Viral Hemorrhagic Fever and Ebola Virus Species
What is Ebola hemorrhagic fever? Ebola hemorrhagic fever (Ebola HF) is a severe, often fatal disease
in humans and nonhuman primates (monkeys, gorillas, and chimpanzees) that has appeared
sporadically since its initial recognition in 1976. The disease is caused by infection with Ebola virus,
named after a river in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire) in Africa, where it was
first recognized. The virus is one of two members of a family of RNA viruses called the Filoviridae.
There are five identified subtypes of Ebola virus. Four of the five have caused disease in humans:
Ebola Zaire, Ebola Sudan, Ebola Ivory Coast and Ebola Bundibugyo. The fifth, Ebola Reston, has
caused disease in nonhuman primates, but not in humans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Persons tested later in the course of the disease or after recovery can be tested for IgM and IgG
antibodies; the disease can also be diagnosed retrospectively in deceased patients by using
immunohistochemistry testing, virus isolation, or PCR.
How is Ebola hemorrhagic fever treated?
There is no standard treatment for Ebola HF. Patients receive supportive therapy. This consists of
balancing the patient s fluids and electrolytes, maintaining their oxygen status and blood pressure, and
treating them for any complicating infections.
How is Ebola hemorrhagic fever prevented?
The prevention of Ebola HF in Africa presents many challenges. Because the identity and location of
the natural reservoir of Ebola virus are unknown, there are few established primary prevention
measures.
If cases of the disease do appear, current social and economic conditions often favor the spread of an
epidemic within health care facilities. Therefore, health care providers must be able to recognize a
case of Ebola HF should one appear. They must also have the capability to perform diagnostic tests
and be ready to employ practical viral hemorrhagic fever isolation precautions, or barrier nursing
techniques. These techniques include the wearing of protective clothing, such as masks, gloves,
gowns, and goggles; the use of infection control measures, including complete equipment sterilization;
and the isolation of Ebola HF patients from contact with unprotected

Essay on Parkinson Disease (PD)
Introduction
Parkinson disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized mainly by physical
and psychological disabilities. This disorder was named after James Parkinson, an English physician
who first described it as shaking palsy in 1817 (Goetz, Factr, and Weiner, 2002). Jean Martin Charcot,
who was a French neurologist, then progressed and further refined the description of the disease and
identified other clinical features of PD (Goetz, Factr, and Weiner, 2002). PD involves the loss of cells
that produce the neurotransmitter dopamine in a part of the brain stem called the substansia nigra,
which results in several signs and symptoms (Byrd, Marks, and Starr, 2000). It is manifested clinically
by tremor, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although many theories and hypotheses were raised as to why this happens, there is no solid
information supporting the physiological cause of this, but it is surely one of various factors that may
lead to the development of PD.
Neuroanatomy of the Basal Ganglia It has been known that PD is a disorder affecting the basal
ganglia. The term basal ganglia is generally applied to a collection of nuclei situated deep within the
cerebral hemispheres, lying laterally to the thalamus (Gazzeniga, George, and Mangun, 2008). The
basal ganglia are important subcortical structures. They are composed of five nuclei: caudate,
putamen, globus pallidus, subthalamic nucleus, and substantia nigra. These nuclei are not thought of a
single anatomical entity; rather, they form a functional unity whose contribution is greatly to motor
control. Interestingly, this system does not influence movement through spinal cord pathways, but
rather acts as part of a feedback loop to all areas of the cerebral cortex, with primary input into motor
areas (Aird, 2000). A number of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters are what control this
whole process, and a balance of both is required to ensure that smooth, purposeful movement takes
place. In order to understand the pathways of which the basal ganglia take part in, it is essential to
know the input and output connections of the basal ganglia. The input

Pros And Cons Of The Georgia Colony
Was the Georgia colony a success or failure? While the colony of Georgia was successful in defense
however; charity and economy were a disappointment. In 1732 King George 2 granted a charter by
giving named trustees permission to establish the Georgia Colony. Until 1752 the Georgia Colony had
seen both dark and light moments; some of which include the construction of the settlement, the
establishment of Fort Frederica, as well as declaring war on Spain. The corporation was made to be a
charitable body, so none of the trustees could receive or buy land of their own. Also Because of the
small amount of land everyone on the new settlement received there were several complaints about
going into poverty and not having enough slaves or workers to help establish the colony. James
Oglethorpe and 20 other trustees finally decided that they would do whatever it took to make the
colony a utopian city.
Because Georgia had such a great defense system; it won the battle of bloody marsh; and defeated the
Spanish. This was accomplished by raising the first alarm at fort William, evidence for this is found in
document D, The first alarm was raised by the garrison at Fort William, which successfully kept
several Spanish galleons from entering the inland waterway (Colonial Coastal Fortifications
Document D). At St. Simon s island Oglethorpe led the battle and ultimately conquered the Spanish
even after the Spanish launched a massive assault on Garrison; Georgia held firm and the Spanish

Iroquois Creation Myths
Throughout the world myths are used to teach morals and spread information in a way that is
entertaining and delightful to children and adults alike. One popular type of story is the creation myth.
In the story of The World on a Turtle s Back the Iroquois people live in harmony and balance with
nature, whereas the Cherokee in The story of Corn and Medicine work against nature.
These two myths have many similarities but the most important one is the heavy reliance on the small
creatures in their society. Both in the Iroquois and the Cherokee myths there is a little creature that
helps out tremendously by diving to the bottom of the ocean. In the Iroquois myth it is the muskrat
who, dived and disappeared...After a long time, his little body floated to the surface of the ocean, a
tiny piece of earth clutched in his paw (Iroquois myth). In the Cherokee myth a Water beetle dove
below the water and eventually came back with some mud from below (Cherokee myth). Additionally,
in the Iroquois story there are two sons/brothers and they have profound impact on the world around
them, These two brothers, as they grew up, represented the two ways of the world which are in all
people... the right and left (iroquois myth). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

humans, trying to rid the earth of humans (Cherokee Myth). Also In the Iroquois myth The twins had

The Rise and Fall of the Aztec Civilization Essay
The Rise and Fall of the Aztec Civilization
The Rise and fall of the Aztec Empire is possibly the most important area of study in the modern
world. Of all of the nomadic tribes who migrated into Mexico, the Aztecs were one of the last. At first
driven away by established tribes, the Aztecs slowly began to develop an empire of immense wealth
and power by the late fifteenth century. Due in large part to the accomplishments of their ruler
Itzcoatl, the empire expanded to include millions of people from a number of different tribes,
including the Cempoala, who would later aid the Spanish in defeating the Aztecs. Because of the
melting pot within the empire, the Aztecs had a very diverse culture. However, this immense Aztec
Empire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fearful of the Spanish, and hateful of the wealth and power of the Aztecs, some of the native tribes,
particularly the Cempoala and others from the cities of Tlaxcala and Tezcoca, joined forces with
Cortes. After the Spaniards annihilated the Cholultecas, the terrified people of the Aztec empire did
their best to please them, as the Europeans made their way inland.
By the time Cortes reached Tenochititlan, he had accumulated a large number of allies. Believing that
Cortes was indeed Quetzalcoatl, Montezuma greeted the Spanish as if they were gods. Cortes
responded, We have come to your house in Mexico as friends. There is nothing to fear. Nevertheless,
Cortes kept Montezuma under guard. Instead of resisting, Montezuma did everything he could to
please the Spanish, ordering his servants to supply everything that Cortes requested. Montezuma s
weakness to the Spanish angered many of his followers, who began to lose respect for their king.
Cortes and his men were amazed by the splendor of the Aztec capital. The Spaniards greed would then
lead them to carry out unprovoked attacks on Aztec temples and military leaders. Cortes then had
Montezuma instruct his angry people not to retaliate, declaring that the Spanish were too powerful and
could not be resisted. However, this angered the Aztecs even more, both at the Spanish and
Montezuma. As advanced as the Aztecs were, they were no match for the Spanish forces. The Spanish

The Role Of Faith In The Screwtape Letters By C. S. Lewis
In the novel The Screwtape Letters, C. S. Lewis depicts how Christians have strong reason and faith.
These letters are used to contradict the bible as if god is satin and satin is god. Within the letters, the
patient is supposed to be a Christian man that is being used in an experiment for the dark side.
However, the patient resisted the temptations that the devil threw at him, and is able to beat the devil
by having faith. This is a strong point that the narrator illustrates, because Screwtape is considered like
a devil who is trying to influence his incompetent nephew, Wormwood. Screwtape is very wise, very
subtle and very experienced, his nephew is a less than stellar student when it comes to swaying a
person towards a hellish direction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It allows the patient to imagine that he is not being gluttonous for example only accepting small
amounts of food, he becomes sensual. This sin is cleverly masked by the small portions of food that
are involved. In addition, when the patient says, for example, All I want is a cup of tea... and the
teeniest bit of really crispy toast, the sin of greed is horrible and most of the time unnoticeable when
committed, because it is used to obtain exactly what one wants at any means necessary (Screwtape
88). Also, being picky is a way of hassling to others as it asks them to go out of their way in order to
make something perfect. Moreover, it could jeopardize friendships because perfection can never be
attained, and the disappointment of not getting their way could result in ill tempers toward others.
Furthermore, while gluttony of delicacy may be different than the sin of gluttony, of excess, it
produces querulousness, impatience, uncharitableness, and self concern, counteracting the attempt to
avoid sin in the first place (Screwtape ch17). Screwtape shows subtlety in encouraging gluttony of

The Ethical And Moral Issue
Recent research suggests that human beings have the technology to revert species extinction.
Scientists are able to reassemble the DNA in a dead tissue of extinct animals. However, the DNA is
not perfect because it contains bacteria, fungi, or other micro organism s DNA. Scientists have to find
their closest living relative and reassemble the missing gene to form a hybrid gene. These technique
can potentially bring any extinct animal back as long as we have its DNA. For this new technology,
we will be using the theory of Utilitarianism to examine the ethics behind it. The main ethical and
moral issue comes with the out come of the extinct species enter the wild. Firstly, my view is that
recreated extinct species equals alien species. My definition of alien species is plant, animal, or
microorganism that is not currently living in a place but are transported into the area. This means, all
extinct species are alien species to our current environment if we bring any of them back. They might
be the most abundant species on the area when they were alive, for example, the passenger pigeon was
once the most abundant species in North America. However, once they went extinct, the food chain
and ecosystem began to not depend on their existence. Therefore, the question will be, what happen
when we introduce there extinct species into wild? And does the happiness outweigh the risk? What
might happen when introducing an alien species to an area? For the native species, these alien

Explanation Of Solubility Research
What is solubility? Solubility is a chemical property referring to the ability for a given substance, the
solute, to dissolve in a solvent. (Science Daily, 2014) Solubility occurs around people throughout their
everyday life, and is exemplified through their food and drinks, and even the air that surrounds them.
Solubility is a complex idea that can be understood in a simpler form, i.e., having hot coffee and
adding sugar to it. It appears that the hot coffee melts the salt, but deeper beyond the surface the hot
coffee molecules break apart the sugar molecules; the molecules are broken down, because of the
increase in temperature that causes the molecules to collide harder. The collision is caused by the
faster, vibrating molecules in the solution.
The solute (salt) is the substance that dissolves in the solvent (water) and it depends on a few things:
temperature, volume, type of solvent and concentration. The solubility of most salts can be found on a
solubility curve and it expresses the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second law of thermodynamics is a general principle that expresses how some solutes dissolve in
decreased temperatures, because it places constraints upon the direction of heat transfer and the
attainable efficiencies of heat engines (R Nave). In other words, in all energy exchanges if no energy
enters or leaves the system, the potential energy of the state will always be less than that of the initial
state. (Farabee, 2010) The second law is commonly known as the law of increased entropy, a measure
of unusable energy within a closed or isolated system and it is a system of chaos. (All about science,
2002) The kinetic energy of the solution increases with the temperature and it allows the particles to
slide between each other; It can be understood by imagining a vibrating molecule engulfing a regular
molecule and breaking it

Three Types Of Truth
What is truth? It is a very confusing word since people cannot definitely describe what is identical
truth. Where is the border of lie and truth which makes them different and separates them? People tend
not to tell every detail, and it makes the other party understand situation in a wrong way. For example,
one boy fought with someone in school also fell off stairs at the same time. Afterwards he goes home
and his mother asks him what happened to him? He just tells her that he fell off the stairs however,
this is not the exact truth. Does this kind of situations define truth? Therefore, truth is a mysterious
matter. First of all, Oliver Kim claims that there are three types of trues. Correspondence theory of
truth, coherence theory of truth and the pragmatic theory of truth: Correspondence, states that
proposition is true if it corresponds to (or reflects) reality. If someone mentions that it is snowing (the
proposition), then it is true when we see the snow falling outside. Nonetheless, what is the reality in
this matter? It is true to everyone that human senses can deceive people. Hence, it can be true that
something reality does exists. Furthermore, coherence theory of truth states, a proposition is true if it
is with other things that are considered true . Depending on this idea whether the statement is real or
not is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It interferes to people s daily life, mind and responses. It might have three types however, with it is
existence in logic; it is clearly shows that truth is an essential phenomenon. It is really hard to define
it, understand it and claim what really the truth is. First three paragraphs in forms that depending on
people s mind, state and mentality truth is changing. It usually differs for every person and is always
changeable depending on situation. Nevertheless, everyone accepted three types of truth, and they

How Does Divorce Create Long Term Negative Effects For...
Divorce is one of many controversial subjects in family and human development research. What
inspired me to critically analyze the article Does Divorce Create Long Term Negative Effects for
Children? is the challenge it would be for me to put my bias aside considering I am from a divorced
home. After reading the article and analyzing it over and over, I can t help but think that the writer
answering YES to this controversial question overlooked many variables and over generalized his
findings and research. With Zinsmeister overgeneralizing his research, not considering enough
alternate explanations for long term negative effects divorce, and his lack of relevant information
needed to assess reliability and validity are why I find this article to be insightful but not accurate and
hope to show why.
In the introduction to the article, the authors David Gately and Andrew Schwebel best wrote Karl
Zinsmeister uses studies of children and divorce to argue against the contention made by many parents
that it is better to divorce than to rear children in a marriage with conflict. He maintains that children s
sense of stability and family structure supersedes parental needs. Throughout the article Zinsmeister

Divorce on Children , and A Catalogue of Behavioral Changes as a platform to prove/explain his
opinions and back them by research.

The Daphnia Magna Experiment
Plant compounds play a very important role in the defense of plants and in this experiment the plant
defense compounds of caffeine and Kava kava were tested on Daphnia magna to test if there was a
change in heartbeat of the organism. The purpose of the experiment was to see how these compounds
affected the Daphnia magna. The t values for both the caffeine and Kava kava were calculated to be
1.82 and 1.62, which were both smaller than the obtained t critical value of 2.57. A conclusion was
drawn that there was no statistically significant difference in heart rate after the plant defense
compounds of caffeine and Kava kava were added compared to before they were added.
Introduction: In this experiment two plant defensive compounds, ... Show more content on

Their bodies are encased by an uncalcified shell, carapace, and they can reach lengths of 5mm with a
kidney bean shape (Ebert, 2005). The Daphnia magna live in mostly freshwater environments, but can
live in certain brackish water areas. In comparing males and females the males have smaller body
sizes, larger antennas a modified post abdomen (Ebert, 2005). The Daphnia magna are good test
subjects to assess the effects of the plant defense compounds of caffeine and Kava kava, as they are
easy to care for, inexpensive, and the effects of the compound are easily noted through looking at the
heart rate of the organism under a microscope. This experiment required the use of a two tailed t test
to determine whether there was a difference in heart of the Daphnia magna before and after the plant
defensive compounds (caffeine and Kava kava) were introduced. This test also helps to see if the
difference in the test is statistically significant, which determines if the results obtained occurred by
chance. A t value is obtained to get the probability value and as the t value increases it signifies a
larger meaningful difference between the two groups (Blanar, 2017) and as it decreases the opposite
happens. If a t value is smaller than the t critical value the null hypothesis is accepted, but if the
obtained t value is larger than the t critical value the null hypothesis is rejected. A p value is also
important for this experiment, as it is the probability the null hypothesis is correct. The null hypothesis
for this experiment was that there was no difference in the Daphnia magna heart rate after the plant
defense compounds (caffeine and Kava kava) were added compared to before, while the alternative
hypothesis generated was that there is a difference in the Daphnia magna heart rate after the plant
defense compounds (caffeine and Kava kava) were added compared

Brian s Hunt By Gary Paulen Character Analysis
My favorite character in Brian s Hunt, by Gary Paulsen, is Brian. He is my favorite because he is
caring, brave, and is very self sufficient. Also at a young age, Brian has learned many survival and life
skills, although because of the time he has spent in the woods I feel that he became more anti social
and more introverted. Throughout the story, Brian mainly communicates with two other characters,
one which is an unnamed dog and the other a Cree girl named Kay gwa daush. Due to Brian being in
the woods, most of the characters are animals and Cree Indians. From my perspective, the bear is the
antagonist because it has wounded the dog and several other people. Also, I also believe that the
antagonist role is portrayed by the environment because

Social Movements Of Canada And Ghana
Social movements are everywhere. However, the transformation and publicity this particular
movement has received is admirable. During the Summer of 2015, BLM publicly challenged
politicians, including those in the 2016 U.S presidential elections. A drawback of the movement is that
it is decentralized and does not have the funds or people with enough power to enforce a formal
structure and hierarchy within its network. One successful method the protestors employed to have
their voices heard is the staged demonstrations at numerous malls across the United States on Black
Friday, which is undeniably, a wisely chosen date to reach and spread such messages in public to as
many people as possible. Besides the U.S, there are several BLM chapters in Canada and Ghana. The
movement has also expanded beyond street protests, such as college campuses who have taken part
including the University of Missouri protest in 2015. The simple hashtag is a significant way to reach
thousands of people efficiently and rapidly, however, the movement has comprised a variety of tactics
to have their voices heard. Not only have they held marches and rallies, they have formed die ins also
known as lie ins , which is a form of protest where protestors feign being dead. Furthermore, they use
several powerful slogans such as White silence is violence , Is my son next? and Hands up, don t shoot
. The most notable protests and demonstrations is without doubt, the 2016 Presidential elections, the

The Seagull Symbolism
In the play, The Seagull by Anton Chekhov, the main characters Constantine Treplieff, Nina
Zarietchnaya and Boris Trigorin are entangled in a love triangle. Treplieff is an aspiring writer who
writes plays about dead characters, which contributes to their failure. He lives in the shadow of his
famous actress mother Irina Arkadina and her successful boyfriend Trigorin. Nina is a young aspiring
actress who is also searching for acceptance. Her father and stepmother disapprove of her acting
career. Lastly, Trigorin as mentioned before, is a successful writer and the boyfriend of Arkadina. He
ultimately has an affair with Nina. The main symbolism in the play is an actual seagull, which is a bird
that lives near the sea. In Chekhov s The Seagull, the symbol of the seagull is used to represent Nina
Zarietchnaya because of her sense of freedom and security at the lake, her destruction of Constantine
Treplieff s heart and her own destruction under Trigorin and their love affair. The symbol the seagull
represents Nina, but the symbol changes meaning throughout the play. In Act One, Nina is the seagull
by the way she s drawn to the lake during her youth. She says, My father and his wife never will let
me come here; they call this place Bohemia and are afraid I shall become an actress. But this lake
attracts me as it does the gulls. My heart is full of you (9). The seagull embodies freedom and a sense
of security. Nina also says, That was my dead mother s home. I was born there,

the website was able to recommend this subject to me. The more I learned about it the more it fit the
interest I have in creating new aspects of art. Art reflects a lot of a persons imagination, but making

On each side of the valley there are a series of rows that have five holes each (or more, depending on
the breadboard you have). Each of the holes in each one of the rows is connected together, so putting
wires in that row is like twisting them all together. 2. Start with the 555 timer chip. Look at the top of
the chip (pins pointing away from you). Do you see the small indentation at one end, or a small dot in
one corner? If your chip has the indentation, hold it so that the indentation is up. The upper left corner
is called pin 1. Counting down the left side will be pins 1, 2, 3, and 4. Go back up the right side,
starting with the lower right corner. The pins on that side are 5, 6, 7, and 8. Pin 1 is opposite 8, 2 is
opposite 7, 3 is opposite 6, and 4 is opposite 5. Knowing which pin is which is critical to making your
circuit work. If your chip has a single embossed dot instead of an indentation, that dot is pin 1.
Proceed with the pin numbering as is explained in step 2.a. 3. Plug the chip into the breadboard near
the middle. If it does not immediately plug into the board, gently squeeze the pins closer and try again.

Ancient Egypt. In this time period, the jars were still used to store the viscera during mummification
for dead men with wish of revival after deaths.
Ancient Egyptians from the Old Kingdom through New Kingdom and later on Late Period or

were unable to return to their bodies. Therefore they preserved the physical bodies that were

abortion annually (Negedu, 2011). pregnancies are either mistimed or unwanted among adolescents.
Studies in the past have Indicated that, lack of adequate sexual and reproductive health knowledge
may possibly represent a key factor preventing the complete elimination of unwanted pregnancies, and
unsafe induced abortion among adolescent girls in Nigeria. According to Ipas(2005) unplanned
pregnancies are the result of various factors, including lack of knowledge about menstruation and
pregnancy, lack of access to, and knowledge about how to use contraceptives; difficulties in using
contraceptives because of a partner s or family objections; contraceptive failure; and sexual assault.
Also, adolescents may more often delay seeking care for abortion related complications due to lack of
transportation, lack of knowledge about where post abortion care can be obtained, fears of censure
from their parents and health care providers, fear of legal repercussions, or lack of money to pay for
services (Ipas, 2005). This may be particularly so in rural communities where access to basic in

Why Is The Great Gatsby Bad
The Tragic Essay Is there such a thing as running away from your problems, and right back to money?
Well there is an excellent book named The Great Gatsby written by F.Scott Fitzgerald, which was a
tragic ending that gives evidence on this topic. In the story, Nick the Narrator meets with his cousin
Daisy and her husband Tom at New York; however Tom is having an affair with a woman named
Myrtle. Daisy has an affair with a man named Gatsby. Gatsby is rich and throws parties seeking for
Daisy, the one he loves. So Nick is noticing all of this rising from the ground. In summary, Daisy and
Gatsby are in a car driving, and idiotic Myrtle jumps in front of them and gets hit. Daisy drove away
and Gatsby was blamed, so George the husband the husband of Myrtle retaliates and shoots Gatsby in
the chest. Gatsby dies and no one comes to his funeral not even Daisy the one he loved. So people like
Tom and Daisy are great examples of running from your problems, and go straight to their money.

Rusticiano s The Travels Of Marco Polo
Marco Polo, born into a family of silk stocking merchants, was provided with an opportunity to
gallivant across sweeping landscapes, rigid mountainous terrain, and paths rife with plunderers. His
book, The Travels of Marco Polo, was conceived in a prison cell thanks to the fastidious efforts of an
Italian romance writer, Rusticiano, who had earlier written Roman de Roi Artus. It is through this
book that little of Polo s past is disclosed; he lived alone with his mother where he received an
education encompassing mercantile commerce until her death where other family would care for him.
His father inevitably returned on a mission to escort Christian missionaries back to Kublai Khan only
to find out that the pope had passed alongside his wife. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is here that he believes the supernatural participated in the deaths of many travelers who braved the
merciless wrath of the desert. His indulgence in these otherworldly superstitions involves the spirits
[filling] the air with the sounds of all kinds of musical instruments, and also of drums and the clash of
arms, which scientists have eagerly refuted. The haunting sound of drums is a phenomenon of... [a]
certain [situation] among sand hills when the sand is disturbed, which is a far more logical explanation
than spirits dabbling in music. Haunting recounts such as these illustrate to readers that Polo was not
entirely a reliable storyteller as he failed to acknowledge other sources for the noises. That doesn t
discredit his book, but shows that during this time period there were not many scientific explanations
for what appears to be spiritual occurrences. Another example of Polo not being the most reliable
storyteller is how he exaggerates numbers. However, the embellishments do reflect information that
had been given to Marco by others rather than his own tendency to overstatement; meaning that Polo
himself did not necessarily conjure up quantities to aggrandize his book. This begs the question,
though: is there any harm exaggerating in the first place? It was already aforementioned that this book
did not intend an academic environment, but more so impart the experience Polo gained and the sights
he saw. If he did embellish numbers, it only helps facilitate his narrative and draw more attention to
the East, which at this time Europe did not much interest in. Polo, even if his travels were fabricated
and his facts nonsensical, still aided in the sundering of Europe s foreign ignorance. He fanned the
flames of curiosity and invoked a desire to future Europeans to engage in Eastern interactions. When
he returned to his hometown, he was donned with the treasures

Fall Prevention In The Elderly Essay
Quality Improvement for Fall Prevention in the Elderly
The occurrence of falls among the elderly is related to multiple factors, such as inherent and external
issues. Studies have proven that when appropriate intervention is put in place, falls are preventable. A
quality improvement according to Polit Beck (2012) is created to examine the willingness of
individuals to understand these studies and put them into practice or to appraise the results of
interventions already in place. This paper will examine a practice issue facilitated by the advanced
practice nurse (APN), explore the theoretical underpinning of change, describe an improvement tool
and model for improvement and allocated resources towards the prevention of fall among the elderly.
Selected Practice Issue
The occurrence of falls in older adults are common and can result in serious injuries, even death.
Owing to multifaceted changes in the aging, falls and related injuries are rampant in the healthcare
settings. Moreover, the decline in the involvement and inspirational level of older adults in fall
prevention measures continues to be a challenge. Hence, increasing the motivational level of this older
populace in fall preventive plans is of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The outcomes are revisit, reevaluation of current intervention methods and policies and in most cases,
changes to set protocols are implemented. To improve the quality of life and reduce frailty among this
older populace, the APN systematically reviews and assess each individual upon admission process
and identifies older adults at risk. These risk factors are disseminated to the healthcare team members
who ensure that interventions are in place and implemented as ordered. The eventual objective of
RCA, of course, is to avert imminent harm by eradicating the oblivious errors that continues to trigger

The Controversy Of Animal Experimentation
Animal testing is also known as animal experimentation is the act of testing drugs, chemicals,
cosmetics and acid on animals such as; dogs, cats, rats, mice, ferrets, hamsters and monkeys for many
purposes. Today I will be focusing on cosmetics. Cosmetic companies create makeup, lipstick,
foundation, blush, highlighters etc. All of these products are tested on animals before use on humans
and I believe that this is wrong and should be banned in all countries.
Firstly, animals have been tested on for the past decades. According to P.E.T.A (peta.org 2015
statistics) article it is stated that each year over 100 million animals such as; dogs, cats, rats, mice,
ferrets, hamsters and monkeys are killed in U.S Laboratories for many reasons including ... Show

A human body and an animal body are not the same. According to the HSI (Humane Society
International), different species react differently to different chemicals and powders used in cosmetics
and what an animal might experience or react to is not the same as a human. This proves that animal
testing is unreliable and wasteful. Animal testing is also very expensive. The US National Institute of
Health spends about $14 billion out of its $31 billion budget on animal testing and research proving to
be very costly and inefficient for research or production in other areas.
Many people might say that animal testing has proven results for the safety of beauty products and
cosmetics. Although, in some cases it is helpful, why would you want to use such an old outdated
method of research in 2017 many more methods have opened up due to advanced technology. Animal
testing dates back to the 1900 s and yet in the 21st century companies are still doing this even though
it is more costly than alternative methods.
In conclusion, animal testing is unreliable, expensive and inhumane to our beloved animals around the
world. I believe that governments should fully ban animal testing. Earth was created for all us, not

The Alienation of Emily Grierson
In William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily , a woman of noble origin, Emily Grierson, finds herself alone
isolated in a small town in the Old South. The isolation is not only a result of the townspeople s
perception of Emily s status in the community, but also as a result of their pity towards her. Emily,
herself, is also to blame for the separation she experiences from the rest of the town. This ominous
alienation that some individuals encounter can sometimes lead to horrible, and even, disgusting
behavior, as in Emily s case. In A Rose for Emily , Faulkner shows how the alienation felt by Emily
Grierson caused by the townspeople, the death of her father, and her own self, enables her to commit
an act of grotesqueness. Emily s feeling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the closest person Emily could call a friend. (5) Faulkner does not clarify exactly how Mr. Baron died.
The reader is left wondering if it was indeed Emily herself that killed him with the arsenic she
purchased from the drugstore, or if his death was due to another cause. Either way, the tragedy of his
death was enough to send Emily deeper into her alienated thoughts and further into her own secluded
madness. A Rose for Emily reveals how an otherwise, ordinary individual can grow increasingly
separated from the social world around them, and become subsequently alienated from logical thought
and reasonable actions. Due to the standoffishness of the townspeople and Emily s superior than thou

Essay on The Terri Schiavo’s Case Analysis
The Terri Schiavo s Case Analysis When a patient is unable to make decisions for himself or herself,
their caregivers and those who know them are appointed to make the decisions based on what the

The story of Terri brings about many questions that represent ethical, moral and legal issues. Such

family conflict. If I had to make the decision on what to do in Terri Schaivo s case I would do what
Michael Schiavo had done, I would fight to have the feeding tube removed. I believe that if a person
has no quality of life and is in a PVS state, they have no feelings, they feel no pain, and they are not
aware of their surroundings. According to the article Terri Schiavo and End of Life Decisions Terri
could not continue both to be alive and be free from invasive medical procedures (Mathes, 2005) I feel
keeping them alive is unfair to them and to their loved ones. I also believe that the surrogate decision
maker should follow the best interest standard, which is, given the medical facts and prognosis, make
decisions that would be in the best interests of the patient. (Hook Mueller, 2005) There was a lot of
evidence and proof from the doctors in regards to the fact that Terri was not going to get better, there
were no medical interventions left that could help her. Prolonging treatment for Terri would not have
changed her quality of life or made it better. In my opinion, Michael Schiavo acted properly as a
surrogate decision maker because first of all, he followed her previously spoken wishes and views
and, second of all, he acted in her

Why I Hate Being Complacent Essay
I hate being complacent. I try to fight complacency in all aspects of my life from academics to my
sport of ultimate. Academically, complacency is the difference between putting in the time and effort
to study for a test and shrugging it off with a simple it ll be fine. Playing ultimate complacency looks
like not doing another set of dead lifts or accepting a poor decision as acceptable just because it
happened to result in a goal because it ll work itself out. One of my main goals for this school year is
to rid my life of these complacencies. And, honoring this commitment, I have been doing my work
more thoroughly and not just at the last minute and have been pushing myself to become faster and
smarter as an ultimate player. But even with this resolution to be better I am still complacent in those
aspects of my life and will continue to be imperfect as long as I continue to be human. But, as I have
learned throughout my time at Carleton, more specifically this term (and even more specifically the
second half of this term) I am complacent in the way I view justice in this country. There are powerful
forces that shape our criminal justice system that I have always vaguely known existed and have
always vaguely understood that they are inherently and systematically racist. And even hearing the
facts and numbers, my favorite things, on how racist our country is I chose to be indifferent. I knew
that one in three black men will be incarcerated during their life time while

process. Now loop the bottom yarn over all around the loom. To continue knitting, wrap around all the
pegs again from the begging on the beg right above the anchor peg and then bring the bottom yarn
loop over the top of the peg again. Once there is about an inch or two of stitches done, take the yarn of
the anchor peg so that it is not pulling as the project is continued. About fifteen rows need to be

Step 5: Knitting the brim
After knitting a few rows, fold them over so there is a doubled over bit of knitting. This makes the hat
look more finished and also helps keep the hat in place on the head. To knit the brim, bring up the tail
from the initial part of the hat and loop it around to the right of the anchor peg. Put the loops all the

Developing A Competitive And International Business...
To begin with, Scholes, Johnson and Ambrosini (1998) explained strategy as the direction of a firm for
the long term which accomplishes benefit for the firm through its allocation of resources within a
dynamic environment to meet markets requirements and to achieve stakeholder expectations.
Furthermore, Kelly and Zaman (2014) noted that strategies are strongly impacted by the environment
of a firm. It is recommended that the strategies also implicate considerations about organization s
internal factors and include choices about structure, technology and other factors. Both planned and
emergent approaches must be studied under the progressively change, highly competitive and
international business environment. External forces are driving companies to cut costs, improve
processes and recognize new opportunities for growing. This paper will define and compare emergent
and planned approaches to strategy formulation, and explain how utilizing organizational resources
and capabilities play a key role in creating competitive advantage. Some valuable tools such as Porter

evaluated. Apple company was selected to exemplify those aspects. Brief of Apple Company Based on

Kevin Smith Film Techniques
To get the level enjoyment I got out of this film, you really need to be a Kevin Smith fan. Which I
really am, having seen all of his films save one. That one being Tusk, the precursor to this film and the
first film in the True North trilogy. Though I m more than aware of its story enough to know that they
aren t related. With exception of overlapping characters. So, you can jump right in without missing to
much, if really anything at all. I m not sure what it is about Kevin Smith s writing, but I can always get

Communication In Maniac Mageee
In the book, Maniac Magee, Jerry Spinelli uses descriptive details, dialogue, actions, and thoughts to
develop one of the main characters, Amanda Beal. I am Amanda Beale. I like to communicate. I
personally think I am very good at it. I have three brothers one sister. I love books especially
encyclopedias. I hope that you will let me teach at John T Baker Middle School. One quality that I
have that would be good for this job is being able to communicate well. For one I communicate well
with others. I speak with confidence and reason, depending on how the person is acting or the
situation. For example once I had to say this to a person that was being a bully I got a little brother and
a little sister that crayon all over my books, and I got a dog that eats them and poops on them and that
s just inside my own family, and I m not gonna have nobody else messing with my books! Even
though I am clearly mad in this case I still spoke with confidence I spoke clearly and I had evidence
for the situation I was in. Another example of me being communicating well is once I found my friend
Maniac is a buffalo pen at the zoo late at night in the west side of town. I had to convince him to come
home. This is what I told him you do not have a choice. I am not asking you. I m telling you. You are
coming home with me, and you are going to sleep in my room, which is going to be your room and I
don t care if you sleep on the floor or the windowsill or what but you are going to sleep there and not
here. As you can see I am talking to Maniac about the fact that he will come with me and that he will
not sleep in the buffalo pen. I spoke clearly stated my claim and told him what needed to be done. His
shows that if I need something to get done I will communicate with the person. Finally I think I m
communicative because in my life I have probably gone through many stages. One of these stages was
taking baths with my brothers. When I finally grew out of it I had to tell them, communicate with
them. This is what happened Then came a day when Amanda entered fourth grade, and she decided
she was getting too old to tub it with her little brother and sister. This shows that Amanda decided to

company: greater, perhaps, was his desire to build a better organization one that was both more
productive and more fun than what he considered to be typical in American business. He was tired of
the politics and the beat them and they ll do more management styles he had seen all his professional
life. He was tired of what he called the deadening grind and lack of vision of T.I. s business style. He
wanted to design a new kind of airline, one that would provide both better and cheaper service, and be
an exciting and rewarding place to work. The focus of the company would be on people: hence its
name, People Express. From its inception, therefore, PE was seen as a chance by Burr and his
management team to experiment with and demonstrate a better way of managing not just an airline,
but any business. While Burr recognized his stance was contrary to the majority of organizations in

Review Of Genome-Wide Analysis Of Trx Family In Cotton...
Discussion
This work provides the first report on genome wide analysis and characterization of TRX family in
cotton genomes. We found that there are 150 genes in Gossypium hirsutum, 92 genes in Gossypium
arboreum and 81 genes in Gossypium Ramondii. According to domain number, GhTRX genes divided
into five subfamilies (TRX A, TRX B, TRX O, TRX ERp29 and TRX TPR_1_2).This result is in
agreement with previous study in other species such as rice, Arabidopsis and sorghum(Choi, Jeong,
Kende, 2004). In addition, the majority of TRX genes in upland cotton belonging to subfamily TRX A

Depending on events, evolutionary origin of the GhTRX genes might undertake 2 evolutionary stages;
last 0.31 and 1.08 mya. Evolutionary in G. hirsutum happened after rice and Arabidopsis. There
were10 duplicated pairs in rice Thioredoxin gene family, its Evolutionary origin might undertake 3
evolutionary stages; events were ranged from 9 to 70 MYA (Ref) whereas the genome of the ancestor
of Arabidopsis underwent a duplication event about 24 40 MYA, shortly after the divergence from the
cotton ancestor. Approximately 14% of paralogous pairs remain up to date (Meyer et al., 2005). In
general duplication of GhTRX happened after OsTRX and ATTRX and the number of genes
duplicated was lower than in rice and Arabidopsis; this May be due to loss of most paralogues (Ref).
GhTRX A subfamily was largest amongst GhTRXs subfamilies; agreeing with previous study in rice,
Arabidopsis and sorghum (Chibani, Wingsle, Jacquot, Gelhaye, Rouhier, 2009). High number of TRX

Is The Internet Making Us Lazy Research Paper
Isn t it ironic that the internet has negative effects on us? Shouldn t the internet be making us smarter
and more intelligent? How the internet affects us depends on the way we use it. There are different
ways we use the internet but it is mainly for help on something. There is a cheating kind of help and a
research kind of help. Using the internet to copy answers for homework leads to misuse and therefore
has a negative effect on us. However, using the internet for research for a project is helpful: people
actually learn something. Even though the internet may tend to have more negative than positive
effects, both contribute to the changing sociological effects caused by the internet.
Since people are using the internet more than ever, it leads to a loss of focus on other tasks such as

Hag Seed Analysis
Unexpected occurrences take place that are negative, and these might be things which one does not
have control over. Authors often use internal struggles as a mental imprisonment that one much
conquers in order to achieve their full potential. In Hag Seed, Felix is backstabbed, kicked out of his
job as the director of the Makeshiweg theater festival, and put on his journey to prove to those who
betrayed him that they were wrong but most importantly he has to show himself that he can overcome
the harsh obstacles of failure and rejection. The psychotic break Felix suffers after his termination, and
Miranda s death, motivates him to direct The Tempest, which ultimately heals him.
With the acceptance that his career, in his mind, is over, Felix leaves the theater and consumed with
revenge. Humiliated, he retreats from society. Alone in a tiny hut, he mourns his lost little girl,
Miranda, who died not long before he was ousted from his position, and he plots his revenge on his
replacement, Tony Price. Refusal to tackle the situation head on leads to a path of self wallowing.
Felix s mind is clouded with possibilities of how he can hurt Tony because forgiving takes more work
and effort. He starts to realize that his spying is a little deranged, though only a little (Atwood 44).

Georgia O Keefe is a famous American painter who painted beautiful flowers and landscapes. But she
painted these images in such a way that many people believed she was portraying sexual imagery. O
Keefe s depictions of flowers in strict frontality and enlarged to giant scale were entirely original in
character . . . the view into the open blossoms evoked an image of the female psyche and invited erotic
associations. (Joachimides 47) O Keefe denies these allegations and says that she magnified the scale
of the flower only to ensure people would notice them. (Haskell 203) O Keefe s artwork was

When she began creating beautiful artwork in school and was being commended by other teachers and
students, she gained an incredible sense of self worth and put her painful childhood in the back of her
mind. (19) She grew up to be a very strong, independent person and she did not care if she was
judged, as long as she liked who she was. As a result of her father leaving when she was young, she
felt that males were not good enough for her and she developed a strong sense of feminism. In fact, for
awhile, Georgia explored her sexuality and dated predominantly women for a significant part of her
life. This factor did effect her painting, but not in a sexual way. She painted images that were close ups

was afraid to be hurt again. Georgia s non traditional lifestyle did affect her life, but did not force her
to create sexual female images. It may be more accurate to read her drawings as intimations of a less
literal and more profound view of reality. (Peters 29)
Georgia grew up in a time where people still had little respect for women. A woman s role was to stay

jealous Commodus decides to fight Maximus in the colosseum himself. Before the fight Commodus
fatally stabs Maximus in the side. Maximus still fights Commodus and ends up killing him, but dies
later from the stab wound in his side. Maximus is then buried with the figurines of his wife and son at

Most of this movie is fictional. Commodus did not kill his father. He took the throne as a teenager, had
a wife, and was very strong and good in battle. He ruled for 13 years, rather than a short period like in
the movie. Commodus did not die in the arena either, he died in the bath from being strangled. The
producers tried to put a spin on the actual events by putting in a fictual character (Maximus) and
adding in fictional events to make it something more of the own rather than just a

Rivers And Tides By Andy Goldsworthy Analysis
In the documentary Rivers and Tides Andy Goldsworthy describes Art as a form of nourishment
saying, I need it. For him, Art is life. Andy Goldsworthy travels from one beautiful place to another,
he familiarizes himself with the area, and the natural material provided to him in which to make art.
Be it the manipulation of ice into a sculpture attached to a rock, or blades of grass delicately connected
to one another, hanging from a tree.
Andy Goldsworthy appreciates the natural flow of a river, the force of a tide coming in. He respects
the changes of a location changing by the season, or the growth of trees. The change that may come
with livestock populating an area, or the change that comes with human interaction.
Wall for example; snakes its way through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He observes his creation; and before the temporary creation, like life itself dissolves, or fades to
nothing he captures it on camera. These photographs are the only evidence to support the beauty of
what once existed. Aside from his incredible creations, I appreciate his permanent record of these
creations with his use of photography.
Photography for me as an art form provides a way in which to visit other people, and places without
leaving my home. It allows me to witness the world and fall in love with different areas of the world.
It is also one of the most concrete ways in which to prove the exists of an object, place, or person. A
photograph, without alterations is a record of what is and what was.
A man may recognize himself in his father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncles faces, men who
no longer exist. Photographs provide evidence of their lives, and the changes through time. As
someone who enjoys studying people, and culture, the art of Photography has capture moments of
absolute joy, the birth of a child, marriage, birthday celebrations. It can be evidence of war crimes, and

Analysis of The Film Lone Survivor
Based on a true story, the movie Lone Survivor features four Navy SEALs that set out on a mission to
Afghanistan with orders to capture and kill Taliban leader Ahmad Shah. The Navy SEALS are
detected by villagers and the mission was compromised. Ultimately, the mission had been discovered
and the men found themselves surrounded by dozens of Taliban soldiers. One of the Navy SEAL
soldiers managed to dispatch to base and retrieve assistance but the Taliban shoot down the helicopter.
During battle, three of the Navy SEAL soldiers were killed leaving one still alive. Director Peter Berg
based this movie off of Marcus luttrell the survivor of Operation Red Wings. This powerful war film
features actor Mark Walberg who portrays the real life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second scene of socializing is when the SEAL team introduces new members into the group. In
the movie, character Shane Patton recited a pledge to the former Navy SEALs that expresses the
mission statement that Navy SEALs live by. If a new member is able to cite this mission statement it
shows a lot about the individual s character and becoming part of the elite team. An example of social
interaction seen in the film is found mid way through the film. AAfghan village live by the
Pakhtunwali code, meaning if anyone from that village takes in an individual that community will
fight tell the death for that person. In Marcus Luttrell s case this afghan villagers took him in and
cared for his wellbeing. Senior Taliban leader found out that the village was protecting him and tried
bribing the community with money to give up the soldier. The village s spiritual values helped to keep
Marcus Luttrell alive and send him back to the United States. In this part of the film it is interesting to
see the diversity in Afghanistan and the different views the people live by. Some will go out of their
way to protect someone they have never met before. Mohannad Gulab, the person who saved Luttrell
has a very close relationship with him. Although there is a language Barrier between the two, both say
they can still understand what each other is trying to say because they share a special bond.
Occasionally, Gulab comes to America to visit

Hair Research Papers
Unwanted facial and body hair can be a source of distress for both men and women. Since the early
1990 laser has become a widely accepted and a safe method for treatment of excessive hair growth
provided it is done by trained hands. Excerpts from the talk with Dr.Anshul Jain , M.D. (Skin)
regarding myths about Laser Hair Removal.
Q:Which is the best technology for laser hair reduction [LHR]?
A: All over the world, Diode lasers are the gold standard for Laser Hair Reduction. There are other
different lasers available like Nd:YAG and IPL but none meets the results as seen with Diode lasers.
Q:Is Laser Hair Removal painful?
A: There are systems which offer virtually painless hair removal, like SUPRANO PROTM from
ALMA LASERS, world s first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Q: Is the treatment very costly?
A: No, it is much more economical in long run when compared with use of hair removing cream or
waxing.
Q: How many sessions will be needed?
A: Six is the AVERAGE number of sessions. Depending on your skin type, hormone fluctuations, and
your own individual hair growth cycles, you may require more sessions.
Q: What are the expected results?
A: Most patients experience an 80 90% reduction in the amount of hair in a given area; it may be 90
99% for underarms and pubic areas. Normally there are just a few very fine hairs that are left.
Q: How frequent the treatment sessions are?
A: The gap between two sessions is 3 6 weeks. Hair grows in three stages and we try to synchronize
the hair growth to treat as many hairs as possible with each laser treatment. All hair are not growing at
the same time. Anagen, stage of hair growth, is most susceptible to the laser treatment as it absorbs
more energy because it contains more pigment than the other surrounding hair.
Q: Can all areas of the body be treated with the laser?
A: Yes, with the exception of the eyelashes due to the proximity of the

market has done its best to compete with their foreign competitors. However, the foreign automobiles

Essay on Failure of the Schlieffen Plan
Failure of the Schlieffen Plan
The aim of the plan was to avoid having to fight two was at the same time (France and Russia). The
plan was devised by Alfred Von Schlieffen. His plan was to attack France, not on the main border,
which was strongly fortified, but to attack through Belgium and circle the Paris by going to the west of
it, not east. He predicted this should take 6 weeks leaving enough time to go to the eastern front at
Russia and fight there. The plan was very precise and accurate but when it was put into action there
were changes, which led to the Germans failing to capture France.
The first change was made by Moltke (Schlieffen s successor). He decided that they would not ...

The Belgians also stopped supplies and reinforcements, and destroyed their railways.
One of the great ideas about the Schlieffen Plan was that the army invading France was so large and
strong. However, when Russia recovered unexpectedly in 10 days (not six weeks as the Germans
expected) the German leaders worried and many troops were transported to the Eastern front,
weakening the blow to France. By now they were very behind schedule.
The consequences were bad for the Germans. France was sending troops to the frontier at the North
and even more importantly, Britain had joined the war. They had promised to protect Belgium
(because they were worried about being attacked on their coast) and also they did not want Germany
to dominate Europe. Britain sent the BEF (British Expeditionary Force) under Sir John French. The
army of 100,000 soldiers arrived in Belgium on the 17th August. The Germans, who had hoped the
British would not join, were now forced to fight them at the Battle of Mons. The British retreated to
the French armies.
The German Armies were now moving south. The right wing was moving towards the west of Parris.
However, Von Kluck was worried about the spread out nature of the German armies. Also the Belgian
delays meant that the armies were tired and supplies were stretched. Therefore, he decided to go east
of Parris. This violated Schlieffen s

Suicide Terrorism And Terrorism
As President Abraham Lincoln once stated, The government of the people, by the people, for the
people... This illuminates the role of all Liberal and Democratic governments. In Liberalism and
Democracy, the government derives its power from its citizens and is supposed to represent their
needs and desires. The purpose of government is to protect individuals and their rights. Furthermore,
the more relevant and problematic the social and political issues are within a country, the more
imperative it is for the government to establish policies to remedy the issues. According to Pape, this
is the underlying philosophy of terrorist organizations and what ultimately fuels terrorism. Extremist
groups seek to instill fear among citizens to prompt the governments to adopt policies that the
extremists desire. The key premise of Dying to Win is that terrorism is not irrational, but rather just
one among a number of political strategies. Terrorist organizations are guided by the aspiration to
achieve a particular goal; to expel a foreign army from their territory and to instill fear in societies
around the world to prevent a military invasion.
Suicide Terrorism is strategic and deliberate as evident through three main properties and not through
irrational behavior or religious fanaticism. Timing, nationalist goals, and target selection are three
universal patterns supported by data in which suicide terrorism can be deemed a tactical phenomenon.
Suicide attacks are organized and

Horror Scene In Psycho
As a person who dislikes horror, I don t typically watch horror films, especially modern horror films.
However, after watching the small clip of Psycho in class, it peaked my interest to further understand
the characters, in particular, Norman Bates character. In the film Psycho, the recurring theme is a more
psychological and can be demonstrated throughout the film but in particular, the parlor scene and the
end scene at the jail. One of the most revealing moments of the psychological aspect of horror in this
film is the scene which includes Norman Bates and Marion Crane sharing dinner in his office parlor.
On the surface, it s a dialogue between two characters which reveals some backstory information
about Norman and is an epiphany moment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The shower scene is a greatly crafted scene that truly captivates the death of Marion and the
introduction to the mysterious murder at Bates Motel. This scene starts with Marion making
calculation on the money she spent then leading her to shower. During this shower and prior to the
killing, we receive a total of two power shots of the shower head running. This is a quite odd, but truly
meaningful. When Marion is about to be murdered we receive a panned shot which includes Marion
showering and a mysterious figure walking closer and closer to her. This then prompts Leigh s famous
scream, now a key element for horror films. The thing that really makes this scene scary is the scoring
which initiates just as the killer slides the shower curtain open. The scoring switches from a very high
pitched to a more low toned sound. I absolutely love the scoring at this instant because no matter how
many times I watch it, the scene always makes me jump and clench back in fear. After Marion drops
to the floor, we get moving shot that leads to the drain, slowly zooming in and then switching to
Marion s eye eventually capturing her whole head. What I found the most intriguing about this scene
is the fact that they show her eye open, looking almost bead like. After watching the parlor scene and
based on some research I did on taxidermy, when you stuff an animal, you usually add beads to
replace their eyes because

Chicago Medical Malpractice
Just because of a medical malpractice, what could have been a grand moment in your life could turn
into a total disaster for you. A problem with a newborn arising from gross negligence on the part of the
health care provider could be classified under medical malpractice. The right recourse is necessary to
be taken by those affected by such malpractice issues, and getting a Chicago birth injury lawyer may
get you through this painful litigation process. Just like in any other lawsuit, it is important to get the
right counsel to face these legal procedures.
The Chicago medical malpractice lawyer is more than adept in handling the different issues on
negligence in the proper legal route. On top of this, it would serve you well if you would have ... Show

The normal route is for investigative people under the supervision of the lawyer to take the cudgels of
this task. It would be the responsibility of the aggrieved party to collect all medical and financial
documents and all pertinent personal information to the accused. A separate medical examination, and
in certain instances an MRI, is done on the child. This would be the supporting items to prove there
was injury caused to the child at the time of birth.
The deposition comes next, or the evaluation of the collected evidence which is treated individually
for their separate merits. Part of the process in this case includes the examination and cross
examination of the Chicago birth injury lawyer and his counterpart. This process would include the
testimonies of the physicians, nurses, technicians and all others involved in the delivery of the baby.
The negotiation phase would follow, and in most cases, the Chicago medical malpractice lawyer
would be in a good position to conduct negotiations after all the evidence has been collected and
collated. It would be the job of the lawyer to Assess the extent and seriousness of the injury,
considering the economic and other losses, actual and potential, and conferring the matter with the
insurance company. The trial phase would ensue should the negotiation stage

Ideology behind the Film Spirited Away
Ideology is attitudes, beliefs, perceptions that commonly shared by the people in society. It is mostly
unconscious and it appears in everyday human s daily lives. Cinema is one of the medium that people
can be exposed. Therefore the ideology in film takes a powerful role that shapes aspects of people s
beliefs. When it comes to a film, people who watch the film receive a message from it whether that
message is explicit or not. Ideology can be most receptive and powerful when it is exposed to the
audience when they are enjoying the film and are unaware of it (Edgar Hunt, Marland and Rawle 96).
In Spirited Away, the movie sends out many aspects of ideology in Japanese society. This essay is
going to be focusing on two particular aspects which are Shinto beliefs and human versus nature.
In Asian culture, people usually give priority to the religion. Shinto was the state religion of Japan in
the past. Shinto means Kami Way in Japanese. Kami is term to describe sacred spirits, or something
that possesses superior power (Earheart 6). Japanese people believe that there are spirits in everything.
All beings can be called Kami such as river, woods, or even human beings (Ono and Woodard 6).
Japan has been called a land of Kami. They regard Kami as an object of worship in Shinto religion.
Throughout the film, it can be seen that many elements of Shinto aspect is subtly embed. Just the
name of this movie Spirited Away tells a lot about the beliefs of Japanese toward the supernatural

Essay On Barefoot Running
Our bodies goes through repetitive forces of impact each day. Anything from stepping off a curb to
landing after a jump contributes the impact our bodies withstand daily. Aside from the impact due to
daily routine, runners add an extra amount of force during exercise. The most basic cause of injury
while running is considered to be ground reaction force. Ground reaction force is the force that the
ground exerts on the body during contact. while wearing shoes throughout the day we are
experiencing a change in strike pattern. In the book Born to Run, the writers suggest that running with
shoes has an effect on landing pattern of the foot during running. It also suggest that barefoot runners
have naturally shorter strides and higher cadence. This reduction of stride had been shown to reduce
the possibility of hip and knee injuries due to less pressure on the joints. In the article Prospective
comparison of running injuries between shod and barefoot runners, the authors suggest that running
barefoot would result in less injuries and is a healthier alternative to Shod running. Theories of
barefoot running says that landing on the middle of your foot rather than striking the ground with your

whose sport involves larger quantities of jumping and pounding. The reduced amount of time in which
your foot is in contact with the ground leads to a higher level of usage and activation in the calf which

NASA History
Everything that exists has history, even NASA! NASA s history stretches as far back as 50 years (and
counting), and that history has a lot to teach. NASA has history in when and why they started, in how
they progressed including the mistakes they made along the way and in the first astronauts to some of
the last. All of these things are important factors in the making of NASA history; and though they re
not exactly sending people to the moon anymore, what they ve done in the past with the technology
and resources they had in the 1900 s is educational and a beneficial learning experience. To begin
with, NASA was first pushed towards being more urgently developed when the Soviets successfully
launched Sputnik 1, which was the world s first satellite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Invented by a worker of NASAAmes, the tiny chip includes methods and systems for estimating the
amount of gas particles in the air and then in short, comparing them to normal levels of gas. In more
recent years NASA won the same award for a low density heat shield material in 2007. Then again in
2010, they received the award for software that creates air traffic control simulations. Back to the
space aspect of NASA, the United states was the first country to put men on the moon! In 1969
encouraged by John F. Kennedy the president of that time, NASA sent 3 men to the moon, 2 of which
waked around, left notes, planted flags and overall took memory of seeing the moon in the middle of
space almost completely exposed to all the nothing around them,.. firsthand. Furthermore, NASA s
history not only lies in it s accomplishments and it s establishment; but it lies in the hands of the
astronauts and people who made it existence possible. There were many key people who wanted
nothing more than for NASA to take off into space and to aid the world in knowing a little bit more
about the Earth and the wonders that surround it. Some of these people were ordinary and gave their
support by attending shuttle takeoffs and by donating what they could to the cause. Others were
government workers in senators who wanted the U.S. to stay ahead. President Eisenhower, and
Kennedy can both be seen as historic people in the eyes of NASA because they re determination to
keep NASA first was one of the things that even made NASA, NASA! President Eisenhower held
meetings to get bills passed for the association in 1958. And in the 1960 s Kennedy followed suit
pushing for even more from NASA sending funds their way. Astronauts were additionally remarkable
people to be remembered in NASA s history. In 1986, 7 astronauts died in the name of NASA onboard
the spacecraft Challenger and though their deaths were extremely saddening,

  • 2. Viral Hemorrhagic Fever and Ebola Virus Species What is Ebola hemorrhagic fever? Ebola hemorrhagic fever (Ebola HF) is a severe, often fatal disease in humans and nonhuman primates (monkeys, gorillas, and chimpanzees) that has appeared sporadically since its initial recognition in 1976. The disease is caused by infection with Ebola virus, named after a river in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire) in Africa, where it was first recognized. The virus is one of two members of a family of RNA viruses called the Filoviridae. There are five identified subtypes of Ebola virus. Four of the five have caused disease in humans: Ebola Zaire, Ebola Sudan, Ebola Ivory Coast and Ebola Bundibugyo. The fifth, Ebola Reston, has caused disease in nonhuman primates, but not in humans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Persons tested later in the course of the disease or after recovery can be tested for IgM and IgG antibodies; the disease can also be diagnosed retrospectively in deceased patients by using immunohistochemistry testing, virus isolation, or PCR. How is Ebola hemorrhagic fever treated? There is no standard treatment for Ebola HF. Patients receive supportive therapy. This consists of balancing the patient s fluids and electrolytes, maintaining their oxygen status and blood pressure, and treating them for any complicating infections. How is Ebola hemorrhagic fever prevented? The prevention of Ebola HF in Africa presents many challenges. Because the identity and location of the natural reservoir of Ebola virus are unknown, there are few established primary prevention measures. If cases of the disease do appear, current social and economic conditions often favor the spread of an epidemic within health care facilities. Therefore, health care providers must be able to recognize a case of Ebola HF should one appear. They must also have the capability to perform diagnostic tests and be ready to employ practical viral hemorrhagic fever isolation precautions, or barrier nursing techniques. These techniques include the wearing of protective clothing, such as masks, gloves, gowns, and goggles; the use of infection control measures, including complete equipment sterilization; and the isolation of Ebola HF patients from contact with unprotected ... • 3. Essay on Parkinson Disease (PD) Introduction Parkinson disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized mainly by physical and psychological disabilities. This disorder was named after James Parkinson, an English physician who first described it as shaking palsy in 1817 (Goetz, Factr, and Weiner, 2002). Jean Martin Charcot, who was a French neurologist, then progressed and further refined the description of the disease and identified other clinical features of PD (Goetz, Factr, and Weiner, 2002). PD involves the loss of cells that produce the neurotransmitter dopamine in a part of the brain stem called the substansia nigra, which results in several signs and symptoms (Byrd, Marks, and Starr, 2000). It is manifested clinically by tremor, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although many theories and hypotheses were raised as to why this happens, there is no solid information supporting the physiological cause of this, but it is surely one of various factors that may lead to the development of PD. Neuroanatomy of the Basal Ganglia It has been known that PD is a disorder affecting the basal ganglia. The term basal ganglia is generally applied to a collection of nuclei situated deep within the cerebral hemispheres, lying laterally to the thalamus (Gazzeniga, George, and Mangun, 2008). The basal ganglia are important subcortical structures. They are composed of five nuclei: caudate, putamen, globus pallidus, subthalamic nucleus, and substantia nigra. These nuclei are not thought of a single anatomical entity; rather, they form a functional unity whose contribution is greatly to motor control. Interestingly, this system does not influence movement through spinal cord pathways, but rather acts as part of a feedback loop to all areas of the cerebral cortex, with primary input into motor areas (Aird, 2000). A number of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters are what control this whole process, and a balance of both is required to ensure that smooth, purposeful movement takes place. In order to understand the pathways of which the basal ganglia take part in, it is essential to know the input and output connections of the basal ganglia. The input ... • 4. Pros And Cons Of The Georgia Colony Was the Georgia colony a success or failure? While the colony of Georgia was successful in defense however; charity and economy were a disappointment. In 1732 King George 2 granted a charter by giving named trustees permission to establish the Georgia Colony. Until 1752 the Georgia Colony had seen both dark and light moments; some of which include the construction of the settlement, the establishment of Fort Frederica, as well as declaring war on Spain. The corporation was made to be a charitable body, so none of the trustees could receive or buy land of their own. Also Because of the small amount of land everyone on the new settlement received there were several complaints about going into poverty and not having enough slaves or workers to help establish the colony. James Oglethorpe and 20 other trustees finally decided that they would do whatever it took to make the colony a utopian city. Because Georgia had such a great defense system; it won the battle of bloody marsh; and defeated the Spanish. This was accomplished by raising the first alarm at fort William, evidence for this is found in document D, The first alarm was raised by the garrison at Fort William, which successfully kept several Spanish galleons from entering the inland waterway (Colonial Coastal Fortifications Document D). At St. Simon s island Oglethorpe led the battle and ultimately conquered the Spanish even after the Spanish launched a massive assault on Garrison; Georgia held firm and the Spanish ... One popular type of story is the creation myth. • 6. The Rise and Fall of the Aztec Civilization Essay The Rise and Fall of the Aztec Civilization The Rise and fall of the Aztec Empire is possibly the most important area of study in the modern world. Of all of the nomadic tribes who migrated into Mexico, the Aztecs were one of the last. At first driven away by established tribes, the Aztecs slowly began to develop an empire of immense wealth and power by the late fifteenth century. Due in large part to the accomplishments of their ruler Itzcoatl, the empire expanded to include millions of people from a number of different tribes, including the Cempoala, who would later aid the Spanish in defeating the Aztecs. Because of the melting pot within the empire, the Aztecs had a very diverse culture. However, this immense Aztec Empire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fearful of the Spanish, and hateful of the wealth and power of the Aztecs, some of the native tribes, particularly the Cempoala and others from the cities of Tlaxcala and Tezcoca, joined forces with Cortes. After the Spaniards annihilated the Cholultecas, the terrified people of the Aztec empire did their best to please them, as the Europeans made their way inland. By the time Cortes reached Tenochititlan, he had accumulated a large number of allies. Believing that Cortes was indeed Quetzalcoatl, Montezuma greeted the Spanish as if they were gods. Cortes responded, We have come to your house in Mexico as friends. There is nothing to fear. Nevertheless, Cortes kept Montezuma under guard. Instead of resisting, Montezuma did everything he could to please the Spanish, ordering his servants to supply everything that Cortes requested. Montezuma s weakness to the Spanish angered many of his followers, who began to lose respect for their king. Cortes and his men were amazed by the splendor of the Aztec capital. The Spaniards greed would then lead them to carry out unprovoked attacks on Aztec temples and military leaders. Cortes then had Montezuma instruct his angry people not to retaliate, declaring that the Spanish were too powerful and could not be resisted. However, this angered the Aztecs even more, both at the Spanish and Montezuma. As advanced as the Aztecs were, they were no match for the Spanish forces. The Spanish ... This is a strong point that the narrator illustrates, because Screwtape is considered like a devil who is trying to influence his incompetent nephew, Wormwood. Also, being picky is a way of hassling to others as it asks them to go out of their way in order to make something perfect. Moreover, it could jeopardize friendships because perfection can never be attained, and the disappointment of not getting their way could result in ill tempers toward others. Furthermore, while gluttony of delicacy may be different than the sin of gluttony, of excess, it produces querulousness, impatience, uncharitableness, and self concern, counteracting the attempt to avoid sin in the first place (Screwtape ch17). • 9. The Ethical And Moral Issue Recent research suggests that human beings have the technology to revert species extinction. Scientists are able to reassemble the DNA in a dead tissue of extinct animals. However, the DNA is not perfect because it contains bacteria, fungi, or other micro organism s DNA. Scientists have to find their closest living relative and reassemble the missing gene to form a hybrid gene. These technique can potentially bring any extinct animal back as long as we have its DNA. For this new technology, we will be using the theory of Utilitarianism to examine the ethics behind it. The main ethical and moral issue comes with the out come of the extinct species enter the wild. Firstly, my view is that recreated extinct species equals alien species. My definition of alien species is plant, animal, or microorganism that is not currently living in a place but are transported into the area. This means, all extinct species are alien species to our current environment if we bring any of them back. They might be the most abundant species on the area when they were alive, for example, the passenger pigeon was once the most abundant species in North America. However, once they went extinct, the food chain and ecosystem began to not depend on their existence. Therefore, the question will be, what happen when we introduce there extinct species into wild? And does the happiness outweigh the risk? What might happen when introducing an alien species to an area? For the native species, these alien ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Explanation Of Solubility Research What is solubility? Solubility is a chemical property referring to the ability for a given substance, the solute, to dissolve in a solvent. (Science Daily, 2014) Solubility occurs around people throughout their everyday life, and is exemplified through their food and drinks, and even the air that surrounds them. Solubility is a complex idea that can be understood in a simpler form, i.e., having hot coffee and adding sugar to it. It appears that the hot coffee melts the salt, but deeper beyond the surface the hot coffee molecules break apart the sugar molecules; the molecules are broken down, because of the increase in temperature that causes the molecules to collide harder. The collision is caused by the faster, vibrating molecules in the solution. The solute (salt) is the substance that dissolves in the solvent (water) and it depends on a few things: temperature, volume, type of solvent and concentration. The solubility of most salts can be found on a solubility curve and it expresses the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 13. Three Types Of Truth What is truth? It is a very confusing word since people cannot definitely describe what is identical truth. Where is the border of lie and truth which makes them different and separates them? People tend not to tell every detail, and it makes the other party understand situation in a wrong way. For example, one boy fought with someone in school also fell off stairs at the same time. Afterwards he goes home and his mother asks him what happened to him? He just tells her that he fell off the stairs however, this is not the exact truth. Does this kind of situations define truth? Therefore, truth is a mysterious matter. First of all, Oliver Kim claims that there are three types of trues. Correspondence theory of truth, coherence theory of truth and the pragmatic theory of truth: Correspondence, states that proposition is true if it corresponds to (or reflects) reality. If someone mentions that it is snowing (the proposition), then it is true when we see the snow falling outside. Nonetheless, what is the reality in this matter? It is true to everyone that human senses can deceive people. Hence, it can be true that something reality does exists. Furthermore, coherence theory of truth states, a proposition is true if it is with other things that are considered true . Depending on this idea whether the statement is real or not is ... • 14. How Does Divorce Create Long Term Negative Effects For... Divorce is one of many controversial subjects in family and human development research. What inspired me to critically analyze the article Does Divorce Create Long Term Negative Effects for Children? is the challenge it would be for me to put my bias aside considering I am from a divorced home. After reading the article and analyzing it over and over, I can t help but think that the writer answering YES to this controversial question overlooked many variables and over generalized his findings and research. With Zinsmeister overgeneralizing his research, not considering enough alternate explanations for long term negative effects divorce, and his lack of relevant information needed to assess reliability and validity are why I find this article to be insightful but not accurate and hope to show why. In the introduction to the article, the authors David Gately and Andrew Schwebel best wrote Karl Zinsmeister uses studies of children and divorce to argue against the contention made by many parents that it is better to divorce than to rear children in a marriage with conflict. He maintains that children s sense of stability and family structure supersedes parental needs. • 15. The Daphnia Magna Experiment Plant compounds play a very important role in the defense of plants and in this experiment the plant defense compounds of caffeine and Kava kava were tested on Daphnia magna to test if there was a change in heartbeat of the organism. The purpose of the experiment was to see how these compounds affected the Daphnia magna. The t values for both the caffeine and Kava kava were calculated to be 1.82 and 1.62, which were both smaller than the obtained t critical value of 2.57. A conclusion was drawn that there was no statistically significant difference in heart rate after the plant defense compounds of caffeine and Kava kava were added compared to before they were added. Introduction: In this experiment two plant defensive compounds, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their bodies are encased by an uncalcified shell, carapace, and they can reach lengths of 5mm with a kidney bean shape (Ebert, 2005). The Daphnia magna live in mostly freshwater environments, but can live in certain brackish water areas. In comparing males and females the males have smaller body sizes, larger antennas a modified post abdomen (Ebert, 2005). The Daphnia magna are good test subjects to assess the effects of the plant defense compounds of caffeine and Kava kava, as they are easy to care for, inexpensive, and the effects of the compound are easily noted through looking at the heart rate of the organism under a microscope. This experiment required the use of a two tailed t test to determine whether there was a difference in heart of the Daphnia magna before and after the plant defensive compounds (caffeine and Kava kava) were introduced. This test also helps to see if the difference in the test is statistically significant, which determines if the results obtained occurred by chance. A t value is obtained to get the probability value and as the t value increases it signifies a larger meaningful difference between the two groups (Blanar, 2017) and as it decreases the opposite happens. If a t value is smaller than the t critical value the null hypothesis is accepted, but if the obtained t value is larger than the t critical value the null hypothesis is rejected. A p value is also important for this experiment, as it is the probability the null hypothesis is correct. The null hypothesis for this experiment was that there was no difference in the Daphnia magna heart rate after the plant defense compounds (caffeine and Kava kava) were added compared to before, while the alternative hypothesis generated was that there is a difference in the Daphnia magna heart rate after the plant defense compounds (caffeine and Kava kava) were added compared ... During the Summer of 2015, BLM publicly challenged politicians, including those in the 2016 U.S presidential elections. A drawback of the movement is that it is decentralized and does not have the funds or people with enough power to enforce a formal structure and hierarchy within its network. One successful method the protestors employed to have their voices heard is the staged demonstrations at numerous malls across the United States on Black Friday, which is undeniably, a wisely chosen date to reach and spread such messages in public to as many people as possible. Besides the U.S, there are several BLM chapters in Canada and Ghana. The movement has also expanded beyond street protests, such as college campuses who have taken part including the University of Missouri protest in 2015. Studies in the past have Indicated that, lack of adequate sexual and reproductive health knowledge may possibly represent a key factor preventing the complete elimination of unwanted pregnancies, and unsafe induced abortion among adolescent girls in Nigeria. According to Ipas(2005) unplanned pregnancies are the result of various factors, including lack of knowledge about menstruation and pregnancy, lack of access to, and knowledge about how to use contraceptives; difficulties in using contraceptives because of a partner s or family objections; contraceptive failure; and sexual assault. Also, adolescents may more often delay seeking care for abortion related complications due to lack of transportation, lack of knowledge about where post abortion care can be obtained, fears of censure from their parents and health care providers, fear of legal repercussions, or lack of money to pay for services (Ipas, 2005). This may be particularly so in rural communities where access to basic in frastructural facilities remain low and inadequate 1.2 RESEARCH QUESTIONS The guiding research questions for this study include the following:What is the knowledge level of adolescent girls about reproductive health issues generally? Rusticiano s The Travels Of Marco Polo Marco Polo, born into a family of silk stocking merchants, was provided with an opportunity to gallivant across sweeping landscapes, rigid mountainous terrain, and paths rife with plunderers. His book, The Travels of Marco Polo, was conceived in a prison cell thanks to the fastidious efforts of an Italian romance writer, Rusticiano, who had earlier written Roman de Roi Artus. It is through this book that little of Polo s past is disclosed; he lived alone with his mother where he received an education encompassing mercantile commerce until her death where other family would care for him. The haunting sound of drums is a phenomenon of... [a] certain [situation] among sand hills when the sand is disturbed, which is a far more logical explanation than spirits dabbling in music. Haunting recounts such as these illustrate to readers that Polo was not entirely a reliable storyteller as he failed to acknowledge other sources for the noises. That doesn t discredit his book, but shows that during this time period there were not many scientific explanations for what appears to be spiritual occurrences. Another example of Polo not being the most reliable storyteller is how he exaggerates numbers. However, the embellishments do reflect information that had been given to Marco by others rather than his own tendency to overstatement; meaning that Polo himself did not necessarily conjure up quantities to aggrandize his book. This begs the question, though: is there any harm exaggerating in the first place? It was already aforementioned that this book did not intend an academic environment, but more so impart the experience Polo gained and the sights he saw. If he did embellish numbers, it only helps facilitate his narrative and draw more attention to the East, which at this time Europe did not much interest in. Polo, even if his travels were fabricated and his facts nonsensical, still aided in the sundering of Europe s foreign ignorance. He fanned the flames of curiosity and invoked a desire to future Europeans to engage in Eastern interactions. When he returned to his hometown, he was donned with the treasures ... Fall Prevention In The Elderly Essay Quality Improvement for Fall Prevention in the Elderly The occurrence of falls among the elderly is related to multiple factors, such as inherent and external issues. Studies have proven that when appropriate intervention is put in place, falls are preventable. A quality improvement according to Polit Beck (2012) is created to examine the willingness of individuals to understand these studies and put them into practice or to appraise the results of interventions already in place. The isolation is not only a result of the townspeople s perception of Emily s status in the community, but also as a result of their pity towards her. Emily, herself, is also to blame for the separation she experiences from the rest of the town. This ominous alienation that some individuals encounter can sometimes lead to horrible, and even, disgusting behavior, as in Emily s case. Academically, complacency is the difference between putting in the time and effort to study for a test and shrugging it off with a simple it ll be fine. Playing ultimate complacency looks like not doing another set of dead lifts or accepting a poor decision as acceptable just because it happened to result in a goal because it ll work itself out. Another example of me being communicating well is once I found my friend Maniac is a buffalo pen at the zoo late at night in the west side of town. I had to convince him to come home. The plan was devised by Alfred Von Schlieffen. His plan was to attack France, not on the main border, which was strongly fortified, but to attack through Belgium and circle the Paris by going to the west of it, not east. He predicted this should take 6 weeks leaving enough time to go to the eastern front at Russia and fight there. The Belgians also stopped supplies and reinforcements, and destroyed their railways. One of the great ideas about the Schlieffen Plan was that the army invading France was so large and strong. However, when Russia recovered unexpectedly in 10 days (not six weeks as the Germans expected) the German leaders worried and many troops were transported to the Eastern front, weakening the blow to France. By now they were very behind schedule. The consequences were bad for the Germans. France was sending troops to the frontier at the North and even more importantly, Britain had joined the war. They had promised to protect Belgium (because they were worried about being attacked on their coast) and also they did not want Germany to dominate Europe. Britain sent the BEF (British Expeditionary Force) under Sir John French. The army of 100,000 soldiers arrived in Belgium on the 17th August. The Germans, who had hoped the British would not join, were now forced to fight them at the Battle of Mons. The British retreated to the French armies. The German Armies were now moving south. The right wing was moving towards the west of Parris. However, Von Kluck was worried about the spread out nature of the German armies. Also the Belgian delays meant that the armies were tired and supplies were stretched. Therefore, he decided to go east of Parris. This violated Schlieffen s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Suicide Terrorism And Terrorism As President Abraham Lincoln once stated, The government of the people, by the people, for the people... This illuminates the role of all Liberal and Democratic governments. In Liberalism and Democracy, the government derives its power from its citizens and is supposed to represent their needs and desires. The purpose of government is to protect individuals and their rights. Furthermore, the more relevant and problematic the social and political issues are within a country, the more imperative it is for the government to establish policies to remedy the issues. According to Pape, this is the underlying philosophy of terrorist organizations and what ultimately fuels terrorism. Extremist groups seek to instill fear among citizens to prompt the governments to adopt policies that the extremists desire. The key premise of Dying to Win is that terrorism is not irrational, but rather just one among a number of political strategies. Terrorist organizations are guided by the aspiration to achieve a particular goal; to expel a foreign army from their territory and to instill fear in societies around the world to prevent a military invasion. Suicide Terrorism is strategic and deliberate as evident through three main properties and not through irrational behavior or religious fanaticism. Timing, nationalist goals, and target selection are three universal patterns supported by data in which suicide terrorism can be deemed a tactical phenomenon. Suicide attacks are organized and ... However, after watching the small clip of Psycho in class, it peaked my interest to further understand the characters, in particular, Norman Bates character. In the film Psycho, the recurring theme is a more psychological and can be demonstrated throughout the film but in particular, the parlor scene and the end scene at the jail. One of the most revealing moments of the psychological aspect of horror in this film is the scene which includes Norman Bates and Marion Crane sharing dinner in his office parlor. The shower scene is a greatly crafted scene that truly captivates the death of Marion and the introduction to the mysterious murder at Bates Motel. This scene starts with Marion making calculation on the money she spent then leading her to shower. During this shower and prior to the killing, we receive a total of two power shots of the shower head running. This is a quite odd, but truly meaningful. When Marion is about to be murdered we receive a panned shot which includes Marion showering and a mysterious figure walking closer and closer to her. This then prompts Leigh s famous scream, now a key element for horror films. The thing that really makes this scene scary is the scoring which initiates just as the killer slides the shower curtain open. The scoring switches from a very high pitched to a more low toned sound. I absolutely love the scoring at this instant because no matter how many times I watch it, the scene always makes me jump and clench back in fear. After Marion drops to the floor, we get moving shot that leads to the drain, slowly zooming in and then switching to Marion s eye eventually capturing her whole head. What I found the most intriguing about this scene is the fact that they show her eye open, looking almost bead like. After watching the parlor scene and based on some research I did on taxidermy, when you stuff an animal, you usually add beads to replace their eyes because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
