The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. Existing Product
The album is called
“Graduation” and in the
we can see a photo of a
school with people
graduating and this links
to the target audience as
his target audience are in
this age range and they
will or have already
experienced their
graduation.
This suggests that school is a monster and
the education system isn’t for everybody
especially not for creative individuals such
as Kanye
The denotation is the
mortar boards being
thrown in the
graduation ceremonies
and the connotation is
that they’re celebrating
this “monster”
The monster is spitting out this
“dropout” and suggesting he wont
be successful as he’s not graduating
with everyone else
The bear character
represents Kanye west
and he is bigger than
the other characters
in the cover which
shows his power and
his success.
Another way that Kanye’s
power and success is
shows is with his gold
chain as gold represents,
power, success and wealth
3. Existing Product
The album name “ISSA” is in
big bold font across the
middle of the page so that it
stands out to the audience
across the pink background
This is a close up shot of the
artist and this shows his facial
expressions and from his facial
expression we can tell that he’s
looking quite serious which gives
him an element of power and he
doesn’t look worried about other
people taking his “power” away
he also has the facial expression
of that he doesn’t care . In the
background you can see the hills
behind him in Los Angeles which
is another way success and
power is shown as to live in the
hills it costs a few million
Another way that power is shown is through the $100
dollar bills that we can see. This shows he is successful
and shows he also has power along with his success
Power is also shown through the
trees these trees are quite high
and the artist 21 Savage is the
same height of the tree if not
higher so therefore this shows his
power on how big he is and also
how “big” he is in the music
community
21 Savages red jacket could
suggest his passion for music
as well as it could suggest
his leadership. The red
jacket could also suggest
danger
Another way success is shown is
through the chain that the artist is
wearing and if you look carefully
you can see the chains say “21
Savage” which is the artists rap
name
As well as people buying his
album because they like his
music they will also buy his
album because in a way it feels
like they’re buying into this
luxurious, lavish, power and
flexing lifestyle

suggests that the
album is “Heat”
and “fire” so fans
will want to listen
to it because
One way that
they’re showing
successes is that he
is wearing Saint
Laurent sunglass
that go for $345
The album name is
quite a simple font
and it is in white so
that it stands out
against the black
background
Another way to shoe
success and power is by
including this expensive
sports car which
The famous land
mark suggests power

scheme of Pink,
black and blueClose up shot of Kanye West so we can

expression looks serious which could
suggest that he’s serious about his
rapping and his career and this also
makes him look powerful
Cover lines are
short, quick
and easy to
read
Header is in
black bold text

Some text is bigger than other
and in different colours so that
the most important parts stands
out and it catches the audiences
attention

This camera shot is also a
close up shot and from
these shots we can see their
facial expressions and this
adds a mysterious element
in because he is looking
away and possibly looking at
something else which makes
the audience want to find
out more about what's
happening
Straight away from looking at this
album cover we can identify that
it’s a hip hop album as he is
wearing “do rag” which use to be
very popular in the hip hop
culture back in 1990 to early
2000’s
His tattoo also suggests
the hip hop genre as
tattoos use to also be very
popular in the hip hop
culture and the tattoo says
the name of the album
which is “pain is love” and
tattoos slightly hurt and
cause pain when getting
them done
Power in this album cover is shown by the artist not
wearing a top as he has quite a masculine body and this
targets men because men will aspire to be like him and it
will target females as it’s a female gaze which will lead
them into buying his album

23. Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research.
Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
An advantage of product research is that you can see how previous products have
looked in the past and from this you can see what conventions they all include that
you could possible include in your own work
– Questionnaires
A advantage of questionnaires is that its easier to analyse the information as they
include quantitative question and however a disadvantage of these is that you don’t
get detailed responses as they're closed questions
– Interviews
advantages of interviews is that you can get more detailed answer as
they are open questions how ever a disadvantage would be that its
harder to analyse the results
24. Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
From my surveys I got results such as my main target audience are male and my
secondary target would be females because more males from listen to hip hop
than females according to my survey that I carried out. Another response I got is
that everybody that listens too hip hop are between 14-30 so there is a fairly big
age difference from people that listen to hip-hop music
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
I distributed my survey by sending people I know the link to my survey so that
they could fill it out for me. An advantage of this is that it is a really easy way
to distribute the survey as its all online however a disadvantage would be that
not everybody that I sent the link to answered the survey
