The Romans Were Influential People Essay
Learning Activity 2 The Romans were influential people. They were once, the power head of the
world. Their value system included the belief in eclecticism, practicality, and imperialism. This
evidence that the Romans made their worldview known throughout the world, including these
three key values. First, Merriam Webster dictionary, defines eclectic as selecting what appears to
be best in various doctrines, methods, or styles. It also composed of elements drawn from
various sources; also heterogenous. This is a good definition to the Romans. They sought out
what was best in all areas of life. The Romans were eclectic in Philosophy, in their art, and their
methods of living life. Which also defines the meaning of eclecticism. Eclecticism is also known
to be the first recorded to have been practiced by a group of ancient Greek and Roman philosophers
who attached themselves to no real system but selected from existing philosophical beliefs those
doctrines that seemed most reasonable to them. Out of this collected material they constructed their
new system of philosophy. The term comes from the Greek бјђОєО»ОµОєП„О№ОєПЊП‚
(eklektikos), literally choosing the best, and that from бјђОєО»ОµОєП„ПЊП‚ (eklektos), picked
out, select.Well known eclectics in Greek philosophy were the Stoics Panaetius and Posidonius, and
the New Academics Carneades and Philo of Larissa. Among the Romans, Cicero was thoroughly
eclectic, as he united the Peripatetic, Stoic, and New Academic doctrines. Learning

The World A More Eco Friendly Environment
The society we live in today, has made efforts to make the world a more eco friendly environment.
For the most part, different industries have made a push to better the ecosystem. The oil industry
developed a clean fuel refinery, a design to eliminate or minimize solid waste. The automotive
industry has promoted cars that are fueled by power instead of gas, to decrease pollution, and the
manufacturing industry has gone green by developing new equipment that uses less energy. It is
almost as if going green has become trendy . Our society made it clear to corporate America that
living in a more environmentally sound world was important to them. In 2014 it was noted that an
estimated 17 to 20% of water contamination came from areas of the fashion industry, and that the
fashion industry, is the 2nd most polluting industry in the world. Who would have thought that the
clothes we wear had such a colossal impact on the environmentthat surrounds us? However, just
like the oil, automotive and manufacturing industry, the apparel industry is continuing to make
progress in creating greener fashion. Social responsibilityis the concept that drives industry s steps
towards a healthier environment. It is the ethical frame work that proposes that an organization
needs to be accountable for any action that affects society at large. It is the responsibility that
individuals have to preserve the balance between an ecosystem and the economy. On the contrary,
the fashion industry has

Unit 1 Golf Research Paper
Hole In One
Golf is one of the most fun sports in the world, but it is also a game that requires a lot of
patience. There is almost a golf course in every town so it is not hard to find a place to play. You
might say but it s to hard but with these simple tips you can be the king of the course.
What Is Golf?
Golf is a sport in which a player uses clubs to get a ball into a hole usually a great distance away.
There are not many rules in golf except you can not touch the ball with your hands, unless you hit
it out of bounds and are moving it into play. The only other time you can touch a ball is if you put
a marker down on the ground to show where the ball was that you just picked up.
What Are the Different Clubs? When looking... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Don t be confused though if one day a friend can golf it is a sport that you can play against
yourself you can just see how low of a score you get by yourself then brag to you friends or
family members. There is also people that say that golf should not be played with carts and prefer
to walk the course, in my opinion, it doesn t really matter, whether you walk the course or use a
golf cart as it doesn t really change the game that much.
Best Courses
Pine Valley golf course in New Jersey is famous for being one of the most difficult golf courses in
the world. With a mixture of beautiful scenery and difficulty. Cypress Point, this course is both
difficult and maybe the most beautiful course. Located in pebble beach. This course has water
surrounding almost every hole.
Golf Balls
You might be wondering is the ball really that important to the game. Well yes and no is it helpful
to have a better ball yes it allows for more control and longer shots. The one thing you have to
remember is a ball can t really make your game better or worse only very good golfers can tell the
difference in the balls. So for right now I would say get a medium of the range ball not to
expensive but not super cheap. A good middle of the line golf ball is

The American Form Of Music
Country music is constantly changing, an example of this is how women are now viewed in
country music. The American form of music became popular in the 1920 s, and continued to grow,
artists of this era include the Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers, and Vernon Dalhart. One of country s
most well known female singers is Dolly Parton, becoming a major country star in the 1970 s.
Dolly was one of the first female artists to challenge the gender stereotypes in country music, this
major success led to her long career. She has contributed over 35 hits to country and popular
music, including her album Coat of Colors released in 1971, by RCA records was the album that
changed her career. The 8th solo album made it onto Time Magazine s 100 Greatest... Show more

Firstly, I choose the album Coat of Many Colors because of my strong love for country music.
Dolly Parton is a well known household name, and in my house is a name that is cherished. I
personally believe that the 1970 s was one of country s finest years, where the era produced
many top hits. An example of one of these top hits is Parton s Coat of Many Colors. The album
also invoked my interest is learning about the ways that Parton changed country music. It is
inspiring to hear about a strong female figure making her own career in a patriarchal society. This
invoked my interest in the album, learning about the effects that this album had. Overall, I feel as
this album personally spoke to me and intrigued me. The dynamics of the Coats of Many Colors
helped to popularize it and establish and portray Parton s musical abilities. The album includes 14
different tracks spanning a total of less than 30 minutes. The album contains a variety of different
music styles and instruments. It is said that the album has ties to the old time country and folk
music. Yancey Strickler writes that it dabbles in bluegrass and roots music, features triumphant,
Memphis style R B, and winks at the majesty of pure pop, all in a tidy 27 minutes (Strickler).
Instruments that were used in the tracks were guitar, steel guitar, bass, piano, drums, banjo, fiddle,
and it incorporated the use of background vocals. Emotions of anger, humour, reflection and

Carpe Diem Analysis
Aaron Jeu
Ms. Wagner
English 1B
22 June 2017
Rough Draft: Life and Death Carpe Diem is a Latin phrase, which often tends to denote a
significant literary theme found in popular culture, including Peter Weir s Dead Poets Society or
Green Day s song, Carpe Diem. However, it is also especially common in lyrical poetry.
According to Oxford Dictionary, it is used [as encouragement] to make the most of the present life
while it lasts or live for the moment. Both Dylan Thomas s Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good
Night and Robert Frost s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening explore the notion that
individuals should endeavor life to its fullest. In his poem, Thomas expresses a very passionate,
pleading voice to deeply allure his audience. In contrast, Frost communicates his approach in a more
pensive, practical, subtle style that slyly provokes the audience to think about their own fate.
The collective theme of the two poems is similar in that both explain that death is imminent, that
individuals should not take for granted the time they have left on Earth, and that people need
courage to face death, and to realize that death can wait. However, Thomas utilizes an ardent,
compelling tone to assert his beliefs that individuals should partake in a more dynamic role and
embrace what will happen to them during their lives. On the contrary, Frost believes that every
human has a timely death and that people should strive to fulfill their commissions before giving in
to death.

Imagery In Plato s Allegory Of The Cave
Some of the key images Plato uses in his Allegory of the cave are the shadows coming from the
fire the prisoners see as they are chained up. Every time a prisoner gets a glimpse of these
shadows they can t help but wonder what these shadows represent. Since the prisoners have been
locked up away for most of their lives they really have know understanding what these shadows are.
The shadows represent a worldthat only the prisoners know, its really the only world or way they
have known. These shadows are never fully understood by the prisoners until one of the prisoners
is set free. When the prisoneris freed from his imprisonment he is then shocked by what he
witnesses. The prisoner sees a whole new world; this world was very shocking to him because he
had no idea that this world had even existed in the first place. His imprisonment was the only way
of life he had ever known. This knew world that the prisoner witnesses represent the deal world, or

because their imprisonment was the only world they had ever known. I think that this story is a
good example of being enlightened/educated or discovering the truth. I think that the truth in
this story in this story is the new world the released prisoner saw. He had been enlightened that
his imprisonment was not only the bad life, but it wasn t the only life he could have. He had a
sense of comparing the two worlds so he could which was the good life and which was the bad
life . The reality would have to be the new world that the freed prisoner witnesses. This was the
moment in the story when he could finally compare the two worlds and realize that the life he was

The Positive Causes Of The American Revolution
Amid growing tension between England and her American Colonists, the British passed the
Intolerable Acts, a law that created a punitive tax for the destruction of Tea in the Boston Harbor.
Though the British saw the Intolerable Acts as a compromise in dealing with the vandalism, the
American colonists were enraged. Their anger led to the creation of the First Continental Congress
and paved the path for the conflict of the American Revolution.
The American Revolution lasted from 1754 to 1788 with the commission of the intolerable acts
occurring in the midst of this during 1774. Great Britain taxed the colonists after the French and
Indian war. This battle marked the beginning of the Revolution. Colonists had been controlling their
own government for years when the British saw fit to tax the 13 colonies. The intolerable acts only
served to fuel the colonist s anger and ultimately ended in the independence of those colonies.
Though the effects may have been negative for the British, the positive outcome for the Americans
marked the beginning of The United States history.
There was a series of events leading up to the intolerable acts that all added to the ire of the
colonists. With a fitting name, the coercive acts were a ploy by the British to gain back control of
the colonies. The Boston Port Act served to close the trade in the city and shut down all commerce
there. Massachusetts Government Act and the Administration of Justice Act were both attempts to
gain back

Power Of Sexual Jealousy In Oliver Parker s Othello
Othello is a film based on the famous Shakespeare tragedy: Othello. The film was produced in
the United Stated and released on December 15, 1995 in the United Kingdom and United States.
The film s main plot is evolved around the power of sexual jealousy and how it can make people
to act on their emotions instead of their rational mind. The film was directed by Oliver Parker, and
he made many changes from the original play to make the 21st century audiences easier to
understand the power of sexual jealousy. Parker hired famous actors to cast the four major
characters in the film such as Laurence Fishburne (Othello), Irene Jacob (Desdemona), Kenneth
Branaugh (Iago), and Nathaniel Parker (Cassio).I believe Oliver Parker s choice of adding additional

Iago was practicing some military drills with Othello, which foreshadows that in the future they will
fight.
In my opinion, Kenneth Branaugh (Iago) was the best actor in that movie. He was able to show his
cunningness through his tone of voice and sneaky posture. His representation of Iago demonstrated
the evilness within the character of Iago. I believe Kenneth Branaugh portrayed Iago better than any
other actors that I have ever seen.
I am very glad that the movie modified the scene, when Iago tried to persuade Othello to kill
Cassio and Desdemona. In the original play, Othello turned from a calm mood to a very hatred
mood to Desdemona and Cassio in five minutes, which is not realistic. However, the movie changed
the time frame that it takes two days for Othello to change the mood instead of just five minutes.
At the end of the movie where Othello stabs Iago after he realizes that Iago was lying the whole
time. Othello was unarmed at this point until Cassio gives Othello a dagger to stab Iago. It is clear
that the director wants to let audiences know that Cassio forgives

The Advantages of homework, classwork, and formative assessments

Yet, homework does have an advantage, it can build good study habits and grades. Homework
helps boost test scores tremendously. Since it s a practice assignment, students get a view of
what they ll be learning. Practice assignments do improve scores on class tests at all grade levels
(Cooper). Students can fully understand their new lesson when provided with homework.
Everyone knows that by practicing something, they can get better at it. This is the same idea
with homework, students practice, and eventually get pleasing grades. Although all grade levels
can benefit from homework, it is really beneficial to high schoolers. If a country like the U.S
were to decrease the amount of homework assigned to high school students, test scores would
likely decrease unless additional supports were added (O, Furniture). Unlike other countries,
homework is a major part to lead to success. This proves that students, especially high school
ones, need homework to achieve the desirable scores they want. Homework is also a great way to
study for a test. Beyond achievement, proponents of homework...claim it can help students develop
good study habits so they are ready to grow as their cognitive capacities mature (Cooper). Studying
is a huge part in getting a pleasing grade in the subject. When a student studies homework, they can
comprehend what is being taught more clearly. This will

Essay On Public Speaking Anxiety
Public speaking anxiety There are many ways to help control public speaking anxiety, and it
seems that just about everybody has some methods that help them feel confident while
presenting. Some people pray beforehand or take deep breaths to get their nerves under control.
Some people even visualize the audience in their underwear. Some tactics that work for me are
to find some people in the audience that I know so that it feels like I m only talking to them and
not a large group of people or to just dress in something that makes me feel confident. Of course,
everybody knows that no matter what you do being fully prepared and rehearsed for your
speech is going to make you more confident in delivering the speech and make it sound better to
the audience. Throughout the years ,I ve experienced various times when I ve had to speak in
front of others and sometime the results were better than others. One of the first times, I can
remember speaking in front of my class was in sixth grade for a project about different counties
in Arkansas. I was assigned a small county I had never even heard of before but after a little
research I found out some interesting facts about the county that fascinated me. This caused me to
be very involved and proud of my work. When it came time to present my speech I was very
prepared and excited to share what I had found out. Through my experience I have learned that
being proud of what you are saying or the work you put into the assignment affects how

What Does Corporate Responsibility Mean
What Does Corporate Social Responsibility Mean?
Corporate initiative to assess and take responsibility for the company s effects on the environment
and impact on social welfare. The term generally applies to company efforts that go beyond what
may be required by regulators or environmental protection groups.
Corporate social responsibility may also be referred to as corporate citizenship and can involve
incurring short term costs that do not provide an immediate financial benefit to the company, but
instead promote positive social and environmental change.

The term corporate social responsibility came into common use in the late 1960s and early 1970s
after many multinational corporations formed the term stakeholder, meaning those on whom an
organization s activities have an impact. It was used to describe corporate owners beyond
shareholders as a result of an influential book by R. Edward Freeman, Strategic management: a
stakeholder approach in 1984.[2] Proponents argue that corporations make more long term profits
by operating with a perspective, while critics argue that CSR distracts from the economic role of
businesses. Others argue CSR is merely window dressing, or an attempt to pre empt the role of
governments as a watchdog over powerful multinational corporations.
CSR is titled to aid an organization s mission as well as a guide to what the company stands for
and will uphold to its consumers. Development business ethics is one of the forms of applied
ethics that examines ethical principles and moral or ethical problems that can arise in a business
environment. ISO 26000 is the recognized international standard for CSR. Public sector
organizations (the United Nations for example) adhere to the triple bottom line (TBL). It is widely
accepted that CSR adheres to similar principles but with no formal act of legislation. The UN has
developed the Principles for Responsible Investment as guidelines for investing entities. corporate

In this paper, Nyerere s views on education are examined with a view to determine the extent of
their relevance to contemporary theory of education in Kenya. This analysis is concerned with 3
aspects. First, an exploration of possible theoretical contexts of his views on education is
undertaken with a view to obtaining a basis for an intelligible discussion. Second, an examination
of education for self reliance is undertaken. This is followed by an analysis of education for
liberation as espoused by Nyerere. This is followed by a delineation of salient views that can enrich
contemporary education in Kenya. Theoretical framework The liberal theory Liberalism envisions
the ideal society to be one that embraces a wide range of individual liberties. These include,
personal dignity, free expression, religious tolerance, right to own property, freedom of association,
transparency of government, limitations on government power, the rule of law, equality, free
market economy and free trade (Wikipedia,http://en.wikipedia.org/Liberalisms). It is incumbent
upon government to uphold these freedoms in order to guarantee stability and peace. In addition,
liberalism tends to encourage representative democratic governance. Here, the elected
representatives are guided by the rule of law under the overall guidance of the constitution.

Managers And Owners Are An Aggressive Cost Reduction
Managers and owners are also carrying out an aggressive cost reduction. They understand the
importance of improving, maintaining low overhead costs and closely monitor suppliers. But for
the reduction of fixed costs become possible, they reject many small customers without growth
potential operational complexities associated with too customized products. In addition, there has
also been a huge investment spurt in low cost automation and re engineering of production lines,
aiming to reduce labor costs and increase the quality consistently. With regard to the supply chain,
manufacturing decades have shaped an ecosystem of vendors specialized by sector, forming
different clusters throughout the entire country. Each cluster has very competitive costs through
specialization because they can benefit from the scale established exploiting its capacity, its
accumulated know how and experience of its skilled workers. Clusters can also apply a business
model based on a network of partners and / or interlinked competitors, which allows you to
reconfigure the supply chain and that adjustments can be made quickly. Quality Factor The
different pressures on suppliers to reduce costs have caused tensions and distortions. It is for this
reason, companies find it difficult to establish long term relationships with suppliers. Nonetheless,
most buyers still uses this direct approach to reduce costs, and many Chinese factories will do
whatever is necessary to satisfy. The responsible buyers and

The Safety And Health Standards Essay
Introduction
The occupational safety and health standards ensures the understanding in hazardous
communications. The hazardous communications section ensures also the transmission of
hazardous materials and chemicals appropriately. The development of hazardous communication is
implemented especially in written communication program in order for the employees to apply it in
the working environment. This is essential because it serve as the protective measures of the
employees in the work place.
The OSHA Training programs provides training programs which could help the employees
regarding the use of chemicals and safety standards. The section 1910.1200 (b) (1) states that the
manufacturers of chemicals and hazardous materials should be classified and labeled the chemical
materials in order to create a protective measure to the employees. The import chemical and
producers should ensure that the information about the materials are held before it reached the
workplace.
Definition
The Hazard Communication Standard is set for protecting employees from hazardous materials.
The Hazard Communication Training is also implied in a work environment for those employees
who are prone in dealing with hazardous materials. This is done through communication with
employees about the hazardous chemical inventory, the material data sheets, safety data sheets,
labels, tags, signs, and the written communication hazard program (Keller, 1953).

Modern Femininity And Gender Roles
Though Hannah Höch may be a jack of all trades in the art realm having dabbled in painting,
drawing, printmaking, textiles, pattern making, and photography she certainly is a master of
collage. A German artist of the 20th century, Höch is primarily known for her turbulent romantic
relationship with Czech artist Raoul Hausmann, one of the founders of the Berlin Dadamovement.
Hausmann credited himself and Höch as the inventors of photomontage. Höch uses her collages
to comment and critique the unstable sociopolitical state in Germany at the time. Her collages also
highlight the growth of mass media and new technology. Perhaps most importantly, Höch
challenges the concept of modern femininity and gender roles through her work. As the only female
Berlin Dada artist, Hannah Höch takes a unique and important perspective on the social and
political changes occurring in 20th century Germany. Höch was born in 1889 in Gotha, Germany.
She moved to Berlin in 1912 to study calligraphy, embroidery, wallpaper design, and graphic art
(National Museum of Women in the Arts). In 1915, she met Raoul Hausmann, with whom she had
a seven year relationship. From 1916 to 1926, she worked in the handicrafts department of a
magazine and newspaper publishing company. Her work included designing knitting, crocheting,
and embroidering patterns. Later on, she incorporated lace and embroidery patterns in her
photomontages juxtaposing these traditional women s crafts with modern culture. In 1926,

Bordone And Tintoretto Comparison
Painters other than Bordone have also painted the scene in which Christ is with the doctors.
Bordone is clearly influence by one of these paintings while painting his work. It is said that the
painting by Bordone is indebted to a similar depiction of the same subject by Tintoretto (Ilchman,
Christ Disputing in the Temple, in Eye of the Beholder). When we look at Tintoretto s version of
the painting, we can see clear similarities between both his and Bordone s. The immediate
similarities being the use of light, as well as how Bordone chooses to shift the painting to capture
the most interesting moments in the story, rather than show just one snippet of the action presented
in the written work. In Tintoretto s, we cannot see Mary or Joseph in sight, much like the Hofmann

Bordone would have most likely seen this painting before he painted his. This is due to the fact that
both him and Tintoretto are Venetian painters, and both were assistants to Titian, another very
famous Venetian artist (Ilchman). While the perspective offered in Tintoretto s painting is not
naturalistic, and the scale of the many figures is rather skewed, we can still see the influence he
had on Bordone. In Tintoretto s painting it shows the same dramatic scene that Bordone paints. The
figures are all in movement, looking at books, debating with either Christ, or themselves. Which is
essentially what Bordone s painting is demonstrating as well. Tintoretto also depicts Christ on a
throne surrounded by the doctors, which mirrors Bordone s. The only difference from Tintoretto s,
is that there are less people, and Christ is not in the exact center in Bordone s painting. Bordone
uses a more realistic approach to his painting than Tintoretto. Tintoretto chooses to make the figures

Cutlass-Beaked River Hawk
The Cutlass beaked river hawk, or aceros amnicus, is a very unique bird of prey. The latin root
aceros means sharp, and amnicus means it is from a river. It lives near rivers and has very sharp
talons as well as an extremely sharp beak, which goes along with its scientific name. The sharp
talons allow it to catch prey trying to flee from it. It s feet are rather large, and that makes
catching moving prey and gripping on to trees much easier. This hawk lives in an environment
in which the amount of fish and small mammals is abundant. Since it feeds on this type of prey,
it s relatively easy for the hawk to find food. Most of the time it is able to catch its prey because of
its incredible speed, sharp talons, and beak. It s feathers are very aerodynamic, allowing it to...

It has a dark green color, which allows it to blend in with the bushes and other vegetation around
it. This helps it because it can also sneak up on its prey and hide from predators. Since it is able
to fly very high, they build their nests high up in the trees by the river. This provides its chicks
with plenty of protection from predators on the ground. This can also pose a threat for the hawk
s chicks since there is a possibility that a chick can fall out of the nest. This is very unlikely to
happen, since the mother hawk is always reinforcing the nest with various twigs found along the
riverbank once the chicks have hatched, while the male hawk watches over the baby birds or
catches food for them. The female river hawk lays the eggs, which must be kept warm and dry in
order for the unborn chick to survive. The nest also must be reinforced when the mother it

The Mass Of Mass Communication Essay
Modern life has become accustomed to the use and influence of mass communication. The
telegraph, gramophone, radio transmission, and moving images such as television are some of the
earliest forms of mass communication that became entangled with various capitalist government
regulations and an interpersonal mass audience. In the 1980 s a second mediarevolution began to
emerge with the technological advancements of digital convergence which is the ability to access a
range of multimedia content across a number media platforms with a number of devices. This essay
will discuss whether due to these advancements, is it time the idea of mass communication needs to
be re evaluated, and with the increasing using of multifunctional communication tools, whether or
not the mass communication era has ended.
Mass communication may be interpreted differently to a number of people. Many relate the
method to the shear number of people engaging in the type of communication, the mass of the
people or size of the audience. However others may focus of the second part of the word,
communication and think of mass communication in the traditional sense that it was based of the
idea of exchange (Chafee Metzger, 2001, pp. 355 356). Until recently, mass communication was
the idea of connecting with a large audience and a vast demographic, however that no longer
applies due to the arrival of media channels. The number of radio and television channels has
dramatically risen along with the

Examples Of Catalase Lab Report
Part A was just a beginning. The experiment showed us what a normal catalase reaction really is.
We had one basic procedure; observe what happens when you add hydrogen peroxide to beef
liver. At first we were just amazed by the bubbling product, we did not realize that a chemical
reaction was going on. We had to redo the experiment so we could note that heat was being
released as well as a combination of harmless gasses. We timed the reaction and learned to
estimate the reaction rates by the time. We descovered that the bubbles were actually two main
gasses, 2H2O and O2. They were being released due to the break down of a harmful gas H2O2.
Another experiment we did was testing if catalasewas reusable. We discovered that it was, in fact,
reusable. The basics of a normal catalase reaction is what we learned about part A. Everything kept
growing more and more into depth with our experiments as we went on during our lab.
CONCLUSION PART B... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Harmony Theory In Phaedo By Plato
In Phaedo, by Plato, Phaedo recounts an incident with Socrates. The story starts with Socrates
opening up saying that Philosophers should not only accept death, but welcome it. After all,
although the body will pass, the soul is able to live on because it is immortal. He uses a lot of
his intuition to back up his claim, but the main rationale is the Argument of Affinity. He claims
that the world is very binary. Things are either incorporeal and invisible, or not. The body is
physical, visible and corporeal. Things like the body that are visible are part of the sensible world
and do not last. The soulhowever is not. It is invisible and incorporeal. That is why Socrates
believes the soul is immortal. Simmias counters Socrates claim bringing... Show more content on

Clearly the harmony of the lyre is not immortal. Harmony doesn t survive the lyre, but rather is
dependent upon the lyre. The lyre is similar to the human body and soul. Harmony is divine and
incorporeal. However, the human body is much like the lyre in that it is both corporeal and
visible. Because the lyre is held together in the proper way and at the right degrees, it is able to
exist just as the soul does only through the appropriate ways and make up of the human body. This
leads to the point that just because things are invisible and incorporeal does not necessarily mean
they are immortal. We need to think of the soul as a different type of harmony.
Socrates objects Simmias claims and refutes Harmony Theory many ways, but the one I find
most notable is that Socrates believes that the soul is the master of the human body and directs
and controls the body. Since the soul is eternal and the body is not, the soul controls the body
throughout the entirety of its life. Socrates comments, further, of all parts of a man, can you
mention any other part that rules him than his soul, especially if it is a wise soul? (Plato 132).
Because it has this power, it tells the body what to do, where to move, and how to act. This is
different than the harmony and the lyre. For example, on the other hand, we previously agreed that
if the soul were a harmony, it would never be out of tune with the

Theme Of Human Nature In Brave New World
After observing the novel Brave New World along with an article titled, Catholic Church Corrupt
To Its Core, Says Survivor one can conjure the idea that human nature will always persevere. Since
the birth of mankind this concept has been instilled in the minds of people. It is the nature of
humanity to feel uncontrollable emotions and feelings that promote certain actions. This ranges
from undergoing a state of overwhelming rage to possessing a heightened amount of fear to
becoming engulfed in jealousy. These are undeniable traits of humans as seen in Brave New World
because of the key figures in the novel that despite Hypnopædia and childhood conditioning, enact
elements of innate emotions. When viewing Bernard Marx, one sees that he is different from the
other Alphas and quite frankly, the rest of the population. He continuously experiences jealousy of
Henry Foster s intimacy with Lenina and sadness that his physical shape is deformed. From birth,
children become conditioned to be happy and not to experience these emotions since it could
potentially cause social instability. No matter the amount of soma Bernard consumes, he always
finds a way to come back to these strong desires of love and depression. The reader can also observe
Helmholtz Watson s ambition to write rhymes that have more significant and influential meaning.
Watson was predestined to cease from thinking about creating literature that disrupts society as he
expresses, ...I ve got something important to

Techie 12 Research Paper
If fishing is your thing, but you want a paddle board that is a little smaller than the Dragonfly 13
6 , then the Techie 12 is a good choice. While previous paddle boards from Dragonfly could be used
for fishing, the Techie has been specifically designed for the hard core angler. According to
Dragonfly, the purpose of the board is frill free fishing, but this doesn t mean that they skimped on
features.
What makes the Techie special is the fact that it is hand crafted using vinyl ester resin with bi
directional fabric. It also has a 30 inch beam and beaded foam core. Dragonfly included two
cubic square feet of forward dry storage in the twelve foot hull and a small circular well in the
aft. The forward storage is insulated and the aft well is compatible with an optional pump. Also on
this board you ll find three flush mounted rail systems and how you customize it with camera

Revenge Porn Australia
Introduction
Sexual explicit Non consensual photography or Revenge Porn is on the rise and without adequate
laws the epidemic will only grow. Revenge porn is the sharing of intimate images of an individual
without the subject s consent. In Australia, the distribution of images may not be deemed a
criminal offence unless the images are of a child or an obvious criminal activity such as sexual
assault. In order to explore the issue of revenge porn, this paper firstly looks at how Australia is
adapting with changing legislation amendment. Followed by the current rules and laws already
established such as; defamation, Privacy Act (or lack thereof), breach of confidence, copyright and
lastly the application of cybercrimes. The paper will conclude with how strong current Australian
private laws are with assisting revenge porn cases.

There are relatively few laws dealing especially with this phenomenon. Victoria, the Northern

The Defeat of Many by One Essay
The Defeat of Many by One
In The Moor s Last Sigh, Salman Rushdie uses the complex and changing character of the Moor to
represent a complex and changing image of India. By making the eclectic family history of the Da
Gama Zogoiby family the central theme in the first two parts of the novel, Rushdie portrays India as
a culturally and religiously pluralistic society. This pluralistic society is layered by violence
caused by the corruption of multiplicity by various characters and the threat of Hindu
fundamentalism. As pluralism is defeated by fascism in Part Three of the novel, the nature of the
violence changes drastically and is symbolized by the Moor s significant character change: The

The Zogoiby s diverse history entails attempts to embrace many of these ideals. The eclectic
cultural backgrounds of the Zogoiby family are representative of pluralism in India. The Da
Gamas are Portuguese Catholics while the Zogoibys are Moorish Jews. All of the Moor s
ancestors blatantly reject religion and embrace secularism: an arguably important component of
pluralism. When Camoens went to see Gandhi speak, he told his wife Belle, I hear nothing. I had
seen India s beauty in that crowd with its soda water and cucumber but with that God stuff I got
scared (Rushdie 55). Another example of pluralism within the Zogoiby family is Aurora s artwork,
especially her childhood paintings in which she strives to represent the variety and multiplicity in
the vision of the world and the vision of India. As Aurora ages, however, her childhood visions of
pluralism are significantly changed.
Although Aurora s later paintings also embrace pluralism, they reveal possible catastrophe: A
place where worlds collide, flow in and out of one another, and washofy away. Place where an air
man can drowno in water, or else grow gills; where a water creature can get drunk, but also
chokeofy on air. One universe, one dimension, one country, one dream, bumpo ing into another, or

Evaluating Football Players
Evaluating Football Players Essay
by
D. Cummings It may seem overly simplified and obvious to state that player evaluation is critical
in generating success and wins on the football field. A coach may have the greatest system and an
amazing game plan laid out but, without the right players in the right positions the only thing a
coach will collect are losses. This is true of coaching recreational and youth football through the
professional ranks. Player evaluation is not only about addressing the physical skills needed for
specific positions but, it is also about plugging in the right players who posses the temperament and
character to lead the team in all critical situations on the field. Coach Trimble has a very ... Show

The first thing a coach at the youth level evaluates is the physical ability of the players. Timed
sprints, agility drills, and ball handling (catching and throwing) drills give a coach a baseline of
data to work from after the first practice. Coach Trimble has a staff that can handle the collection
of most of this type of data. A coach at the lower levels may not have any assistant coaches and
needs to be prepared to be the sole collector of raw data and anecdotal notes on each player. If at
all possible, youth coaches should try to illicit help from parents in collecting data.
Tracking and collecting player information and data can be done using a good old fashion clip
board and paper however, there are a number of outstanding apps for both iPhone and Android
systems that enable a coach to track and maintain up to date player statistics. Nextplay is excellent
app that has a good reputation for helping coaches stay on top of player development but, it
requires a monthly subscription if you want to use it beyond the initial try out period. iGrade is
another quality app for coaches to use in the evaluation of players and provides other helpful coach
friendly functions.
It should be obvious after the first practice which players have have a general aptitude for the
skilled positions. Continued collection of data from drills and sprints should be used to confirm

The repeating rifle was a new type of weapon had a greater range and was more accurate than the

Hydrogen passenger balloons were used to spy on confederate camps by the union. Ironclads were

Comparing Zefferelli s Production of Romeo and Juliet with Luhrman Production In this essay I
am going to write how the production of Romeo In Franco Zeffirelli s production of Romeo and
Juliet, the setting and language are of a traditional, realistic nature. This is in complete contrast to
Baz Luhrmans production, with the exception of the language used in both productions. Zefferelli
s production however is far more effective, as he has tried to keep the film close to the original
script and intended exactly how Shakespeare wrote it. This approach clearly portrays the concept
Shakespeare is trying to demonstrate and it sincerely aids understanding, as Zefferelli has kept it

Zefferelli does not vary the camera shots as much as Luhrman does, although he uses different
angles to suit the atmosphere he wants to create. He also uses many natural sounds, e.g. crowd
noises, horses travelling. I have noticed in the opening, he uses non diegetic sounds until Romeo
s entrance. Luhrman uses a lot more music, which is of great significance as this is what creates
the atmospheric moods of the play. The lighting varies greatly in each play. It plays an essential
role in displaying the importance of character or in setting an atmosphere. In Zefferelli s
production, the lighting in the opening scenes is of a dull, low key nature (no detail), and then
develops as the market stall scene commences; the lighting is now high key, showing more detail.
This is in complete opposite to the lighting used in Luhrman s production, as Luhrman applies high
key lighting straight from the beginning. Zefferelli in his production shows a distinct contrast in
the outfits worn by the two individual, different families. Both Luhrman and Zefferelli use a
stereotype view on the clothing. The use of sets in the film makes it far more effective and
realistic. Zefferelli uses all the old fashion original props, such as swords etc. Luhrman replaces
these swords applying the modern approach to killing, using guns.

Paganism And Christianity In Beowulf
The significance of Paganism and Christianity are both present in Beowulf. Beowulf was written
between the 8th and 10th century s, when the Anglo Saxon society was beginning to change
from Paganism to Christianity. Many believe that this is essentially a pagan work since the
Christian faith hadn t fully arrived in the Anglo Saxon society. However, according to Douglas
Wilson, The poet could easily have known individual Christian Anglo Saxons who had converted
from paganism (page.31); this showing how the author would have been able to retrieve
information about the customs and morals of Christianity. Christianity is a religion based upon
monotheistic beliefs, belief in one personal and transcendent God and based through Jesus s
teachings. This religion teaches that God has a path for everyone, that people may choose to
follow and live by him. The epic poem through the years, has been based upon Christianity but
still contains a good deal of Pagan elements. Paganism is a religion founded before Christianity,
having no belief in a personal god and based more on the concept of fate, that people do not have
control over their life. In Beowulf, God is praised for all of his works by Beowulf himself, and the
other characters. While also believing that fate controlled the character s lives. The Pagan
components in the epic Beowulf are clear in the characters superhuman representations. Beowulf is
portrayed as a hero. Beowulf willingly saves the Danes from Grendel. In his fight

The Role Of Sin In Edgar Allen Poe s Poetry
I do believe that Edgar Allen Poe illustrates a biblical view of sin throughout out his writings. He
just shows multiple representations of sin in each writing he wrote. Edgar Allen Poe was a very
interesting man who was very dark in many of his writings. He wrote many twisted stories
throughout his life but he also had meaning behind each writing he wrote. In Poe s first assigned

describes evil when he refers to a little poem, which says, Prophet, said I, thing of evil! prophet

Free the Children
About the NGO
A non governmental organization (NGO) is a non profit group which can be organized on a
local, national, or international level. The NGO I selected is Free the Children. The short form
used to identify it is FTC. The purpose of the NGO is to free children from poverty, exploitation,
and the notion that they are powerless to effect change. The co founders are Craig Kielburg and
Marc Kielburg. It was founded in Thornhill, Ontario in 1995. The head office is located at 233
Carlton Street Toronto, Ontario M5A2J2, Canada.
The Current Problem in Haiti
A current problem in Haiti that Free The Children is focusing on is education. Following the 7.0
magnitude earthquake that destroyed Haiti on January 12th, 2010; hundreds of school buildings
were destroyed and the education system was left wrecked. This is affecting society because
currently Haiti s literacy rate is 62% and only less than half of the country s children attend school.
About 37% of students actually reach the sixth grade out of the 60% of the students that enroll.
Free The Children is currently working in an area where 90% of the schools built are built by
community based, non governmental, and/or religious organizations that are trying to rebuild the
education system.
What Does it Hope to Achieve?

The display of a dystopian society is distinctively shown in The Handmaid s Tale, by Margaret

Categorized as a handmaid, Offred s sole purpose in living is to simply and continuously play the
role of a child bearing vessel. That being the case, there is a persistent notion that is relatively

Handmaids are no longer able to identify with the name they had lived by throughout their
lifetimes. In a sense, this was also the erasure of their previous past and who they used to be. To
hear the names of others, handmaids learn discrete ways to communicate with one another. We
learned to lip read...watching each other s mouths. In this way, we exchanged names, from bed

women to preserve the aspects of their lives before the creation of the new society. In a way, it
serves as a reminder that they were once someone and it s a way of reliving their past. Women
no longer have the privilege of even choosing their own name of whom they want to be identify
as. From my understanding, women do not have a choice but to forget their past as it was a
taboo, along with their previous name. Freedom was once a familiar ideal but the Republic of
Gilead has normalized the notion in which women are restricted and watched of their every
movement. It is a common move, as noted in history, to resist the education of the oppressed.
Applying this idea to the Gilead society, women were restricted from reading to halt their need for
education. They decided that even the names of shops were too much temptation for us. Now
places are known by their signs alone. (25) This extreme method of suppression reveals the true
intentions of the oppressors. In what way does this protect women? It

Climate Change, Animal Welfare And Immigration Essay
New President election, constant climate change, overpopulation, war, segregation, cruelty to
animals, so many phenomena are happening every day in this world. Christians are often think that
they cannot involved or be actively engaged in the current issues, because we easily think that we
are too mediocre to make the change. However, we cannot forget that Godsees all of us in the same
way without favoritism and equally love us. Knowing that, our little action will definitely
participate and shape the problem in the better way. Our Christian priority is we, together must
absorb the teachings of God and Jesus Christ and practice what we learned from them in the
present. I am going to focus on the common yet crucial issues we face today: climate change,
animal welfare and immigration. When we aim more attention at the words of God, we can easily
figure out which action will be righteous.
Climate change already started long time ago, and it has been one of the greatest life threatening

marijuana). A lot of people around the world are still ignorant about marijuana and its uses. They
do not even know about its existence. Marijuana is a slow poison that deteriorates the body and
the person consuming it loses the ability to think about his own welfare. When a person loses the
ability to think, that is when his downfall starts. There are effective uses of marijuana, yet there are
also serious issues that should be considered and therefore, all this leads us to research more deeply
into this matter and make all possible efforts to understand the causes and effect of marijuana more
effectively.
Marijuana can lead to a lot of genetic damage to our human body which can further result in other
ailments. Based on the results of an experimental study published in the journal Chemical Research
in Toxicology (2009), investigators reported that carcinogenic potential of marijuana is attributed to
compounds like acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde can change the structure of DNA in our body which

As With Any Other Comparative Analysis, This Essay Will
As with any other comparative analysis, this essay will discuss the similarities between two
elements. The elements in this situation are the Republic of Ireland and the United States of
America. The three specific ways that these two countries can be compared are via: economic and
political outlook, social and cultural issues, and resources and work culture. Additionally, each
country is known throughout the world. Primarily because of their business structure. The first
factor that will be addressed is economic and political outlook. To begin one will address the
political outlook of these two countries, and with that comes the form of government. Both are
republics. With the United Statesbeing a constitutional federal... Show more content on

branch, both countries have a Supreme Court ( The World Factbook: IRELAND , 2017, Pg. 1).
Whose role is to hear legal cases of significant magnitude to the country and/or its citizens. One
key difference is that in Ireland the judges in the Supreme Court cannot serve past age 70 ,
whereas in the United States the judges are appointed for life ( The World Factbook: IRELAND
, 2017, Pg. 1). Hence, the age of justices varies between these two republics. These three major
branches of government can also overlap at times to provide a peaceful resolution or to resolve
active disputes. Now for the economic outlook of these two countries. This comparing, and
contrasting segment is more difficult than the political outlook. Since, these two countries do vary
quite significantly in terms of population and size. For instance, Ireland s population as of July
2016 was just below five million, which is incomparable to the roughly 324 million United States
population ( The World Factbook: IRELAND , 2017, Pg. 1). That means the Irish population could
be added about 65 times to reach the American population. However, these two nations do have
some similarities. First, both countries rely heavily on technology to propel their economic growth
and expansion. For Ireland has a talented pool of high tech laborers and

Advantages Of Keeping Exotic Pets
Pets are our human good companions and best friend in life. Keeping a pet can make our life
more cheerful and delight. While most of the people keep dogs, cats, hamsters as well as rabbits
as their pets, but it is not strange and there is more people than you think around this world keep
lions, tigers, bears, wolves, kangaroos and also other exotic animals as their pets. Should we human
be allowed to keep and raise exotic pets? I chose this assignment question because I found it
interesting and I want to know more information about exotic pets.
An exotic animal is a rare, strange, valuable and precious animal. An exotic animal usually thought
as a wild and undomesticated species that is not suitable kept within human household as an animal
pet. Nowadays, human have been fascinated by the idea that people can keep exotic animals as
their animal pets in their household. But in reality, keeping an exotic animals as a pet usually has a
terrible and tragic life for the owner and also the animals.
I m pretty sure that my answer is same with most of the people, that is No! Nobody should be
allowed to keep and own exotic animals as their animal pets.

Alcohol Should Be Illegal
Many Americans do not feel like adults until their 21st birthday. At age 18 an American has the
ability to vote, be drafted or enlist into the military, own a weapon, request a loan, get married,
buy cigarettes and many more liberties and consequences that come when a teenager becomes an
adult. Nonetheless, in the United States and adult does not have the ability to legally drink until
the age of 21. I find the regulation of alcohol necessary and as a protection for the citizens
because, as the article Effects of Alcohol Use states, the abuse of alcohol contributes to liver
damage, leads into driving under the influence, domestic violence and in the long term it can cause
cancer and death of brain cells. However, I believe that the alcohol regulation is bias and should be
at the same level of liberty as voting, joining the military, owning a weapon, buying cigarettes,
requesting a loan and getting married.
My opposition to the alcohol restriction until age 21 is based in that the liberty and restriction
of an adult should be the same for all ages. If an adult has the capacity to vote and decide what is
best for the future of the country at age 18, the ability to drink should be granted as well. In
contrary, if a person has to wait until the age of 21 to drink, the same restriction should be included
for smoking, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On The Movie Hamlet
In a shocking turn of events, by the grace of God, director and actor Kenneth Branagh made a two
hundred and forty two minute Shakespeare movie watchable. We begin with a wedding celebration
between Claudius, Hamlet s uncle, and Hamlet s mother. Hamlet s father, the King, has suddenly
died an untimely death. The colors in this scene are bright and white, the color of innocents and
newborns. Flower petals are descending from the ceiling in joy, and everyone is cheering. From
there, we pan over to a solitary figure in the hallway, Hamlet. Hamlet, clad in black, watches the
kingdom rejoice at the celebration while he is still in mourning for his late father. As a viewer, we

Hamlet has a very convoluted plot. It begins with Hamlet seeing his father s ghost and telling
Hamlet that he was wrongfully murdered by his own brother, the new king of Denmark. His
father s ghost asks Hamlet to avenge him and take back the crown. This scene really sends
Hamlet down the rabbit hole because we know later on in the film that he has a difficult time
pursuing his uncle, Claudius (played by Derek Jacobi). The prince of Denmark goes through
madness, murder, an unsure love interest, he directs a play, conspires against friends, and finally
gets revenge against his uncle, but not without killing almost everyone in the movie. As
mentioned earlier, Ophelia (played by Kate Winslet) is a young and beautiful lady who is in
love with Hamlet. However, her father and brother tell her to stay away from Hamlet because he
only sees her as an object of lust. We see more of Ophelia in this movie then we do in the play. In
the actual play, it mostly focuses on Hamlet and his madness, but in Branagh s film version we get
to see the effect Hamlet has on everyone. This includes the new king, Claudius who is seen as a
vicious and cunning serpent. Hamlet s sweet and gentle mother, the queen, was thrown into a
plague over her worry for Hamlet and his sanity. Other characters include Polonius, Laertes,
Horatio, and Fortinbras, all who contribute to Hamlet s downfall or witness

Bad Habits Developed Over Time
A habit, by definition, is an act which is repeated by a person without the individual being aware
that they are continuously displaying or committing that certain behavior. There are many bad
habits a person can develop over time. Some of these could include having a drug habit, an
eating disorder, or many other undesirable behaviors. These negative habits can all be broken and
could lead to positive outcomes if they were to be broken successfully. Many of the habits
considered to be bad require a personto make specific changes in their life in order to conquer said
habit. There are a plethora of different steps and/or tasks that can be used to assist a person with the
daunting task of breaking an unwanted habit.
One of the first steps that must be completed by a person wanting to end a habit they believe to be
detrimental is to acknowledge the action and to be aware of their situation. In some instances, this
requires the person in question to admit that they exhibit problematic behavior because of the habit
they have. The act of admitting that their actions lead them to repeat negative acts or thoughts
because of their habit is essential to eliminating it. With this in mind, an individual must be aware
of an issue before it can be resolved. Knowing the habit is present and affecting your life in a
negative fashion is a very important step within this process.
Many people have different things in their lives that they would like to change. A step that could be

Harvey Milk, By Rob Epstein And Milk
One way to represent a person s life and achievements can be through a movie, be it documentary
or narrative film. A person worth documenting is Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected
official in the United States who fought for gay rights and inspired equality for the United States.
There are two mainly renowned films about Harvey Milk, which will be compared for this essay:
The times of Harvey Milk (1984) by Rob Epstein and Milk (2008) by Gus Van Sant. The first is an
independent documentary about Harvey Milk s life and legacy with a big focus on his friends
and associates as they remember him along with archival footage, whereas the second is a
mainstream multimillion dollar dramatic Hollywood film recounting Harvey s life more from
his perspective and with a star studded cast. These two portrayals are different between approach,
tone and style. The way this essay will approach these movies is by comparing how the two films
portray Milk, how these take from what can be considered gay cinema and which can be
considered the more realistic portrayal of Harvey Milk. When analyzing both the documentary and
the mainstream film, one must first determine some of the important facets in gay cinema. Images
about gay people seem to be more varied and recognizant of homosexualitythough they may
obscure other stereotypes or sectors of the LGBTcommunity (Filaire 11). This is something both
films may do in the end, since bisexuals or transgender are not present, but it serves as a

Berlioz Ide Fixe Analysis
The idГ©e fixe mentioned in Berlioz program was a French term, borrowed from contemporary
psychology, for obsession. The idГ©e fixe went beyond mere fascination or attraction into
disordered thinking and to Berlioz was more than a musical motif; it was an affliction that caused
physical symptoms such as muscle twitches and nervous anxiety. Indeed, after Harriet Smithson
initially rejected Berlioz, he was distraught. He stopped sleeping, and he wandered the city at
night, sometimes falling asleep in an open field or slumped over a cafГ© table. This disorder
thinking and behavior was described by Berlioz himself and by psychologyat the time as
monomania, a mental disease in which a person has an obsession that drives them to the point of
desperation and sometimes melancholy. Monomania is then seen as a Romantic illness, afflicting
the creative and the hero, and this illness played a central role in Berlioz conception of the Artist,

The repeated motive provided a sense of programmatic continuity as well as unified the entire
symphony. The idГ©e fixe represented the hero s imagining and obsession with his beloved. It is an
unusually phrased melody, an unbalanced 15 measures in length. Mollod stated that this motive
represents the protagonist s complex feelings toward the beloved, a figure who will turn out to be
both his imagined savior and his tormentor. Langford writes that the innovation of the symphony is
not the idГ©e fixe, but the way that Berlioz transformed the melody through cyclical repetitions of
it throughout the symphony. The source of inspiration for this compositional technique was
Beethoven s fifth symphony, which Berlioz heard two years prior to writing the Symphonie
Fantastique. In each movement, the idГ©e fixe personifies in a different form and in different
frequencies, expressing the artist s changing

Is Hercules A Modern Day Hero
Heroes can be classified into two categories in our society: superheroes of the fictional kind and
those given the title of hero because they begin as a normal person and do something
extraordinary. Superheroes are a much more Herculean concept as Hercules was destined to be
able to perform the feats that he did during his labours . If he had not been Zeus son and had not
been given the strength as a power, he might not even be a hero. His destiny was to be a hero, as
fated by the gods to rule over Mycenae (Perseus (and Bellerophon), 123). Hercules does not match
the average criteria of a modern hero, nor do his motives behind his labours and adventures follow
the values of an altruistic person.

Andy Goldsworthy appreciates the natural flow of a river, the force of a tide coming in. He

Technology Standards For The Outsourcing Of The Software
Technology Standards
The first technology standard relating to the outsourcing of the software writing would be the
Base Operating System. The two teams must decide on a base OS to be used. This will allow for
easier sharing, troubleshooting, and future support of the product. This need for this standard is
because most programing software packages offer solutions for Windows, Linux, Unix, MAC.
The issue arises if one team is using one OS platform and the other is using another, even if they
are using the same application to write the code there may be differences which could cause
problems in future bug fixes.
The idea of a standard platform goes beyond the writing suite and extends into all expects of the
work. This primary standard will be a basis for all other applications chosen by the company from
email to collaboration.
The Second concern would be the level of encryption for the SSL VPN. The level indicated by the
India group is very poor and considered unsecure by most measures. The ability to break the
encryption is much easier with the lower bit encryption used. Both teams need to agree on a
minimum encryption to use that would be both secure enough to ensure that data is not
compermised but yet not so intrusive to the data that causes lag in transmission. The outsourcing
company in India would should have a good understanding of the legal specifications of encryption
for data moving between the 2 companies. Generally there is a max encryption put in

Examples Of Falsity In Fyodor Dostoevsky s Notes From...
PART 1: UNDERSTANDING THE UNDERGROUND MAN Falsity is defined by the online
Oxford dictionary as the fact of being untrue, incorrect, or insincere . In the novel Notes from
Underground, Fyodor Dostoevsky highlights the falsity, or artificiality of not only Russian
individuals, but of Russian culture as a whole. The novel describes falsity as people who are
superficial and shallow. While the main character, the Underground Man, did not consider himself
a slave to the falsity, he observed it in others he came into contact with. A good example of this is
when the Underground Man went to dinner with his friends (they were hardly so). At this dinner,
he mentions how the individuals are good looking on the outside but rather unintelligent on the
inside. At one point, he even says that one of them has a handsome but silly face (Dostoevsky),
thus indicating that on the outside, his face was handsome but at the same time he was also silly ,
or foolish and shallow. They were not who the portrayed themselves to be.... Show more content on

Fraud Orchestrated By Three Senior Executives Of Fair...
SUMMARY OF KEY FACTS.
This case involved a fraud orchestrated by three senior executives of Fair Finance Company (Fair)
which had its headquarters at Akron Ohio. This fraud occurred from at least 2005 through
November 2009 the defendants involved were the three senior executives Timothy S. Durham,
Chief Executive Officer, James F. Cochran, Chairman, and Rick D. Snow, Chief Financial Officer.
These executives defrauded their investors by raising approximately $230 million from at least
5,200 investors through the sale of investment certificates by making materially false and
misleading misrepresentations and omissions concerning, among other and returns, and the use of
investor proceeds to purchase discounted consumer receivables. (SEC litigation release 2012)
In 2002, two of the defendants Durham and Cochran acquired Fair finance company a successful
finance company that earned profits by using proceeds from investors to purchase discounted
consumer receivables. After the acquisition of Fair by the defendants, they changed the business
model by using a steadily increased amount of investor s proceeds to finance the unprofitable and
failing business controlled by the Durham and Cochran under the disguise of loans related party
transaction or advances, to make interest payment to investors for the benefits of themselves, their
families and friends. (SEC litigation release 2012)

The Theme Of Paralysis In Eveline
Most everyone wants to find someone to love; however, knowing for sure if someone you met is
the one is a constant question as well as whether to leave your past life behind. This is the crisis
in the story Eveline where Eveline Hill is unsure if she should run away with her new boyfriend or
stay at home. In this short story, James Joyce establishes the theme of paralysis through the
symbolism of Eveline s parents and diction to reveal her ambivalent feelings towards leaving home.
To begin, the theme of paralysis evolved in the story through the symbolism of her parents,
which is why she is unsure if she should leave with Frank and her uncertainty of her own
motives for leaving. Eveline s parents had a contentious relationship which causes her to
question whether her relationship with Frank may end out the same. In Joyce s Eveline, he
writes, She would not be treated as her mother had been. Even now, though she was over
nineteen, she sometimes felt herself in danger of her father s violence... Her father was becoming
old lately, she noticed; he would miss her (pg. 21 22). Throughout the story, Eveline thinks about
how her parents relationship may translate into her own life. She is worried that leaving her
father behind may devastate him when she seems to be scared of him still. She is stuck between
leaving and staying displaying the theme of paralysis. According to the critic Golbarg Khorsand s

  • 2. The Romans Were Influential People Essay Learning Activity 2 The Romans were influential people. They were once, the power head of the world. Their value system included the belief in eclecticism, practicality, and imperialism. This evidence that the Romans made their worldview known throughout the world, including these three key values. First, Merriam Webster dictionary, defines eclectic as selecting what appears to be best in various doctrines, methods, or styles. It also composed of elements drawn from various sources; also heterogenous. This is a good definition to the Romans. They sought out what was best in all areas of life. The Romans were eclectic in Philosophy, in their art, and their methods of living life. Which also defines the meaning of eclecticism. Eclecticism is also known to be the first recorded to have been practiced by a group of ancient Greek and Roman philosophers who attached themselves to no real system but selected from existing philosophical beliefs those doctrines that seemed most reasonable to them. Out of this collected material they constructed their new system of philosophy. The term comes from the Greek бјђОєО»ОµОєП„О№ОєПЊП‚ (eklektikos), literally choosing the best, and that from бјђОєО»ОµОєП„ПЊП‚ (eklektos), picked out, select.Well known eclectics in Greek philosophy were the Stoics Panaetius and Posidonius, and the New Academics Carneades and Philo of Larissa. Among the Romans, Cicero was thoroughly eclectic, as he united the Peripatetic, Stoic, and New Academic doctrines. Learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The World A More Eco Friendly Environment The society we live in today, has made efforts to make the world a more eco friendly environment. For the most part, different industries have made a push to better the ecosystem. The oil industry developed a clean fuel refinery, a design to eliminate or minimize solid waste. The automotive industry has promoted cars that are fueled by power instead of gas, to decrease pollution, and the manufacturing industry has gone green by developing new equipment that uses less energy. It is almost as if going green has become trendy . Our society made it clear to corporate America that living in a more environmentally sound world was important to them. In 2014 it was noted that an estimated 17 to 20% of water contamination came from areas of the fashion industry, and that the fashion industry, is the 2nd most polluting industry in the world. Who would have thought that the clothes we wear had such a colossal impact on the environmentthat surrounds us? However, just like the oil, automotive and manufacturing industry, the apparel industry is continuing to make progress in creating greener fashion. Social responsibilityis the concept that drives industry s steps towards a healthier environment. It is the ethical frame work that proposes that an organization needs to be accountable for any action that affects society at large. It is the responsibility that individuals have to preserve the balance between an ecosystem and the economy. On the contrary, the fashion industry has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Unit 1 Golf Research Paper Hole In One Golf is one of the most fun sports in the world, but it is also a game that requires a lot of patience. There is almost a golf course in every town so it is not hard to find a place to play. You might say but it s to hard but with these simple tips you can be the king of the course. What Is Golf? Golf is a sport in which a player uses clubs to get a ball into a hole usually a great distance away. There are not many rules in golf except you can not touch the ball with your hands, unless you hit it out of bounds and are moving it into play. The only other time you can touch a ball is if you put a marker down on the ground to show where the ball was that you just picked up. What Are the Different Clubs? When looking... Don t be confused though if one day a friend can golf it is a sport that you can play against yourself you can just see how low of a score you get by yourself then brag to you friends or family members. There is also people that say that golf should not be played with carts and prefer to walk the course, in my opinion, it doesn t really matter, whether you walk the course or use a golf cart as it doesn t really change the game that much. Best Courses Pine Valley golf course in New Jersey is famous for being one of the most difficult golf courses in the world. With a mixture of beautiful scenery and difficulty. Cypress Point, this course is both difficult and maybe the most beautiful course. Located in pebble beach. This course has water surrounding almost every hole. Golf Balls You might be wondering is the ball really that important to the game. Well yes and no is it helpful to have a better ball yes it allows for more control and longer shots. The one thing you have to remember is a ball can t really make your game better or worse only very good golfers can tell the difference in the balls. So for right now I would say get a medium of the range ball not to expensive but not super cheap. A good middle of the line golf ball is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The American Form Of Music Country music is constantly changing, an example of this is how women are now viewed in country music. The American form of music became popular in the 1920 s, and continued to grow, artists of this era include the Carter Family, Jimmie Rodgers, and Vernon Dalhart. One of country s most well known female singers is Dolly Parton, becoming a major country star in the 1970 s. Dolly was one of the first female artists to challenge the gender stereotypes in country music, this major success led to her long career. She has contributed over 35 hits to country and popular music, including her album Coat of Colors released in 1971, by RCA records was the album that changed her career. The 8th solo album made it onto Time Magazine s 100 Greatest... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, I choose the album Coat of Many Colors because of my strong love for country music. Dolly Parton is a well known household name, and in my house is a name that is cherished. I personally believe that the 1970 s was one of country s finest years, where the era produced many top hits. An example of one of these top hits is Parton s Coat of Many Colors. The album also invoked my interest is learning about the ways that Parton changed country music. It is inspiring to hear about a strong female figure making her own career in a patriarchal society. This invoked my interest in the album, learning about the effects that this album had. Overall, I feel as this album personally spoke to me and intrigued me. The dynamics of the Coats of Many Colors helped to popularize it and establish and portray Parton s musical abilities. The album includes 14 different tracks spanning a total of less than 30 minutes. The album contains a variety of different music styles and instruments. It is said that the album has ties to the old time country and folk music. Yancey Strickler writes that it dabbles in bluegrass and roots music, features triumphant, Memphis style R B, and winks at the majesty of pure pop, all in a tidy 27 minutes (Strickler). Instruments that were used in the tracks were guitar, steel guitar, bass, piano, drums, banjo, fiddle, and it incorporated the use of background vocals. • 6. Carpe Diem Analysis Aaron Jeu Ms. Wagner English 1B 22 June 2017 Rough Draft: Life and Death Carpe Diem is a Latin phrase, which often tends to denote a significant literary theme found in popular culture, including Peter Weir s Dead Poets Society or Green Day s song, Carpe Diem. However, it is also especially common in lyrical poetry. According to Oxford Dictionary, it is used [as encouragement] to make the most of the present life while it lasts or live for the moment. Both Dylan Thomas s Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night and Robert Frost s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening explore the notion that individuals should endeavor life to its fullest. In his poem, Thomas expresses a very passionate, pleading voice to deeply allure his audience. In contrast, Frost communicates his approach in a more pensive, practical, subtle style that slyly provokes the audience to think about their own fate. The collective theme of the two poems is similar in that both explain that death is imminent, that individuals should not take for granted the time they have left on Earth, and that people need courage to face death, and to realize that death can wait. However, Thomas utilizes an ardent, compelling tone to assert his beliefs that individuals should partake in a more dynamic role and embrace what will happen to them during their lives. On the contrary, Frost believes that every human has a timely death and that people should strive to fulfill their commissions before giving in to death. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the prisoners have been locked up away for most of their lives they really have know understanding what these shadows are. The shadows represent a worldthat only the prisoners know, its really the only world or way they have known. These shadows are never fully understood by the prisoners until one of the prisoners is set free. When the prisoneris freed from his imprisonment he is then shocked by what he witnesses. • 8. The Positive Causes Of The American Revolution Amid growing tension between England and her American Colonists, the British passed the Intolerable Acts, a law that created a punitive tax for the destruction of Tea in the Boston Harbor. Though the British saw the Intolerable Acts as a compromise in dealing with the vandalism, the American colonists were enraged. Their anger led to the creation of the First Continental Congress and paved the path for the conflict of the American Revolution. The American Revolution lasted from 1754 to 1788 with the commission of the intolerable acts occurring in the midst of this during 1774. Great Britain taxed the colonists after the French and Indian war. This battle marked the beginning of the Revolution. Colonists had been controlling their own government for years when the British saw fit to tax the 13 colonies. The intolerable acts only served to fuel the colonist s anger and ultimately ended in the independence of those colonies. Though the effects may have been negative for the British, the positive outcome for the Americans marked the beginning of The United States history. There was a series of events leading up to the intolerable acts that all added to the ire of the colonists. With a fitting name, the coercive acts were a ploy by the British to gain back control of the colonies. The Boston Port Act served to close the trade in the city and shut down all commerce there. The film was produced in the United Stated and released on December 15, 1995 in the United Kingdom and United States. The film s main plot is evolved around the power of sexual jealousy and how it can make people to act on their emotions instead of their rational mind. The film was directed by Oliver Parker, and he made many changes from the original play to make the 21st century audiences easier to understand the power of sexual jealousy. Parker hired famous actors to cast the four major characters in the film such as Laurence Fishburne (Othello), Irene Jacob (Desdemona), Kenneth Branaugh (Iago), and Nathaniel Parker (Cassio).I believe Oliver Parker s choice of adding additional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Iago was practicing some military drills with Othello, which foreshadows that in the future they will fight. In my opinion, Kenneth Branaugh (Iago) was the best actor in that movie. He was able to show his cunningness through his tone of voice and sneaky posture. His representation of Iago demonstrated the evilness within the character of Iago. I believe Kenneth Branaugh portrayed Iago better than any other actors that I have ever seen. I am very glad that the movie modified the scene, when Iago tried to persuade Othello to kill Cassio and Desdemona. In the original play, Othello turned from a calm mood to a very hatred mood to Desdemona and Cassio in five minutes, which is not realistic. However, the movie changed the time frame that it takes two days for Othello to change the mood instead of just five minutes. At the end of the movie where Othello stabs Iago after he realizes that Iago was lying the whole time. Othello was unarmed at this point until Cassio gives Othello a dagger to stab Iago. Since it s a practice assignment, students get a view of what they ll be learning. Practice assignments do improve scores on class tests at all grade levels (Cooper). Students can fully understand their new lesson when provided with homework. Everyone knows that by practicing something, they can get better at it. This is the same idea with homework, students practice, and eventually get pleasing grades. Although all grade levels can benefit from homework, it is really beneficial to high schoolers. If a country like the U.S were to decrease the amount of homework assigned to high school students, test scores would likely decrease unless additional supports were added (O, Furniture). Unlike other countries, homework is a major part to lead to success. This proves that students, especially high school ones, need homework to achieve the desirable scores they want. Homework is also a great way to study for a test. Beyond achievement, proponents of homework...claim it can help students develop good study habits so they are ready to grow as their cognitive capacities mature (Cooper). Essay On Public Speaking Anxiety Public speaking anxiety There are many ways to help control public speaking anxiety, and it seems that just about everybody has some methods that help them feel confident while presenting. Some people pray beforehand or take deep breaths to get their nerves under control. Some people even visualize the audience in their underwear. Some tactics that work for me are to find some people in the audience that I know so that it feels like I m only talking to them and not a large group of people or to just dress in something that makes me feel confident. Of course, everybody knows that no matter what you do being fully prepared and rehearsed for your speech is going to make you more confident in delivering the speech and make it sound better to the audience. Throughout the years ,I ve experienced various times when I ve had to speak in front of others and sometime the results were better than others. One of the first times, I can remember speaking in front of my class was in sixth grade for a project about different counties in Arkansas. I was assigned a small county I had never even heard of before but after a little research I found out some interesting facts about the county that fascinated me. This caused me to be very involved and proud of my work. When it came time to present my speech I was very prepared and excited to share what I had found out. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The term corporate social responsibility came into common use in the late 1960s and early 1970s after many multinational corporations formed the term stakeholder, meaning those on whom an organization s activities have an impact. It was used to describe corporate owners beyond shareholders as a result of an influential book by R. Edward Freeman, Strategic management: a stakeholder approach in 1984.[2] Proponents argue that corporations make more long term profits by operating with a perspective, while critics argue that CSR distracts from the economic role of businesses. Others argue CSR is merely window dressing, or an attempt to pre empt the role of governments as a watchdog over powerful multinational corporations. CSR is titled to aid an organization s mission as well as a guide to what the company stands for and will uphold to its consumers. Development business ethics is one of the forms of applied ethics that examines ethical principles and moral or ethical problems that can arise in a business environment. In this paper, Nyerere s views on education are examined with a view to determine the extent of their relevance to contemporary theory of education in Kenya. This analysis is concerned with 3 aspects. First, an exploration of possible theoretical contexts of his views on education is undertaken with a view to obtaining a basis for an intelligible discussion. Second, an examination of education for self reliance is undertaken. This is followed by an analysis of education for liberation as espoused by Nyerere. This is followed by a delineation of salient views that can enrich contemporary education in Kenya. Theoretical framework The liberal theory Liberalism envisions the ideal society to be one that embraces a wide range of individual liberties. These include, personal dignity, free expression, religious tolerance, right to own property, freedom of association, transparency of government, limitations on government power, the rule of law, equality, free market economy and free trade (Wikipedia,http://en.wikipedia.org/Liberalisms). In addition, there has also been a huge investment spurt in low cost automation and re engineering of production lines, aiming to reduce labor costs and increase the quality consistently. Modern Femininity And Gender Roles Though Hannah HГ¶ch may be a jack of all trades in the art realm having dabbled in painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles, pattern making, and photography she certainly is a master of collage. A German artist of the 20th century, HГ¶ch is primarily known for her turbulent romantic relationship with Czech artist Raoul Hausmann, one of the founders of the Berlin Dadamovement. Hausmann credited himself and HГ¶ch as the inventors of photomontage. HГ¶ch uses her collages to comment and critique the unstable sociopolitical state in Germany at the time. Her collages also highlight the growth of mass media and new technology. Perhaps most importantly, HГ¶ch challenges the concept of modern femininity and gender roles through her work. As the only female Berlin Dada artist, Hannah HГ¶ch takes a unique and important perspective on the social and political changes occurring in 20th century Germany. HГ¶ch was born in 1889 in Gotha, Germany. She moved to Berlin in 1912 to study calligraphy, embroidery, wallpaper design, and graphic art (National Museum of Women in the Arts). In 1915, she met Raoul Hausmann, with whom she had a seven year relationship. From 1916 to 1926, she worked in the handicrafts department of a magazine and newspaper publishing company. Bordone is clearly influence by one of these paintings while painting his work. It is said that the painting by Bordone is indebted to a similar depiction of the same subject by Tintoretto (Ilchman, Christ Disputing in the Temple, in Eye of the Beholder). When we look at Tintoretto s version of the painting, we can see clear similarities between both his and Bordone s. The immediate similarities being the use of light, as well as how Bordone chooses to shift the painting to capture the most interesting moments in the story, rather than show just one snippet of the action presented in the written work. This is due to the fact that both him and Tintoretto are Venetian painters, and both were assistants to Titian, another very famous Venetian artist (Ilchman). While the perspective offered in Tintoretto s painting is not naturalistic, and the scale of the many figures is rather skewed, we can still see the influence he had on Bordone. In Tintoretto s painting it shows the same dramatic scene that Bordone paints. The figures are all in movement, looking at books, debating with either Christ, or themselves. Which is essentially what Bordone s painting is demonstrating as well. Tintoretto also depicts Christ on a throne surrounded by the doctors, which mirrors Bordone s. The only difference from Tintoretto s, is that there are less people, and Christ is not in the exact center in Bordone s painting. The telegraph, gramophone, radio transmission, and moving images such as television are some of the earliest forms of mass communication that became entangled with various capitalist government regulations and an interpersonal mass audience. In the 1980 s a second mediarevolution began to emerge with the technological advancements of digital convergence which is the ability to access a range of multimedia content across a number media platforms with a number of devices. This essay will discuss whether due to these advancements, is it time the idea of mass communication needs to be re evaluated, and with the increasing using of multifunctional communication tools, whether or not the mass communication era has ended. Mass communication may be interpreted differently to a number of people. Many relate the method to the shear number of people engaging in the type of communication, the mass of the people or size of the audience. However others may focus of the second part of the word, communication and think of mass communication in the traditional sense that it was based of the idea of exchange (Chafee Metzger, 2001, pp. 355 356). We had one basic procedure; observe what happens when you add hydrogen peroxide to beef liver. At first we were just amazed by the bubbling product, we did not realize that a chemical reaction was going on. We had to redo the experiment so we could note that heat was being released as well as a combination of harmless gasses. We timed the reaction and learned to estimate the reaction rates by the time. We descovered that the bubbles were actually two main gasses, 2H2O and O2. They were being released due to the break down of a harmful gas H2O2. Another experiment we did was testing if catalasewas reusable. We discovered that it was, in fact, reusable. The basics of a normal catalase reaction is what we learned about part A. • 22. Harmony Theory In Phaedo By Plato In Phaedo, by Plato, Phaedo recounts an incident with Socrates. The story starts with Socrates opening up saying that Philosophers should not only accept death, but welcome it. After all, although the body will pass, the soul is able to live on because it is immortal. He uses a lot of his intuition to back up his claim, but the main rationale is the Argument of Affinity. He claims that the world is very binary. Things are either incorporeal and invisible, or not. The body is physical, visible and corporeal. Things like the body that are visible are part of the sensible world and do not last. The soulhowever is not. It is invisible and incorporeal. That is why Socrates believes the soul is immortal. Harmony doesn t survive the lyre, but rather is dependent upon the lyre. The lyre is similar to the human body and soul. Harmony is divine and incorporeal. However, the human body is much like the lyre in that it is both corporeal and visible. Because the lyre is held together in the proper way and at the right degrees, it is able to exist just as the soul does only through the appropriate ways and make up of the human body. This leads to the point that just because things are invisible and incorporeal does not necessarily mean they are immortal. We need to think of the soul as a different type of harmony. Socrates objects Simmias claims and refutes Harmony Theory many ways, but the one I find most notable is that Socrates believes that the soul is the master of the human body and directs and controls the body. Since the soul is eternal and the body is not, the soul controls the body throughout the entirety of its life. Socrates comments, further, of all parts of a man, can you mention any other part that rules him than his soul, especially if it is a wise soul? (Plato 132). Because it has this power, it tells the body what to do, where to move, and how to act. This is different than the harmony and the lyre. For example, on the other hand, we previously agreed that if the soul were a harmony, it would never be out of tune with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Paganism And Christianity In Beowulf The significance of Paganism and Christianity are both present in Beowulf. Beowulf was written between the 8th and 10th century s, when the Anglo Saxon society was beginning to change from Paganism to Christianity. Many believe that this is essentially a pagan work since the Christian faith hadn t fully arrived in the Anglo Saxon society. However, according to Douglas Wilson, The poet could easily have known individual Christian Anglo Saxons who had converted from paganism (page.31); this showing how the author would have been able to retrieve information about the customs and morals of Christianity. Christianity is a religion based upon monotheistic beliefs, belief in one personal and transcendent God and based through Jesus s teachings. This religion teaches that God has a path for everyone, that people may choose to follow and live by him. The epic poem through the years, has been based upon Christianity but still contains a good deal of Pagan elements. Paganism is a religion founded before Christianity, having no belief in a personal god and based more on the concept of fate, that people do not have control over their life. In Beowulf, God is praised for all of his works by Beowulf himself, and the other characters. While also believing that fate controlled the character s lives. At age 18 an American has the ability to vote, be drafted or enlist into the military, own a weapon, request a loan, get married, buy cigarettes and many more liberties and consequences that come when a teenager becomes an adult. Nonetheless, in the United States and adult does not have the ability to legally drink until the age of 21. However, I believe that the alcohol regulation is bias and should be at the same level of liberty as voting, joining the military, owning a weapon, buying cigarettes, requesting a loan and getting married. My opposition to the alcohol restriction until age 21 is based in that the liberty and restriction of an adult should be the same for all ages. If an adult has the capacity to vote and decide what is best for the future of the country at age 18, the ability to drink should be granted as well. Indeed, after Harriet Smithson initially rejected Berlioz, he was distraught. While the main character, the Underground Man, did not consider himself a slave to the falsity, he observed it in others he came into contact with. A good example of this is when the Underground Man went to dinner with his friends (they were hardly so). At this dinner, he mentions how the individuals are good looking on the outside but rather unintelligent on the inside. At one point, he even says that one of them has a handsome but silly face (Dostoevsky), thus indicating that on the outside, his face was handsome but at the same time he was also silly , or foolish and shallow. They were not who the portrayed themselves to be.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her father was becoming old lately, she noticed; he would miss her (pg. 21 22). Throughout the story, Eveline thinks about how her parents relationship may translate into her own life. She is worried that leaving her father behind may devastate him when she seems to be scared of him still. She is stuck between leaving and staying displaying the theme of paralysis.
