products have?
Common features that I have found in my research is that
they try to be mysterious and try to look powerful and
try to show off their wealth
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
Some aspects that I will include in my work will be the
special effects to include in my music video such as the
line effects and many others and I will also create my
album cover so that it’s simple

• Observation: 100% of people that did my survey are aged between 15-25
• What this says about my audience: This says that my audience as young as
they are in there teenage years and early 20’s
• How will your product appeal to this audience: My product will appeal to
my audience as these ages are my target audience that will view my music
video

male
• What this says about my audience: This says more males are more likely to view my
music video

this audience as it’s a hip-hop music video so therefore more males are

• What this says about my audience: This says that the majority of my audience are hi-
hop fans and as it’s a hip-hop music video this who I want to be targeting

my audience as if 70% like hip-hop music I’m filming a hip-hop music video
so as they like the music they are likely to check out the vdeo

• What this says about my audience: This says that some of my audience enjoy a
narrative where ever some don’t

audience as they like hip-hop so are likely to check out the music video whether it has a narrative
or not how ever I’m not going to include a narrative in my video because in most hip-hop videos
that I watch they don’t include a narrative

Q) What Makes A Good Hip-Hop Music Video?
A) I think that good visuals make a good music video as it has to be fun to
watch and not boring because if you bore the audience then it isn’t a good
video
Q) Do you think its important to have a narrative?
A) I believe it depends on the song, if the song is a emotional song with a
deep meaning then I think that the music video will be better with a
narrative as it will help the audience understand the song more
compared to if its just a vibe, chilled, fun song then I don’t think it
necessary needs a narrative
Q) What Is your favourite effect to see in music videos
A) My favourite effect is the line effect that can be seen in Cole Bennett’s
work

• Observation: From interview 1: The observation that I
found out for interview one is that my audience don’t want to
watch a boring video and don’t think it needs a narrative
• What this says about my audience: This says that
my audience aren’t interested in a music video with a
meaningful narrative and would just rather see cool visuals
• How will your product appeal to this
audience: This will appeal to my audience because the
questions that I asked were strictly hip-hop based and my
audience are hip-hop fans

Q) What Makes A Good Hip-Hop Music Video?
A) I think good editing makes a good music video such as adding in special
effects and just trying to keep the audience interested especially within
in the first couple of seconds of the video as if the video is boring at the
start of the video then they either wont watch until the end of the video
or they won’t be as focused on the video as what they were to begin with
Q) Do you think its important to have a narrative?
A) No I don’t think its important to have a narrative because I think the
audience re more interested in the song and just fun visuals for hip-hop
and not something that goes into to load of detail with a narrative
Q) What Is your favourite effect to see in music videos
A) My favourite effect would be the jitter effect that is often seen in Kendrick
Lamar’s videos

• Observation: From interview 2 I found out that good
editing makes a good music video
• What this says about my audience: This says that
my audience enjoy editing that looks good and include effects
to keep the audience interested in my video
• How will your product appeal to this
audience:
my product will appeal to my audience because when I edit my
music video I’m going to include some effects through out the
video that shall keep my audience interested

15-25 This will appeal to my audience as this is the age
group that listen to hip-hip music so as they like
music and are fans of the artist they’re likely to watch
the music video. I will also attract my target audience
by using effects that young people enjoy and will
entertain them

Male The majority of people that listen to hip-hop from my
survey are male so therefore this will appeal to them.
I will make my music video appeal to men as my song
will be rapping about women and relationships as
most hip-hop songs sing about this subject as its an
interest which is quite common to the genre and also
many people can relate to the music.
Psychographic
Emulator My audience appeal is Emulator as my video talks a
lot about girls as well as being successful having
power and also having a lot of money. I've made my
content appeal to my audience by using some
expensive branding in my music video such as yeezy
boosts 350 pirate black and also by using a c.p
company hat

Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the
strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
This helped to think of visual ideas and give me ideas on what I want to include when I
design my products I think I could of improved this by analysing more screenshots of videos
and explain them more
– Questionnaires
The questionnaire gave me a better understanding to peoples attitudes towards hip-hop
and understand my target audience better. I think I could of improved this research by
asking just hip-hop fans and not asking people that don’t know as much as other people
know about the genre
– Interviews
The interviews also helped my to understand peoples thoughts and attitudes
towards hip-hop and helped me think on how I can make my music video
appeal to my audience more and what I can include in my videos
Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
The responses I got from my survey were good as I was able
to use them and analyse the information and use this
information to understand my target audience better
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
When I distributed my survey I sent the link to my friends the
advantage of this is that I know that I'm going to get sensible
feedback that I can use and evaluate however the disadvantage
of this is that is that not all of people that I sent the link too
know as much about hip-hop as other people do.

I will make my music video appeal to men as my song will be rapping about women and relationships as most hip-hop songs sing about this subject as its an interest which is quite common to the genre and also many people can relate to the music. I've made my content appeal to my audience by using some expensive branding in my music video such as yeezy boosts 350 pirate black and also by using a c.p company hat

Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method – Product Research This helped to think of visual ideas and give me ideas on what I want to include when I design my products I think I could of improved this by analysing more screenshots of videos and explain them more – Questionnaires The questionnaire gave me a better understanding to peoples attitudes towards hip-hop and understand my target audience better. I think I could of improved this research by asking just hip-hop fans and not asking people that don’t know as much as other people know about the genre – Interviews The interviews also helped my to understand peoples thoughts and attitudes towards hip-hop and helped me think on how I can make my music video appeal to my audience more and what I can include in my videos

Give an advantage and a disadvantage When I distributed my survey I sent the link to my friends the advantage of this is that I know that I'm going to get sensible feedback that I can use and evaluate however the disadvantage of this is that is that not all of people that I sent the link too know as much about hip-hop as other people do.
