Analysis of Customer Service Management
The experiment uses a hair salon sample survey to gain a deeper understanding of customer service. A
thorough interpretation of the data set separating close and distant relationships provides insight into
the problem of customer dissatisfaction in regards to employer/consumer relationships. The data is
organized into several columns and separated by response. Respondents who are close are identified
as 1 , while respondents who are distant are represented with 1 . There are ratings from one to seven
based on the following factors: consider new , cut again , remain loyal , recommend , straightforward ,
open , don t want to know , wants feedback , honest , truthful , can t tell , needs repair , fix relationship
, guilty , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Expectations are referenced five times within the case, with comments such as ...I did not expect this
from you or in regards to acting on expectations such as ...expect a better cut next time. Otherwise, I
will be looking for a new stylists. When customers financially invest in a service and their needs are
not met, they often feel like their payment was wasted. One client states that I am paying you to
perform a service and I have not received the services I expected. These references to financial
disappointment usually end in a request to speak with a manager, money back, or refusal to pay. Pay
and money were both mentioned six different times. Relationship plays an important role in the B2C
service industry. How clients relate to employers plays a vital role in the success of the company. In
this experiment, several customers express some type of concern with the emotional state of the
employer as a way to justify or understand the cause of the poor service. For example, some customers
ask, Are you having a bad day? , if everything is OK, or if there is something bothering the employer.
Clients cite friendliness seven times in their comments, indicating a desire to treat the employer with
kindness.

The Overlooked Area Of Poverty Essay
The overlooked area
Looking at the MDGs as the whole, poverty reduction was the central theme in the development
agenda; it was aimed to cut in half proportion of the population living below $1 a day from around 30
percent of the developing countries by 2015 (United Nations, 2005). Even though these targets have
been almost achieved; it was predicted that there are about 825 million of citizen still live in extreme
poverty and 800 million still suffer from inadequate hunger (FAO, 2015). Thus, fighting against
poverty and hunger remains the enormous challenge. Then, an inevitable question arises as to whether
the persistence of poverty was well defined. FAO (2015) also have noticed that extreme poverty
mainly occurs in rural areas where the majority of poor people depend on agriculture. The condition of
relying on agriculture means that primary source of food and income for those poor people come from
agriculture that they have made. Unfortunately, agriculture was not prioritized at the goal and target
levels. Agriculture was mentioned at the indicator level under target three of goal eight (Develop a
Global Partnership for Development). It was set to measure market access, which was seen as a huge
gap that agriculture was overlooked in the MDGs.
The relevance of agriculture to other goals
Relooking at the connection between agriculture and each of the goal is considered as a reflective
process for better implications in the next goal development. For goal 1, Eradicate

A Study For Public Key Digital Signature Schemes
Abstract: In this proposed paper a study for public key digital signature schemes that based on
different mathematical NP hard problems. That problems influence in performance and reliability of
digital signature schemes. In this paper we make a survey on mathematical NP hard problems of
digital signature schemes and present the powerful and practical of some schemes depending on its
security level.
Introduction:
Digital signature is a verification mechanism based on the public key scheme, and it provides:
Data integrity (the assurance that data has not been changed by an unauthorized party).
Authentication (the assurance that the source of data is as claimed).
Non repudiation (the assurance that an entity cannot deny commitments). Generally, every public key
digital signature schemes is based on a mathematical problem. This problem is known as NP (Non
deterministic polynomial) hard problem. The problem is considered to be an NP hard mathematical
problem if the validity of a proposed solution can be checked only in polynomial time. Basically,
public key digital signature schemes are successfully classified into many major types depending on
the NP mathematical hard problem. These problems are the integer factorization problem (IFP), the
discrete logarithm problem (DLP), the Elliptic Curve discrete logarithm problem (ECDLP), the
chaotic maps hard problem In the present e commerce and e government era, digital signatures have
become more and more important

In J.D. Salinger’s “Nine Stories”, there are two stories...
In J.D. Salinger s Nine Stories , there are two stories that indicate a death, and, remarkably, these two
short stories are what begin and end this captivating piece of literature. The first story is called A
Perfect Day for Bananafish and introduces a man who has been through the hell of World War II,
which allows him to see things from a different perspective. The latter is called Teddy and revolves
around a young, ingenious boy that seems to have a speculative mindset and very deep insight into
life. In both stories the reader is introduced to a genius , but the geniuses, with all the potentials at
hand, end up going mad and killing themselves. However, this proves to be Salinger s point. It
demonstrates a fine line that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Seymour takes his own life, we backtrack to his story and he is then seen as a celestial figure,
ahead of his time and full of wisdom. Metaphorically speaking, the bananafish ideology depicts
humanity in the postwar boom generation, where riches surround all people. However, amidst all the
possessions, we cannot help ourselves and we continuously and relentlessly consume, regardless of
what may happen as a result. We are each trapped in our own banana filled hole, in which Seymour
ultimately escapes from through his death.
In the final short story Teddy , the main character is a ten year old boy who is as intuitive and
intelligent as any character gets in this novel, with the exception of Seymour of course. Like Seymour
Glass, Teddy sees the world differently than his peers. The two tend to focus their a lot of their
attention on small details, such as orange peels, the colour of bathing suits, a woman that seemingly
looks at Seymour s feet, and appear to mirror a larger scale vision of humanity. Teddy s orange peels
recall Seymour s bananafish. Both their objects, in Seymour s case an imaginary one, are somewhat
allegorical in a sense that they seem to suggest a philosophical portrayal of humanity. To clarify,
Teddy first notices the orange peels floating and finds them interesting. The remnants of what was
once a living fruit, now floating, lifeless on the dark water. Later on he notes that, if he had not seen
the orange peels, he would

Dr. Gonzales And The Supervision Of Raymond Gonzales
Introduction:
I currently work for the company Jimmy John s under the supervision of Raymond Gonzales. When
given this assignment, I spoke to Mr. Gonzales to see if he had any personal inquiries about the day to
day operations of Jimmy Johns. Mr. Gonzales spoke to me about how he has always been curious to
know why the employee turnover rate is so high. The store I currently work at has many veteran
workers who have been there for over a year. Then again, in my short six months working in the
company I have seen first hand people come and go rapidly. I agreed that the employee turnover rate
is high and decided to investigate.
Before surveying the employees I wanted them to feel safe and comfortable telling me the truth. I

Then $188,000 in sales and $50,000 in profits the next year. In May of 1986 Jimmy John was able to
buy his father out of the business (Liautaud, November 2016). With profits in his favor, Jimmy John
decided to start franchising. This year, Jimmy John s stores are projected for annual sales of $1.2
million and $280,000 in average net profits (CNN, 2011). In the first 10 year 10 stores were open.
From the years of 1994 2002 Jimmy John grew by 150 franchises. In that time period 121 loans were
taken out in the name of Jimmy John s, and only 2 failed. This gives a loan failure rate of 1.7% for the
company as a whole. In 2002 Jimmy John discovered that 70 of his 160 stores were failing. At that
time he stopped selling franchises and teamed with his president to turn around the 70 failing stores.
He soon found out that the stores were not following the systems that Jimmy John had set in place
himself. He observed that some of the stores were not committed to the restaurant lifestyle of long
days and even longer nights. Jimmy John committed 18 months to working with the failing stores.
After that time period the decision was made that 7 of the failing stores could not be saved and that
shutting down would be the best option. Jimmy John Liautaud is very honest when it comes to the
runnings of a business.
In 2014 Jimmy John s got some negative press. They initiated new policies stating that employees

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Appeasement
Appeasement The bigger the stage, the riskier it gets
Appeasement , can be seen at work in our daily lives, both at individual and group levels. At an
individual level, it is often witnessed within families and at places of work. At a group level,
appeasement of communities, sects, counties, countries, etc. is an omnipresent reality of today s
world. While most such acts are targeted at calming down a seemingly volatile situation, the majority
of them do not aim to benefit all the parties involved i.e. the appeased party, the appeasing party or the
appeaser and the third parties affected by the agreement between the former two but not directly
involved themselves. The end result of a carefully orchestrated appeasement with a positive intent ...

is a much debated issue across the globe. In our own country, the continuous appeasement of
minorities or backward communities for vote bank politics has gradually established itself as a deep
rooted cancer in our society. Every couple of years, a backward group rises above the rest of the
groups and holds the country for ransom to gain reservations in educational institutes and government
jobs. There are widespread killings, looting and arson until the central government bends to the unjust
demands of the protesting community and surrenders. Unfortunately, this becomes a vicious cycle and
emboldens other people with a common grouse to demand reservations, statehood, favours, etc. The
appeaser i.e. the government remains a spectator for most of the period but eventually ends up on the
losing side whereas the appeased party i.e. the protesting group usually ends up on the winning side.
However, the biggest losers are the rest of the people (third party) who have nothing to do with the
issue. Badly hit road and train travel, exorbitantly costly air travel, electricity / water crisis,
postponement of exams / interviews, collateral damage in terms of killings and loss of income, etc. are
few of the problems that people face due to the standoff between the government and the protesters.
Appeasement in such cases creates unsettling, volatile calm cycles of unrest and peace. It

The American Holocaust And American Americans
The American Holocaust has had a major effect on the Native American people, and changed their
lives forever. It all begins with the European and Spanish invasion of North America. The European
people brought over dieses that the Native American were not exposed too and it caused deaths with in
their groups. Also the Europeans brought over more advanced weapons and were able to take over the
Native Americans, and this lead to the American Holocaust and shows the effect on the Native
American people. These historical events have been used in many Native American stories, and a
person is able to see the connections. The American Holocaust was a time that was damaging for the
Native American people. It was a time that dealt with the invasion of the Spanish and European
people. One aspect that made it a damaging time for the Native Americans, was the lack of weapons
that they had compared to the advanced technology of their enemy s. Columbus responded with
several hundred armed troops, Calvary, and a score or more of trained attack dogs (Stannard P.
13).This shows the amount of power and money that Columbus had behind him. He was able to get
what he needed to win his battles, with either swords or armor, or more attack dogs and more warriors.
One of the first discoveries of North American from Europeans was with Columbus. For America s
history, it more widely recognized Columbus, as opposed to the Native American people. This is
because the Spanish and Europeans weren t

Australia s Involvement In The Vietnam War
The Cold War era (1945 1989) was conflicted with the dominance of, overall, the two superpowers,
the U.S.S.R and the U.S, with political and social ideology taking centre stage. Australia s
involvement during this time, was paramount and reinstated its long term allegiance with the United
States when entering South Vietnam. After WWII had finished, the Soviet Union showed aggression
towards the U.S as the competition for world superiority began, and led to the capitalist/democratic
nations particularly aligned with the United States fearing the spread of communism. Countries
including Australia signed treaties and agreements to stop this regime and the only resolution, in the

How Stories Came To Earth, And How Stories Came To Earth
Imagine a world without stories, nothing to read, nothing to learn, and right now you know nothing. In
the story How Stories Came to Earth that was exactly their problem. A long time ago there were no
stories on earth for anyone to tell before the First Spider, Kwaku Anansi came along and spread them
through his webs. Both How Stories Came to Earth and Master Cat are trickster tales, In mythology,
and in the study of folklore and religion, a trickster is a character in a story, which exhibits a great
degree of intellect or secret knowledge, and uses it to play tricks or otherwise disobey normal rules
and conventional behaviour. Between How Stories Came to Earth and Master Cat there are more
differences than similarities.
There are many differences between How Stories Came to Earth and Master Cat . The first difference
is what they re achieving is beneficial or not beneficial to society. For example, in How Stories Came
to Earth, Anansi s goal was to achieve the stories from the sky god, Nyame. Anansi went through a
series of challenges with the help of his wife, Aso, but eventually achieved the goal of getting the
stories, it says in the story, And so, child, stories came to Earth because of the great cunning of Kwaku
Anansi, and his wife, Aso.....Everywhere you look, they spin their webs for all to see. Benefiting
society by giving knowledge to everyone. While Master cat is only benefiting himself and his master,

Beowulf Heroic Qualities
Beowulf, the hero of the epic Beowulf, was a great king and leader, from youth to his declining years.
He displays his heroism in three separate conflicts, which take place in two different phases of his life.
Despite these challenging tasks, Beowulf exhibits unique heroic qualities throughout his youth and
declining years that make him a great king and leader of the Geats. Since his youth as a great warrior
lasts so long, the epic portrays Beowulf in three different feats of strength and courage. His first feat
was in his swimming match with Breca. Unferth, jealous of Beowulf s popularity with his fellow
Danes, brings up Beowulf s loss in a swimming match to Breca. Unferth states that Beowulf will face
defeat against Grendel once again as no one has ever outlasted an entire night against Grendel. (37)
Beowulf replies that he lost the swimming match against Breca because he was interrupted by the sea
beasts. He was swimming shoulder to shoulder... for five nights (37) with Breca but landed on the
coast of Finland later than Breca because he had to slay nine sea monsters when he got pulled down.
He mocks Unferth afterwards, saying that Unferth or Breca would both be unable to protect
themselves against the sea monsters. Beowulf s second great feat was mortally wounding Grendel.
The Danes were scared from the terror and murder that Grendel had inflicted on them. Beowulf, with
a confident persona, waits and grabs Grendel harder than anything he had ever encountered in any

How American History Is Constantly Challenged By African...
How Americans romanticize their history is constantly challenged by African American artist Kara
Walker. Her controversial work has broken huge boundaries of race, gender, power and violence. But
Walker s art never had the intention of pleasing viewers or answering easy questions. Winning the
John.D and Catherine T. Mac Arthur Foundations genius grant at only twenty seven years old, Walkers
art has taunted Americans to recognize the legacy that slavery has left behind.
A move to Atlanta, Georgia in Walkers adolescence exposed her to the southern bigotry that inspired
her art in later years. However, only when she had completed her Masters of Fine arts in Rhode Island,
did she introduce themes of race into her work. On the entry of her first major work in 1994, she says
that much of her art work was exploring ...the problematics of making art as a young black woman
when constantly barraged and faced with a bunch of stereotypes about what it even means... (MoMA,
Kara Walker). Kara Walkers art demonstrates that the racism seen a century ago is still present in
American society today. The stereotype used frequently is the negress or black mistress, often over
sexualised and portrayed as a sex toy. Walker believes Western culture has created this specific
representation of what it means to be black. Her work as a solo artist has been displayed in the San
Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and internationally

Music In Cannery Row Analysis
The Importance of Music in Cannery Row
The novel is able to share how music is of great importance and is able to affect people s moods and
thoughts.
One of the things that Cannery Row highlights t readers is music. Steinbeck mentions music in the
novel numerous times. Music is important in the novel because it is able to show the affects and
moods the people are in and also able to help describe the events that is going on. For instance, by
describing the character Doc, Steinbeck adds how music is of great importance to Doc by explaining
the laboratory. Steinbeck mentions that a great phonograph stands against the wall with hundreds of
records lined up besides it. (27) The author did not have to say anything about the phonograph being

I made note of the different characters and how music effected them, for instance with Frankie. He
liked how he felt when there was parties and music playing. However, even though I was able to
acknowledge other characters and the importance of music to them. Somehow, the examples and the
scenes always seemed to be more so with Doc. The music emphasized how Doc was feeling and the
impact it had on his mood. Steinbeck was able to allow the readers to get an idea and a mental visual
of the scene that was occurring. Like when he was on the beach, after seeing the dead girl. I could
almost hear the surf and feel the breeze that was being explained, along with the sad music playing. In
my opinion, I believe that Steinbeck was able to incorporate how music is able to correspond with
individual s thoughts and feelings. Simply by when he stated that Doc hit Mack because of the
destruction in his laboratory, then briefly felt bad for doing it. Steinbeck is able to captivate Doc s
feelings with the song choice he gave Hor ch el Ciel e la Terra by Monteverdi.
Even though Cannery Row s plot can be quite trying at times, I believe that John Steinbeck was able
to give almost a poetic and artistry gesture to the novel. By adding the different music types and
connecting it with different ventures in the novel. The many descriptions that Steinbeck was able to
give was beautiful and had a way to pull his readers into the scenes. Not only was he able to give us
this he was also, in my opinion, able to give many examples on exactly how music is able to reflect
individuals moods and

Analysis Of Hair Spray The Choreographer And Director
Dance can show us a variation of things whether it is a story plot or retelling history events. Dance
becomes an art when done with passion and enthusiasm. The audience can connect and respond with
the dancer if done properly. When we use dancing in a story line musical we are attempting to give the
audience a deeper understanding. As every story every musical has a moral to the story or main idea.
In the movie hair spray the choreographer and director do a great job explaining not only the history
of dance but also a main historic fact. With the classic musical style story the director is able to
introduce a part of history in a fun exciting way through dance and music. The story tells us many
different things as well as shows us how dance can bring people from different ethnicities and color
together. We can deeply connect with the story if we can understand and experience with story line.
The story begins with a girl by the name of Tracy who is crazy about singing and dancing the, new
groove . She is different then the rest in many ways but pursues her dream as a dancer without
allowing anything to stop her. She shows her enthusiasm for dancing and singing from the beginning
of the movie to the end. The story shows us a part of the 60s when segregation was in place. Whites
and people of color where not often seen together. They were unable to live in the same
neighborhoods or share the same friends, stores, and buses. At this time in history dance was very

Cinematic Techniques Used In King Kong Film
The 1933 film King Kong directed by Carl Denham came out during the Victorian era of the
exploration of exotic lands. This film is cinema s most famous monster movie . Cinematography
contributes to this films theme of otherness and sympathy, shallow focus, tight framing, and confined
movement. Also, the sound within this film emphasizes what the audience/viewer should pay attention
to. The importance of sound within this film was critical as it created this effect that was developed
through the transformation from the silent era. Thus, through these special effects of cinematography
and sound creates a sympathetic gesture of the monster in which the audience feels sympathy to the
monster throughout this entire film. Kong may appear as this scary, giant monster, however, he does ...

Cinematography is a motion picture photography, which provides a diversity of experience in the
definition of artificial imagery and movement through landscape (Earl 181). Therefore,
cinematography is a continuous image between cuts. This particular technique offers a range of
options for representing, creating and understanding a cinematic point of view, which is shown
strongly within this 1933 film. As Ray Morton indicates in his book on King Kong that the
cinematography [in this film] is highly atmospheric [as it is] perfectly capturing the despair of the
depression era in New York, the nightmarish spectacle of the sacrifice scene, and the eerie beauty of
the mist covered prehistoric tableaus (Morton 80). Therefore, through cinematography it does create a
sympathetic monster. Thus, through these cinematic scenes, King Kong does show a well
cinematography approach as the camera is guiding the audience/viewers attention to present certain
things to the audience/viewers gaze. Also the camera

Global Supply Chain Management Simulation Essay
Summary of Global Supply Chain Management Simulation I enjoyed the Global Supply Chain
Management Simulation (GSCM). It was exciting to be a Manager of the supply chain of a mobile
phone manufacturer. I learned very quickly the pressures of running such a large operation. In this
review, I will discuss lessons learned regarding conceptions shown in the simulation. I will explain
how if completing the simulation again, what I would complete differently. In conclusion, I will talk
about my key overall takeaways from this exercise.
Year One
In Year 1 while in the Design room, I chose the Wifi and Stylish options. My intuitive thoughts were
consumer based and not supplier driven. However, these combined options offered an estimated
favorable profit for the company. While forecasting I chose to forecast below average for Model A and
above average for Model B. Again, my decision making was consumer driven and I as a consumer
would prefer a stylish mobile device over a base model, therefore estimated demand at a higher level.
In choosing suppliers in Year 1, key drivers were lead times, setup and unit carrying costs, and
capacity. The decision were also based off of my forecast for each model. I learned quickly as each
month passed, I was out of inventory therefore, making a costly $2.0MM adjustment with one of my
suppliers. In this scenario, if running the simulation again I would better match the supplier with the
forecasted demand.
Year Two In Year 2, I was advised not to

Under Pressure, Dubai Drops Port Deal Essay

Under Pressure, Dubai Drops Port Deal The Dubai Port World controversy began in February 2006
and rose to prominence as a national security debate in the United States. At issue was the sale of port
management businesses in six major U.S. seaports to a company based in the United Arab Emirates,
and whether such a sale would compromise port security. The controversy pertained to management
contracts of six major United States ports. The purchaser was DP World, a state owned company in the
U.A.E. The contracts had already been foreign owned, by Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation
Company (P O), a British firm taken over by DPW, completed in March 2006. Although ... Show more

First, these ports are strategic for the country, and it is better to be managed by the US Company.
Second, more US citizens will be employed. Finally, the most important factor is security. The country
will be safer when these ports are managed by Americans. The safety of the country and support of
domestic companies could have influence on the reversal of the ports deal. The US public concerns
did not have big influence on a business decision made by a Dubai company. More influence had the
political pressure. However, public concern also played its role in this case. For example, people s
opinion was that foreign states, especially those related to terrorism in the past, could not be trusted
with strategic American assets. Also, they thought that foreign countries should not have managerial
responsibilities over ports due to divided loyalties and concerns over national independence.
Accordingly, all these public opinions were reflected and expressed by the politicians whose pressure
constrained Dubai Company to withdraw. Thinking that transportation takes place through a global
network of companies is slightly incorrect. Ports are vulnerable to the entry of terrorists or illicit
weapons because of the large number of containers that enter U.S. territory. Accordingly, no foreign
government should be permitted to own such strategic assets. There are many business assets that can

An Age Old Southern Controversy
The Civil War began in the 1860 s and was one of the most important events in southern and U.S.
history. In the south one of the major symbols of the war was the confederate flag. For me personally
since I am from South Carolina I have found that there are two separate views on the flag which
would be the supporting and opposing sides. The supporting side is said to be majority of white
southerners and the opposing side is said to be majority of black southerners and white northerners

their First Amendment rights, which is their freedom of speech. The Black citizens felt like they did
not have a say on the flag being up on state grounds (Forman). The opposing side of the flag did not
like it up so much that in the early 2000 s there was a boycott against the state of South Carolina due
to the fact the flag was still up. This boycott cost the state $7 million dollars in revenue lost (Allen).
The rebels were fighting for territory, for economic control, and obviously for slavery. The
Confederate flag has been used throughout this century as a symbol by the Klan, skinheads, and other
white supremacists opposed to black demands for equality and constitutional protection (Forman). In
my personal understanding of what Forman, Webster, and Leib believe is that everyone who supports

Technology Opportunities in The Trucking Industry
This paper is written to inform you about three technology opportunities that will make a positive
impact on transportation. These opportunities will lead to more efficient transportation now and in the
future. The first technological opportunity discussed is Truck Design; the design of the truck can make
a difference in fuel cost. The second technological opportunity discussed is a Speed Governor System;
this is a device in trucks that restricts the speed it can travel. The final technological opportunity
discussed is the use of cloud computing; this is where information and software is shared on multiple
devices. By the end of this paper you will know what great things can come out of these three new
technologies and how they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new inventive designs of vehicles to make them more fuel efficient gives the industry a chance to
lower prices because of a lower profit margin and that gives them the opportunity to be more price
competitive. Providing better prices for services than other companies who do the same thing will
bring in a lot more business to the company. More business is an opportunity to expand operations and
invest in even more ways to save money and expand the company.
With the inclusion of speed governors on trucks, trucking will be more gas efficient and safer. Gas
efficiency will lead to great savings on fuel that will cut the cost of transportation. Speed governors
are devices that put a limit on how fast a vehicle can go. The reduction of speed has big effects on fuel
efficiency, It s a fact that slowing a truck down by 10 miles per hour reduces fuel consumed by 15
percent (Graham, 2011). Fuel efficiency is not the only thing that comes from the use of speed
governors; the trucks are safer, the equipment (such as tires and brakes) last longer, and the liability
cost is lower (Road Safe America, 2009). With the placement of Governors on trucking vehicles,
drivers will not be able to speed up past the pre set miles per hour by the trucking company.
The Governor leads to trucking companies to be able to lower

Catch 22 Psychology
Psychology in Catch 22 Catch 22 is a black comedy novel about death, about what people do when
faced with the daily likelihood of annihilation. For the most part what they do is try to survive in any
way they can. The book begins, The island of Pianosa lies in the Mediterranean Sea eight miles south
of Elba. That is the geographical location of the action. Much of the emotional plot of the book turns
on the question of who s crazy, and I suggest that it is illuminating to look at its world in Kleinian

career terms is maintained at the expense of the literal survival of the officers and enlisted men who lie
below them in the military hierarchy. The hierarchy includes General Dreedle, who is astonished to

Special Services, who cares only for bureaucratic power in the table of organisation and thinks it
eminently rational that combat operations should come under his

The fall of the once might soviet union was as a result unwarranted succession of events. There is a

assertion.
Dismantling of the Soviet Union
The Soviet Union was one of the three strongest nations in the world. Between 1964 and 1982, the
Soviet Union competed militarily with the world s best. The Soviet Union and its system appeared
impervious to rudimentary change especially when Politburo was headed by Leonid Brezhenev. It was
almost impossible even for the most disaffected nationalities like Baltic people of Estonia, Lithuania,

a declaration nullifying its existence forthwith.

After consulting, the coach found out his reasoning being, when he played as a child, they did not
have all the gear to entirely be safe and this worried the dad that the same thing would happen to his

sportsmanship, hard work, discipline, and teamwork, parents should take the risk and let their kids
play the game.
By participating in football people can learn sportsmanship, hard work, discipline, and teamwork.
Considering the many lessons it teaches, teamwork and discipline play the main role. With teamwork,
players/children are learning how to trust their teammates the more experience they have with each
other. As for discipline, it teaches kids to work hard and set good goals which can be helpful for them
in the future as opposed to not playing, and being a step behind. NFL expert Jobe Lewis says that
football requires a pretty unique brand of teamwork and requires the player to discipline himself and
to work hard (Lewis 1).

Whenever a devise, conveyance, assignment, or other transfer of property, including a beneficial

2003), the Appellate Court held that evidence supported a finding that a husband s sole intent in
transferring residence into tenancy by the entirety was to avoid paying debts existing at time of
transfer. In LaSalle Bank, the appellate court affirmed a judgment against the husband in September 3,
1999. Id. at 281. The husband transferred the property from him and his wife in joint tenancy to a
tenancy by the entirety on September 20, 1999. Id.
The Appellate Court reasoned that the Trial Court s finding that the husband transferred the property
to tenancy by the entirety solely to avoid a judgment creditor was not against the manifest weight of
the evidence because 1) the husband owned less than $4,000 of assets at the time he transferred the
property into tenancy by the entirety,
2) the husband didn t make the transfer around 1998 when he was advised to do so by a family
attorney in order to protect the estate and make the transfer easier upon his death, since his assets were
tied up in the business,
3) the husband did not own the residence individually or as a tenant in common with his wife, in
which case there may have been a legitimate reason to transfer the property to tenancy by the entirety
other than to avoid a judgment debt.
3) the husband made the transfer to tenancy by the entirety at a time when to not make such a transfer
would have rendered him insolvent, and

Chimney 101 Research Paper
Chimney 101: Why Your House Has One of Those
When you look at your roof, you may see some open pipes sticking out of it. What are these pipes and
why are they there? Some people call these chimneys, but it would be more technically correct to call
them vents or exhausts. In general, there are three types of chimneys that you can have on your roof.
Brick and Mortar Chimneys
The first is the standard chimney that goes to your fireplace. They are usually made of brick, stone, or
some other fire resistant material. Its purpose of course, is to give the smoke from the fire somewhere
to go. However, this chimney is much more than just a simple tunnel to the outside. There is a part in
the chimney that actively works to keep carbon dioxide from

The 6 Principles Of Persuasion
Define and discuss the 6 principles of persuasion.
SIX PRINCIPLES OF PERSUASION
1 PRINCIPLE OF RECIPROCITY
This principle is born out of societal norm and culture. It is a principle whereby people do things for
you in expectation that you will do something for them. What they expected you to do might just be
verbal or physical action. For instance, when you walk into a shop to buy something, and the shop
attendant goes out his/her way to research for information to enable you understand the product or
service better. You can really see that the shop attendant was not showing any sign of being busy,
rather he was even the one suggesting more things that will lead to her making more research.
Of course, he expects you to patronize them after putting him through all the stress looking for more
information. Otherwise all his efforts and time would have been in futility.
2 PRINCIPLE OF SCARCITY.
In this situation, the salesperson or sales letter try to create an artificial scarcity based on a discount, or
based on the limited quantity available for supply. For instance, a company sent a sales letter that first
of all showed all the benefit I stand to gain on a package that is worth $29,000, but they can sell the
package on promotion for $5,000 if I buy before 31st December, 2015. In other words, it is a scarcity
based on time and season.
3 PRINCIPLE OF AUTHORITY
This principle bother on how much you know about the product. If you have to exercise the

The Wonderful Bedroom
Have you ever wondered how something so simple as your bedroom could have so much meaning?
How a place where one usually just sleeps and doesn t return until the next night, could be so special

gym does to a basketball player or as much as a tree does to a monkey. But then there are also those
who still think of their bedroom as just a place to sleep and prepare themselves. I guess things have
different meanings for each person, but for many including myself, their bedroom ranks near the top
of the list. A bedroom is meaningful because often it is where one grows up, where lots of time is

And what could possibly be a more relaxing place than your own room? It s amazing how one can
concentrate so well in their room, unlike a college student who may have trouble trying to focus
through all of the distractions.
Not only is the bedroom a perfect place to sleep and study, but what if you just want to get away and
relax? In your room, you get to control things for yourself, such as the temperature. It s not like
outside where you can t do anything about the weather, but rather, you choose how cool or warm you
want it. You get to make your bed as comfortable as you wish. This is your space, it s not fit for
anybody else s needs but your own. Ever try and watch what you want on TV while there are four
other members of your family fighting to grab control of the same thing? Well, I have the perfect
solution. Move the TV in your own room and lock the door. It s wonders how many more
opportunities you have when you have your own room. I ve always had my own room and pretty
much take it for granted. I always have the option of taking a nap in peace and quiet since I have never
had to share. The list of positives is endless when it comes to having your own room
A final and probably the greatest factor of all is the individuality of one s room. This is what declares
the difference from one person s room to the next. It brings out one s character and personality.
Usually, you can tell how a person is by some factors

What is Confict Transformation
Conflict transformation explains that rather then getting rid of the conflict (expression or
disagreement), it seeks to work at the problem from the inside out (Lederach, 1995). In this conflict
stated above the root of the conflict was when the customer did not retain her information and
software due to the suggestion given of performing a factory reset her computer. This problem could
have been resolved when the customer first came in the store and inquired about this issue. The sale
representative could/should have told the customer to backup her data and then suggested a reset, even
better the sales representative could have done it for the customer. In saying this HP should have also
informed the customer that such things can occur when factory resetting a device.
Conflict Transformation is also reliant on a moral decision that are made on the spot and
understanding that not all conflicts are going to be all right and that faith may played a major role in
the end result (Lederach, 1995). We can see that the first impression that the customer received and
was directed to HP was an incorrect moral decision that was made on the spot. Due to this decision it
lead to frustration and a lengthy process to resolve for all parties. This gave the customer a wrong
impression of what both companies are like and may never shop with us again.
Another conflict resolution method that could have been used to handle this conflict is the interest
based relational (IBR) approach

Marriage Proposal In Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austen
In Austen s novels, the successful proposals indicate that the man asking a genuine question. This is
obvious in Darcy s second proposal to Elizabeth even though his speech does not contain a question

are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes are unchanged, but one
word from you will silence me on this subject for ever (458). His speech indicates that he waits for
Elizabeth s answer. Similarly, in Emma, Mr. Knightley, as Darcy, asks Emma a genuine question if she
accepts his offer or not by saying, Tell me, then, have I no chance of ever succeeding?.... My dearest

women with no fortune have no rights to get married to men from the upper class. For the same

Case Study Of The Melamine Milk Crisis In China
Preventative crises occur again and again for various reasons. One of the main reasons is because
managers and top level business executives desire for profits without regard to sound moral principles
(Crandall, Parnell, Spillan, 2014). Unfortunately, this in itself can trigger an organizational crisis. This
problem appears in many forms, but the results are usually the same: an organizational crisis of some
type, stakeholders who have been hurt, and prevention that would have cost pennies in comparison to
the damage done (Crandall et al., 2014). A classic case of unethical decision making and lack of crisis
management concerns the Melamine Milk Crisis in China.
This case begins with a Chinese company, the Sanlu Group, who was purchasing milk for use in its
baby formula. Over time employees of the Sanlu Group discovered the milk their company was
purchasing, was tainted with melamine (Crandall et al., 2014). Melamine is a product generally used
to make plastics and laminates. Unfortunately, management personnel working for the Sanlu Group
was unaware of the tainted substance being illegally added to the milk. However, the melamine
product is a life threatening product that can cause kidney stones and renal failure once it is consumed.
Although the melamine boosted the protein rating of the milk, it was illegally added to the milk
(Crandall et al., 2014).
Still unaware of the danger the melamine laced milk was causing to infants, the Sanlu Group
continued to purchase the

Essay about Pill Bug Lab
ABSTRACT Pill bugs live in an outside environment where they are able to get the necessary amount

there natural habitat, pill bugs are found in dark, damp places. Living in moist places is important for
pill bugs so they can take in enough water, and if water is not available, they group together to prevent
water loss. Pill bugs most often live in dark places because they have a negative photo taxis. Darker
places also tend to be cooler and damper. Each experiment connected to how the pill bugs would

Kinesis occurs when the animal moves in a random motion in response to the stimulus. Throughout
this lab, we put the pillbugs through four different tests. These experiments are to test to see if these
animals will prefer a certain habitat rather than another and how they show this is through either
kinesis movement or taxis movement. MATERIALS AND METHODS In all labs, a lab book and a
pen or pencil are essential to record the number of pillbugs. The times come up fast so you have to
make sure you are watching the clock or stop watch. Obviously, do not poke the pillbugs or try and
force them into a certain chamber aggressively, this will aggravate them and cause unreliable results.
When you are trying to get your pillbugs, use a paintbrush to sweep them onto your brush and then
carefully place them into the choice chamber dish that is provided for you. Make sure to get 10
pillbugs so you can have five in each chamber. If they look dead, they are most likely just curled up.
During the various tests, make sure to take notes on the appearance, the types of movements (kinesis
or taxis) and the interactions between the animals. The first experiment is to find out if the pillbugs
prefer dark or light environments. The choice chambers have a little passageway between the
chambers. Make sure to gently place five pillbugs on each side and then block off that doorway with a
cardboard barrier of some sorts. Pick one of the chambers and then cover that chamber with

The Thirty Years War, which involved multiple countries throughout central Europe, took place in
1618 1648. Although it initially began as a religious conflict between the Catholics and Protestants in
Germany, it quickly expanded into a larger conflict over the thirst for power within all of these

In Sylvia Plath s poem Stings , there are many important techniques used that can be easily
overlooked when one has only read the final poem and not the original drafts. The original version of
Stings reveals a narrator that relates and desires to be the Queen of the bees. Unlike the original
however, the final draft is more coded and less forthright with the narrator s aspirations. In the original
draft there are a couple of words and phrases omitted from the final that bring about a different
interpretation of how the narrator compares herself to the Queen Bee. It seems as though many of the

By merging the stanzas together and omitting the four lines in the final draft, Plath is focusing her
attention on the humans rather than the bees. To further understand the significance of this change it
helps to look at the eleventh stanza in the original draft. The importance of the stanza separation in the
original version is seen through looking at the first and second line Black as the devil, and
vengeful/The bees found him out (Plath, manuscript). In the original draft, the stanza separation shifts
the focus from the third beekeeper back onto the bees and allows for a completely different reading
where Black as the devil, and vengeful describes the bees rather than the wound had there been no
separation in stanzas. The bees are described as though to be swarming and seeking vengeance for
their disturbed queen. Plath seems however to want to focus on the person being stung rather than the
bees and therefore omits the four lines and merges the stanzas together. In one of her letters to her
mother, Plath describes how her husband is stung by bees for being carless much like the beekeeper in
the poem (The County Dublin Beekeepers Association, para 8). By getting rid of the lines and joining
the two stanzas, Plath demonstrates how the bees of the hive would react in such a situation; without
focus on anything but the beekeeper who had disturbed their peace. The added lines focused too much
on the bees and the stings on the beekeepers face. The removed lines allow the reader to remain in the
descriptive point of view of the bees rather than going back to the narrator s point of

Posttructuralism And Structuralism
Poststructuralism mainly criticizes the dependence of structuralism on tradition and opposes
traditional structuralism to focus research on objectivity and rationality. It attempts to restore irrational
tendencies, pursue from the logic, but produce non logical results. There is seldom a coherent theory
in the field of poststructuralism, but each theory begins with a critique of Structuralism. Take the
documentary as an example, in the view of the poststructuralist theorists, there is nothing else other
than ideology, and any objective and true claim is doubtful in the documentary expression. For many
people, such a poststructuralist approach is disappointing. If the documentary cannot get any form of
objectivity or authenticity, even full of fiction like other feature film, then, how does documentary
confirm its identity and value? For the moment, the response of the theorists to this issue is not
sufficient, but I am in favor of Carl s point of view. Carl (1996) argues that the theory of
poststructuralism and postmodernism is untenable as a philosophy. Also, as a basis for political
analysis and political action, it is a failure. The research on poststructuralism is political, because
many poststructuralists believe that the world which people living now is just a social construct, and
there are many different ideology promoters who want to be hegemonic. This is obviously not
acceptable.
The documentary is a non fictional art technique. It restore and record the past or

Reasons To Blame For The Peloponnesian War
Peloponnesian War Many factors contributed to the starting of this war. Both Sparta and Athens are
partially to blame for the starting of this, however, Corinth is the city that pressured Sparta into telling
Athens to stop mistreating our allies (Hunt 100). Their reasoning stems from Athens trying to exercise
power on too of many of Sparta s Peloponnese based alliance s cities. Athens is most to blame for the
Peloponnesian war because of their relentless drive, failure to negotiate peace with Sparta when they
had the chance, as well as their wealth and control of the Delian league. Athens was growing rapidly
during this time period and was not showing any signs of slowing down, which worried the Spartans.
They feared that their interest and allies would fall to the Athenians (Hunt 100). Corinth and Megara
worried about the Athenians a lot as well and complained bitterly to Sparta about Athens (Hunt 100).
Eventually, Corinth Told Sparta to attack Athens, or else Corinth and its navy would change sides to
the Athenian alliance. (Hunt 100) Which gave Sparta no choice but to ask for either peace from Athens
or war. Pericles persuaded his voters to reject the offer from the Spartans ... Show more content on

They had yet to have an effective navy. Athens on the other hand had the Delian league, which was
known for their ability to fight from the sea. Their navy outnumbered Sparta s three to one and they
had 200 skilled archers while the Spartans relied on their swords and spears (Hunt 103). Because of
these staggering numbers Sparta and its allies worried about Athens attacking them. Athens having
control of the Delian league gave them much confidence and this likely is the cause of all their
refusals to peace treaties. Because of the wealth Athens had at the time Alcibiades persuaded the
Athenian assembly to launch the greatest and

Vertigo Mise En Scene Analysis
Symptoms of Vertigo: You Won t Feel Like Yourself Vertigo is an extremely complex movie in many
ways. It has an abundant amount of great elements to it that add a great deal of depth to the picture
such as its use of mise en scene, cinematography, and editing techniques. By combining all of these
elements together, they help to bring the films form and narrative together to show a reoccurring
theme of life versus death. The use of mise en scene elements contribute a great deal to the films
overall theme. In the particular scene for this analysis, an element that stands out a number of times is
lighting. There is an immense difference between the amount of light when Madeline and John are in
the forrest as opposed to when they are out near the shore line. The scene also uses the lack ... Show

In the shot where John and Madeline are behind the tree trying to discuss where she was born or who
she is (around two minutes fifty seconds), the camera zooms in on the two of them. As John keeps
pushing her to talk, she gets even more confused and frustrated. To emphasize this, the directors made
the camera zoom in so you can see every emotion on her face up close and personal. This connects
this scene to the ideology that you are always connected to your past, whether you know it or not.
Inside, she knows that she is Carlotta, but she can t establish the difference between herself and the
side of her that is Carlotta. In addition to zooming, the scene also includes deep focus. By using deep
focus throughout the entire scene, you get a better scene of space. By establishing this large space
within the shots, it creates a contrast within the film. Although there is so much space in the scenes,
Madeline still feels enclosed by her own mind. You can tell that once she gets out of the trees, she lets
go slightly. Without the use of cinematography, we would be looking at a whole different

The Journal Articles On Special Education Assessment
Journal Articles Review Analyzed below are the two journal articles about special education
assessments entitled, Predictors of Assessment Accommodations Use for Students Who are Deaf or
Hard of Hearing from the Journal of Educational Research Policy Studies (Cawthon WurtzBest, 2010)
and A Methodology for Assessing the Functions of Emerging Speech in Children with Developmental
Disabilities from the Journal of Applied Behavioral Analysis (Parten, et al, 2005). The analysis
revolves around the following areas: nature of research, summary, critique, personnel, future practice,
and future research. A. Nature of Research The first article, Predictors of Assessment
Accommodations Use for Students Who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing by Cawthon WurtzBest (2010),
is a regression study aimed to explore whether student characteristics, teacher perspectives, and
contextual factors predict accommodations use with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
(Cawthon WurtzBest, 2010). The article is very relevant to special education assessment because it
discussed implications for assessment policies and practices with students who are deaf or hard of
hearing, particularly during an era of accountability reform (NCLB accountability). The second
article, A Methodology for Assessing the Functions of Emerging Speech in Children with
Developmental Disabilities by Lerman, Parten, Addison, Vorndran, Volkert, Kodak, 2005 (2005), is
about an experimental study aimed to develop and evaluate

  • 3. The Overlooked Area Of Poverty Essay The overlooked area Looking at the MDGs as the whole, poverty reduction was the central theme in the development agenda; it was aimed to cut in half proportion of the population living below $1 a day from around 30 percent of the developing countries by 2015 (United Nations, 2005). Even though these targets have been almost achieved; it was predicted that there are about 825 million of citizen still live in extreme poverty and 800 million still suffer from inadequate hunger (FAO, 2015). Thus, fighting against poverty and hunger remains the enormous challenge. Then, an inevitable question arises as to whether the persistence of poverty was well defined. FAO (2015) also have noticed that extreme poverty mainly occurs in rural areas where the majority of poor people depend on agriculture. The condition of relying on agriculture means that primary source of food and income for those poor people come from agriculture that they have made. Unfortunately, agriculture was not prioritized at the goal and target levels. Agriculture was mentioned at the indicator level under target three of goal eight (Develop a Global Partnership for Development). It was set to measure market access, which was seen as a huge gap that agriculture was overlooked in the MDGs. The relevance of agriculture to other goals Relooking at the connection between agriculture and each of the goal is considered as a reflective process for better implications in the next goal development. • 4. A Study For Public Key Digital Signature Schemes Abstract: In this proposed paper a study for public key digital signature schemes that based on different mathematical NP hard problems. That problems influence in performance and reliability of digital signature schemes. In this paper we make a survey on mathematical NP hard problems of digital signature schemes and present the powerful and practical of some schemes depending on its security level. Introduction: Digital signature is a verification mechanism based on the public key scheme, and it provides: Data integrity (the assurance that data has not been changed by an unauthorized party). Authentication (the assurance that the source of data is as claimed). Non repudiation (the assurance that an entity cannot deny commitments). Generally, every public key digital signature schemes is based on a mathematical problem. This problem is known as NP (Non deterministic polynomial) hard problem. The problem is considered to be an NP hard mathematical problem if the validity of a proposed solution can be checked only in polynomial time. Basically, public key digital signature schemes are successfully classified into many major types depending on the NP mathematical hard problem. These problems are the integer factorization problem (IFP), the discrete logarithm problem (DLP), the Elliptic Curve discrete logarithm problem (ECDLP), the chaotic maps hard problem In the present e commerce and e government era, digital signatures have become more and more important ... Salinger s Nine Stories , there are two stories that indicate a death, and, remarkably, these two short stories are what begin and end this captivating piece of literature. The first story is called A Perfect Day for Bananafish and introduces a man who has been through the hell of World War II, which allows him to see things from a different perspective. The latter is called Teddy and revolves around a young, ingenious boy that seems to have a speculative mindset and very deep insight into life. In both stories the reader is introduced to a genius , but the geniuses, with all the potentials at hand, end up going mad and killing themselves. However, this proves to be Salinger s point. When Seymour takes his own life, we backtrack to his story and he is then seen as a celestial figure, ahead of his time and full of wisdom. Metaphorically speaking, the bananafish ideology depicts humanity in the postwar boom generation, where riches surround all people. However, amidst all the possessions, we cannot help ourselves and we continuously and relentlessly consume, regardless of what may happen as a result. We are each trapped in our own banana filled hole, in which Seymour ultimately escapes from through his death. In the final short story Teddy , the main character is a ten year old boy who is as intuitive and intelligent as any character gets in this novel, with the exception of Seymour of course. Like Seymour Glass, Teddy sees the world differently than his peers. The two tend to focus their a lot of their attention on small details, such as orange peels, the colour of bathing suits, a woman that seemingly looks at Seymour s feet, and appear to mirror a larger scale vision of humanity. Teddy s orange peels recall Seymour s bananafish. Both their objects, in Seymour s case an imaginary one, are somewhat allegorical in a sense that they seem to suggest a philosophical portrayal of humanity. To clarify, Teddy first notices the orange peels floating and finds them interesting. The remnants of what was once a living fruit, now floating, lifeless on the dark water. At an individual level, it is often witnessed within families and at places of work. At a group level, appeasement of communities, sects, counties, countries, etc. is an omnipresent reality of today s world. While most such acts are targeted at calming down a seemingly volatile situation, the majority of them do not aim to benefit all the parties involved i.e. the appeased party, the appeasing party or the appeaser and the third parties affected by the agreement between the former two but not directly involved themselves. In our own country, the continuous appeasement of minorities or backward communities for vote bank politics has gradually established itself as a deep rooted cancer in our society. There are widespread killings, looting and arson until the central government bends to the unjust demands of the protesting community and surrenders. Unfortunately, this becomes a vicious cycle and emboldens other people with a common grouse to demand reservations, statehood, favours, etc. The appeaser i.e. the government remains a spectator for most of the period but eventually ends up on the losing side whereas the appeased party i.e. the protesting group usually ends up on the winning side. However, the biggest losers are the rest of the people (third party) who have nothing to do with the issue. Badly hit road and train travel, exorbitantly costly air travel, electricity / water crisis, postponement of exams / interviews, collateral damage in terms of killings and loss of income, etc. are few of the problems that people face due to the standoff between the government and the protesters. Despite these challenging tasks, Beowulf exhibits unique heroic qualities throughout his youth and declining years that make him a great king and leader of the Geats. Since his youth as a great warrior lasts so long, the epic portrays Beowulf in three different feats of strength and courage. His first feat was in his swimming match with Breca. Unferth, jealous of Beowulf s popularity with his fellow Danes, brings up Beowulf s loss in a swimming match to Breca. Unferth states that Beowulf will face defeat against Grendel once again as no one has ever outlasted an entire night against Grendel. Winning the John.D and Catherine T. Mac Arthur Foundations genius grant at only twenty seven years old, Walkers art has taunted Americans to recognize the legacy that slavery has left behind. A move to Atlanta, Georgia in Walkers adolescence exposed her to the southern bigotry that inspired her art in later years. One of the things that Cannery Row highlights t readers is music. Steinbeck mentions music in the novel numerous times. Music is important in the novel because it is able to show the affects and moods the people are in and also able to help describe the events that is going on. For instance, by describing the character Doc, Steinbeck adds how music is of great importance to Doc by explaining the laboratory. The music emphasized how Doc was feeling and the impact it had on his mood. Steinbeck was able to allow the readers to get an idea and a mental visual of the scene that was occurring. Like when he was on the beach, after seeing the dead girl. I could almost hear the surf and feel the breeze that was being explained, along with the sad music playing. In my opinion, I believe that Steinbeck was able to incorporate how music is able to correspond with individual s thoughts and feelings. Simply by when he stated that Doc hit Mack because of the destruction in his laboratory, then briefly felt bad for doing it. Steinbeck is able to captivate Doc s feelings with the song choice he gave Hor ch el Ciel e la Terra by Monteverdi. Even though Cannery Row s plot can be quite trying at times, I believe that John Steinbeck was able to give almost a poetic and artistry gesture to the novel. By adding the different music types and connecting it with different ventures in the novel. It was exciting to be a Manager of the supply chain of a mobile phone manufacturer. I learned very quickly the pressures of running such a large operation. In this review, I will discuss lessons learned regarding conceptions shown in the simulation. I will explain how if completing the simulation again, what I would complete differently. In conclusion, I will talk about my key overall takeaways from this exercise. Year One In Year 1 while in the Design room, I chose the Wifi and Stylish options. My intuitive thoughts were consumer based and not supplier driven. However, these combined options offered an estimated favorable profit for the company. While forecasting I chose to forecast below average for Model A and above average for Model B. Again, my decision making was consumer driven and I as a consumer would prefer a stylish mobile device over a base model, therefore estimated demand at a higher level. In choosing suppliers in Year 1, key drivers were lead times, setup and unit carrying costs, and capacity. The decision were also based off of my forecast for each model. I learned quickly as each month passed, I was out of inventory therefore, making a costly $2.0MM adjustment with one of my suppliers. Finally, the most important factor is security. The country will be safer when these ports are managed by Americans. The safety of the country and support of domestic companies could have influence on the reversal of the ports deal. The US public concerns did not have big influence on a business decision made by a Dubai company. More influence had the political pressure. However, public concern also played its role in this case. For example, people s opinion was that foreign states, especially those related to terrorism in the past, could not be trusted with strategic American assets. Also, they thought that foreign countries should not have managerial responsibilities over ports due to divided loyalties and concerns over national independence. Accordingly, all these public opinions were reflected and expressed by the politicians whose pressure constrained Dubai Company to withdraw. Thinking that transportation takes place through a global network of companies is slightly incorrect. Ports are vulnerable to the entry of terrorists or illicit weapons because of the large number of containers that enter U.S. territory. Southern Controversy Hannah Daigle Dale Bailey English 131/03 23 September 2017 An Age Old Southern Controversy The Civil War began in the 1860 s and was one of the most important events in southern and U.S. history. In the south one of the major symbols of the war was the confederate flag. For me personally since I am from South Carolina I have found that there are two separate views on the flag which would be the supporting and opposing sides. The supporting side is said to be majority of white southerners and the opposing side is said to be majority of black southerners and white northerners (Webster and Leib). Forman claims that it should be impossible for people to view the flag as a symbol of equality. Forman believes that the confederate flag violates the First Amendment by chilling the desire and ability of black citizens to exercise fully their First Amendment rights, which is their freedom of speech. The Black citizens felt like they did not have a say on the flag being up on state grounds (Forman). The opposing side of the flag did not like it up so much that in the early 2000 s there was a boycott against the state of South Carolina due to the fact the flag was still up. This boycott cost the state $7 million dollars in revenue lost (Allen). The rebels were fighting for territory, for economic control, and obviously for slavery. The Confederate flag has been used throughout this century as a symbol by the Klan, skinheads, and other white supremacists opposed to black demands for equality and constitutional protection (Forman). • 21. Technology Opportunities in The Trucking Industry This paper is written to inform you about three technology opportunities that will make a positive impact on transportation. These opportunities will lead to more efficient transportation now and in the future. The first technological opportunity discussed is Truck Design; the design of the truck can make a difference in fuel cost. The second technological opportunity discussed is a Speed Governor System; this is a device in trucks that restricts the speed it can travel. The final technological opportunity discussed is the use of cloud computing; this is where information and software is shared on multiple devices. The new inventive designs of vehicles to make them more fuel efficient gives the industry a chance to lower prices because of a lower profit margin and that gives them the opportunity to be more price competitive. Providing better prices for services than other companies who do the same thing will bring in a lot more business to the company. More business is an opportunity to expand operations and invest in even more ways to save money and expand the company. With the inclusion of speed governors on trucks, trucking will be more gas efficient and safer. Gas efficiency will lead to great savings on fuel that will cut the cost of transportation. Speed governors are devices that put a limit on how fast a vehicle can go. The reduction of speed has big effects on fuel efficiency, It s a fact that slowing a truck down by 10 miles per hour reduces fuel consumed by 15 percent (Graham, 2011). Fuel efficiency is not the only thing that comes from the use of speed governors; the trucks are safer, the equipment (such as tires and brakes) last longer, and the liability cost is lower (Road Safe America, 2009). With the placement of Governors on trucking vehicles, drivers will not be able to speed up past the pre set miles per hour by the trucking company. For the most part what they do is try to survive in any way they can. The book begins, The island of Pianosa lies in the Mediterranean Sea eight miles south of Elba. That is the geographical location of the action. Much of the emotional plot of the book turns on the question of who s crazy, and I suggest that it is illuminating to look at its world in Kleinian terms. SIX PRINCIPLES OF PERSUASION 1 PRINCIPLE OF RECIPROCITY This principle is born out of societal norm and culture. It is a principle whereby people do things for you in expectation that you will do something for them. What they expected you to do might just be verbal or physical action. For instance, when you walk into a shop to buy something, and the shop attendant goes out his/her way to research for information to enable you understand the product or service better. You can really see that the shop attendant was not showing any sign of being busy, rather he was even the one suggesting more things that will lead to her making more research. Of course, he expects you to patronize them after putting him through all the stress looking for more information. Otherwise all his efforts and time would have been in futility. 2 PRINCIPLE OF SCARCITY. In this situation, the salesperson or sales letter try to create an artificial scarcity based on a discount, or based on the limited quantity available for supply. For instance, a company sent a sales letter that first of all showed all the benefit I stand to gain on a package that is worth $29,000, but they can sell the package on promotion for $5,000 if I buy before 31st December, 2015. What is Confict Transformation Conflict transformation explains that rather then getting rid of the conflict (expression or disagreement), it seeks to work at the problem from the inside out (Lederach, 1995). In this conflict stated above the root of the conflict was when the customer did not retain her information and software due to the suggestion given of performing a factory reset her computer. This problem could have been resolved when the customer first came in the store and inquired about this issue. The sale representative could/should have told the customer to backup her data and then suggested a reset, even better the sales representative could have done it for the customer. In saying this HP should have also informed the customer that such things can occur when factory resetting a device. Conflict Transformation is also reliant on a moral decision that are made on the spot and understanding that not all conflicts are going to be all right and that faith may played a major role in the end result (Lederach, 1995). We can see that the first impression that the customer received and was directed to HP was an incorrect moral decision that was made on the spot. Due to this decision it lead to frustration and a lengthy process to resolve for all parties. This gave the customer a wrong impression of what both companies are like and may never shop with us again. • 34. Case Study Of The Melamine Milk Crisis In China Preventative crises occur again and again for various reasons. One of the main reasons is because managers and top level business executives desire for profits without regard to sound moral principles (Crandall, Parnell, Spillan, 2014). Unfortunately, this in itself can trigger an organizational crisis. This problem appears in many forms, but the results are usually the same: an organizational crisis of some type, stakeholders who have been hurt, and prevention that would have cost pennies in comparison to the damage done (Crandall et al., 2014). A classic case of unethical decision making and lack of crisis management concerns the Melamine Milk Crisis in China. This case begins with a Chinese company, the Sanlu Group, who was purchasing milk for use in its baby formula. Over time employees of the Sanlu Group discovered the milk their company was purchasing, was tainted with melamine (Crandall et al., 2014). Melamine is a product generally used to make plastics and laminates. Unfortunately, management personnel working for the Sanlu Group was unaware of the tainted substance being illegally added to the milk. The sizes of the army, the prolonged battle time, and the inability to pay the soldiers only dug this issue into a deeper grave. The only way the countries could suffice the money to pay their armies back was to tax their people heavily. This foreshadowed the future uprisings of the unfairness of these taxations on the people and how detrimental and destructive it is to their daily lives. Also during the war, agricultural production declined, leaving many with the inability to create even the minimum needed to feed their families. Famine swept across Europe and many died due to ... • 38. Stings In Sylvia Plath s poem Stings , there are many important techniques used that can be easily overlooked when one has only read the final poem and not the original drafts. The original version of Stings reveals a narrator that relates and desires to be the Queen of the bees. Unlike the original however, the final draft is more coded and less forthright with the narrator s aspirations. In the original draft there are a couple of words and phrases omitted from the final that bring about a different interpretation of how the narrator compares herself to the Queen Bee. It seems as though many of the changes made in the poem were to make the narrators longings come to fruition while also trying to bring the bees to life through the narrator. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By merging the stanzas together and omitting the four lines in the final draft, Plath is focusing her attention on the humans rather than the bees. To further understand the significance of this change it helps to look at the eleventh stanza in the original draft. The importance of the stanza separation in the original version is seen through looking at the first and second line Black as the devil, and vengeful/The bees found him out (Plath, manuscript). In the original draft, the stanza separation shifts the focus from the third beekeeper back onto the bees and allows for a completely different reading where Black as the devil, and vengeful describes the bees rather than the wound had there been no separation in stanzas. The bees are described as though to be swarming and seeking vengeance for their disturbed queen. Plath seems however to want to focus on the person being stung rather than the bees and therefore omits the four lines and merges the stanzas together. In one of her letters to her mother, Plath describes how her husband is stung by bees for being carless much like the beekeeper in the poem (The County Dublin Beekeepers Association, para 8). By getting rid of the lines and joining the two stanzas, Plath demonstrates how the bees of the hive would react in such a situation; without focus on anything but the beekeeper who had disturbed their peace. The added lines focused too much on the bees and the stings on the beekeepers face. The removed lines allow the reader to remain in the descriptive point of view of the bees rather than going back to the narrator s point of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Posttructuralism And Structuralism Poststructuralism mainly criticizes the dependence of structuralism on tradition and opposes traditional structuralism to focus research on objectivity and rationality. It attempts to restore irrational tendencies, pursue from the logic, but produce non logical results. There is seldom a coherent theory in the field of poststructuralism, but each theory begins with a critique of Structuralism. Take the documentary as an example, in the view of the poststructuralist theorists, there is nothing else other than ideology, and any objective and true claim is doubtful in the documentary expression. For many people, such a poststructuralist approach is disappointing. If the documentary cannot get any form of objectivity or authenticity, even full of fiction like other feature film, then, how does documentary confirm its identity and value? For the moment, the response of the theorists to this issue is not sufficient, but I am in favor of Carl s point of view. Carl (1996) argues that the theory of poststructuralism and postmodernism is untenable as a philosophy. Also, as a basis for political analysis and political action, it is a failure. The research on poststructuralism is political, because many poststructuralists believe that the world which people living now is just a social construct, and there are many different ideology promoters who want to be hegemonic. This is obviously not acceptable. The documentary is a non fictional art technique. It restore and record the past or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Reasons To Blame For The Peloponnesian War Peloponnesian War Many factors contributed to the starting of this war. Both Sparta and Athens are partially to blame for the starting of this, however, Corinth is the city that pressured Sparta into telling Athens to stop mistreating our allies (Hunt 100). Their reasoning stems from Athens trying to exercise power on too of many of Sparta s Peloponnese based alliance s cities. Athens is most to blame for the Peloponnesian war because of their relentless drive, failure to negotiate peace with Sparta when they had the chance, as well as their wealth and control of the Delian league. Athens was growing rapidly during this time period and was not showing any signs of slowing down, which worried the Spartans. They feared that their interest and allies would fall to the Athenians (Hunt 100). Corinth and Megara worried about the Athenians a lot as well and complained bitterly to Sparta about Athens (Hunt 100). Eventually, Corinth Told Sparta to attack Athens, or else Corinth and its navy would change sides to the Athenian alliance. (Hunt 100) Which gave Sparta no choice but to ask for either peace from Athens or war. Pericles persuaded his voters to reject the offer from the Spartans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They had yet to have an effective navy. Athens on the other hand had the Delian league, which was known for their ability to fight from the sea. Their navy outnumbered Sparta s three to one and they had 200 skilled archers while the Spartans relied on their swords and spears (Hunt 103). Because of these staggering numbers Sparta and its allies worried about Athens attacking them. Athens having control of the Delian league gave them much confidence and this likely is the cause of all their refusals to peace treaties. Because of the wealth Athens had at the time Alcibiades persuaded the Athenian assembly to launch the greatest and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Vertigo Mise En Scene Analysis Symptoms of Vertigo: You Won t Feel Like Yourself Vertigo is an extremely complex movie in many ways. It has an abundant amount of great elements to it that add a great deal of depth to the picture such as its use of mise en scene, cinematography, and editing techniques. By combining all of these elements together, they help to bring the films form and narrative together to show a reoccurring theme of life versus death. The use of mise en scene elements contribute a great deal to the films overall theme. In the particular scene for this analysis, an element that stands out a number of times is lighting. There is an immense difference between the amount of light when Madeline and John are in the forrest as opposed to when they are out near the shore line. The scene also uses the lack ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the shot where John and Madeline are behind the tree trying to discuss where she was born or who she is (around two minutes fifty seconds), the camera zooms in on the two of them. As John keeps pushing her to talk, she gets even more confused and frustrated. To emphasize this, the directors made the camera zoom in so you can see every emotion on her face up close and personal. This connects this scene to the ideology that you are always connected to your past, whether you know it or not. Inside, she knows that she is Carlotta, but she can t establish the difference between herself and the side of her that is Carlotta. In addition to zooming, the scene also includes deep focus. By using deep focus throughout the entire scene, you get a better scene of space. By establishing this large space within the shots, it creates a contrast within the film. Although there is so much space in the scenes, Madeline still feels enclosed by her own mind. You can tell that once she gets out of the trees, she lets go slightly. Without the use of cinematography, we would be looking at a whole different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Journal Articles On Special Education Assessment Journal Articles Review Analyzed below are the two journal articles about special education assessments entitled, Predictors of Assessment Accommodations Use for Students Who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing from the Journal of Educational Research Policy Studies (Cawthon WurtzBest, 2010) and A Methodology for Assessing the Functions of Emerging Speech in Children with Developmental Disabilities from the Journal of Applied Behavioral Analysis (Parten, et al, 2005). The analysis revolves around the following areas: nature of research, summary, critique, personnel, future practice, and future research. A. Nature of Research The first article, Predictors of Assessment Accommodations Use for Students Who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing by Cawthon WurtzBest (2010), is a regression study aimed to explore whether student characteristics, teacher perspectives, and contextual factors predict accommodations use with students who are deaf or hard of hearing (Cawthon WurtzBest, 2010). The article is very relevant to special education assessment because it discussed implications for assessment policies and practices with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, particularly during an era of accountability reform (NCLB accountability). The second article, A Methodology for Assessing the Functions of Emerging Speech in Children with Developmental Disabilities by Lerman, Parten, Addison, Vorndran, Volkert, Kodak, 2005 (2005), is about an experimental study aimed to develop and evaluate ...
