This document outlines a proposed online game called "Caves of Cola" to promote the Coca-Cola brand. The game would be a web-based adventure game where players control an explorer character who collects Coca-Cola cans in caves while avoiding obstacles. It is targeted towards teenage male gamers and would be released in English-speaking countries. The goal is to advertise Coca-Cola in a fun, engaging way without using any offensive or inappropriate content that could violate advertising standards or copyright law.
1. Working Title: Cola Adv-Game
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
The game will be called; “Caves of Cola” as the player plays an explorer searching for coke in
some caves.
Target Platform: Gamers
What media platform/platforms would you release the product on?
This would be distributed to the internet likely using software such as flash to make the game run.
Genre: Adv-Game
What sort of a media product is it?
The product is an adv-game to promote the brand coca-cola.
Language / Territories English
What countries would you release it in? Would it be suitable worldwide or is it targeted at a specific
population? Is it unsuitable for any cultures or beliefs?
Though this game doesn’t really rely on text to play, with the very little example of text used being
“Start” and “Game” over the game is still technically in “English” which means the distribution of the
game will only be set to countries that use the English language.
Synopsis / Treatment / Story / How the game plays: we talk about what drinking coke feels
like and that it can be shared with everyone to have good times and at the end just say taste
the feeling and put sounds of pouring coke on a glass and a can opening.
What is your product about? Discuss how it works to communicate a message to the audience?
What is the main message?
In the game the player will play an explorer who collects cola cans (which will fall down from
the ceiling.) The goal of the game is to collect as many cans as possible without dying (to
falling stalagmites.) They will be given three life’s (red by using a heart counter) and when
the third is up its game over.
One Line SalesPitch: taste the feeling
Sum up your product in one sentence
This product will be advertising told in a massively fun way.
Style (similar products and graphical style): Pepsi because it taste the same as coke
What product is yours similar to? Why have you used it for inspiration?
Discuss this in relation to conventions and art style
There are and have been many colas over time, Pepsi is currently one strong competing
brand with Coca-Cola. However it’s not the only brand as there are examplesof home brand
colas (but these don’t compete very far in comparison to Pepsi…)
Audience: it can be heard by all kind of ages because it does not involves any offensive
material
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
Why would your product appeal to this person?
My main audience are likely to be teenage malesof about the same age as me. This is
because I can identify what I’d like, thus I can base my physiographic on myself. Also in the
game it’s stereotypically less girly and more moody which would easily fit the graphic.
2. Legal & Ethical Considerations:
Think about any offensive material you will include?
It does not have any offensive material
Will you restrict younger audiences engaging with it?
No
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
No
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
Make it safe and follow the ASA rules
Is your product using characters/names/logos of existing ones?
We are using the coca cola logo brand
Will your product be sufficiently different from existing ones to not get sued for copyright (no
because we only use coca cola ) infringement and how have you achieved this?
I will achieve this by only sticking to the brand Coca-Cola; avoid stealing graphics from others as
well as rough parodies of any other games.
