus Luttrell is airlifted back to military

Cvs Caremark Strategic Analysis Essay
CVS Caremark: A Case Analysis
Current Situation
CVS Pharmacy is the retail division of CVS Caremark. It is also one of the largest Pharmacy Retail
Chains in the country and operates more than 7,400 stores domestically. Although the retail
pharmaceutical division of this corporation accounts for a significant amount of this company s
success, CVS Caremark focuses more on its corporate strategy to compete with other industry rivals
such as Walgreens and Rite Aid. Considering CVS Caremark is the result of the 2007 merger of CVS
and Caremark Rx, this analysis will begin with a brief history and the merger of these corporations, its
current performance, strategic posture, and the strategic managers of this organization.
History

According to Rusli, the merger would create more in store traffic for CVS and increase both
companies consumer base. This merger gave CVS the opportunity to expand both its own small
pharmacy benefits manager business and mail order business. CVS s opportunity to take advantage of
Caremark s pharmacy benefits manager business allowed it to take advantage of the mail order
business as well that had begun cutting into drug stores revenue (Rusli, 2013). By providing its
customers with a unique set of services and gaining the market power to control costs, CVS Caremark
gained a competitive advantage. Unless competitors like Walgreens and Rite Aid find a way to
respond to CVS Caremark s strategy, it will be difficult to remain competitive with this firm for long.
Overall, the merger was a great strategic move on behalf of both organizations, which helped ensure
the current success of CVS Caremark. Current Performance CVS Caremark has continued to flourish
since the merger nearly seven years ago. Today, CVS Caremark is the leading pharmacy healthcare
provider in the United States. Leading the market in mail order pharmacy, retail pharmacy, specialty
pharmacy, and retail medical clinics, has allowed CVS Caremark to gain and hold a major portion of
the pharmaceutical market share. According to CVS Caremark s website, this translates into the

How Does Harry Potter Show Courage
In this unit on Myth and Legend we read many different themes including courage and strength,
compassion and sacrificial love, warning against vanity and gossip and tragic consequence. The one
theme that stuck with me is courage.
I feel that courage is important because if we don t teach that courage is a good thing then, we would
be stuck doing the same thing everyone else would be doing with only courageous enjoying life and
they would most likely control the people that do not have courage. some of the greatest inventions
happened on accident and some people discouraged them for inventing, but they still had enough
courage in themselves and their idea and made things that would change lives. Also amazing things
that changing the course of history happened because people had courage to make a path for
themselves and future generation. If we don t have courage it ... Show more content on

BARRIERS TO COMMUNICATION In any organization effective communication forms an essential
part of the organization s growth and progress. However, it has been seen that this is not always the
case. This istrue in today s globalized world when one has employees coming from different ethnic,
cultural and religious backgrounds working together. If the reasons for communication failure are
examined it has been found that they fall in four distinct categories. These are: 1) Process or
organizational barriers. 2) Personal barriers 3) Physical barriers 4) Semantic barriers These categories

provisioning of stationery, telephones, computers, etc. are essential for effective communication.
Personal barriers: These are barriers that are imposed by the personality and culture o the persons
participating in the communication. These barriers are found both in vertical and horizontal
communications. These barriers are further sub divided into: 1) Barriers with superiors: This when the
superiors feel that there may be a challenge to their position and authority. This is when the superiors
are not confident in their ability and fear that any communication with their juniors could lead to their
deficiencies being exposed. Another problem arises when the superior has little or no confidence in
the capabilities of his or her sub ordinates. This leads to them ignoring any suggestions and

Airborne Express Case Study 1
Executive summary
Airborne Express is the third largest and fastest growing international air express delivery company in
America. It held roughly 16% of the domestic express mail market by 1997. It provides time sensitive
delivery of documents, letters, small packages, and freight in the United States and internationally.
The company has several advantages over its rivals, such as it provides delivery services at a lower
cost of up to 20% over FedEx and UPS; it operates the nation s only privately owned foreign trade
zone in Wilmington; it is more flexible and provides more customer tailored services. It charges lower
price but still much guarantee delivery dates (not offered by the US Postal Service).

Competition: the US domestic express mail market is somewhat in an oligopoly status. The
competition among the big three is quite fierce. Yet normally FedEx and UPS lead the market. The six
other second tier players do not have any threats to the three major players.
The US Postal Service served much of the rest of the market. However, it has a limited popularity just
among residential customers because it is inefficient in package tracking and has a much worse on
time delivery record. It has a legal monopoly for first class letters. But the company is prohibited by
law from offering volume discounts to customers.
DHL and TNT focus on the international market and trans border shipments. DHL offer hard to reach
service since it has hubs in many other different places in the world. It has never invested heavily in
domestic market. TNT focuses its effort on Europe.
BAX Global focuses on heavy cargo. RPS does not offer overnight delivery. It focused on two day
delivery via a ground network. It is known for its efficient ground transportation and its sophisticated
information technology.
The traditional express industry is threatened by facsimile and electronic mails, which have zero cost.
Competition between FedEx and UPS has caused a lower price and more innovations. The industry is
quite consolidated and has a very high barrier to

Review Of Naguib Mafouz s Akhenaten

Word Count:
Akhenaten
Akhenaten is a novel written by Naguib Mafouz depicting the life of the heretic king, Akhenaten, from
fourteen different perspectives. While some condemn him for his faith and brand him as the plague to
Egypt, many praise him for his enormous amount of faith. What sets this book apart from others
written about the emphasis of religion on Egyptian life, is that it is written by a Muslim man regarding
the topic of monotheism. It is not until after reading all fourteen accounts, that it becomes possible to
figure out his full history. Akhenaten s birth name was Amenhotep, but eventually changed it to
Akhenaten after stepping foot in the city of Akhenaten. Akhenaten was monotheist,

The 2012 Crash Of Convair N153jr Essay
The 2012 crash of Convair N153JR is a text book example of how human error and the absence of
crew resource management can result in the unnecessary loss of life. This accident involves a transport
company named Fresh Air Inc. that transported cargo between the Caribbean islands using vintage
1953 Convair aircraft. The co owner of the company, who was also the primary pilot, established and
nurtured an environment of relaxed rules and desultory aviation operations. The primary pilot
consistently flew the Convair aircraft outside its operational parameters by disabling key aircraft
systems needed for safe operations. Additionally, the captain filled Fresh Air with incompetent
personnel that could not maintain safe and airworthy operations. To further exacerbate an already
dangerous situation, assigned Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) inspectors were derelict in their
duties and performed only superficial inspections on the company. Numerous and serious violations
were overlooked by the inspectors and this removed the last remaining barrier for accident prevention.
The captain s insouciant approach to flying and company operations coupled with inept FAA oversight
directly led to the crash of Convair N153JR. Accident Overview On March 15th 2012 at 7:35 a.m.

The Fox And The Wood Cutter By Aesop
A fable is a story that involves humans and talking animals and usually implies a moral. One fable
written by Aesop titled The Fox and the Woodcutter tells a story of human nature. Though the lesson
is not keen to the eye, one phrase id use to describe it is absolutely right. the fox is a character that

ounce of vigor and energy, she spots our hunter and begs for her protection amongst the trees he fell.

Public Services And Public Sector
Businesses vary. Schools, shops, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, banks, spas, and universities are all
businesses in the sense that they all have corporate missions or targets to deliver whilst, at the same
time being under constraints and pressures.
These businesses can be divided into 3 categories;
1. Private
2. Public
3. The Voluntary/Third Sector e.g. Charities and Co Operatives.
Public Sector Companies are predominately focused on providing the best service that budget allows
to the communities or taxpayers. For example if the government run bus service in a remote area is not
getting enough customers, the government may still continue this service as its main objective is to
provide and not to maximise profits. On the other hand, if this service was run by a private sectors
business, they may end it if they do not find it profitable, as their main priority is predominately to
increase revenue.
However, in recent years, the government has encouraged Public Sector Companies to focus on
commercial targets, whilst at the same time meeting government targets. This is due to budget cuts
and the reorganisation of government money as Public Companies are funded by the taxpayer, either
directly e.g. council tax; or indirectly e.g. income tax distributed by the Government.
Private sector objectives will often differ from objectives set in the public sector. Private Sector
Companies are normally owned by private individuals or families. However, they can also be owned

The Dichotomy Of Freedom And Slavery Essay
The dichotomy of freedom and slavery in rhetoric and rise of the United States of America has long
been an enigma, a source of endless debate for scholars and citizens alike who wonder how a nation
steeped in the ideals of republicanism could so easily subjugate and enslave an entire group of people.
The Chesapeake region was home to America s great statesmen, men who espoused ideals of freedom
and liberty from tyranny. Yet at the same time, these men held hundreds of men, women, and children
in conditions of lifelong bondage. How then did this dichotomy arise? The dangers posed by
indentured servants that became freemen resulted in the development of a system of African
descended chattel slavery in the Chesapeake, a system whose creation and continuance was aided by a
continuum of racial thinking and racial prejudice aimed at Africans in Virginia.
From the outset, the issue of labor in the Chesapeake was a dominant force in the creation of colonial
society. The origins of colonial labor rested on the shoulders of indentured servants, often unemployed
laborers from England sent to the colony by the Virginia Company. After serving a term of seven
years, each servant was then entitled to freedom and the opportunity to work in the colony to best
achieve individual benefits and the success offered by the New World. The early generations of these
servants turned freemen posed little problem to their former masters as they constituted to small a
segment of the population to

Descriptive Essay About South Boston
10. South Boston
Known as one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, South Boston is placed on a peninsula that
extends into the Boston Harbor. It is linked to the rest of the city through a narrow strip of land. Over
the years, this strip of land has been gradually widened through landfill.
For over a century, South Boston has been one of the most populated neighborhoods in the city. In the
mid 1800s, it was the third most populous section of Boston. Over the year, new residential
subdivisions have developed in the neighborhood. Each new subdivision has a unique character and
architectural style. Telegraph Hill and Dorchester Heights were both created in the middle of the 19th
century to house the city s growing population base.
Originally annexed by Boston in 1804, this neighborhood really started to thrive in the mid 19th
century when the Old Colony Railroad made reaching downtown Boston easy. Before long, it was a
center of industry with shipyards, iron foundries and machine shops popping up everywhere. Today,
industrial buildings can still be found on the northern side of the peninsula.
Modern South Boston has many long time residents as well as young professionals. With its easy
access to downtown, this area is popular among commuters. It boasts of a thriving nightlife scene and
open spaces. Miles of waterfront parks and beaches can be found at areas like L Street Beach, Carson
Beach, the Strandway and Pleasure Bay.

My Love For Music
Life as a teenager today can be very stressful and sometimes intense. One must reflect to outweigh
these crazy times with special moments and special people. Being a team member in many Pine
Richland High School Band programs has allowed me to dive in and move forward sharing my love
for music and touching the lives of others.
My involvement in the band has led me out of my comfort zone, and allowed me to be a strong and
confident leader. Through my achievement of various leadership roles and opportunities in my school
and community, I attribute my love for helping people and love of music in making me a unique
person. Music has given me the ability to shout, plunk out keys on the piano, or play crazy high notes
on my flute, and not be afraid of what others may think. My unique, responsible, caring leadership
attributes and love for music are reflected as I stand at the top of a metal ladder, shouting across the
football field. As one of my band s Drum Majors, I am responsible for leading our 266 Pine Richland
marching band. On the first day of band camp, I was terrified no one would listen to me, I would not
remember what to do, or I simply wouldn t be good enough. However, soon I realized I deserved my
position and would help our band be its best. I gave it my all, and sooner than later, my shouts could
be heard across the field and my whistle pierced the air. The dedication, determination, knowledge,

Seamus Heaney s Mid Term Break
Everybody knows the feeling of losing a loved one, a friend, or family member. Everyone has been to
at least one funeral, and it s very sad and at times uncomfortable. The awkward interactions with
people saying sorry or the feeling of seeing the ones you love be in such pain. In the poem, Mid term
Break , published in 1966, Seamus Heaney touches this subject in every aspect. In Mid term Break
Heaney tells the story of a young man whose brother has died and he comes home to the funeral. As
the boy enters his house he sees things that are now different after the death of his brother. Heaney s
words and use of poetic devices draws a picture of the sad scene. In this poem Heaney writes about a
death which is typical for many of his poems. James Persoon, a writer for The Facts On File
Companion to British Poetry, 1900 to Present, writes that Heaney here draws on his own experience in
having an adolescent speaker reflect on the death of his four year old brother, for the poet s brother,
Christopher, was killed in a car accident at age four in 1953. (Persoon). Not only can one see that
Heaney s emotions were put into this poem but also his own life experiences. Losing a family member
is hard enough, and it is even harder when that person is young because no one will ever know the full
potential that person could have had if they had not died. The language Heaney uses allows the reader
to see the importance of the main character. It also shows the significance of the

The Causes Of European Revolutions In The 1820 s
Revolutions has long been a common event for Europeans living during the 1820 s through the 1840 s.
All walks of life engaged in these revolutions. From proletariats to young army officers to professors
and even to the common unemployed peasants. These citizens ensured a future for their countries by
way of bloodshed and protest.
The revolutions of the 1820 s and 1830 s in Germany started out with fraternities calling for the
unification of the German speaking lands into the unified Germany. Cumulating with the festivals of
both Wartburg and Hambach, 1815 and 1832 respectively. Both festivals were seen by the reactionary
governments of the time as a threat to national security and the government passed the Karlsbad
Decrees which suppressed fraternities at German universities. The French compared to the Germans
had a much harsher take on revolutions with the Canut revolts in 1831. The Canut revolts which took
place in the town of Lyons were a direct cause of the looming economic loss of silk and its price
drops. After the workers of Lyons unsuccessfully vouched for a minimum price of silk, the workers
revolted. The resulting revolt ending up with over 600 civilians and soldiers alike losing their life s,
and a tradition of revolutions in the town of Lyon with the next one accumulating in 1834, and one

Pamela Anderson s Use Of Sex Symbols In Advertising
Whereas men and women are both attracted to sex, leads back to the legendary saying sex sales .
While more men are attracted to big boobs, blonde hair and etc they are more than likely to be targeted
in this ad. For centuries, sex symbols have had control over the advertisement world. The most
common ones are Marylyn Monroe, who was a huge sex symbol in the 50 s, and Elizabeth Taylor in
40 s. The definition of a sex symbol is a person who is widely noted for their sexual attractiveness.
Sex symbols are used to sell almost anything in the advertisement industry. All throughout this add,
there were red flags that pandered more to the male sex or lesbians. This ad has a picture of Pamela
Anderson in a blue bikini, with her iconic enormous blonde hair. She was positioned in a pose where
her legs were propped up and she was sticking out her chest to draw attention to her boobs. The ad
also labeled her body parts, drawing further attention to her body. The whole point of the ad was to go
vegetarian, because eating an animal is like eating ourselves. I feel that this ad made use of standard
sex sales strategies by using Pamela Anderson, who is a well known sex symbol, due to settle debates
in class I felt the need to do a to ask fellow citizens if the ad was using the sex sales strategy , and the
perception of eating meat as masculine. Going vegetarian has nothing to do with a half naked women.

Religion and State have historically battled over value of importance. For centuries, laws have been
set forth to further the separation between the two. While good intentions were utilized in the creation
of these statutes, it is challenging to shift the mindset of civilians who have worshiped religion above
the state their entire lives. In the play, Antigone, Sophocles dramatizes the division between divine law
and human law. Antigone personifies religion and the law of the gods, while Creon exemplifies human
law. Inevitably, the disputes between the two ultimately result in the characters tragic fates. Sophocles
uses a variety of literary techniques to strengthen the theme and central conflict of religion versus law.
In Ancient Greek times, religion was known to play a direct and personal role in the lives of citizens.
The concept of the body in Greek culture was celebrated to meet the demands of the gods, and the
Ancient Greeks considered the physical body as something to be tended to. Without a proper burial, it
was understood that the body of the deceased would be doomed to wander the Underworld in an
eternal state of unrest. The importance of family, as stressed through religion, is exemplified when
Antigone becomes distraught over the fact that King Creon has outlawed the proper burial of her older
brother,

Kurt Cobain Theory
Kurt Cobain was found dead of an apparently self inflicted shotgun blast to the head. (Cross, 2014).
Cobain was at a raise during his time, he pushed limits into his music, creating a grunge style
influencing the fashion and music industry single handily. His band, Nirvana was the biggest and most
significant band of his generation in the early 90s. He was only 27 years old at the time of his death,
but the question is what lead the Nirvana rock star to suicide? Freud s psychodynamic theory of
personality states the importance of early childhood development, and it could be said that childhood
experiences could have possibly played a role in Cobain s suicide. On February 20, 1967, Cobain was
born to be the center attention of his family, he was the first child. At three years old his parents
birthed his younger sister, that s when things changed, and he didn t receive all the attention as he used
to. Around the age of nine his parent s marriage went downhill and divorced, because of this Cobain s
psychological development would become affected into his adolescent years. After the divorced
Cobain was never in a stable home, jumping from living with father to his grandparents, aunts, and

Literary Elements In A P
Life is always about making important decisions that could change your life completely. Like the story
A P, Sammy made a huge decision to quit his job due to his boss being rude to three young girls
wearing bathing suits. John Updike used several literary elements to make the story stand out and for
people to relate to Sammy. The most important elements that is used in this story is setting, point of
view, and characters. Firstly, setting plays a crucial part of the story because of where and when the
story takes place. This story takes place around the 1950 s in the United States near Boston. In the
story, it read It s not as if we re on the Cape; we re north of Boston and there s people in this town
haven t seen the ocean for twenty years. (Updike) This quote demonstrates of why the locals in the
town where so upset to see the three young girls wearing only their bathing suits in the supermarket.
This also takes place in a much older generation that is not okay with people walking around with
revealing clothing. That is why Sammy s boss, Lengel was so upset with the ... Show more content on

A P is in first person perspective and is portrayed by Sammy the nineteen year old cashier. You can

door, so I don t see them until they re over by the bread. (Updike) The way that Sammy is talking is
childish and someone that is in their thirties or older would not talk like that. John Updike made sure
to make Sammy of a mind of a nineteen year old. Another proof of that is I look around for my girls,
but they re gone, of course. There wasn t anybody but some young married screaming with her

The Pros And Cons Of Stay-At-Home Mom
Stay at home mothers are discriminated against in many ways. Stay at home mothers might be
considered lazy for choosing to stay at home and take care of their child instead of going back to work
immediately. Even if a mother is planning on going back to work after a while, she still isn t treated
the same as women without children. In Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom, Ashley Nelson argues
that taking time off of work after a woman has a child can be bad, women with children may earn less
pay, and mothers are less likely to be promoted. I agree with Nelson that taking time off work can be
bad, mothers may earn less pay, and mothers are less likely to be promoted because taking off of work
can cause women to get out of the routine of working full time and we may not be able to do our best
work as soon as we return.
Ashley Nelson s article, Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom, is about mothers and what they should
do about work when they have a child. Nelson argues that taking time off of work after a woman has a
child can cause her to not be offered the same jobs or benefits as a non mother or male. Labor
statistics show that while full time working women without children earn 7 percent less than their
male counterparts, women with children earn 23 percent less (Nelson 413). She also states that
mothers are less likely to be promoted than women without children. The sense is that employers,
consciously or not, demote mothers, assuming they cannot live up to the hours and demands of the
work place (Nelson 414). Nelson also argues that women should keep some kind of a job after having
children because they will be much more likely to get a new job or get their old job back with more
benefits, better hours, and better pay.
Nelson argues that taking a lot of time off of work after having a child can be bad. Nelson states that
even minor career breaks have dire economic consequences (413). This means that by leaving a
career, even for just a couple of years, can have bad consequences. I believe that Nelson is correct
because when women leave their job, they might have a hard time getting it back. Even though a
mother is leaving her job to take care of her child, she is still quitting her job. When someone

computers and mobile phones are fast growing. There will be a time when there would be at least a
computer and a phone in each house. Mode of communication have reached its peak position, initially
it was only talking to one person now we have conference calls. More than that is video calling facility
which is almost like taking to someone rite in front of you.
Mistakes proven
Machines are prone not to commit any mistakes like human do. Unlike humans they perform the same
job again and again on a regular basis with the same accuracy and the same rate of doing work. Once a
program is written the same thing can be used thousands of time as long as the machine works. Like
cutting large sheet plate was not possible by human but a small piece of code make the machines do it
perfectly as we need with accurate results. In other words anything given to a machine, any work that
we input there is no chance of committing any error, the job is done perfectly without any mistakes.

Environmental Effects Of Acid Rain And Its Effects On The...
The effects of acid rain greatly affect the environment. Some lakes become so acidic fish cannot
survive in them. The degradation of minerals present in soil produces metal ions. These are
subsequently washed away, causing the release of toxic substances, such as Al3+, into the water
supply. This also causes the loss of important minerals, such as Ca2+, from the soil, killing trees and
crops. Long term effects from global warming include landslides and increased seismic and volcanic
activities, due to land no longer being depressed by the weight of ice. Tsunamis could also be
generated, landslides caused by warmer ocean water thawing ocean floor permafrost or releasing gas
hydrates. Some world regions already show an increase in landslides, such as the French Alps.
Humphry Davy first successfully introduced the concept of a fuel cell in the 19th century. This was
followed by by the scientist Christian Friedrich Schönbein, who made work on what were to become
fuel cells in 1838. William Grove, a chemist, physicist and lawyer, widely known for basically
inventing the fuel cell in 1839. Grove conducted experiments with a gas voltaic battery, proving that
electrictricity could be produced from an electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen over
a platinum catalyst. With the 1970s came the emergence of environmental awareness amongst
governments, prompted by concerns over air pollution. From this, clean air legislation was passed in
America and Europe. Clean air and

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. Essay
This case involves the improperly represented earnings by Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. during the
fourth quarter of fiscal year (FY) 2003 and each quarter of FY 2004. The company used improper
accounting methods to avoid lowering its earnings during that period. Krispy Kreme also fraudulently
reported its earnings per share (EPS) throughout that time, which exceeded the previously stated EPS
by 1 percent. An agreement to settle the charges against Krispy Kreme was reached on March 4, 2009
when the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a cease and desist order.
The SEC cited Krispy Kreme for three round trip transactions, which involved the company paying
money to a franchise with an understanding that the franchise would later repay the money in a
planned method. This would allow Krispy Kreme to record extra pretax income in an amount that was
nearly equal to the money that was initially paid to the franchisee. The first transaction resulted in
additional net income of $365,000 after taxes. The second resulted in overstatement of $310,000 after
taxes, while the third resulted in an overstatement of $361,000 after taxes.
Further accounting anomalies were discovered during the testimony of a former sales manager at a
store in Ohio. A regional sales manager instructed that double orders would be sent out on the last
Friday and Saturday of FY 2004 to increase the sales of Krispy Kreme in the fiscal year to meet the
projections of Wall Street. The unneeded doughnuts

Greek Period Of Ancient Greece
The Greek periods were divided into the Geometric 900 700 BC, Archaic 600 480 BC, and Classical
480 400 BC periods. Greek sculptures were sometimes made in honor of their myths, gods, goddesses
or heroes. The Greeks had many art styles in ancient times. Each period of ancient Greece had a
distinct style to their sculptures. The Geometric, Archaic, and Classical periods all varied in their
styles of artwork. Greek sculptors from all three periods had a fair amount of influence for their
artworks. The philosophies of Ancient Greece also had an influence on how the sculptures were
designed. The Greeks also set the stage for many architectural innovations.
The Geometric period was 900 to 700 BC. A time of a great transformation that led to the founding of
primary Greek institutions. With the development of the Greek city states came the construction of
large temples and sanctuaries dedicated to patron deities, which signaled the rise of state religion.
Each city state identified with its own legendary hero or deity. By the end of the eighth century BC.,
the Greeks had created a number of major Pan Hellenic sanctuaries dedicated to the Olympian gods.
Evidence from the Geometric period has come down to us in the form of epic poetry, artistry, and
archaeological records. There are few archaeological remains that describe the skill of artwork during
this period. Monumental kraters, mostly used as grave markers, show funeral rites and heroic warriors.
The findings of fine metals

Argumentative Essay On Nuclear Energy
Nuclear energy has been used since 1895 to create weapons that could destroy men by the millions.
Scientists later transformed this destructive weapon into a new form of usable, renewable energy.
Nuclear energy is energy created by harnessing the energy produced by the nuclear reactions that take
place inside the nucleus of the Uranium Isotope 235, ( Nuclear Energy ). Nuclear energy is one
attempt to decrease the rate at which nonrenewable fossil fuels are being consumed. Some believe
nuclear energy to be an environmentally friendly and self sustaining way to produce energy; however,
there are a countless number of social and economically risks to consider; ultimately, the detrimental
effects power plant leaks and explosions have on the human body, the cost it takes to produce the
plants, and the production of nuclear waste, should be enough to persuade one to turn away from using
nuclear energy as a source of power.
The fear of a nuclear power plants is reasonable, considering there were thirty three accidents between
the 1950 s and early 2000 s, (McInnes, Colin). Multiple incidents jeopardized the health of employees
and near by citizens. Six of these incidents happened in the United States, five in Japan, and three in
the United Kingdom and Russia. Thirty five liters of highly enriched Uranium solution leaked during
transfer, in the United Kingdom; more than 100 workers were exposed to one hundred and fifty
millirems of radiation a day in Japan; reactors in

  • 3. Robert Frost Contributions Robert Frost is a rare twentieth century poet, that may be the most recognized name in poetry. He won the Pulitzer Prize a total of four times, which is more than any other poet. Some of his best work includes: The Road Not Taken , Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . Robert Frost was a literary legacy. When he was 87 years old, he was asked to write and recite a poem for President John F. Kennedys inauguration. During Robert Frosts lifetime, he received over 40 honorary degrees and of course his four Pulitzer Prizes. Robert Frosts life was reflected in his poetry in a variety of ways. Robert Frost was raised in New England, and many of his poems characters and settings are based in New England. Robert Frost was also greatly influenced by emotions and events in everyday life. He could take every day events such as: watching ice weigh down birch tree branches, the mowing of fields of hay or even the mending of stories on a wall and perceives a deeper meaning to love, hate, or conflict. These writing techniques lead to another reason as to why Robert Frost is so successful. Many of his poems, such as, Mending Wall and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening are inspired by the natural world. In 1897, Frost began studying at Harvard. This really helped Robert Frost become an intellectual and more of a serious poet. Unfortunately, after two years he had drop out of school. As stated by West, he is the most influential person in fashion in the last ten years . That statement very well may be true. West is always in the public eye showing off his new outfits. These outfits are then turned over to the masses where people take inspiration from them. Many people like to mimic and dress after their favorite celebrity but it seems West has started an empire of clothing, striking deals with A.P.C., Nike, and Adidas seemingly creating some type of sub genre to clothing called streetwear . West has been inspiring and influencing the way rappers and the regular population dress since the days he wore a bear on his shirt. This decision to do what s right versus what they want is affected by many different factors. One of the most important factors that can impact people s views on the balance of desire vs duty is major adversities people have faced. However adversities that alter people s philosophical views usually involve great tragedy commonly found at least once in every life. As a consequence, people often experience some form of philosophical shift in their life based on shifting ideals. Additionally this crushes the anti corruption crusader s ability to continue his old ways of fighting crime and being the city s White Knight as his own ethics are soon confused without a moral counter balance leaving him vulnerable to the winds of change looking for a reason why he survived. Additionally his first words at realising he was going to be saved over Rachel Harvey shouts No no no not me. Why are you coming for me . This demonstrates how his moral desires were torn apart leaving his ethical duty left without a counterbalance to serve against. Devastated this left him vulnerable as he looked for a new desire in life and was ready to sacrifice the now outdated ethics which had failed him earlier. While in this vulnerable state he is easily subjected to the new ideas that Joker uses to corrupt and redesign Harvey Dent s ethical codes. • 11. A Major Systemic Risk Issue On Wall Street With what started as one lender s possibility of going bankrupt soon began to look like a major systemic risk issue on Wall Street. United States Government Leaders were left with tough decisions. Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr had some of the toughest decisions to make during this time, make the lenders pay for the mistakes and go bankrupt or have the government assist them and provide them in order to stop what looked to be another great depression. Moral hazard, a situation in which a party is insulated from the consequences of its actions; thus protected, it has no incentive to behave differently, (Ahrens, 2008) was often the topic of discussion and reasoning behind his decisions for Paulson. Originally when the first lender Bear Sterns became in trouble the reaction from Treasurer Secretary Henry Paulson was to let them fail and deal with the outcome on their own. After further review of the dealings Bear Stern had with several other financial intuitions, it soon became clear that if this happened several other lenders would soon follow in bankruptcy. Henry Paulson and the United States Federal Government decided that this was something they could not let happened and stepped in. The United States government stepped in and was able to work out a deal with JP Morgan to buy out Bear Sterns, hoping to stop the systemic risks in other lenders on Wall Street. Triplicate groups of fish (initial body weight 2.30 g ± 0.01) were fed seven isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets formulated to contain 30 % crude protein and 19.70 kJ g 1 gross energy for 8 weeks. The control diet (CD) contained 22 % local FM and 30 % SBM, whereas in the other six diets, HFM replaced 33, 66 or 100 % of FM or SBM. The best weight gain (11.46), specific growth rate (3.14) and feed conversion ratio (1.24) of tilapia fry fed SBM33%, CD, FM33% and SBM66% diets were exhibited. Final body weight and protein retention increased in a linear pattern with increasing amino acids in the experimental diets with the exception of leucine and valine. The results indicated that good quality HFM can successfully replace FM or SBM by up to 33 and 66 %, respectively, in Nile tilapia fry diets without compromising growth and protein utilization. The results also support the benefits of combining different sources of plant and animal proteins in Nile tilapia diets. Keywords Hydrolyzed feather meal Fish meal Soybean meal ... Aviation infrastructure has expanded to include hundreds of airports and airlines around the world. Major expansion of one part may necessitate expansion of another. For example, adding new runways and increasing the number of airside operations will result in the need for new gates and more terminal waiting areas for passengers. Another problem often encountered in expansion is the lack of suitable land. Many airports are closely surrounded by urbanized areas, land that would be extremely expensive to acquire. In many metropolitan areas, a suitable tract of land might be distant from the city center, making ground access a problem. In selecting a distant site, several questions arise. If a new airport is a supplement to, rather than a substitute for, the existing airport, would passengers be willing to travel that far to use it? Would air carriers be willing to serve an airport that might attract fewer passengers than the old airport? These questions above need to be answered in order for funds to come easily and satisfaction of both the government and the public. This has become a major issue in today`s world of fast moving aviation. The following points help keep a check on airport development and initiate proper release of funds for the same. a) Drafting a sound financing strategy with realistic projects. b) Encouraging private investments and review public financing options. c) Understanding the new airport management concepts. d) Introducing the brand awareness concept in ... This should take up to five seconds and no longer than 10 seconds to locate the pulse. After you have completed this and concluded that there is no pulse you may begin compressions. This is where it gets tricky. You as the rescuer will position yourself at the victim s side. You must make sure the victim is lying with his torso facing up and his back on the floor. Also make sure he or she is on a flat surface, if not it will make everything that much more difficult. If you suspect that the victim has a head or neck injury, try to keep that part of their body in line with the rest of their body. Place the heel of one hand on the center of the victim s chest, towards the bottom half of the breast bone. After that place the heel of your other hand on top of the first. You must push hard and fast! If the victim is an adult/child the chest should be pushed down at least 2 inches. Make sure your arms stay straight as you compress down on the victim s breastbone. By the end of every compression make sure you allow the chest to come to a full recoil. This means you must allow the chest to re expand completely before pressing down again. The chest coming to a full recoil allows for blood to flow into the heart and is very important for blood flow. You have to get at least 100 beats per minute! The 2012 Crash Of Convair N153jr Essay The 2012 crash of Convair N153JR is a text book example of how human error and the absence of crew resource management can result in the unnecessary loss of life. This accident involves a transport company named Fresh Air Inc. that transported cargo between the Caribbean islands using vintage 1953 Convair aircraft. The co owner of the company, who was also the primary pilot, established and nurtured an environment of relaxed rules and desultory aviation operations. The primary pilot consistently flew the Convair aircraft outside its operational parameters by disabling key aircraft systems needed for safe operations. Additionally, the captain filled Fresh Air with incompetent personnel that could not maintain safe and airworthy operations. To further exacerbate an already dangerous situation, assigned Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) inspectors were derelict in their duties and performed only superficial inspections on the company. Numerous and serious violations were overlooked by the inspectors and this removed the last remaining barrier for accident prevention. The captain s insouciant approach to flying and company operations coupled with inept FAA oversight directly led to the crash of Convair N153JR. Accident Overview On March 15th 2012 at 7:35 a.m. Atlantic Standard Time (AST), a Convair 440 38 aircraft, identification number N153JR, lifted off from runway 10 at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, San Juan, Puerto Rico. These businesses can be divided into 3 categories; 1. Private 2. Public 3. The Voluntary/Third Sector e.g. Charities and Co Operatives. Public Sector Companies are predominately focused on providing the best service that budget allows to the communities or taxpayers. For example if the government run bus service in a remote area is not getting enough customers, the government may still continue this service as its main objective is to provide and not to maximise profits. On the other hand, if this service was run by a private sectors business, they may end it if they do not find it profitable, as their main priority is predominately to increase revenue. However, in recent years, the government has encouraged Public Sector Companies to focus on commercial targets, whilst at the same time meeting government targets. This is due to budget cuts and the reorganisation of government money as Public Companies are funded by the taxpayer, either directly e.g. council tax; or indirectly e.g. income tax distributed by the Government. • 31. The Dichotomy Of Freedom And Slavery Essay The dichotomy of freedom and slavery in rhetoric and rise of the United States of America has long been an enigma, a source of endless debate for scholars and citizens alike who wonder how a nation steeped in the ideals of republicanism could so easily subjugate and enslave an entire group of people. The Chesapeake region was home to America s great statesmen, men who espoused ideals of freedom and liberty from tyranny. Yet at the same time, these men held hundreds of men, women, and children in conditions of lifelong bondage. How then did this dichotomy arise? The dangers posed by indentured servants that became freemen resulted in the development of a system of African descended chattel slavery in the Chesapeake, a system whose creation and continuance was aided by a continuum of racial thinking and racial prejudice aimed at Africans in Virginia. From the outset, the issue of labor in the Chesapeake was a dominant force in the creation of colonial society. The origins of colonial labor rested on the shoulders of indentured servants, often unemployed laborers from England sent to the colony by the Virginia Company. After serving a term of seven years, each servant was then entitled to freedom and the opportunity to work in the colony to best achieve individual benefits and the success offered by the New World. The early generations of these servants turned freemen posed little problem to their former masters as they constituted to small a segment of the population to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everyone has been to at least one funeral, and it s very sad and at times uncomfortable. The awkward interactions with people saying sorry or the feeling of seeing the ones you love be in such pain. In the poem, Mid term Break , published in 1966, Seamus Heaney touches this subject in every aspect. In Mid term Break Heaney tells the story of a young man whose brother has died and he comes home to the funeral. As the boy enters his house he sees things that are now different after the death of his brother. Heaney s words and use of poetic devices draws a picture of the sad scene. In this poem Heaney writes about a death which is typical for many of his poems. James Persoon, a writer for The Facts On File Companion to British Poetry, 1900 to Present, writes that Heaney here draws on his own experience in having an adolescent speaker reflect on the death of his four year old brother, for the poet s brother, Christopher, was killed in a car accident at age four in 1953. (Persoon). Not only can one see that Heaney s emotions were put into this poem but also his own life experiences. Losing a family member is hard enough, and it is even harder when that person is young because no one will ever know the full potential that person could have had if they had not died. The language Heaney uses allows the reader to see the importance of the main character. It also shows the significance of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These citizens ensured a future for their countries by way of bloodshed and protest. The revolutions of the 1820 s and 1830 s in Germany started out with fraternities calling for the unification of the German speaking lands into the unified Germany. Cumulating with the festivals of both Wartburg and Hambach, 1815 and 1832 respectively. • 37. Divine Law Vs. Human Law English A, Literature ― HL Written Assignment Divine Law vs. Human Law West Islip High School Léna Seltzer 003996 0069 May 2017 1472 Words Religion and State have historically battled over value of importance. For centuries, laws have been set forth to further the separation between the two. While good intentions were utilized in the creation of these statutes, it is challenging to shift the mindset of civilians who have worshiped religion above the state their entire lives. In the play, Antigone, Sophocles dramatizes the division between divine law and human law. Antigone personifies religion and the law of the gods, while Creon exemplifies human law. Inevitably, the disputes between the two ultimately result in the characters tragic fates. Sophocles uses a variety of literary techniques to strengthen the theme and central conflict of religion versus law. In Ancient Greek times, religion was known to play a direct and personal role in the lives of citizens. The concept of the body in Greek culture was celebrated to meet the demands of the gods, and the Ancient Greeks considered the physical body as something to be tended to. Without a proper burial, it was understood that the body of the deceased would be doomed to wander the Underworld in an eternal state of unrest. The importance of family, as stressed through religion, is exemplified when Antigone becomes distraught over the fact that King Creon has outlawed the proper burial of her older brother, ... The most important elements that is used in this story is setting, point of view, and characters. Firstly, setting plays a crucial part of the story because of where and when the story takes place. This story takes place around the 1950 s in the United States near Boston. In the story, it read It s not as if we re on the Cape; we re north of Boston and there s people in this town haven t seen the ocean for twenty years. • 40. The Pros And Cons Of Stay-At-Home Mom Stay at home mothers are discriminated against in many ways. Stay at home mothers might be considered lazy for choosing to stay at home and take care of their child instead of going back to work immediately. Even if a mother is planning on going back to work after a while, she still isn t treated the same as women without children. In Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom, Ashley Nelson argues that taking time off of work after a woman has a child can be bad, women with children may earn less pay, and mothers are less likely to be promoted. I agree with Nelson that taking time off work can be bad, mothers may earn less pay, and mothers are less likely to be promoted because taking off of work can cause women to get out of the routine of working full time and we may not be able to do our best work as soon as we return. Ashley Nelson s article, Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom, is about mothers and what they should do about work when they have a child. Nelson argues that taking time off of work after a woman has a child can cause her to not be offered the same jobs or benefits as a non mother or male. Labor statistics show that while full time working women without children earn 7 percent less than their male counterparts, women with children earn 23 percent less (Nelson 413). She also states that mothers are less likely to be promoted than women without children. The sense is that employers, consciously or not, demote mothers, assuming they cannot live up to the hours and demands of the work place (Nelson 414). Nelson also argues that women should keep some kind of a job after having children because they will be much more likely to get a new job or get their old job back with more benefits, better hours, and better pay. Nelson argues that taking a lot of time off of work after having a child can be bad. Nelson states that even minor career breaks have dire economic consequences (413). This means that by leaving a career, even for just a couple of years, can have bad consequences. I believe that Nelson is correct because when women leave their job, they might have a hard time getting it back. Even though a mother is leaving her job to take care of her child, she is still quitting her job. When someone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The degradation of minerals present in soil produces metal ions. These are subsequently washed away, causing the release of toxic substances, such as Al3+, into the water supply. This also causes the loss of important minerals, such as Ca2+, from the soil, killing trees and crops. Essay This case involves the improperly represented earnings by Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. during the fourth quarter of fiscal year (FY) 2003 and each quarter of FY 2004. The company used improper accounting methods to avoid lowering its earnings during that period. Krispy Kreme also fraudulently reported its earnings per share (EPS) throughout that time, which exceeded the previously stated EPS by 1 percent. An agreement to settle the charges against Krispy Kreme was reached on March 4, 2009 when the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a cease and desist order. The SEC cited Krispy Kreme for three round trip transactions, which involved the company paying money to a franchise with an understanding that the franchise would later repay the money in a planned method. This would allow Krispy Kreme to record extra pretax income in an amount that was nearly equal to the money that was initially paid to the franchisee. The first transaction resulted in additional net income of $365,000 after taxes. The second resulted in overstatement of $310,000 after taxes, while the third resulted in an overstatement of $361,000 after taxes. Further accounting anomalies were discovered during the testimony of a former sales manager at a store in Ohio. A regional sales manager instructed that double orders would be sent out on the last Friday and Saturday of FY 2004 to increase the sales of Krispy Kreme in the fiscal year to meet the projections of Wall Street. • 47. Argumentative Essay On Nuclear Energy Nuclear energy has been used since 1895 to create weapons that could destroy men by the millions. Scientists later transformed this destructive weapon into a new form of usable, renewable energy. Nuclear energy is energy created by harnessing the energy produced by the nuclear reactions that take place inside the nucleus of the Uranium Isotope 235, ( Nuclear Energy ). Nuclear energy is one attempt to decrease the rate at which nonrenewable fossil fuels are being consumed. Some believe nuclear energy to be an environmentally friendly and self sustaining way to produce energy; however, there are a countless number of social and economically risks to consider; ultimately, the detrimental effects power plant leaks and explosions have on the human body, the cost it takes to produce the plants, and the production of nuclear waste, should be enough to persuade one to turn away from using nuclear energy as a source of power. The fear of a nuclear power plants is reasonable, considering there were thirty three accidents between the 1950 s and early 2000 s, (McInnes, Colin).
