Substance Abuse And Bipolar Disorder
Separately, substance abuse and bipolar disorder are two very serious conditions, and both have been
proven to be caused in part by heredity. Shockingly, co occurrence of both disorders in a single person
is a very common combination, and it can be very dangerous. People who have both bipolar disorder
and an addiction are understood to have a dual diagnosis or genetic overlap . Often, each condition can
worsen the symptoms of the other; having both problems increases the risk of mood swings,
depression, suicide, and other violent behavior. Studies are still being done to determine the linkage
between these two genetic ailments, but it is obvious that there has to be some relationship. The
genetic heredity of both bipolar disorder as well as substance abuse have already been proven through
data from families, adoption, and twin studies, and I m sure a positive link amongst the two conditions
can be proven as well. The National Institute of Health has gathered information about people with
these problems who actively seek help. They cite various studies from 1988 1996 that state 60.7
percent of people with bipolar I disorder had a lifetime diagnosis of a substance abuse disorder, and 48
percent of those with bipolar II disorder also had a substance abuse problem. Compare that to the 27
percent of unipolar depression patients who also have substance dependencies, and you begin to see a
greater relationship appear. Those numbers are amazing to me, and definitely

Challenges Of Indian Students Face On Campus
Indians students in US facing cultural disconnect on campus
Indians love to boast about the cultural diversity of their land, but it is not until they arrive at a US
university that they encounter the real thing. All said and done, some things are the same wherever
you go in India, and there are not that many surprises. But new Indian students who arrive in the US
are never quite prepared for the cultural tidal wave that await them on campus.
However, most of them overcome the culture shock eventually and come to love their campus lives, so
much so that they suffer a reverse culture shock when they visit home. The initial months of
adjustment are the most difficult for Indian students. Here we discuss some problem areas and how
students find solutions.
Communication
The main difficulty that Indian students face on campus is how to interact with other international and
American students and teachers. A large majority of Indian students, even some of those who have
graduated in the English medium from reputed schools in big cities in India, not to speak of small
towns, struggle to converse with other students, particularly Americans. They are unable to understand
popular American expressions, including idioms ( I ll take a rain check, you re on the ball, I m still
finding my feet, etc.), words/phrases ( downtown, okra, check, etc.), and spellings ( caliber, program,
traveling, etc.).
American pronunciation also confuses Indians ( semai for semi, skedule

A Brief Note On Bluetooth Low Energy ( Ble )
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 Problem summary and Introduction
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is an emerging wireless technology developed by the Bluetooth Special
Interest Group (SIG) for short range communication. In contrast with previous Bluetooth flavours,
BLE has been designed as a low power solution for control and monitoring applications. BLE is the
distinctive feature of the Bluetooth 4.0 specification. According to the SIG, there would be almost 3
fold increase in the installation and usage of BLE in the next three years with a predicted growth of
287%. Thus in the coming future, BLE mode of Wireless Communication will likely become a
significant component in the field of Technology. The widespread use of Bluetooth technology (e.g.,
in mobile phones, laptops, automobiles, etc.) has resulted in various project development.
Exploring its potential application and using the improvement over its former technology to develop a
device that would serve as an Asset Detection chip is our main purpose.
Also, to reduce the dependency on a remote device and to enhance the use of Smartphones , we will
sync the device with an android application.
1.2 Aim and objectives of the project
The purpose of this project is to exploit the use of BLE technology and integrate that for real time
applications. The project will require us to design, fabricate and implement an ATTACHABLE device
that would be controlled by BLE communication and android application. 1.3 Problem

The Problem Of Induction, Inductive Reasoning, And Weather
The problem of induction, inductive reasoning, and weather or not nature is uniform, are questions
that have been raised by many a great philosopher. Induction, and Inductive reasoning is when you
make observations of past events and occurrences and base your knowledge on those observations.
From these observations you make generalizations, the problem with inductive reasoning and the
problem with induction is that, your observations generalize and assume, sometimes too much,
sometimes on a very limited number of observations which is not necessarily enough to assume that
you are in fact right in knowing about a certain thing. Imagine all the swans you had ever seen or
heard about were white, and you had never seen or heard of a black swan before. You would then
assume and think that there were only such a thing as white swans, and rightly so, but does this mean
there is no such thing as a black swan? No, it just means there has not ever been a black swan that you
have seen or heard of, but because of inductive reasoning, and your own observations you could make
a false claim. The claim that there are only white swans. Inductive reasoning also assumes that
because a sequence of events has happened in the past they will again in the future, this is called the
uniformity of nature, The sun is an example of this, it rises every day and sets every night, and it has
done so since the beginning of time. Therefore, due to the sun rising and setting in the past, due to

Paradox of the Republic
Paradoxes are ideas that seem to be in opposition to one another but are mutually needed to function.
In Plato s Republic he discusses several paradoxes. While reading The Republic we can see which
side of these paradoxes Plato favors. We find which side he feels should be stressed so that we may
live in a reasonable and safe society and be better human beings. There are three categories in which
these paradoxes have been divided into: ethical, metaphysical and political. Plato was a legendary
Athenian philosopher. His main influence was his teacher, Socrates, whom he thought died unjustly.
The Republic was written in dialogues narrated by Socrates. These dialogues were Socrates teachings
as best Plato could remember them. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Plato was thinking out his Republic he felt society took president over the individual. The
whole is greater than it s parts , he said. However, Plato also said, you need to balance the order of
society with the rights of the individual. Plato felt in a natural state people would war against on
another. That is why a civil or social contract is needed to keep man from killing one another. Man
would then enter into this social contract for protection, to trade goods and services with others and
simply to have their needs taken care of. For this social contract to be successful each individual must
have a responsibility and an obligation to his fellow man and follow the rules of the contract. In this
way the individual will gain but society will prevail. It is a give and take proposition. People are
working for the benefit of society and individuals benefit from working for the society. Plato wanted
to set up an interdependent society where we would service one another with competence, where each
one would better themselves by working for the society and fulfilling different needs. Everyone would
be working for the betterment of society and thereby helping themselves. We are stronger together
than we are individually. In the paradox of order and change, Plato favors order. In Plato s Republic he
speaks of a specific social order and feels that there are absolute laws and reasons without exceptions
to keep that order. He feels

Athlete Are Paid Too Much
Today s professional athletes make ridiculous salaries and are only increasing year after year. Every
year we hear how a professional athlete just signed a contract worth a record amount. Then about the
same time next year we hear about another athlete is signing a new contract worth even more than the
previous high. Professional athletes are making too much money in a society that salaries and wages
are typically based on the value of ones work. In today s society where salaries are determined by an
individuals labour put into when providing a good or service. It is expected that individuals that
provide goods or services with a high amount of labour involved or increase the standard of living of
the society would have the highest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is remarkable how an athlete is paid millions of dollars to appear for a few hours for an advertising
campaign, while a surgeon who must perform a life affecting procedure for a few hours is paid a small
fraction of what an athlete earns. When considering team sports, it can be linked that higher payroll
teams win more games and win more championship. But, there should be a limit or salary cap in all
professional team sports. This creates greater competition between teams and more excitement for the
fans. If a league did not have a salary cap, only teams that have a history of winning games and
championships are able to pay top dollars for the best players. This makes it very difficult for younger
teams to succeed, or for new teams to enter the league. A prime example of a professional sport
without a salary cap is Major League Baseball. The New York Yankees had the highest payroll in 2007
of $218.3 million, while the World Series champion Boston Red Sox was a distant second at $155.4
million. Not only having the highest payroll, the Yankees had the highest revenue in the majors of
$415 million last year. By looking at the other end of the payroll column, one can link the payroll of
the team to its success in the league. For example, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays had the lowest payroll
in the majors last season of $31.8 million and have had the worst record. In the end, teams spent a
record $2.71 billion on players last year and the thirty

The Working Poor by D. Shipler Essay
The Working Poor The objective of this essay is to illuminate my overall reaction to the reading of
The Working Poor conveying what I do not like while highlighting a sociological perspective, in
addition to explaining if the reading is applicable to my own life experience. Taking notice, the subject
at hand was very sobering alluding even if we ourselves have not been partakers of living in the
obscurity of prosperity between poverty and wellbeing, certainly we have encountered someone that
has become a victim to it. With this in mind, my reaction is there are countless victims of poverty;
surely one does not have to go very far to find them as we understand them to be the working class.

The Time Of The Butterflies By Julia Alvarez
The struggle for equality has existed for thousands of years. The first decree of human rights was
drafted by King Cyrus in 539 BCE and is still an evolving issue today (Finkel). The book In the Time
of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez is a historical fiction novel written to tell the tale of the Mirabal
sisters and their struggle against a dictator in the Dominican Republic. As women, the sisters were
objects of discrimination by the dictator s regime. Their struggle against obstacles forced
consequences upon them for speaking their minds in a censored society. Through Mate Mirabal, the
youngest sister, we see a shift in characterization from a cautious adolescent to a strong woman who
helps change her country. Joining the rebellion and spending time in jail changed Mate into a
courageous person. In In the Time of the Butterflies, Julia Alvarez uses the change in Mate s
characterization to describe the impact of oppression and people s need to have their voice heard.
During her first year at boarding school, Mate is portrayed as a shy girl who is unable to stand up for
herself. This is shown when Mate is unable to keep some girls from making fun of her. Her thoughts
are written in a diary and they give us insight into how she feels and reacts to certain situations. Her
diary is called her Little Book and she uses it to record her feelings when she is teased. Mate writes,
And you might not know this, Little Book, but I always cry when people laugh at me (Alvarez 31). In

Analyzing
Once the scanning of the factors that has been identified is done, it has to be analysed to know the
impact on the business at different stages of the business. Again there are several tools available for
analyzing the scanned environmental variables which could be used for scenario building cases,
benchmarking and for even Delphi techniques. In all the tools that is being used for analyzing would
gather the data and analyse in the similar fashion. In this type of analysis conducted on the gathered
information, mean median, mode, correlation and regression are calculated. The method of analyzing
may vary depending upon the factor that is being analysed (Kotler P. and Lee R. 2008).
Forecasting
When the environmental factors are analysed, it is important to make it clear for the organisation
regarding the impact of the environmental factor that could be made on the organisation in the near
future. The main reason for analyzing the current data with the historical data is to forecast the impact
that could be made on the organisation. from the forecast that has been made on the environmental
factors, a business strategy is devised by the management in order to manage the business in response
to the analysis carried out.
The environmental analysis is carried out on the internal and the external business environmental
factors. The internal analysis describes the strength, weakness, opportunities and the threats of the
organisation internally. But the

The Northern Wars Of Aotearoa Essay
The Northern wars in Aotearoa.
In this paper my intention is to review the Northern wars known as te riri pakeha or white man s anger
that took place in 1843 1846, in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. It will also be defining and giving
understanding of the meaning of colonisation and the effects on the Māori people. This paper
concludes with the impact of the Northern wars on Māori wellbeing and health in 1843 and the
present.
The definition of colonisation is the forming of a settlement or colony by a group of people who seek
to take control of territories or countries . It usually involves large scale immigration of people to a
new location and the expansion of their civilization and culture in this area.Skwirk

British reinforced colonists views and that of the British Government. Religious beliefs, sovereign rule
under her majesty the Queen, European land ownership and legal systems were amongst the impacts
of colonisation on Māori customs. In December 1837 the British government decided in principle to
intervene in New Zealand to ensure that colonisation was regulated and that land transactions that
defrauded Māori were stopped. This led to the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840. The Treaty of

Capitalism, A Love Story By Michael Moore
Capitalism definition is an economic and political system in which a country s trade and industry are
controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state . I personally do agree with capitalism
and how it works in today s society. Different class people might have different opinions and ways
they look and go through capitalism. They might have different opinions because of their income,
loans, and how much money they personally have in the bank. Hand full of people get capitalism and
socialism confused and in my opinion it is pretty simple. The differences are ownership, equality,
efficiency, and employment. In capitalist how it is controlled by individuals and the property and
business are owned by them as well. Capitalism has two sides to it; it can either hurt someone and
their family or help them. In class we watched the film Capitalism, a Love Story , by Michael Moore
that subjectively and objectively informed the viewers on the different situations happening in the
result of capitalism. I believe that in the film capitalism, a Love Story , Moore did have valid reasons
that I do agree with that the banks were very greedy. Companies, industries and individuals have an
opportunity within a capitalistic society. Capitalism has lots of advantages, disadvantages, and
different effects on different business.
First, I believe that the banks can be very greedy in capitalism. The different banks were giving out
different types of loans to people who could not

Hurricane Research Paper
The hurricane began as a tropical wave a westbound low pressure area first observed southeast of
Cape Verde on 29 August.[1] Traversing the tropical Atlantic, the wave retained a minimum
barometric pressure of about 1010 mbar (hPa; 29.83 inHg) and strengthened briefly the following day.
[2][3] By 1 September, however, the wave had become rather weak and indiscernible; it would remain
as such for much of its early existence till 6 September, by which time it had moved past the
Windward Islands. In this region the system became sufficiently organised to be classified as a tropical
depression at 18:00 UTC that same day, about north north west of Grenada.[4][5] Some six hours after
its inception the depression strengthened to a tropical storm over the ... Show more content on

September, when the hurricane began to rapidly intensify. At 00:00 UTC on 10 September, the cyclone
intensified into a Category 2 hurricane. The storm strengthened further before reaching its peak
intensity with as a Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 135 mph (215 km/h) at
1800 UTC.[5] The strong hurricane made landfall on Belize City at the same intensity two hours later.
A barometer in the city recorded a minimum pressure of 952 mbar (hPa; 28.12 mbar); this was the
lowest barometric pressure measured in association with the storm.[2] The hurricane substantially
weakened over the Yucatán Peninsula, and had weakened to tropical storm strength by the time it had
entered the Bay of Campeche. Despite moving back over water, the tropical cyclone continued to
weaken in the bay,[5] and made its final landfall roughly 60 70 mi (95 110 km) north of Tampico,
Mexico, with winds of 40 mph (65 km/h) at around 00:00 UTC on 13 September.[2] Over the
mountainous terrain of Mexico, the storm quickly weakened, and dissipated later on 13

Who Is The Double Person In Macbeth
The emotions some people portray, and the personalities they hide inside are often differing from one
another. This can be explained by the insecurity of themselves. An example of an insecure person
would be a bully. A bully disguises themselves as tough and rough being who belittles his/her peers,
but on the inside they are truly weak people. By showing superiority, the bully feels more at ease with
him/her self because they are not the ones being targeted and the attention is not on them. William
Shakespeare s Macbeth creates characters such as Lady Macbeth and Macbeth to possess personality
qualitites of the opposite gender. Critics, however, disagree as to why Shakespeare intended on
creating these kinds of characters with Thomas F. Connolly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

the two sides of the double man are these: one is brave, honorable, strong, inclined to be conventional
and not too bright, while the other is the devious character already described, who places intelligence,
even a dark intelligence, above mere honor (31). In the play it is often seen how Macbeth is consumed
by stress over doing the fair or foul thing, most often than not he chooses to do the wrong thing and is
taken over by his sense of greed. We see a change in character in Macbeth from starting out as an
honorable war hero to a weak, indecisive, and evil person. Connolly goes on further and says that
Lady Macbeth and the witches represent an unconscious motivation. The witches deceive by falsely
making true promises of success, and Lady Macbeth by her denial to seeing that there is moral
consequences. In the beginning Macbeth is the one with the imagination; he quails before the deed
because he can envision it before it occurs. His wife complains of what she calls his weakness because
she is incapable of being appalled by an event which has not yet taken place (32). By seeing how
unaffected Lady Macbeth is by certain situations we see how cold hearted she is and how distant she
is from her feminine side of thinking. Macbeth is more morally conscious in doing the right thing than
Lady Macbeth, but towards the end Macbeth shows a change in character proving the Double Man
theory. Connolly then pin points the moment Macbeth turned dark and evil when he says to Lenox T
was a rough night (Macbeth). He acts completely normal masking his culpability showing that he feels
no remorse for what he had done. Connolly illustrates the insecurity of the characters by explaining
his Double Man theory to show that the characters evolved from beginning to end in a negative

I trembled with an overwhelming feeling of terror regarding the impossibility of the previous day s

Or maybe I didn t really see them, Maybe they weren t really there. Maybe I m insane. Though, of
course I suppose that would also have to qualify Vera and Mrs. Sappleton for insanity as well. After
all, they saw them, too. I started thinking of any scientifically sound Explanation for what had

The Turn Of The Screw Interpretation Essay
In the equivocal Victorian novella The Turn of the Screw, author Henry James details events
surrounding a tyrannical, oppressive governess as she assumes the care of two seemingly angelic
children and subsequently delves deeply into insanity. Purposefully ambiguous, this story is left open
to numerous interpretations ranging from viewing it as a frightening ghost story to a tale of
manipulative, inherently evil children. In the psychoanalytic perspective, which follows teachings
from prominent figureheads such as Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, analysis of the text reveals that the
apparitions were merely hallucinations, viewable only by the protagonist. When reading the novella
with this interpretation, it should also be seen in a satirical manner, ... Show more content on

Quint is described as being dressed in somebody s clothes. They re smart, but they re not his own.
This instance is one of doubling, as he is obviously being depicted to be a symbol of the Uncle who is
at the epicenter of the Governess thoughts. It is clear that Mrs. Jessel is somewhat of an alter ego with
the governess, definitely exhibiting her fears through her presence. The doubling isn t merely
symbolic, either, as there are numerous cases where the Governess is seen in the place of the spirits.
For example, when the protagonist views Quint peering out the window, she duplicates his behavior
and manages to terrify Mrs. Grose in the process. When Mrs. Jessel is viewed crying at the bottom of
the staircase, the Governess later finds herself in the same exact position and jumps up, repulsed by
the memory of the specter. The fact that both women were on a lower step on the stairwell could also
be representative of the psychological fear that the Governess holds of her possibly having a lowered
social status or class based on her actions. After all, Mrs. Jessel s association with the valet clearly
knocked her down a few steps, showing how low the current Governess and other Bly residents holds

When we think of hip hop do we think of the dance or do we think of the music? More often than not
we think of the music industry when someone says hip hop. however hip hop music was created with
the dance.
Both were created in the 1970 s by the African American and Puerto Rican people in New York. The
music originally incorporated the Rhythms of salsa, Afro conga, bongo drums, jazz and funk and
became more popular outside of the African American community around the 1980 s. Although some

I think the most important thing is to keep an open mind. The great fashion industry has taken over the
hip hop culture and evolved over time. People like Ralph lauren, Calvin Klein, and Tommy Hilfiger
tapped into hip hop culture and gave very little in return. It first consisted of baggy shirts, sagging
pants and jerseys. Then people like Jay Z linked up with brands like louis vuitton to create their own
fashion lines. The clothes got tighter, classically fashionable and much more expensive. Clothing will
always evolve with the dancers and music to fit the style of that era. Hip Hop dancing has multiple
different styles that can be put together or left alone to form a unique dance. There is Break, Popping,
Locking, Krumping, Freestyle and Novelty. Break was the first hip hop dance and is classified as one
of the five pillars of hip hop culture. It was created in the 1970 s and made popular by the dance
crews. Dance crews were sometimes called B Boys as in break boys and B Girls as in break girls. It
was practiced in both studios and on the streets. The dance was created in New York and incorporated
dances from african and latino communities.
There are so many different styles of hip hop dance. There is break, popping, locking, freestyle or
improvisational, and novelty or fad. popping has many styles within that category such as animation,

Analysis Of Maya s The Maya
Maya Secrets Locked in Stone
Maya scholars debated for decades over the fate of the Maya. Recent evidence from an unlikely
source, points a sustained drought in the 9th and 10th Centuries.
Stalagmites and Stone Carvings Offer Clues on the Collapse of the Maya Civilization
Circa 900 A.D., the Maya world fell apart. How could an ancient Meso
American civilization flourish for hundreds of years only to fade into the forest? That riddle has
perplexed scholars ever since 19th century explorers
John Stephens and Frederick Catherwood first stumbled upon moldering ruins to discover lost cities,
vine covered temples and an infrastructure worthy of a small kingdom.
Although the full extent of what befell Maya cities like Tikal and Copan, on the Yucatan Peten
Peninsula in present day Mexico and Central
America, remains a mystery. Research points to a change in long term weather patterns likely brought
about their decline. Part of a growing body of evidence, popularized by academics, like Jared
Diamond, that a prolonged drought preceded by abundant rainfall had turned prosperous Maya city
states into desolate ghost towns.
A Cave Yield s Clues
Recent studies have shed new light on this phenomenon. According to a paper published in Science
magazine, between 820 and 870 A.D., the Maya received 40 percent less rainfall than in prior decades.
Scientists surmise that the lack of rainfall tore at the social fabric of the Maya civilization. The
findings are based on the

Cleopatra was a very smart women. She studied many subjects such as philosophy, literature, art,

Ptolemy s forces at the Battle of the Nile, Cleopatra was reunited with her throne once again. Soon
after, Ptolemy XIII returned to Egypt to try and get the throne back, but was found dead in Nile River.
Soon after, Cleopatra gave birth to a son named Caesarian. In the article it says, In 47 B.C. Cleopatra

John The Savage Alienation

29 August 2017
A Savage s New World In the totalitarian country of London, the people are not subjected to war, hate,
poverty, disease and suffering. There is an abundance of wealth, leisure and pleasures, but with utopia
comes elimination of freedom and orthodox values. The people in the society are created in factories,
then put into a strict 5 class hierarchy. To take the edge off of the harshness of reality, they take a
synthetic drug called Soma and drift into blissful ignorance. When a savage named John who becomes
isolated from his indian tribe in New Mexico comes to live in utopia London, he is forced to learn the
strange, untraditional customs of the civilization. In the end, he has to choose between either
assimilation or death. In the novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, John the Savage is both
alienated from his community and emotionally enriched after being isolated from his home tribe. John
the Savage s view of civilization was greatly enhanced after he left the sheltered community of his
tribe. When he first arrives in utopia London, he is amazed by the aesthetic of the city and the people
who live there; here he recognizes how different the paradisal city is from the barbarous environment
of his tribe. John exclaims, how many godly creatures are there here! How beautiful mankind is!

History of Hearing Aids Essay
The story of the hearing aid depicts one of the most ridiculous timelines of technological
advancements in all of history. Although we modernly think of a hearing aid as a small device which
is inserted into the ear canal, the reality is that a hearing aid is an apparatus that amplifies sound and
compensates for impaired hearing. Thus, I invite you to expand your mind, and draw your attention to
the intriguing, and absolutely absurd, timeline of the hearing aid.
The most common model of the ancestral hearing aid is that of the simple ear trumpet. This was a
small, pipe looking device which was carved from either bull s horn or seashell, and was held up to
the ear in order to amplify sound. The audible result of such would ... Show more content on

The royal member would then angle the end of the tube towards their ear, so that they could better
hear the words being spoken without having to be yelled at.
Next we have the classic ear tube which was developed in 1887. Much like the childhood game of
telephone in which the two styrofoam cups were connected with a piece of string, the ear tube was
simply a long hose with a widened opening at either side. One end was placed to the lips of the
speaker, while the other end was placed close to the ear of the hearing deficient listener. Effective, yet
not exactly attractive to look at...
Finally, in 1901, the first electric hearing aids were designed. Consisting of a carbon microphone, a
processing unit, a battery box, and a headpiece, this hearing aid served merely as a personalized
microphone/amplifier. It was bulky, heavy, and expensive to buy (at about $400.00 each), but it
worked! Thus, its successors followed the same model, but the goal became a matter of size.
It wasn t until 1953 that a person could wear a hearing aid that would go largely unnoticed. The
Oticon pocket model was an aid that looked very much like an iPod its components being a small,
pocket sized battery and processor, and an earpiece which look about the same as what we would now
call an earbud . This was an incredible advancement, but the design was not quite finished.

The Rms Of The Titanic
The Titanic Imagine being on a ship and knowing that in just a few hours it was going to sink. This is
what the people on the RMS Titanic experienced. Although this was a major disaster, it brought to
light the importance of proper safety equipment. If the Titanic had proper safety equipment and proper
instruction on what to do in an emergency, the final death toll would be much lower. The titanic was
an enormous ship that had many amazing features to it. When the titanic sank it devastated the world.
The aftermath of the event was horrific, many people tried to help but not everyone could be saved.
The Titanic was a huge 882 foot long, 92 foot wide, and 175 foot tall cruise ship that weighed over
46,000 tons. It belonged to White Star Lines, and was designed by Thomas Andrews. The company
Harland and Wolff built the ship. It took 3 years, and $7.5million dollars to build ($167 million today).
3,000 workers made the ship, and each of its anchors weighed 15 tons. In May, 1911 the Titanic s hull,
the largest man made moveable object it the world, made its way to River Lagan. The Titanic was
equipped with 29 boilers that burnt up to 650 tons of coal every day. The titanic was first launched on
Queens Island on April 10th 1912. There was approximately 2,200 people on board, 1,300 passengers,
and 900 crew members. It had 75,000 pounds of meat, 16,850 bottles of wine and liquor, 101,000
pieces of fruit, and 130,000 pieces of silverware. The Titanic was the largest ship

Literary Analysis Of Persepolis
Taking place in the late 1970 s, Marjane Satrapi s Persepolis exemplifies a profound illustration of the
county of Iran, including aspects of its people and political structure. Unlike a conventional composed
novel, the story of Persepolis is expressed through both textual and visual representation; otherwise
known as a graphic novel. Through the experiences of the ten year old character Marjane, the reader is
exposed to historical events, movements, crises, and motives that occurred within Iran. Furthermore,
the novel has gained much praise in its portrayal of emotions that occurred through the people of Iran.
Although there has been tremendous support of the account of Marjane, there have been a few critics
of the novel, attacking its overall literary value. For instance, New York s Ithaca College student paper
called The Ithacan, slammed the role Persepolis had on the literary society. In fact, they went as far to
say that the novel ...is worth broaching but its literary value, in terms of building vocabulary and
furthering comprehension, falls short. An absurd statement, to say the least. Not only is Persepolis of
literary value, it is a glimpse into the past. It allows the reader to understand the various conflicts that
the people of Iran were facing. Through the account of Marjane, the audience is exposed to elements
of Iranian history, gender roles, religion, and political fluctuation.
The story of Marjane opens during a fundamental time period of Iranian history, a period that
consisted of the Islamic Revolution. As stated earlier on in the novel, this revolution was the force that
caused the Shah to flee from Iran in the year of 1979. Like many others in Iran during this time,
Marjane and her family found no interest in the Shah. During his reign, the Shah showed signs of
diluting Iran s value of a constitutional monarch, and instead moved the country towards an absolute
monarchy. Additionally, with the U.S peddling the Iranian oil supply, many Iranians felt betrayed by
the Shah, as he became a so called puppet for the U.S. Because of this, his popularity slowly
plummeted, and an uprise began within the country. This uprise, is then shown through Marjane s
perspective. Therefore, through

Application And Results Of Computers
Applications and Results
Computers uses collision detection to detect whether a shape is within the boundaries of another
shape. If the shape is within the boundaries of the other shape, a collision detection occurs. The reason
behind collision detection is to demonstrate the laws of Physics. For instance, since any objects cannot
phase each other, the computer must demonstrate that two objects must be separate from each other
and not within one another.

Applying Circle Collision Detection
The following JavaScript code in figure 8 applies the Circle Collision algorithm and checks if the two
circles are intersecting [4]. If there is an intersection that is present, the green circle will change
colors.
Figure 8. The following is a JavaScript code that detects collisions between two circles.
In figure 8, the codes var circle1 and var circle2 defines the elements of the circle and what color it
represents before and after the collision. First, the variable dx and dy calculates the x axis and the y
axis of the two circles plus its corresponding radius. Next, the variable distance uses the distance
formula to get the distance between the two circle. Afterwards, it uses a conditional statement to check
for a collision if the distance is less than the combined radius of the two circles. Thus, the circle is
green in figure 8 as there is a collision. Figure 9 demonstrates a result if there is no collision between

Sigmund Freud s Oedipal Complex
Time period is everything, people in the two thousands are more reserved in thoughts than people
were in eighteen and nineteen hundreds. This exemplifies why Sigmund Freuds making of the Oedipal
Complex is outrageous. Freud s ideas of a child s development is very graphic and disturbing to our
modern day intellect, but fit the norm of early 1900 s society
Oedipus the King, written is 440 B.C., by Sophacles has fascinated audiences for many years.
However, Sigmund Freud came up with the Oedipal Complex based off of this play that has caused
plenty of controversy. He believed that, based of Oedipus the King and the attraction Oedipus had to
his mother, that all children share the same desire towards the opposite sex parent. From that one
instance, he created an entire complex that graphically lays out a child s development.
It is possible for a child to be attracted to their opposite sex parent at some point in time. But, taking it
as far as Freud did in stating that the child wants to diminish the other parent is absurd. Clearly, he
misinterpreted the text because that is not at all what happened in Oedipus the King. Oedipus did not
intentionally kill his father nor marry his mother. These events occurred due to the fate of Oedipus,
which he could not alter. He was separated from his parents at birth and did not find out till the end of
the play who they were.
Oedipus the King, became the King after he solved the riddle of the Sphinx. He was then asked to
save the city

The Impact Of Visible Minorities In Canada
What are visible minorities? Visible minorities are those people that are not native people or white
skined in race or non white in color. Canada is multicultural country that divides its population into
two categories; visible minorities and non visible minorities. It has been noticed that the number of
visible minorities is increasing per year in Canada (Black, 2009 p.71). The number and impact of
visible minority citizens of Canada is developing in terms of percentage of the population. Visible
minorities are also allowed to take an interest in different fields, for example social, governmental,
private limited and politics. They also have rights in all terms same as to white people. Many
immigrants from different countries based on work permit or study permit came here in canada. These
migrated immigrants have lot of opportunities to settle down , get education , and with that work is
also applicable. Canadian government had provide immigrants a special place in canada and made
rules and regultions as for canadians. That is why Canada is a multicultural society in which different
kinds of religions live together and cooperate with common language to describe each others feelings.
So, migrated people from different countries are called as visible minorites. However, visible
minorities are seen under present in the terms of political field in Canada ,but there is also some

What Are The Influence Of The French Revolution
Global Influence of the French Revolution
The French Revolution is a significant event in human history. It began in 1789 and ended in the late
1790s with the triumph of Napoleon Bonaparte. During this time, the french population transformed
their country s political landscape, bringing an end to monarchy, and became a republic. Within
France itself, the revolution led to the redistribution of church property to the government and to the
people. The most major contribution of the revolution is the Declaration of Rights of Man and the

C. To get moving onto the road there are some things that we have to do. a. First off, we have to
release the Emergency Break.
i. Failure to do so might result in damage to the transmission and engine.
b. Next we have to step on the clutch pedal and shift the car to first gear.
c. Then we have to slowly release the clutch and start pressing on the gas pedal.
Transition: Next thing you know you re moving, but your car is starting to roar, time to change gear.
D. Changing gear from 1st to 2nd is much easier than the initial start. a. First, you step on the clutch

clutch
i. Note that this has to be done quickly, but not too quickly otherwise the car will give kickback

DeVito, O Rourke and O Neill s (2000, p.99) definition of culture is very limited when describing
modern cultures of globalised human society. Perhaps where people are isolated to villages, towns or

Social amp; Cultural reality theory in action
Melissa Peters
Bachelor of Arts Student, Open Polytechnic
Introduction
How is it we know when to laugh, cry or shout? Or when it would be rude or inappropriate to do so?
Why is it we value integrity, honesty, respect...or not? And where do our religious or spiritual beliefs
and practices come from?
This essay looks at theories of social construction and their part in the development of cultural and
societal realities. We look at constructivism as a means of learning social norms, values, beliefs etc
using examples from the production Tapu (Smith and Haami, 2000). In particular we ll address the
theories of emotional construction and rule governing.
So what is social construction?
Social construction is the idea that our understanding of reality derives from interaction with others. It
refers to the way we create meaning and understanding to build collectively held beliefs. These beliefs
are called social constructions or constructs .
In the 1967 book, The Social Construction of Reality, Berger and Luckmann argue that all knowledge,
including the most basic, taken for granted common sense knowledge of everyday reality, is derived
from and maintained by social interactions. (Wikipedia, 2012).
Culture is a vital aspect of

All over America, there are people wandering the streets without a home. These individuals are seen
as a crowd, a separate collective existence. They are called the homeless, as if that defines who they

more fortunate citizens of America who have a roof over their heads have forgotten their innate
responsibility to watch over those in this world whom are incapable of caring for themselves.

These health centers are more interested in mid life crisis patients than in the seemingly incurable

Wade Black, of Defining the Homeless and the Mentally Ill , says :
If more of us understood how they struggle to overcome their illness, we would seek better ways to
assist them rather than to force them out of our communities...if we can establish humane housing that
includes the support services necessary to make the transition back to ordinary living, the homeless

Clinics need to be established specializing in only the homeless with a staff that is more considerate to

Significance Of The Magna Carta
The Magna Carta was a very influential document that helped to established for the first time the
principle that everybody, including the King, was subject to the law. The rule of law is a concept
fundamental to democratic forms of government and asserts that all, including leaders, must abide by
the laws of the nation. While the Magna Carta does not specifically state that the King is subject to the
rule of law, the document establishes that principle by imposing limits on the King s power. In 1215,
the Magna Carta was a peace treaty between King John and the Barons. First drafted by the
Archbishop of Canterbury to make peace between the unpopular King and rebel Barons, it promised
the protection of church rights, protection for the Barons from illegal imprisonment, access to swift
justice, and limitations on feudal payments to the Crown, which was set to be implemented through a
council of 25 Barons. Neither side stood behind their commitments, and the charter was annulled by
Pope Innocent III, leading to the First Barons War. In retrospect it was a failure, but it provided a new
framework for the relationship between the King and his subjects. After King John s death, his son
Henry III, reissued the document in 1216, stripping some of its more radical content, in an
unsuccessful bid to build political support for the new government. At the end of the war in 1217, it
formed part of the peace treaty agreed at Lambeth, where the document acquired the name Magna

Comparing Two Newspaper Articles
Comparing two newspaper articles, one from a tabloid and one from a broadsheet will convey the
different techniques that tabloids and broadsheets use to present stories. Media in general, aim to
inform and interest the audience which consist of many different types. Diverse emotions and ideas
are created by the media; foremost tabloids. Tabloids are papers like The Sun , The Mirror , The Daily
Mail , The Express and The Star . In contrast to these are broadsheets like The Times , The Guardian
and The Daily Telegraph . Broadsheets are often known as the quality press being more informing and
formal in the manner they convey information and news stories.

In this headline there is a comma missing after Sarah just to make the headline more catchy and
snappy. There is also alliteration M6 and man which labels the kidnapper as the M6 man. Hence, The
Sun sees the kidnapping story more newsworthy for its readers and so presents it in a more affective
way, regarding the layout.
In contrast to a broadsheet a tabloid s audience is aimed at socio economic group C and below.
Tabloids are aimed at a younger audience and focus on issues that their readers can relate to. The
targeted audience for the picture is everybody because The Sun wants everybody to see it and
hopefully recognize the kidnapper. It is easily recognizable that The Sun is meant for readers that may
or may not be highly educated, hence, it is called The People s Paper . Therefore, the language used
has to be simple:
Police also boosted the hunt yesterday by issuing an e fit (above) of a suspect.
The colloquial word boosted adds evidence that The Sun targets a simple audience; an audience which
do not have to be highly educated.
On the other hand, The Times targets socio economic group C+. Further more, the broadsheet is
targeted at the age group 30+ and readers absorbed in financial, political or other international matters
or events. Therefore, the broadsheet is associated with educated and capable readers:

Symptoms And Treatment Of Infection Control
Infection Control
Since the manual handling task requires close contact with the patient, all handlers should follow strict
infection control protocols in ICU. A recent study showed that by strictly following infection control
protocols the incidence of hospital acquired infections could be reduced (8). In addition, an
observational study concluded that better hospital wide infection control would reduce the number of
MRSA positive patients admitted to ICU and acquisition of MRSA within ICU (9). Therefore, it is
important to minimize the spread of the infection by performing the following aseptic techniques.
Hand washing is the most important methods of preventing the spread of infection (7). Radiographers
should wash their hands before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there is no universal approach and best practices must be adapted to fit the epidemiology of
specific ICUs and should also consider the available resources (10).
Radiation safety
Radiation safety of patients, radiographers and other individuals in ICU should be considered
according to the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principle. General radiation safety
principles include time, distance and shielding (7). Since the patient is male, no pregnancy check is
needed.
To protect the patient, the length of time that a patient remains in the path of the x ray beam should be
minimized. Therefore, it is important for radiographers to avoid unnecessary repeats and thus
unnecessary exposure. Gonad shielding should be used on patients if possible, which is particularly
important for young patients. In addition, proper collimations and adjusted exposure factors should be
applied according to patient situations to minimize radiation dose (7).
Radiographers should protect themselves as well. The time spent in radiation fields should be limited
by taking shifts. Radiographers should stand as far away from source as possible to increase distance
between radiation source and themselves. They should stand behind appropriate radiation shields or,
more commonly, wear appropriate protection (7). According to a previous study, lead apron is the
most common method of radiation protection as it may

Difference Between Menarche And Menopause
INTRODUCTION
Women who were the most dormant segment of the Indian population have now become active
participants in all aspects of life (Gyan, 2015). She bear s a special gift of bearing, rearing children.
The major concern in woman s life is reproductive health and they need enormous attention.
Menarche and menopause are the two important phases of the reproductive cycle. The menopause is a
time in women s life when the reproductive capacity ceases. In menopause, the post menopausal stage
is the time next to menopause and peri menopausal is the stage during which menopausal changes
occur (Pillitteri,1999).
In early menopausal transition, estrogen levels are generally normal or even slightly increased; the
level of follicle stimulating hormone begins to elevate but is generally in the normal range (Deborah
Grady, 2006). The women, in the transition to menopause, may experience vasomotor, psychosomatic,
urogenital, psychological symptoms, and an increased the tendency to obesity, as well as sexual
dysfunction. The prevalence of these symptoms linked to menopause different across ethnic,
socioeconomic groups and between urban and rural women (Das Gupta, et al. 2009). These ... Show

The starting point of the menopausal changes seems to be the reduction of the ovum in the ovaries
(Kirkwood, 1998). The female hormones produced from ovaries, which control the development of
female body characteristics such as the body shape, breasts, and body hair. Both estradiol E2 and the
peptide hormones Inhibin A and Inhibin B are secreted in the granulosa cells of the ovary, and the
quantity produced is influenced by the pituitary hormones; follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and
luteinizing hormone (LH). Declining levels of inhibin B and A is followed by increasing levels of FSH
and marks the onset of the menopause. LH levels also elevate, but less marked compared to FSH

The Reality Of War By Ambrose Bierce
The Reality of War
Death; destruction; crawling, bloody men without jaws; and a child in the middle of it is just a glimpse
of the grotesque short narrative Chickamauga by Ambrose Bierce. Chickamauga Creek is an area near
Chattanooga, Tennessee and northwestern Georgia, plagued by war, suffering, and bloodshed from the
Civil War (Bohannon). Bierce served in the Union Army during the American Civil War (Campbell).
Many Americans then, and today, romanticize war with glory, heroism, and patriotism. Bierce defied
literary status quo, creating graphic accounts of war, in an age of sentimentalism and melodrama
(Morris). Lesser publicized were the perspectives, thoughts, and realities of the soldiers after serving
and surviving in the civil ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The irrational mindset of leaders and generals in the Civil War led to needless bloodshed.
Once the boy comes upon the soldiers retreating from battle, he pretends to lead them onward with his
sword. The fact that he is pretending to lead them is significant in and of itself. Young men are thrown
into war, and move up the ranks quickly due to causalities. They are often young and inexperienced,
and catapulted into roles of leadership. Not having the experience to know how to be a leader, they
pretend to be the leaders in the overdramatized, delusional war tales of heroism and patriotism, just as
the boy did. He even tries to play with the soldiers, as they reminded him of the painted clown whom
he had seen last summer in the circus (Bierce, 58 59). Just as inexperienced young officers enter the
war with delusions of grandeur, oblivious of the realities of war, the boy is also oblivious of the
grotesque situation he has come upon. The boy eventually found his way back to his home, which he
found destroyed. Many of the leaders of the Civil War led their men across their own country, bruised,
bloodied and battered, only to return to their own homes, which were destroyed by war, as well.
The boy looks at the creeping, bloodied men, and draws a connection to circus clowns, and his father s
slaves who would creep upon their hands and knees for his amusement (Bierce 59). The boy thought

Analysis Of Casey At The Bat
Casey at the bat The author of Casey at the Bat uses humor all throughout the poem. He does this to
discribe Caseys experience. There are multiple examples all throughout the poem. The first example is
in paragraph four when the author writes There was Jimmy safe at second and Flynn a hugging third.
This is an example because it uses a hyberbolie when he says Flynn a hugging third. Flynn is not
actually hugging third base. the author is simple trying to imply that there is alot of pressure on Casey.

Even fifty years ago government carried about increasing of unemployment by reason of automation
rising in manufactories (The Automation Jobless 1961 quoted in Borenstein 2009). Big factories
prefer use robots to labour. An increasing of price of handmade production, when using of
manipulators costs extremely cheaper, may have been an important factor in this choice. (Ebel 1986,
49) For human worker it means that their job is becoming less necessary, and they get high risk to lose
their workplace. (Borenstain 2009, 88). For instance, Winner (1980 quoted in Borenstein 2009, 88)

Career As A Pharmacy Technician
Many years ago when I first decided to pursue a career as a Pharmacy Technician, I always believed
that I would be working in a retail pharmacy chain such as CVS or Duane Reade. As a CVS customer,
I would see the Pharmacist and Technicians working diligently behind the counter. I told myself I
want to do that, I wanted to help people take away their pain and begin the healing process. My career
started and I was typing and filling prescriptions for 8 hours with the occasional break to help a
customer find something within the store. I never considered working in a hospital Pharmacy because
I never experienced what that was like first hand. After working a year at CVS, I was eligible to take
the PCTB exam to become a certified Pharmacy technician (CPhT). While studying the material there
was another side of Pharmacy that I never knew about. I learned about hospital Pharmacy, it has the
same day to day operation that retail does but more. Having a degree in Chemistry from SUNY Stony
Brook University, labs were a big part of my education. The idea of a cleanroom and compounding
medication excited me; the closest to compounding in retail was reconstituting antibiotic medication
for children. This involved measuring and mixing water into a bottle. I left retail and searched for a
job that would further advance my pharmacy knowledge. I started working at NYULMC Pharmacy,
here I was exposed to information technology that was far more sophisticated compared to retail. As I

Physiology Lab 3 Activity 2 Essay
1) Make a graph of resting heart rates from Activity 1. Provide a physiological explanation for
fluctuations in resting heart rate over time. Discuss a couple of extrinsic factors that influence the
autonomic nervous regulation of resting heart rate.
The resting heart rate fluctuates over time because it is under control of the autonomic nervous system
and the fluctuations are a result of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems trying to balance each
other out.
There are many reasons on why the resting heart rate can fluctuate over time. Factors can include
things like the temperature of the room we were in, or what we ate/ drank for breakfast. Also volume
of liquid or chemicals in the cell can impact the heart rate.

Homeostatic is all about balance so when you begin to exercise, you need more oxygen. The harder
you breathe the more energy it takes to replace it. Your body temperature while exercising also
increases; typically it creates too much heat so your body has to figure out a way to release the heat so
it doesn t become dangerous. This is done by sweating
4) Compare and contrast oscillations in heart rate observed at rest (Activity 1), during exercise and
recovery exercise (Activity 2). Is the relative magnitude of the oscillations the same? Provide a
physiological explanation in your answer.
In the first experiment I was subject 2. For the most part my heart rate did not oscillate too much. My
heart rate was a little slower than the other subjects as well. Compared to Activity 2, his oscillations
while exercising were a little more dramatic. The reason for this could be that your heart is trying to
adjust to the new physically taxing activity that you are enduring. Your body is trying to balance, but if
it is thrown into a demanding activity it will take a little bit more adjusting than if you are just resting.
5) Describe how the normal range for any given measurement is obtained. Explain why published
values for normal ranges may differ and why these values must be continually checked and updated.
There really is no ideal reading for any measurement, it really just varies depending on your diet

Alice In Wonderland Essay
Throughout Alice´s Adventures in Wonderland, Alice encounters numerous creatures. These creatures
challenge, guide or offend Alice, which in the end helps her grow and rediscover herself. All
characters are important to Alice´s growth, yet some are more important than others. The first
character Alice encounters is the White Rabbit. During their meeting, the Rabbit mistakes Alice for his
maid Mary Ann, and requests she get his gloves and fan, which he forgot at home. His attitude
towards Alice, and others he considered inferior, is rather pompous, but he acts humble and shows
respect around the King and Queen. Based on this, I believe the White Rabbit could act as the
antithesis of Alice. Whereas Alice attempts to act polite towards everyone, ... Show more content on

The Caterpillar sits on top of a mushroom smoking hookah. Although he acts rude towards Alice, he
also gives her advice, helps her cope with the problems she encounters, and he teaches her how to
regain her proper size by eating parts of the mushroom. In many ways, the Caterpillar acts as the adult
of the story. He might not act friendly and polite, but he solves one of Alice´s biggest problems,
namely regaining her original height. Alice might seem mature, but the Caterpillar reminds the reader
that Alice is in fact a child, and that she depends on guidance to make sense of the world. He is also
the one who helps Alice become comfortable in her body. The Caterpillar could therefore represent the
importance of adult guidance, and how no one can solve all problems

Second, there is a physical device that connects the computer to the network of lines he is
communicating over. It could be a modem, a network card, a radio transmitter, or a router. Third, there
is a set of software that allows the computer to send data across this network. There are a lot of layers
to this software. At the top level, the computer sends some type of packet of data to the device and
across the network. Typically, this is a TCP/IP packet. This basically tells you what the format of the
data has to be, and what pieces of software computers need to have to send this kind of data. Finally,
at the game layer, the game determines what other computer it needs to connect to, sends a request to
the network device to establish the connection, and then sends data to the device so it can be sent. The
network layer, when it receives data on a given connection, doesn t just store it, it sends it on to the
application who has the connection. So the connection is essentially between two applications.
Focusing on the physical access; the possibility that data can be send to players around the globe is all
thanks to the infrastructure of telecom companies. Starting with the local access, which is provided by
the local telephone companies (Local Exchange Carriers). These entities are responsible for ensuring
the necessary access to the network and the reliable transportation of the information. The Local

  • 2. Substance Abuse And Bipolar Disorder Separately, substance abuse and bipolar disorder are two very serious conditions, and both have been proven to be caused in part by heredity. Shockingly, co occurrence of both disorders in a single person is a very common combination, and it can be very dangerous. People who have both bipolar disorder and an addiction are understood to have a dual diagnosis or genetic overlap . Often, each condition can worsen the symptoms of the other; having both problems increases the risk of mood swings, depression, suicide, and other violent behavior. Studies are still being done to determine the linkage between these two genetic ailments, but it is obvious that there has to be some relationship. The genetic heredity of both bipolar disorder as well as substance abuse have already been proven through data from families, adoption, and twin studies, and I m sure a positive link amongst the two conditions can be proven as well. The National Institute of Health has gathered information about people with these problems who actively seek help. They cite various studies from 1988 1996 that state 60.7 percent of people with bipolar I disorder had a lifetime diagnosis of a substance abuse disorder, and 48 percent of those with bipolar II disorder also had a substance abuse problem. Compare that to the 27 percent of unipolar depression patients who also have substance dependencies, and you begin to see a greater relationship appear. Those numbers are amazing to me, and definitely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Challenges Of Indian Students Face On Campus Indians students in US facing cultural disconnect on campus Indians love to boast about the cultural diversity of their land, but it is not until they arrive at a US university that they encounter the real thing. All said and done, some things are the same wherever you go in India, and there are not that many surprises. But new Indian students who arrive in the US are never quite prepared for the cultural tidal wave that await them on campus. However, most of them overcome the culture shock eventually and come to love their campus lives, so much so that they suffer a reverse culture shock when they visit home. The initial months of adjustment are the most difficult for Indian students. Here we discuss some problem areas and how students find solutions. Communication The main difficulty that Indian students face on campus is how to interact with other international and American students and teachers. A large majority of Indian students, even some of those who have graduated in the English medium from reputed schools in big cities in India, not to speak of small towns, struggle to converse with other students, particularly Americans. They are unable to understand popular American expressions, including idioms ( I ll take a rain check, you re on the ball, I m still finding my feet, etc.), words/phrases ( downtown, okra, check, etc.), and spellings ( caliber, program, traveling, etc.). American pronunciation also confuses Indians ( semai for semi, skedule ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Brief Note On Bluetooth Low Energy ( Ble ) CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION 1.1 Problem summary and Introduction Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is an emerging wireless technology developed by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) for short range communication. In contrast with previous Bluetooth flavours, BLE has been designed as a low power solution for control and monitoring applications. BLE is the distinctive feature of the Bluetooth 4.0 specification. According to the SIG, there would be almost 3 fold increase in the installation and usage of BLE in the next three years with a predicted growth of 287%. Thus in the coming future, BLE mode of Wireless Communication will likely become a significant component in the field of Technology. The widespread use of Bluetooth technology (e.g., in mobile phones, laptops, automobiles, etc.) has resulted in various project development. Exploring its potential application and using the improvement over its former technology to develop a device that would serve as an Asset Detection chip is our main purpose. Also, to reduce the dependency on a remote device and to enhance the use of Smartphones , we will sync the device with an android application. 1.2 Aim and objectives of the project The purpose of this project is to exploit the use of BLE technology and integrate that for real time applications. The project will require us to design, fabricate and implement an ATTACHABLE device that would be controlled by BLE communication and android application. 1.3 Problem ... • 5. The Problem Of Induction, Inductive Reasoning, And Weather The problem of induction, inductive reasoning, and weather or not nature is uniform, are questions that have been raised by many a great philosopher. Induction, and Inductive reasoning is when you make observations of past events and occurrences and base your knowledge on those observations. From these observations you make generalizations, the problem with inductive reasoning and the problem with induction is that, your observations generalize and assume, sometimes too much, sometimes on a very limited number of observations which is not necessarily enough to assume that you are in fact right in knowing about a certain thing. Imagine all the swans you had ever seen or heard about were white, and you had never seen or heard of a black swan before. You would then assume and think that there were only such a thing as white swans, and rightly so, but does this mean there is no such thing as a black swan? No, it just means there has not ever been a black swan that you have seen or heard of, but because of inductive reasoning, and your own observations you could make a false claim. The claim that there are only white swans. Inductive reasoning also assumes that because a sequence of events has happened in the past they will again in the future, this is called the uniformity of nature, The sun is an example of this, it rises every day and sets every night, and it has done so since the beginning of time. Therefore, due to the sun rising and setting in the past, due to inductive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Paradox of the Republic Paradoxes are ideas that seem to be in opposition to one another but are mutually needed to function. In Plato s Republic he discusses several paradoxes. While reading The Republic we can see which side of these paradoxes Plato favors. We find which side he feels should be stressed so that we may live in a reasonable and safe society and be better human beings. There are three categories in which these paradoxes have been divided into: ethical, metaphysical and political. Plato was a legendary Athenian philosopher. His main influence was his teacher, Socrates, whom he thought died unjustly. The Republic was written in dialogues narrated by Socrates. These dialogues were Socrates teachings as best Plato could remember them. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Plato was thinking out his Republic he felt society took president over the individual. The whole is greater than it s parts , he said. However, Plato also said, you need to balance the order of society with the rights of the individual. Plato felt in a natural state people would war against on another. That is why a civil or social contract is needed to keep man from killing one another. Man would then enter into this social contract for protection, to trade goods and services with others and simply to have their needs taken care of. For this social contract to be successful each individual must have a responsibility and an obligation to his fellow man and follow the rules of the contract. In this way the individual will gain but society will prevail. It is a give and take proposition. People are working for the benefit of society and individuals benefit from working for the society. Plato wanted to set up an interdependent society where we would service one another with competence, where each one would better themselves by working for the society and fulfilling different needs. Everyone would be working for the betterment of society and thereby helping themselves. We are stronger together than we are individually. In the paradox of order and change, Plato favors order. In Plato s Republic he speaks of a specific social order and feels that there are absolute laws and reasons without exceptions to keep that order. He feels ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When considering team sports, it can be linked that higher payroll teams win more games and win more championship. But, there should be a limit or salary cap in all professional team sports. This creates greater competition between teams and more excitement for the fans. If a league did not have a salary cap, only teams that have a history of winning games and championships are able to pay top dollars for the best players. This makes it very difficult for younger teams to succeed, or for new teams to enter the league. A prime example of a professional sport without a salary cap is Major League Baseball. The New York Yankees had the highest payroll in 2007 of $218.3 million, while the World Series champion Boston Red Sox was a distant second at $155.4 million. Not only having the highest payroll, the Yankees had the highest revenue in the majors of $415 million last year. By looking at the other end of the payroll column, one can link the payroll of the team to its success in the league. • 9. The Time Of The Butterflies By Julia Alvarez The struggle for equality has existed for thousands of years. The first decree of human rights was drafted by King Cyrus in 539 BCE and is still an evolving issue today (Finkel). The book In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez is a historical fiction novel written to tell the tale of the Mirabal sisters and their struggle against a dictator in the Dominican Republic. As women, the sisters were objects of discrimination by the dictator s regime. Their struggle against obstacles forced consequences upon them for speaking their minds in a censored society. Through Mate Mirabal, the youngest sister, we see a shift in characterization from a cautious adolescent to a strong woman who helps change her country. Joining the rebellion and spending time in jail changed Mate into a courageous person. In In the Time of the Butterflies, Julia Alvarez uses the change in Mate s characterization to describe the impact of oppression and people s need to have their voice heard. During her first year at boarding school, Mate is portrayed as a shy girl who is unable to stand up for herself. This is shown when Mate is unable to keep some girls from making fun of her. Her thoughts are written in a diary and they give us insight into how she feels and reacts to certain situations. Her diary is called her Little Book and she uses it to record her feelings when she is teased. Mate writes, And you might not know this, Little Book, but I always cry when people laugh at me (Alvarez 31). In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It will also be defining and giving understanding of the meaning of colonisation and the effects on the Māori people. This paper concludes with the impact of the Northern wars on Māori wellbeing and health in 1843 and the present. Capitalism, A Love Story By Michael Moore Capitalism definition is an economic and political system in which a country s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state . I personally do agree with capitalism and how it works in today s society. Different class people might have different opinions and ways they look and go through capitalism. They might have different opinions because of their income, loans, and how much money they personally have in the bank. Hand full of people get capitalism and socialism confused and in my opinion it is pretty simple. The differences are ownership, equality, efficiency, and employment. In capitalist how it is controlled by individuals and the property and business are owned by them as well. Capitalism has two sides to it; it can either hurt someone and their family or help them. In class we watched the film Capitalism, a Love Story , by Michael Moore that subjectively and objectively informed the viewers on the different situations happening in the result of capitalism. I believe that in the film capitalism, a Love Story , Moore did have valid reasons that I do agree with that the banks were very greedy. Companies, industries and individuals have an opportunity within a capitalistic society. Capitalism has lots of advantages, disadvantages, and different effects on different business. • 14. Who Is The Double Person In Macbeth The emotions some people portray, and the personalities they hide inside are often differing from one another. This can be explained by the insecurity of themselves. An example of an insecure person would be a bully. A bully disguises themselves as tough and rough being who belittles his/her peers, but on the inside they are truly weak people. By showing superiority, the bully feels more at ease with him/her self because they are not the ones being targeted and the attention is not on them. William Shakespeare s Macbeth creates characters such as Lady Macbeth and Macbeth to possess personality qualitites of the opposite gender. Critics, however, disagree as to why Shakespeare intended on creating these kinds of characters with Thomas F. Connolly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... the two sides of the double man are these: one is brave, honorable, strong, inclined to be conventional and not too bright, while the other is the devious character already described, who places intelligence, even a dark intelligence, above mere honor (31). In the play it is often seen how Macbeth is consumed by stress over doing the fair or foul thing, most often than not he chooses to do the wrong thing and is taken over by his sense of greed. We see a change in character in Macbeth from starting out as an honorable war hero to a weak, indecisive, and evil person. Connolly goes on further and says that Lady Macbeth and the witches represent an unconscious motivation. The witches deceive by falsely making true promises of success, and Lady Macbeth by her denial to seeing that there is moral consequences. In the beginning Macbeth is the one with the imagination; he quails before the deed because he can envision it before it occurs. His wife complains of what she calls his weakness because she is incapable of being appalled by an event which has not yet taken place (32). By seeing how unaffected Lady Macbeth is by certain situations we see how cold hearted she is and how distant she is from her feminine side of thinking. Macbeth is more morally conscious in doing the right thing than Lady Macbeth, but towards the end Macbeth shows a change in character proving the Double Man theory. Connolly then pin points the moment Macbeth turned dark and evil when he says to Lenox T was a rough night (Macbeth). He acts completely normal masking his culpability showing that he feels no remorse for what he had done. Connolly illustrates the insecurity of the characters by explaining his Double Man theory to show that the characters evolved from beginning to end in a negative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The doubling isn t merely symbolic, either, as there are numerous cases where the Governess is seen in the place of the spirits. When Mrs. Jessel is viewed crying at the bottom of the staircase, the Governess later finds herself in the same exact position and jumps up, repulsed by the memory of the specter. The fact that both women were on a lower step on the stairwell could also be representative of the psychological fear that the Governess holds of her possibly having a lowered social status or class based on her actions. • 22. History of Hearing Aids Essay The story of the hearing aid depicts one of the most ridiculous timelines of technological advancements in all of history. Although we modernly think of a hearing aid as a small device which is inserted into the ear canal, the reality is that a hearing aid is an apparatus that amplifies sound and compensates for impaired hearing. Thus, I invite you to expand your mind, and draw your attention to the intriguing, and absolutely absurd, timeline of the hearing aid. The most common model of the ancestral hearing aid is that of the simple ear trumpet. This was a small, pipe looking device which was carved from either bull s horn or seashell, and was held up to the ear in order to amplify sound. The audible result of such would ... Next we have the classic ear tube which was developed in 1887. Much like the childhood game of telephone in which the two styrofoam cups were connected with a piece of string, the ear tube was simply a long hose with a widened opening at either side. One end was placed to the lips of the speaker, while the other end was placed close to the ear of the hearing deficient listener. Effective, yet not exactly attractive to look at... Finally, in 1901, the first electric hearing aids were designed. Consisting of a carbon microphone, a processing unit, a battery box, and a headpiece, this hearing aid served merely as a personalized microphone/amplifier. It was bulky, heavy, and expensive to buy (at about $400.00 each), but it worked! Thus, its successors followed the same model, but the goal became a matter of size. It wasn t until 1953 that a person could wear a hearing aid that would go largely unnoticed. The Oticon pocket model was an aid that looked very much like an iPod its components being a small, pocket sized battery and processor, and an earpiece which look about the same as what we would now call an earbud . Although this was a major disaster, it brought to light the importance of proper safety equipment. If the Titanic had proper safety equipment and proper instruction on what to do in an emergency, the final death toll would be much lower. The titanic was an enormous ship that had many amazing features to it. When the titanic sank it devastated the world. The aftermath of the event was horrific, many people tried to help but not everyone could be saved. The Titanic was a huge 882 foot long, 92 foot wide, and 175 foot tall cruise ship that weighed over 46,000 tons. It belonged to White Star Lines, and was designed by Thomas Andrews. The company Harland and Wolff built the ship. It took 3 years, and $7.5million dollars to build ($167 million today). 3,000 workers made the ship, and each of its anchors weighed 15 tons. In May, 1911 the Titanic s hull, the largest man made moveable object it the world, made its way to River Lagan. The Titanic was equipped with 29 boilers that burnt up to 650 tons of coal every day. • 24. Literary Analysis Of Persepolis Taking place in the late 1970 s, Marjane Satrapi s Persepolis exemplifies a profound illustration of the county of Iran, including aspects of its people and political structure. Unlike a conventional composed novel, the story of Persepolis is expressed through both textual and visual representation; otherwise known as a graphic novel. Through the experiences of the ten year old character Marjane, the reader is exposed to historical events, movements, crises, and motives that occurred within Iran. Furthermore, the novel has gained much praise in its portrayal of emotions that occurred through the people of Iran. Although there has been tremendous support of the account of Marjane, there have been a few critics of the novel, attacking its overall literary value. For instance, New York s Ithaca College student paper called The Ithacan, slammed the role Persepolis had on the literary society. In fact, they went as far to say that the novel ...is worth broaching but its literary value, in terms of building vocabulary and furthering comprehension, falls short. An absurd statement, to say the least. Not only is Persepolis of literary value, it is a glimpse into the past. It allows the reader to understand the various conflicts that the people of Iran were facing. Through the account of Marjane, the audience is exposed to elements of Iranian history, gender roles, religion, and political fluctuation. The story of Marjane opens during a fundamental time period of Iranian history, a period that consisted of the Islamic Revolution. As stated earlier on in the novel, this revolution was the force that caused the Shah to flee from Iran in the year of 1979. Like many others in Iran during this time, Marjane and her family found no interest in the Shah. During his reign, the Shah showed signs of diluting Iran s value of a constitutional monarch, and instead moved the country towards an absolute monarchy. Additionally, with the U.S peddling the Iranian oil supply, many Iranians felt betrayed by the Shah, as he became a so called puppet for the U.S. Because of this, his popularity slowly plummeted, and an uprise began within the country. This uprise, is then shown through Marjane s perspective. Therefore, through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the shape is within the boundaries of the other shape, a collision detection occurs. The reason behind collision detection is to demonstrate the laws of Physics. For instance, since any objects cannot phase each other, the computer must demonstrate that two objects must be separate from each other and not within one another. Sources: http://jsfiddle.net/gQ3hD/2/ Applying Circle Collision Detection The following JavaScript code in figure 8 applies the Circle Collision algorithm and checks if the two circles are intersecting [4]. If there is an intersection that is present, the green circle will change colors. Figure 8. The following is a JavaScript code that detects collisions between two circles. In figure 8, the codes var circle1 and var circle2 defines the elements of the circle and what color it represents before and after the collision. First, the variable dx and dy calculates the x axis and the y axis of the two circles plus its corresponding radius. Next, the variable distance uses the distance formula to get the distance between the two circle. Afterwards, it uses a conditional statement to check for a collision if the distance is less than the combined radius of the two circles. Thus, the circle is green in figure 8 as there is a collision. Figure 9 demonstrates a result if there is no collision between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Freud s ideas of a child s development is very graphic and disturbing to our modern day intellect, but fit the norm of early 1900 s society Oedipus the King, written is 440 B.C., by Sophacles has fascinated audiences for many years. However, Sigmund Freud came up with the Oedipal Complex based off of this play that has caused plenty of controversy. He believed that, based of Oedipus the King and the attraction Oedipus had to his mother, that all children share the same desire towards the opposite sex parent. From that one instance, he created an entire complex that graphically lays out a child s development. It is possible for a child to be attracted to their opposite sex parent at some point in time. But, taking it as far as Freud did in stating that the child wants to diminish the other parent is absurd. Clearly, he misinterpreted the text because that is not at all what happened in Oedipus the King. Oedipus did not intentionally kill his father nor marry his mother. These events occurred due to the fate of Oedipus, which he could not alter. He was separated from his parents at birth and did not find out till the end of the play who they were. Significance Of The Magna Carta The Magna Carta was a very influential document that helped to established for the first time the principle that everybody, including the King, was subject to the law. The rule of law is a concept fundamental to democratic forms of government and asserts that all, including leaders, must abide by the laws of the nation. While the Magna Carta does not specifically state that the King is subject to the rule of law, the document establishes that principle by imposing limits on the King s power. In 1215, the Magna Carta was a peace treaty between King John and the Barons. First drafted by the Archbishop of Canterbury to make peace between the unpopular King and rebel Barons, it promised the protection of church rights, protection for the Barons from illegal imprisonment, access to swift justice, and limitations on feudal payments to the Crown, which was set to be implemented through a council of 25 Barons. Neither side stood behind their commitments, and the charter was annulled by Pope Innocent III, leading to the First Barons War. In retrospect it was a failure, but it provided a new framework for the relationship between the King and his subjects. After King John s death, his son Henry III, reissued the document in 1216, stripping some of its more radical content, in an unsuccessful bid to build political support for the new government. Therefore, the language used has to be simple: Police also boosted the hunt yesterday by issuing an e fit (above) of a suspect. The colloquial word boosted adds evidence that The Sun targets a simple audience; an audience which do not have to be highly educated. On the other hand, The Times targets socio economic group C+. Further more, the broadsheet is targeted at the age group 30+ and readers absorbed in financial, political or other international matters or events. Therefore, the broadsheet is associated with educated and capable readers: Sussex police repeated calls for the man to come forward to be eliminated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Symptoms And Treatment Of Infection Control Infection Control Since the manual handling task requires close contact with the patient, all handlers should follow strict infection control protocols in ICU. A recent study showed that by strictly following infection control protocols the incidence of hospital acquired infections could be reduced (8). In addition, an observational study concluded that better hospital wide infection control would reduce the number of MRSA positive patients admitted to ICU and acquisition of MRSA within ICU (9). Therefore, it is important to minimize the spread of the infection by performing the following aseptic techniques. Hand washing is the most important methods of preventing the spread of infection (7). Radiographers should wash their hands before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there is no universal approach and best practices must be adapted to fit the epidemiology of specific ICUs and should also consider the available resources (10). Radiation safety Radiation safety of patients, radiographers and other individuals in ICU should be considered according to the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principle. General radiation safety principles include time, distance and shielding (7). Since the patient is male, no pregnancy check is needed. To protect the patient, the length of time that a patient remains in the path of the x ray beam should be minimized. Therefore, it is important for radiographers to avoid unnecessary repeats and thus unnecessary exposure. Gonad shielding should be used on patients if possible, which is particularly important for young patients. In addition, proper collimations and adjusted exposure factors should be applied according to patient situations to minimize radiation dose (7). Radiographers should protect themselves as well. The time spent in radiation fields should be limited by taking shifts. Radiographers should stand as far away from source as possible to increase distance between radiation source and themselves. They should stand behind appropriate radiation shields or, more commonly, wear appropriate protection (7). According to a previous study, lead apron is the most common method of radiation protection as it may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Difference Between Menarche And Menopause INTRODUCTION Women who were the most dormant segment of the Indian population have now become active participants in all aspects of life (Gyan, 2015). She bear s a special gift of bearing, rearing children. The major concern in woman s life is reproductive health and they need enormous attention. Menarche and menopause are the two important phases of the reproductive cycle. The menopause is a time in women s life when the reproductive capacity ceases. In menopause, the post menopausal stage is the time next to menopause and peri menopausal is the stage during which menopausal changes occur (Pillitteri,1999). In early menopausal transition, estrogen levels are generally normal or even slightly increased; the level of follicle stimulating hormone begins to elevate but is generally in the normal range (Deborah Grady, 2006). The women, in the transition to menopause, may experience vasomotor, psychosomatic, urogenital, psychological symptoms, and an increased the tendency to obesity, as well as sexual dysfunction. The prevalence of these symptoms linked to menopause different across ethnic, socioeconomic groups and between urban and rural women (Das Gupta, et al. 2009). These ... Both estradiol E2 and the peptide hormones Inhibin A and Inhibin B are secreted in the granulosa cells of the ovary, and the quantity produced is influenced by the pituitary hormones; follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Declining levels of inhibin B and A is followed by increasing levels of FSH and marks the onset of the menopause. LH levels also elevate, but less marked compared to FSH (Overlie I, et al. ... • 46. The Reality Of War By Ambrose Bierce The Reality of War Death; destruction; crawling, bloody men without jaws; and a child in the middle of it is just a glimpse of the grotesque short narrative Chickamauga by Ambrose Bierce. Chickamauga Creek is an area near Chattanooga, Tennessee and northwestern Georgia, plagued by war, suffering, and bloodshed from the Civil War (Bohannon). Bierce served in the Union Army during the American Civil War (Campbell). Many Americans then, and today, romanticize war with glory, heroism, and patriotism. Bierce defied literary status quo, creating graphic accounts of war, in an age of sentimentalism and melodrama (Morris). Lesser publicized were the perspectives, thoughts, and realities of the soldiers after serving and surviving in the civil ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The irrational mindset of leaders and generals in the Civil War led to needless bloodshed. Once the boy comes upon the soldiers retreating from battle, he pretends to lead them onward with his sword. The fact that he is pretending to lead them is significant in and of itself. Young men are thrown into war, and move up the ranks quickly due to causalities. They are often young and inexperienced, and catapulted into roles of leadership. Not having the experience to know how to be a leader, they pretend to be the leaders in the overdramatized, delusional war tales of heroism and patriotism, just as the boy did. He even tries to play with the soldiers, as they reminded him of the painted clown whom he had seen last summer in the circus (Bierce, 58 59). Just as inexperienced young officers enter the war with delusions of grandeur, oblivious of the realities of war, the boy is also oblivious of the grotesque situation he has come upon. The boy eventually found his way back to his home, which he found destroyed. Many of the leaders of the Civil War led their men across their own country, bruised, bloodied and battered, only to return to their own homes, which were destroyed by war, as well. The boy looks at the creeping, bloodied men, and draws a connection to circus clowns, and his father s slaves who would creep upon their hands and knees for his amusement (Bierce 59). • 49. Career As A Pharmacy Technician Many years ago when I first decided to pursue a career as a Pharmacy Technician, I always believed that I would be working in a retail pharmacy chain such as CVS or Duane Reade. As a CVS customer, I would see the Pharmacist and Technicians working diligently behind the counter. I told myself I want to do that, I wanted to help people take away their pain and begin the healing process. My career started and I was typing and filling prescriptions for 8 hours with the occasional break to help a customer find something within the store. I never considered working in a hospital Pharmacy because I never experienced what that was like first hand. After working a year at CVS, I was eligible to take the PCTB exam to become a certified Pharmacy technician (CPhT). While studying the material there was another side of Pharmacy that I never knew about. I learned about hospital Pharmacy, it has the same day to day operation that retail does but more. Having a degree in Chemistry from SUNY Stony Brook University, labs were a big part of my education. The idea of a cleanroom and compounding medication excited me; the closest to compounding in retail was reconstituting antibiotic medication for children. This involved measuring and mixing water into a bottle. I left retail and searched for a job that would further advance my pharmacy knowledge. I started working at NYULMC Pharmacy, here I was exposed to information technology that was far more sophisticated compared to retail. As I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Physiology Lab 3 Activity 2 Essay 1) Make a graph of resting heart rates from Activity 1. Provide a physiological explanation for fluctuations in resting heart rate over time. Discuss a couple of extrinsic factors that influence the autonomic nervous regulation of resting heart rate. The resting heart rate fluctuates over time because it is under control of the autonomic nervous system and the fluctuations are a result of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems trying to balance each other out. There are many reasons on why the resting heart rate can fluctuate over time. Factors can include things like the temperature of the room we were in, or what we ate/ drank for breakfast. Also volume of liquid or chemicals in the cell can impact the heart rate. 2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Homeostatic is all about balance so when you begin to exercise, you need more oxygen. The harder you breathe the more energy it takes to replace it. Your body temperature while exercising also increases; typically it creates too much heat so your body has to figure out a way to release the heat so it doesn t become dangerous. This is done by sweating 4) Compare and contrast oscillations in heart rate observed at rest (Activity 1), during exercise and recovery exercise (Activity 2). Is the relative magnitude of the oscillations the same? Provide a physiological explanation in your answer. In the first experiment I was subject 2. For the most part my heart rate did not oscillate too much. My heart rate was a little slower than the other subjects as well. Compared to Activity 2, his oscillations while exercising were a little more dramatic. The reason for this could be that your heart is trying to adjust to the new physically taxing activity that you are enduring. Your body is trying to balance, but if it is thrown into a demanding activity it will take a little bit more adjusting than if you are just resting. 5) Describe how the normal range for any given measurement is obtained. These creatures challenge, guide or offend Alice, which in the end helps her grow and rediscover herself. All characters are important to Alice´s growth, yet some are more important than others. The first character Alice encounters is the White Rabbit. During their meeting, the Rabbit mistakes Alice for his maid Mary Ann, and requests she get his gloves and fan, which he forgot at home. His attitude towards Alice, and others he considered inferior, is rather pompous, but he acts humble and shows respect around the King and Queen. Second, there is a physical device that connects the computer to the network of lines he is communicating over. It could be a modem, a network card, a radio transmitter, or a router. Third, there is a set of software that allows the computer to send data across this network. There are a lot of layers to this software. At the top level, the computer sends some type of packet of data to the device and across the network. Typically, this is a TCP/IP packet. This basically tells you what the format of the data has to be, and what pieces of software computers need to have to send this kind of data. Finally, at the game layer, the game determines what other computer it needs to connect to, sends a request to the network device to establish the connection, and then sends data to the device so it can be sent. The network layer, when it receives data on a given connection, doesn t just store it, it sends it on to the application who has the connection. So the connection is essentially between two applications. Focusing on the physical access; the possibility that data can be send to players around the globe is all thanks to the infrastructure of telecom companies. Starting with the local access, which is provided by the local telephone companies (Local Exchange Carriers). These entities are responsible for ensuring the necessary access to the network and the reliable transportation of the information. The Local Exchange ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
