This presentation tells about human centered thinking or design. To find out problem professionally or in daily life, to find out the solution of that particular problem and finally implementation of the solution all these will be done by humans.

What is human-centered design?
In this presentation, we have explained the concept of Human-centered design with the help of real-life examples.
By definition: Human-centered design is an approach to problem-solving, commonly used in design and management frameworks that develops solutions to problems by involving the human perspective in all steps of the problem-solving process
PPT FOR GTU STUDENT IN CPDP.
To Identify how people (contributors) have found solutions to challenges they have faced, and how
they practiced “Designing solutions”.
1.THE CONTRIBUTOR WORK IDEAL (CPDP) 3150004 GTUVATSAL PATEL
In this topic, students explore what is their “ideal” of work - is the ideal
to be a “worker” or to be a “contributor”? For example, an employee
who has the ideal of a “worker” goes to work to pass time, earn a
living, get benefits; in contrast to an employee with the ideal of a
“contributor” who wants to make a difference, get things done well,
create value for the company. This enables students to transform their
expectation of themselves in work
here, some questions are there with possible solutions, we will try to find out the best solution based on humanity, ethics, positive thinking and immediate action as per the situation
In this topic, students engage with the question “who am I?” or on what basis do they define themselves. Is their identity defined by what others think of them (extrinsic self-esteem) or by what they think of themselves (intrinsic self-esteem)? Further, they discover positive identities that lead to intrinsic self-esteem, such as an I-can identity based on one’s capacity and inner strength. This enables them to build confidence and self-esteem.
An introduction to human-centered design including characteristics of HCD, industry terminology, and methodology. Includes case study, criticisms, and an evaluation of human-centered design. Created for non-UX professionals for an in-office workshop.
If you were wondering what exactly human-centered design is, we’ve got answers with some real-world examples for you.
Human-centered design comes under the design thinking methodology, where products and apps are built by focusing on the perspective of those who experience the problem.
This helps achieve the sweet spot of desirability, accessibility and usability while addressing the core needs of the people. If you look at successful innovations, you must have noticed some element of human-centered design in them.
Here are some of the innovations that were designed using the human-centered approach.
The lecture slides talks about the importance of analysing the worth of problems before we on to solve them. And how to identify the problems worth solving.

Observation: The Key to a Great User ExperienceTechWell
Observation is an important research technique when we are designing solutions to delight users. Some kinds of information that may make the difference between an acceptable solution and a delightful one can only be obtained by observing users in their native environment. Observing users is much more than simply sitting and watching them work. We observe with a purpose in mind and use all our senses—not just sight—when doing an observation. Geri Winters describes several different observation techniques including observing the environment, silent observation of someone performing a task, cognitive walkthrough with a user, and observing while doing. After explaining when and why you might use each technique, she leads you through a series of exercises designed to practice the techniques. Geri uses stories from real projects to illustrate the importance of observation in the user’s native environment and provides references to resources for further study.
Delivering on-demand knowledge to your workforce is essential to aid their productivity.
In this presentation we explore how modern technology is altering how people think and what we as instructional designers can do to engage learners.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. Human centered design
• In simple terms, it is the
approach for designing
solutions for human problems
3. Human centered design
• Human-centered design is an approach to
problem solving
• Involves the human perspective in all steps of the
problem-solving process.
• Design thinking is a process, mindset, and
approach to solving complex problems.
• Human involvement takes place in
1. observing the problem
2. Brainstorming
3. Conceptualizing
4. Developing
5. implementing the solution
4. EXAMPLES
• Some examples will make clear the concept of
human centered thinking/design
Steps to follow -
1. finding the problem
2. Thinking on that problem to get solution
3. Getting solution
4. Implementation of solution
6. What is the problem here?
• Whenever we go any office or mall, we face a
common problem when we come infront of a
PUSH/PULL door. What to do?
• Both Push and Pull part of the door are fitted
with handles, this creates confusion in our
brain.
8. • The push part of the door doesn’t need a
handle.
• Door with handles only in the Pull side of the
door.
• Leave the push side with a plain pad.
• We all will push the door automatically if we
don’t see a handle. One can easily understood
to push the door.
10. What is the problem?
• Kids’ hands are small and its difficult for them
to hold the toothbrush.
• So small handled toothbrushes will not be a
good fit for kids small hands.
• And they need to be motivated to brush their
teeth daily.
12. What is the solution?
• Make the handles fat.
• So that the kids can hold the toothbrush
easily.
• Adding rubber grips to the handle gives more
grip when brushing the teeth.
• To encourage kids to brush every day the
designers included comic characters on
toothbrush holder.
14. What is the problem?
• Too much of functionalities and complicated
design.
• The control buttons are too close and small
which creates issue in accessibility.
• Most people use portable music players when
they are outside(jogging, gym, gardening etc).
And it was difficult to hold it during activities.
16. • Design a compact design with easily accessible
control buttons.
• Add a clipper to the device so that people can
easily use it while engaging in other activities
18. What was the problem?
• Wastage is big problem. Difficulty in getting
full ketchup out of the bottle.
• People feel difficulty in handling and
squeezing the bottle with one hand.
• Its glass bottle, difficulty to handle/carry
because of heavy weight and care is needed
because it is brittle
20. • Plastic container so that it can be squeezed
• Design the bottle to have a hand grip and
holding space.
• And because of its inverted design, the user
will get the last drop from the bottle.
22. What was the problem?
• The main usage of TV remote is to change
channels and to increase or decrease the
volume.
• With the current design, senior citizens feel
difficulty in finding the exact buttons (Many &
small).
• And holding the remote straight to the TV on
every use is also makes the task more difficult
to complete.
24. • Designed frequently used buttons more visible
and bigger (channel and volume buttons).
• Introduced IR sensing for easy operation. a
slider cap to hide buttons that are not
frequently used and an additional voice search
button is added to the remote were
introduced.
26. What was the problem?
• Concealed bottles are hard to open.
• It needs an external bottle opener to open the
bottle cap.
• If opener is not available then very difficult to
open using spoon, teeth etc., these can lead
to injury
