Analysis Of A Draughtsman Drawing A Portrait By Albrecht...
In the 1968 art exhibition Cybernetic Serendipity L. D. Harmon and K. C. Knowlton take a simple
picture of two birds flying in the sky and computer generated the photography by converting electrical
signals into numerical representations on magnetic tape, this then provides a digital version of the
photo to be used in computer processing. The photo is divided into fragments where its generated by
numbers. The photo is given a density that s shown by different shades of dots that creates the
computer generated photograph. In close range, you can see each separate shaded dot which makes up
the photo. At 20 30 feet, away from the overall computer generated photograph you are able to
conduct the figure that once was an original photograph.
The modernist work I chose was A draughtsman drawing a portrait by Albrecht Durer. Albrecht Durer
was one of the many modernist yet abstract. I chose this Modernist work because Durer is abstract and
he uses perception is a great deal of his art works. Albrecht Durer s artworks were very diverse and
vibrant, they also included modern ways of creativity and originality. Durer was a huge example of
originality which made his drawing A draughtsman drawing a portrait so spectacular because it had
never been seen before. This drawing represented a way to draw people exactly as they are seen in real
life, as three dimensional. The artist as shown in the drawing using Durer s drawing machine, would
draw specific lines that were accurate

Essay about National Parks Under threat
National Parks: Underthreat Our nations incredible 401 National Parks are some of the most iconic
places on the face of the earth. From the Grand Canyon to the Great Smoky Mountains our nation s
national parks are something we should be proud to have. Lately our National Parks have been under
threat from both Environmental and Political issues both putting our National Parks at risk. We need
preserve the National Parks for generations to come. The National Parks show the most amazing parts
of this great nation, they are the source of billions of dollars in revenue, and they are the home to
countless forms of wildlife. The first U.S National Park was founded in 1872. The park was

According to an article in Grand Canyon Trust the U.S Government did little to prevent the poisoning
of Natives until the late 90 s when it was already to late (Grand Canyon Trust Organization). These
problems are still relevant in Native American communitys today. The Issue of National Park
conservation has become a widely controversial issue today. With the National debt reaching 17
trillion dollars some politicians think it is alright to either sell off national park land to commercial
foresters, miners, and even foreign nations or to just close some parks entirely to make up some of the
national debt. They are completely unaware that the parks arent just a pretty area of land for tourists .
Many cities depend on the parks for their well being. A quote from a local newspaper in California
supports this National parks don t boast concession stands or charge tax, but data indicates they bring
in millions of dollars to local economies each year (Tree). Supporters of cutting the parks include big
CEO s of major companies and some of them not even in this country. The supporters of slashing the
National Parks will be directly impacted by it if they are cut. They are the only ones who will benefit
from their loss. They believe that the government will benefit from slashing them because it will pay
off the National debt. They would want the land for

New City Construction Museum History
I recently took a trip to the New York Transit Museum (NYTM) where I discovered many things.
First, the museum itself is the Court Street station whose line ceased in June 1946. The station had
been abandoned due to slow traffic and remained deserted until the museum opened in 1976. It was
fascinating to see the evolution of train cars and turnstiles from its conception in the early 1900s
compared to what they are like today. Interestingly, in spite of the progression of train cars, the
concept of how the system operated is not much different from how it is done today. The station
remained intact since it was abandoned all those years ago. Various effects such as the signs and the
tower remained unchanged since its commencement in 1936. Additionally, prior to its use for
exhibition, Hollywood took advantage of its desolateness and used it for film production. The taking
of Pelham One Two Three was shot at the station. In addition to learning the museum s history, I also
learned the subway system was built in 1913. The remaining dynamites used for excavation were on
display to demonstrate how tunneling began. The New York transportation system existed much
longer than the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA); it can be traced back to the 1800 when horses
heaved oversize stagecoaches designed to transport ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cable cars, trolleys and motorbuses were designed as measures to address the rising concern;
however, to no avail. The elevated train or the el was soon established to help tackle the issue.

Yonkers Patent Railway in 1868. After a few short years, steam engines replaced cables in 1871
(NYTM). Joseph Brenna asserts in his article, in 1903, electric replaced the steam locomotives, thus
began the era of the underground (or the subway)

For example: in the golf sector, Nike would sell not shoes but the athletic ideals of determination,

Nat King Cole Research Paper
When you think about music in the late 1940 s to 1960 s who or what comes to mind? Do you think of
contemporaries such as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, or Perry Como? When I think of music in the late
1940 s to 1960 s the talented jazz performer, and pop artist that comes to my mind is Nat King Cole.
Nat King Cole was a Prominent African American entertainer... states Ruhlmann. He had a successful
career that included being featured in television and radio shows, touring internationally, and
producing and performing multiple hit records (Ruhlmann Nat King Cole Biography ).

Cole not only had to endure the criticism from the whites but from his own race. Cole went from
performing Jazz to pop music and many African Americans weren t fond of this. They felt as if he
were a traitor and his jazz fans were inflamed (Ruhlmann web).
In this period of time whites were prominent in pop music. It was rare that you heard of a black
musician in the pop genre. So, in a sense you could say his fans felt he was turning himself over to the
enemy, which at that time were the whites and anything associated with them including pop music
(Ruhlmann web).
Cole was also criticized by Civil Rights Activists because they felt that he wasn t doing enough for his

DM74LS47 BCD to 7 Segment Decoder/Driver with Open Collector Outputs
General Description
The DM74LS47 accepts four lines of BCD (8421) input data, generates their complements internally
and decodes the data with seven AND/OR gates having open collector outputs to drive indicator
segments directly. Each segment output is guaranteed to sink 24 mA in the ON (LOW) state and
withstand 15V in the OFF (HIGH) state with a maximum leakage current of 250 µA. Auxiliary inputs
provided blanking, lamp test and cascadable zero suppression functions.

The internal NAND gate that generates the RBO signal has a resistive pull up, as opposed to a totem
pole, and thus BI/ RBO can be forced LOW by external means, using wiredcollector logic. A LOW
signal thus applied to BI/RBO turns off all segment outputs. This blanking feature can be used to
control display intensity by varying the duty cycle of the blanking signal. A LOW signal applied to LT
turns on all segment outputs, provided that BI/RBO is not forced LOW.

Effective Leadership Essay
Effective Leadership in the Workplace First name Last name My University Effective Leadership in
the Workplace What is leadership? Leadership or being a leader can be described in many different
ways, but overall it means having to capacity to lead. In every business or organization they become
effective and remain effective because of their leaders and their ability to inspire and lead. Leadership
has nothing to do with seniority or one s position in the hierarchy of a company. Too many talk about
a company s leadership referring to the senior most executives in the organization. They are just that,
senior executives. Leadership doesn t automatically happen when you reach a certain pay grade.

getting in the trench and getting his hands dirty. It was motivating and where I gained a new level of
respect for you. Demonstrating commitment of this level will not only earn you the respect of you
employees, but it will also instill the importance of hard work amongst your staff. Another aspect of
commitment is keeping your word and not only establishing yourself as a hard worker but as a fair
leader. If you tell everyone that they can work a half day on Friday then hold true to your word. In the
end your commitment will produce high quality work from your employees. Being committed to the
job also includes honesty. This where in the workplace you utilize your values and ethics to how you
get the job done and how you hold yourself in the day to day. Look back at our first President, George
Washington, and his infamous cherry tree story. His quote of I cannot tell a lie... , has set a tone and is
still used as an example of ethics and integrity. Demonstrating your commitment to the job on a daily
basis involves many things and hopefully we were all raised to put in an honest days work. Knowing
what you want accomplished may seem clear in your head, but if you try to explain it to someone else

Medicine And Becoming A Doctor
I was perplexed and concerned when I realized that over the span of about three years my mother had
kept to herself information about her developing anemia, kidney problems due to past kidney stones,
chronic back pain, and now arthritic nodes on her fingers. These are some of the symptoms that I see,
and am reminded of daily, when I am around my hardworking mother, who has motivated me to
pursue a medical degree.
My desire to learn about medicine and become a doctor did not start at a young age or even in high
school. As a high school graduate going into college, my desire was to earn a science degree with the
purpose of attaining an MPH. Overall, what intrigued me the most in this profession was its
involvement in communities and third world countries. It was finally during winter break of my junior
year that I started to have doubts about pursuing an MPH, primarily because of the condition and state
that my mother was in.
Upon hearing her speak about her medical problems I was worried, but above all else concerned by
the irony of how she was always dedicated to taking care of her family, but regrettably not as diligent
about taking care of herself. Her goal was to work hard to provide the best care and nutrition so her
children could grow up healthy. She did her best to fulfill this goal by taking my siblings and me to
regular medical check ups. Whether it was due to indecision, money issues, lack of medical insurance,
or just reason not wanting to worry her family, she,

Organizational Justice Impact Employee Job Commitment,...
Organizational justice is a concept that represents how fair employees feel they are being treated by
their employer. This encompasses distributive justice, perceptions around outcomes such as pay and
promotions, and procedural justice, how these outcomes are determined. Why is this important? An
organization s culture is defined by it. Organizational justice impacts employee job commitment,
satisfaction, and performance. Employees perceptions of fairness will impact how successful a
company is in their market. (Patrick, 2012) (Kreitner Kinicki, 2013)

John Stacey Adams, the theory holds that motivation is a function of fairness in ... Show more content

As it sounds, pay transparency reflects on organizations decision to be open about the salary of each
employee/position. In his Ted Talk, David Burkus (2016) challenges the traditional practice of secrecy
around salaries. For Burkus (2016), pay transparency is the biggest way to combat inequity and pay
discrimination. Being open and transparent about how we compensate our team breeds trust amongst
all people involved, says Leo Widrich, CMO at Buffer (Baer, 2014). Buffer is a tech company focused
on products and services to help organizations maximize their social media campaigns. Buffer
publicly disclosed their salary formula and every employee is aware of what everyone makes, all the
way up to the CEO. They consider the move to pay transparency as an ethical imperative and
competitive advantage, highlighting their growth, profit, and company culture as proof. (Widrich,
2013)
Is pay transparency the answer to problems of inequity in the workplace? The results at Buffer seem to
point in that direction. However, larger organizations such as Google don t seem to embrace the idea
of pay transparency. An informal initiative internally publishing salaries, led by a Google engineer,
was less than welcomed resulting in the denial of the engineer s bonuses. (Weinberger, 2015)
Professor of Strategy and Strategic Leadership, Todd Zenger (2016) encourages organizations to count
the cost. According to Zenger, organizations should consider if pay

Thinking Outside The Idiot Box Analysis
Contemporary t.v. in today s society has taken up a vast amount of time in people s life. People can
spend hours in a day just watching t.v. mindlessly, however, is this time spent watching t.v. making a
person smarter? The television shows that people watch today are a primary form of entertainment for
a majority of America, along with conveying information to viewers. For years now people have
wanted dumb, simple tv, but as the culture began to develop more cognitively people want complex
and intelligent television. Contemporary t.v. is an important aspect for people to gain knowledge and

Similar to what Dana Stevens is taking about in finding credibility in a television like 24, Jason Zinser
looks at this question in his article, The Good, the Bad, and The Daily Show. . Zinser addresses both
the benefits and downfalls of television, but ultimately ends up taking a stand somewhere in the
middle of how t.v. is both good and bad for people. Zinser s believes that The Daily Show can be used
as a starting point from which people can gain an understanding of current events but it s not the most
useful way. He claims that this type of information people gain from watching a comedy news show
can be both useful but damaging. The question that needs to be addressed though, is why does it
matter where people are gaining their knowledge about the world and critical events as long as they
are gaining some knowledge from what they re watching. As Zinser states, An informed public is the
grease that keeps democracy running properly. Although foreign and domestic issues aren t settled by
popular vote, an informed public wields great democratic power . It doesn t matter whether
information comes from a comedy news show or from a hard hitting formal newscast, any information
that a person gains from television is far better than receiving no information at all, because if the
public is informed about the news in the world they have an understanding of it and could possibly
make decision about things

High School Start Times Essay
Day after day students have to drag themselves out of bed extremely early in order to make it to
school on time, and as students get older, schools start earlier and earlier. Many schools around the
country start before the recommended time of 8:30 am, particularly high schools which start the
earliest. Starting school so early takes a toll on adolescents health, sleep schedules, and concentration,
which results in poor academic achievement and safety issues. High schools in the Gresham Barlow

By the time they travel and arrive at school most of the year, it is still dark out, which is another factor

performance. According to a 2017 study published by Jennifer Heissel, an assistant professor of
Human Development and Social Policy at the Naval Postgraduate School, and Samuel Norris, a
professor of economics: We find that moving start times one hour later relative to sunrise increases
test scores by 0.08 and 0.06 standard deviations for adolescents in math and reading . The
improvements may not seem like much, but over a large scale of students it adds up and becomes
quite significant. These scores affect both students chances for college acceptance and overall district
ratings. Shouldn t we do all we can to improve? The study, published by Heissel and Norris covers
multiple institutions and school districts and shows increases in test scores when students had an
additional hour of daylight; however, students should have an additional hour of daylight consistently
throughout the year, not simply on exam days, in order for them to be impacted entirely (Heissel and
Norris). The reason being is students have dips in their sleep wake cycles that cause drowsiness, and
the biggest dip for teens occurs between 3:00 am and 7:00 am. Beginning school an hour later gives
students an additional hour of sunlight early in the day to wake up

The main Western religions are Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The common core of these three

Great Lakes Water Quality Essay
Water quality in the Great Lakes is something that has been a criticall issue in the Great Lakes Region
for a number of years. Water quality can be anything that affects the benefits humans derives from
water. It can include drinking water, food, recreation, and any other use of water that is possible. Many
invasive species including zebra mussels and Asian carp pose a great threat to the water quality of the
Great Lakes. The ecosystem and industry relying on the Great Lakes are also affected by this invasion.
I feel that the best way to stop invasive species from coming into the Great Lakes is to prevent the
problem from happening before it already has.
Zebra Mussels are small mussels originally found in Russia, but were introduced into the Great Lakes
in 1988. Zebra Mussels have spread throughout every Great Lake, and are prominent in over 100
inland lakes (Home). Ships traveling up the Erie Canal transported the zebra mussel from European
waters into the Great Lakes. The zebra mussel quickly spread from Lake Erie to the other Great Lakes.
The invading species began to attach itself to almost every solid thing in the Great Lakes. These can
stick to boats, damage structures such as docks and piers, and they can clog water intake pipes, which
are used for drinking and industrial use. Invasive species like the zebra ... Show more content on

effective mechanisms to prevent their introduction in the first place before it happens, create

difficult and costly to control or get rid of them all

Ways Of Knowing Are A Check On Instinctive Judgements
To respond to the statement, Ways of knowing are a check on our instinctive judgments, this essay will
address the extent of the effect ways of knowing have on our instinctive judgement. Ways of knowing
are taken as boundaries, or means of confirmation for instinctive judgements. In Malcolm Gladwell s
Blink, he said that instinctive judgement is, in one critical respect, no different from our conscious
thinking: in both, we are able to develop our rapid decision making with training and experience
(Gladwell, 2005). This suggests that the concept that instinctive judgement is trainable, then raises the
knowledge question, To what extent do ways of knowing affect instinctive judgements? . Ways of
knowing shape, reinforce, and work as checks to our instinctive judgements to a large extent. However
ways of knowing tend to be subconsciously drawn together with intuition by limiting those

a large extent. However these ways of knowing will be drawn together with intuition subconsciously

questions the extent of ways of knowing as a check in instinctive judgement, based on the analysis,
ways of knowing does work as a check in instinctive judgement to a large extent due to fact that there
s a large effect caused by the absence of a way of knowing in making moral instinctive judgement.
Nonetheless, ways of knowing such as reason and emotion have limitations when it comes to making

The Process of Gene Expression
The process of gene expression is used by all known life known as eukaryotes which include
multicellular organisms, prokaryotes like bacteria and Achaea, and viruses which generates the
macromolecular machinery for life. Gene expression is what turns on the genes and makes a product.
The products made could be an enzyme, a protein, or a control molecule. These products are often
proteins, but in non protein coding genes such as mRNA genes or tRNA genes, the product is a
functional RNA. The order of gene expression is transcription, RNA processing, then translation. The
control of transcription: this is the first step of gene expression when a particular segment of DNA is
copied into RNA by the enzyme RNA polymerase and is then a joined mechanism. During
transcription, a DNA sequence is read by an RNA polymerase, which produces a corresponding,
antiparallel RNA strand called a primary transcript. The order that transcription goes in would start
with the initiate transcription from a gene by binding the RNA polymerase to the promoter DNA. A
promoter is a region of DNA that initiates transcription of a particular gene. The RNA polymerase
then splits the double helix DNA molecule into two nucleotides. When doing this the breaking down
of the hydrogen bonds between DNA nucleotides occurs. The RNA and DNA helix s break apart and
the new RNA strand is complete. If the cell has a nucleus, it will then be processed again which will
then exits to the cytoplasm. During this process a

The dramatic rise of information technology has resulted in business managers requiring their
employees to not only be skilled in numeracy, reading, writing, speaking and listening but also I.C.T,
which in itself requires a certain level of numeracy, reading and writing skills in order for them to be
used in a way that meets the departmental or wider organisational goals and objectives. In a much
wider context, literacy is important in order for a country as a whole to remain competitive in an
increasing global market and to retain economic stability. It is extremely important, therefore, to
ensure that mechanisms and tools are in place to help children and adults improve their literacy skills
and that in particular children are better prepared for college and University education or their entry
into the job market. The problem of literacy skills deficiency is not just UK exclusive: it is a global
problem as the ACCI report indicates. Literacy skills have proved to be very important especially in
the modern age where businesses and world economies are driven by the use of technologies for
communication and commercial transactions across the globe. It is the responsibility of the respective
Government of each country to realise the importance of literacy; to invest adequate research funding
into how literacy can be improved in children and adults; develop possible proposals for changes to

Olympe De Gouges Essay
Olympe de Gouges, her real name was Marie Gouze. She was born in Montauban on May, 7 1748 and
died in Paris on November, 3 1793 ; she was executed by guillotine. Olympe de Gouges is a kind of a
rare case, she is one of the rare woman that has been executed for her political stance and writing. She
was a humanist, a feminist and wated slavery to be abolished. Her political stance was rather
groundbreaking for her time.
She is considered as a pioneer of feminism in France. She was a writer but she also had a politic
career.
Marie Gouze was born in a rather modest family, she married at the age of 16, had two children and
became a widow two years later. She remarried and followed her husband to Paris, where she lead a
rather free life. This is during that moment she decided to change her name to Olympe de Gouges and
began to frequent the intelluctal circles. It s during her thirties that she began to wrote several novels

Generational Differences Essay
Generational Differences
Every generation is influenced by its period s economic, political and social events. From the Great
Depression to the civil rights and women s movements to the advent of television and advanced
computer technologies. Thus generational background/situation may also affect the way they work.
The key is to be able to effectively address and take advantage of the differences in values and
expectations of each generation in the workplace. The current work place consists of four different
generations; The Baby Boomers (1946 1964) who are slowly retiring and existing the workforce, The
Generation X (1965 1976), The Generation Y or millennia (1977 1997), and the Generation Z who are
about to or are just entering the work force. Although these different generations tend to want similar
things in a workplace their environment/background has shaped their character, values, and
expectations (Hahn 2011).
Baby Boomers perspective
According to Hahn (2011), baby boomers share the following background and characteristics:
Raised during a time of economic prosperity and optimism.
Grew up with a clear division of gender roles and low divorce rate.
Experience the Vietnam War, the Apollo 11 moon landing, and the civil right movement.
They are comfortable working in hierarchical organizations.
Demonstrate a strong sense of self, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
Expect life to revolve around work.
Prefer face to face meetings.

Montgomery Bus Boycott Dbq Essay
Rosa Parks once said, Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare our children for what they
have to meet, and, hopefully, we shall overcome. Rosa Parks was an African American women in
Montgomery, Alabama, who believed in civil rights for African Americans. It was a time of
segregation, the separation of blacks and whites. For instance, blacks were required to sit in the back
of the bus, and white people sat in the front of the bus. In December of 1955, Rosa Parks sat in the
front of the bus and refused to give up her seat to a white male. She was later arrested and put in jail.
This caused the black people of Montgomery to initiate a boycott, the refusal to use the services of the

wrote in his diary about the success of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. He stated that 42,000 African
Americans stopped riding the buses. According to his diary, One by one, they pledged that, if
necessary, they would be arrested again and again (Document C). Hence, the reader can understand
the purpose of the diary. Throughout his diary entry, he explained the success of the boycott. He spoke
of the commitment of the taxi drivers. This made the Montgomery Bus Boycott successful because,
this made the people realize that the African American people would not stop until they get their

As a company that sales beer to adult consumers one would expect parties and young adults to appear

popular with viewers. This commercial is meant for everyone that s able to drink and the slogan at the

pathos, ethos, and have a clear message. This Super Bowl commercial appeared in 2015 after the
famous Puppy Love was adored by million the previous year. A similar concept was used for this
commercial by having a golden retriever puppy and Clydesdale horse. The puppy is attached to the

the bond humans share with each other. The puppy manages to get lost in a trailer believing the horse

Literary Analysis Of The Stranger By Charles Camus
While studying many works of literature, several themes present themselves in in depth readings, such
as the theme of otherness in Albert Camus The Guest . This story centers on a character, an outsider,
who is trying to fit into the society in the story. It may not be the fact that the stranger is different in
looks, culture, or language like it is in this short story, but it is just the fact that they are not the same,
which causes them to be the outsider and fulfill the role of the otherness. As we look through the short
story The Guest , and through the short novel The Stranger , we can see that Albert Camus is working
towards the idea of Otherness and how it can affect societies where the otherness is seen as
undesirable.
Otherness, as defined by Merriam Webster, is the quality or fact of being different. In The Guest and
in The Stranger we are able to see the use of Otherness . The pattern of otherness and trying to find
common ground between the characters is prevalent in Camus works set in Algerian French control.
Daru and the prisoner are the complete opposites of each other culturally, linguistically, and ethnically;
they are set up to be each other s other from the beginning, and yet, they seem to be able to find some
kind of common ground. I am interested in why Camus made it so that these two men, who are
strangers in the beginning, can be seen as comrades near the ending. I will compare these two works
by Camus and find out the purpose of his

and set expectations that students are technology born prodigies. Technology has digitized the

and it s all a matter of understanding of how to interact with the internet. If students don t know how
to properly interact on the internet, of course, parents are going to have their concerns. This leads to
the fearmongering and massive information campaigns over avoiding such issues, which wouldn t be
an issue if covered in school more in depth. In addition, according to Wong, Loewy s concept is not
the first either, University of Pennsylvania English Professor Kenneth Goldsmith launched a course
[in 2015] called Wasting Time on the Internet, where it teaches students how to use technology
appropriately, and use it to their advantage of gaining knowledge, rather than wilting it away with
societal norms. Therefore, digital citizenship becomes vital if technology is to be a part of education,

Research Paper On War On Drugs
The topic I will be discussing is the War on Drugs. I will discuss the War on Drugs in relation to mass
incarceration and to what consequences the War on drugs has caused among people and society itself.
I have always been interested by the War on Drugs. However, slowly realizing, I only knew so much
about the issue. As I further researched I learned what the term, War on Drugs really means. The War
on Drugs is about the prohibition of drugs in society. Therefore, I strongly believe that the Drug War is
a very controversial issue in our society today. Not only does the Drug War affect our neighborhoods
and society in which we live in, but it also has effects on incarceration rates and crime, racial disparity,
and employment.
We have been fighting the War on Drugs since 1971 when President Richard Nixon declared drug
abuse as public enemy number one after receiving a report from two Congressmen that an astonishing
number of Vietnam veterans were addicted to heroin. The height of the Drug War was in the late 1980
s and early 1990 s. (Nixon and the Generation Gap). The War on Drugs caused a significant increase
to the United State prison population from the 1980s to the 1990s. U.S. prisons were filled with about
5.5% of non violent drug offenders in 1980 to about 7.6% in the 1990s (Benson, Escalating the War on
Drugs Causes and Unintended Consequences, p296).
As we know now, the War on Drugs is a very complex issue in our society today. The drug war has its

A glance at the table of contents is enough to show that the sequence of chapters is erratic and closer
inspection reveals that the scope of individual chapters is far wider than appears at first sight.
Philosophic doctrines (which, according to the author, are the basis of the talismanic art), theory of
magic, astronomical, astrological and physical lore, extensive directions for the practice of the art, and
accounts of the peoples by whom it is employed are jumbled together throughout the book, with no
discernible guiding principle. If a systematic arrangement is anywhere perceptible, it is in the
astrological and astronomical material, though even this is far from selfcontained or methodically
ordered. Subjects which belong together are separated (e.g., the geographical sections on pp.171 ff.
and 394 ff.), long, discursive definitions, appearing in unexpected places, further break the sequence
(e.g., pp.78 and 343) . and there is a great deal more to make the reader s task more difficult. This
manner of writing may well be intentional, whether to make the magical sections appear less suspect
by interlarding them with theoretical passages, or to make certain doctrines seem less strange by
administering them in small doses, or to demonstrate the equal validity of the magical and
philosophical material, or for a combination of all three reasons. At all events, a similar method of

Times New Roman Calligraphy
Most people do not take the skill handwriting very seriously. Calligraphy is a subject taught for many
centuries and has adopted by almost every culture. It is a skill that has been around for many centuries
and one that is still used today. Back then, it was a craft that not many people were able to do and was
considered more upper class. Many important documents have been written, using calligraphy, to
signify the document s importance. Even up to this day, calligraphy can be seen almost everywhere;
certificates, diplomas, wedding cards, art, signs, etc. The font used in this paper is Times New Roman,
which is a form of calligraphy that originated from Ancient Roman handwriting. Calligraphy
originates from the Greek word kalligraphia, meaning beautiful writing (Dictoinary.com, 2017). Many

time, Johns Hopkins was the only option in the area for African Americans seeking medical treatment.
(Del Carpio) Henrietta did not have a choice about which hospital to go to seek treatment. Since Johns
Hopkins was the only hospital to treat black people, she could not even make a decision about which
hospital to go to. In bigpictureeducation.com, they exclaim, Henrietta Lacks did receive free health

with free healthcare, she has to travel a distance to receive this care. Nobody knew about the struggles

Argumentative Essay On The Color Purple
According to the Collins Dictionary, the term belittle is when you speak of (something) as less
valuable or important than it really is . When evaluating the given definition, the word something is
key to the topic that will be delivered. This is because The color Purple by Alice Walker exemplifies
the time period between 1910 1940 in which the belittling of women was very common. The word
something stands out because during this time period (1910 1940) women were treated as things and
not human beings, which is why the definition given by the Collins Dictionary represents more
completely the conduct usually men manifested. We can infer that belittling falls into the category of
abuse, mainly because when you abuse of someone, either physically or emotionally, you make the
person feel inferior and powerless. Throughout the novel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Symptoms of Taking Rap Music Music is one of the greatest ways of expressing one s personal
feelings and experiences through the use of story telling. One of the most popular genres of music is
rap or also known as hip hop. Hip hop music has a profound effect, both positive and negative on
many of today s youth which transforms and evolves American culture and society. What started it all
was the origin of gangsta rap , which was popularized by gangster rappers such as Tupac Shakur,
Notorious BIG, Ma$e, Snoop Dogg, and Scarface. These were all rappers who influenced American
culture and made the genre of rap and hip hop more mainstream which captivated many listeners not
only on a local level, but on an international level. However, some of the lyrics that were stated were
not only meaningful, but sometimes controversial in the eye of the general public. Nonetheless, hip
hop music has always had an influence on many generations and their shaping of what we know today
of the modern American society and culture. Early 90 s rap music had a negative influence on
American society due to the vulgar acts and explicit language that was used to describe stories and
other elements of rap. In the late 1980 s and early 1990 s, hip hop only had one tag to itself gangster
rap. Gangster rap was rap music that described the life of a gangster and a criminal who would have

The domestic level of analysis will exemplify the inner workings of the nation by focusing on how the
history, political institutions and society affect the nation in the international setting.
In the 1500s the first settlers settled in an area near the Gulf of Fonseca this territory would later be
known as El Salvador. Soon after the territory was conquered by Spanish rule in 1524 and ruled by
King Charles I of Spain until their independence in 1838 (Background, 2012). Struggling with the new
found independence this new nation was curse with constant revolutions and over turning of
governments (Background, 2012). Situated in the middle of the fresh region called Central America
this sovereign state had neither major resources nor growing economy, whereas other nations had an
industry to depend on once the colonial power leaves this nation was forced to start from scratch.
Start of the twentieth century it seemed like El Salvador finally establishes a viable government and
began building an economy (Background, 2012). Then, the economic crisis of the 1930s occurs and
the international markets plummeted and so did El Salvador. Externally, El Salvador was not a huge
contender in global markets, but internally the social, political and economic environment in El
Salvador was becoming tense and in 1932 the peasant workers in the rural countryside raised up
against the land elites (Benavides, 2008). The

Advanced Technology Research Paper
As the human race advances more towards the future, we are able to discover more about our past and
better preserve our people and culture. Multiple technological advances allow different researchers
and explorers to excavate our past and predict the environmental future. The different types of
technology include an underwater mailbox system , Dropsonde Hurricane Sensors, and the Light
Detection and Ranging technique (LIDAR). In addition, the most advanced technology these hunters
have access to today is the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology. GPR is the most advanced
technology because of it s increased efficency and versitality when exploring ruins and searching for
artifacts.
Ground Penetrating Radar is more efficent for researchers and explorers due to the increased scanning
size, less time spent on manual labor, and the decrease in resources required to explore archeological
sites. NASA scientists compare the GPR technology to that of pushing a lawnmower in ... Show more

The radar can be used to scan underground allowing it to be helpful in underground excavations and
possibly in underwater explorations. In Article Three, an image provided shows the GPR technology
that was used to excavate building remains in Petra, Jordon (De Los Santos, GPR Image). Another
example of underground excavations is the NASA scientists use of GPR in Gordion to excavate tombs
and artifacts, an area which has been occupied for more than 4,000 years. (De Los Santos, 11). A
second versatile option for GPR is progressing the technology to be used by underwater treasure
hunters. A common problem with treasure hunting is Florida s preferation of shipwrecks to remain
undisturbed (Key, 11). However, through the advancement of GPR technology the artifacts could be
identified without disturbing the shipwreck. GPR technology is more versatile due to it s uses both

Abstract Soft skills are the extra or additional intangible skills required by students beyond their
academic skills which are generic in nature across the various domains of learning that encompasses
character and teamwork. These are crucial to increase employability and also to compete successfully
in this dynamic global environment. Soft skills provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And this is also the most undervalued aspect in all educational organizations. But the impact of the
intangible skills of an individual is far more than the impact of the tangible ones. And this can be seen
from many successful people like Abraham Lincoln (Lawyer, U.S. president, finished one year of
formal schooling, self taught himself trigonometry, and read Blackstone on his own to become a
lawyer), Benjamin Franklin, (Inventor, scientist, author, entrepreneur, primarily home schooled),
Frank Lloyd Wright (The most influential architect of the twentieth century. Never attended high
school), Amadeo Peter Giannini, (Multimillionaire, Founder of Bank of America, dropped out of high
school) (Toren, 2012) so many others who either dropped out of school or never had any formal
education. But does their success mean that academic excellence is not required? No! What it
basically shows is that a person having good personal and soft skills can change the problems into
opportunities and deal with the negatives in a more constructive and better way. (Sharma, 2009) These
are not just skills that can be acquired from a college or a school. They are the basic life skills which
help us shape polish our outer veneer. These help to tackle difficult situations and come out with

Knowlton take a simple picture of two birds flying in the sky and computer generated the photography by converting electrical signals into numerical representations on magnetic tape, this then provides a digital version of the photo to be used in computer processing. The photo is divided into fragments where its generated by numbers. The photo is given a density that s shown by different shades of dots that creates the computer generated photograph. In close range, you can see each separate shaded dot which makes up the photo. At 20 30 feet, away from the overall computer generated photograph you are able to conduct the figure that once was an original photograph. The modernist work I chose was A draughtsman drawing a portrait by Albrecht Durer. Albrecht Durer was one of the many modernist yet abstract. I chose this Modernist work because Durer is abstract and he uses perception is a great deal of his art works. Albrecht Durer s artworks were very diverse and vibrant, they also included modern ways of creativity and originality. Durer was a huge example of originality which made his drawing A draughtsman drawing a portrait so spectacular because it had never been seen before. • 4. New City Construction Museum History I recently took a trip to the New York Transit Museum (NYTM) where I discovered many things. First, the museum itself is the Court Street station whose line ceased in June 1946. The station had been abandoned due to slow traffic and remained deserted until the museum opened in 1976. It was fascinating to see the evolution of train cars and turnstiles from its conception in the early 1900s compared to what they are like today. Interestingly, in spite of the progression of train cars, the concept of how the system operated is not much different from how it is done today. The station remained intact since it was abandoned all those years ago. Various effects such as the signs and the tower remained unchanged since its commencement in 1936. Additionally, prior to its use for exhibition, Hollywood took advantage of its desolateness and used it for film production. The taking of Pelham One Two Three was shot at the station. In addition to learning the museum s history, I also learned the subway system was built in 1913. The remaining dynamites used for excavation were on display to demonstrate how tunneling began. Many invasive species including zebra mussels and Asian carp pose a great threat to the water quality of the Great Lakes. • 19. The Process of Gene Expression The process of gene expression is used by all known life known as eukaryotes which include multicellular organisms, prokaryotes like bacteria and Achaea, and viruses which generates the macromolecular machinery for life. Gene expression is what turns on the genes and makes a product. The products made could be an enzyme, a protein, or a control molecule. These products are often proteins, but in non protein coding genes such as mRNA genes or tRNA genes, the product is a functional RNA. The order of gene expression is transcription, RNA processing, then translation. The control of transcription: this is the first step of gene expression when a particular segment of DNA is copied into RNA by the enzyme RNA polymerase and is then a joined mechanism. During transcription, a DNA sequence is read by an RNA polymerase, which produces a corresponding, antiparallel RNA strand called a primary transcript. The order that transcription goes in would start with the initiate transcription from a gene by binding the RNA polymerase to the promoter DNA. A promoter is a region of DNA that initiates transcription of a particular gene. The RNA polymerase then splits the double helix DNA molecule into two nucleotides. When doing this the breaking down of the hydrogen bonds between DNA nucleotides occurs. The RNA and DNA helix s break apart and the new RNA strand is complete. If the cell has a nucleus, it will then be processed again which will then exits to the cytoplasm. During this process a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Literary Analysis Of The Stranger By Charles Camus While studying many works of literature, several themes present themselves in in depth readings, such as the theme of otherness in Albert Camus The Guest . This story centers on a character, an outsider, who is trying to fit into the society in the story. It may not be the fact that the stranger is different in looks, culture, or language like it is in this short story, but it is just the fact that they are not the same, which causes them to be the outsider and fulfill the role of the otherness. As we look through the short story The Guest , and through the short novel The Stranger , we can see that Albert Camus is working towards the idea of Otherness and how it can affect societies where the otherness is seen as undesirable. Otherness, as defined by Merriam Webster, is the quality or fact of being different. In The Guest and in The Stranger we are able to see the use of Otherness . The pattern of otherness and trying to find common ground between the characters is prevalent in Camus works set in Algerian French control. Daru and the prisoner are the complete opposites of each other culturally, linguistically, and ethnically; they are set up to be each other s other from the beginning, and yet, they seem to be able to find some kind of common ground. The War on Drugs is about the prohibition of drugs in society. Therefore, I strongly believe that the Drug War is a very controversial issue in our society today. Not only does the Drug War affect our neighborhoods and society in which we live in, but it also has effects on incarceration rates and crime, racial disparity, and employment. We have been fighting the War on Drugs since 1971 when President Richard Nixon declared drug abuse as public enemy number one after receiving a report from two Congressmen that an astonishing number of Vietnam veterans were addicted to heroin. The height of the Drug War was in the late 1980 s and early 1990 s. (Nixon and the Generation Gap). The War on Drugs caused a significant increase to the United State prison population from the 1980s to the 1990s.
