This paper will take a look at Salvador Dali s painting, The Persistence of Memory, painted in 1931.
As the viewer can tell, this is a story of time and life. The memories start in the background where all
is well and things are straight and calm. Moving on to the cliff, the observer possibly sees a well
behaved teenager. There is nothing horrible here that leads the spectator to gasp, and the viewer knows
this person made it through that time in their life. Then the picture moves on to the age of about

The next item that the eye is drawn to is the fly, resting on this clock. Although this clock seems to be
melting like the others in the picture, the fly plays an important part in this painting. Being the
painting is named, The Persistence of Memory, the fly leads the onlooker to think these memories
might not be as old as the rest. Flies are drawn to items that are rotting but still have some nutritional
value; this clock is fresh enough to have more value than the other clocks around it, giving the
spectator the thought that maybe while the clock is a memory, it is not distant and is still brought to
the frontal lobe now and then to be revisited. After looking beyond the focal point, to the left of that
clock and even a little bit closer is a pocket watch. This watch is in a contrasting orange color. This is
the only orange used in the painting. The placing of the pocket watch is strategic, as it too is on the
shelf with the most recent memory, but the line and angle of the shelf automatically pulls your eye to
it. The pocket watch is closed and highly decorated with black. Although, the viewer cannot make out
what the clock is decorated in, it seems to convey that this clock is very important to the scene. The
onlooker might even see this as a memory that has not been opened yet. Something grand will take

People are susceptible to memory alterations from misleading information to their own self reported
choices (choice blindness) as well as to events that are just seen (misinformation effect). Using these
two concepts, the authors used a combination of the misinformation paradigm (misinformation effect)
and choice blindness paradigm to examine the long term effects of choice blindness. Using an
integrative approach, the authors hypothesized the influence of other sourced information to changes
(e.g. In a previous trial, another participant said... ) in memory reports, and the inability to detect
alterations in memory reports. Overall, the authors hypothesized the development of false memories
from exposure to inaccurate memory reports.
In the first study, 186 undergraduate students watched a slideshow of a women getting her wallet
stolen, and then completed measures of a personality assessment (to fulfill cover story). Next,
participants answered ten questions relating to the slideshow (e.g. What color was the thief s jacket?).
After a 15 minute retention period, the participants received their memory reports. Three of the
responses were manipulated (misinformation items) and the other seven were not manipulated

This practical involved the determination of susceptibility of antimicrobial agents using the Kirby
Bauer sensitivity test as well as investigating the minimal inhibitory concentration of penicillin. This
practical also demonstrated the reversal of penicillin inhibition in the presence or absence of β
lactamase.
Method A nutrient agar plate containing the test organism with attenuated enteric bacteria was
inoculated by use of a swab dipped into bacterial suspension provided. Inoculation streaks were done
on the entire plate after which the agar plate was left to dry for 5 minutes. The filter paper disc
impregnated with antibiotics was picked up by a pair of forceps, dipped in alcohol and passed through
a flame for sterilization purposes. The filter paper disc were then pressed onto the agar plate using the
forceps and incubated for 48hours at 37 degrees Celsius. The pre incubated annual radii between the
edge of the disk and the edge of the confluent were measured and the results recorded after incubation
took place.
Test tubes containing serial dilution of 1: 1000 brain heart infusion (BHI) broth attenuated with strains
of the bacteria was incubated overnight at 37 degrees Celsius. Incubation was done in the absence or
presence of increasing concentration of penicillin. 200 microliter was pipetted into the 96 well plate
after which it was analyzed using a microplate reader using 570nm optical density.

Background of Roy Adaptation Model The Roy Adaptation Model (RAM) was developed by Sister
Callista Roy who is still an actively working nursing theorist. Sister Callista Roy, PhD, RN, FAAN
currently holds the position of professor and nursing theorist at Boston College Connell School of
Nursing. Roy held master s degrees in pediatric nursing and sociology at University of California, Los
Angeles (UCLA), and also held doctoral degree in sociology. She completed post doc in neuroscience
at University of California, San Francisco (Boston College Connell School of Nursing, 2016). Roy is
well known and most highly recognized a living nurse theorist today in world widely. Roy has
published RAM in 1970s, and then continuously collaborated with Dr. Heather Andrews to expand the
RAM theory in 1986, 1991, 1999, and 2009 (Roy, 2009). Roy first begun to process RAM when she
