I like this product as the use of lighting and the effects they used to create this warm colour to set
the mood and aesthetic and to fit the song is very good in my opinion and is definitely something ill
try to incorporate into my own video. I also really like the use of different angles and range of shots
to give off this amazing cinematography look really fits the style of video and really gives it a
professional look and makes it very high quality. I also really like the use of editing techniques as
there not often very complicated but instead very effective as seen by using slow Mo a lot
throughout the video but at the end there is a very nice editing technique which is almost a dissolve
transition where one scene fades into another to create a very cool effect. This can be seen briefly in
the picture above. I feel the colours and the way the video and cinematography fit the music really
appeal this to a wide audience whilst been mostly skaters but also film makers. Going back to the
colour I like the use of the colourization and the use of saturation and brightness to give of this warm
effect which adds to the soothing ad slow music to give of this relaxing but interesting aesthetic

This product is an edit at the end of a film which in the context of the film was made by
the character fourth grade and is mostly a skate edit as the film itself is mainly about
skating and youth culture of the 90s. I really like this product as even though its for a
part in a film the clips still feel raw and really feel like they capture the skate culture and
youth culture in a natural way and gives you a good sense of the culture and what is was
like. I also really like the way it was shot with the old camera and the fish eye lens which
gives it the 90s skate edit aesthetic. Although there isn't much editing which is
something that I wont take inspiration from as I eel that my own product will come out
better with more editing and more complicated ones as well. The angles and types of
shots they us will be something ill also take inspiration from and also in some parts ill
also use raw clips to give it a natural feel but only in small segments as I don’t want it to
look messy.

everybody's everything
documentary trailer
• This is one of the best documentary trailers
I've seen and I think its something I can really
take inspiration from as it uses a lot of voice
overs which is something I really want to
implement into mine I also love the way its
filmed with some clips being professionally
filmed or filmed at high quality and clips that
where filmed my peep himself or his friends
which give it a natural and grounded feel. It
also shows clips of interviews throughout
which is something I am going to do in my
video. I also really like when the lettering on
the screen has video behind it and is
something I might look to use in my own video
I also like the contrast between the lighting as
in most of the clips it’s a dark tone with lots of
pinks and purples but on the interviews its very
light and raw colours to keep it looking high
quality.
5. Existing Product: I am
heath ledger
documentary
• I think this trailer is something that I will take a lot
of inspiration from as I love the way the interviews are
set up and how they have the names at the bottom
and how the audio carry's on when its showing clips
whilst also having quiet music playing to se the
atmosphere whilst also being able to hear the person
speak I think it’s a perfect balance I also thinks it’s a
perfect balance of high quality and hand help footage
which gives it a high production feel whilst also
sticking to the topic of the documentary and showing
some lower quality but more impactful footage to
really incise the viewer into watching something that
can make them feel they understand the person or
topic on a better level. I think the way the interviews
are filmed with the way they use different angles and
how the lighting really focuses on the person really
grips the viewer and makes them listen to what that
person is saying and because you can see all of the
persons movements and facial expressions it really
adds the emotional aspect which is perfect for this
topic of documentary whereas mine isn’t going to be
emotional but it will still help the viewer understand
the message more.
6. Research Analysis
What common features do the researched products
have? They're all videos which have elements in which I want to use in my own video
as some have interviews which is something I want to implement into my video whilst other
use different editing techniques to really mix the video and song together which gives it
more impact as it uses the beat to do a transition or a cut. And they all have a mix of high
and low quality footage to give it that balance of high production but also raw and
grounded feeling.
What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work? I want to include the way they do the
interviews and also the shot types and editing techniques such as also mo cutting
and also the different transitions. I also want to create the balance of high and
low quality footage to give it a unique but cool style which I feel adds something
to make the video stand out. I also want to use planned and unplanned shots as
well to give it a high production feel whilst also keeping to the raw low budget
aesthetic.
8. Audience research
• Observation: It is clear that people still really like music video and that still want them to be made
and are still appealing and can be used as good advertisement.
• What this says about my audience: is that they still appreciate a good music video and that if a
video is released they will watch it and it would still be successful and would be a good thing for an
artist to do and it also says that music videos still have an affect on youth culture as the youth still
want to see music videos been made.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I feel it will appeal to my audience as its shown they
like music videos and that they want them to be made and also Im incorporating a lot of youth
culture which they will be able to resonate with.
9. Audience research
• Observation: it shows that its pretty even between people who only watch for visuals and also people who
watch for a better understanding of the song.
• What this says about my audience: this shows that some people just like cool editing and cool effects
whereas some people actually watch to get a better understanding of the song so they can really feel the
message of the song and want to actually have a better interpretation of the artists message and what he
wanted to show in their song but also needed a video to further explain their message. This also means
that if I do either people will still watch it and if I try to incorporate both it will suit a wider audience.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I think it will appeal to the audience who like visual's more
but also to the meaning but not the meaning of the song as it wont be mine but with the documentary
style clips it will show my message through the film like music video which I feel will cater to that
audience.
10. Audience research
• Observation: the majority of people really like music videos and is definitely something they look
out for and want the artist to do and is something they find very important
• What this says about my audience: this tells me that they like music videos and watch a lot so by
using techniques and ideas from other videos but in my own way should make this appealing to
them and is something I think they will enjoy.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I think my product will appeal to them as even
though I will be using ideas from other videos I think because I want to put my own twist on it and
make it a bit different it will be something they really enjoy as it keeps that same feel but with
something new added.
11. Audience research
• Observation: the majority of people don’t feel that music videos influence them in terms of how
they dress or act and instead just like the videos for either the visuals or meaning behind them.
• What this says about my audience: that they are just interested in the video alone and that they
don’t watch the videos to change how they look or act and are soley there for the visuals and
meaning behind the video itself.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:I think it will appear as I wont push anything in their
face or tell them to dress or act and I think they will like it because it will have a nice aesthetic and
good visuals.
12. Audience research
• Observation: that the majority of people prefer rap videos but some people still like pop and
indie/rock videos.
• What this says about my audience: that it is mostly rap fans and that a rap video will cater to
a bigger audience and is probably the best option to go for as my main topic is youth culture
and as shown they mostly like rap videos.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:well my product will be to a rap song but wont
be a traditional rap video so I feel it can still cater to a wide audience that will appreciate the
video itself.
13. Audience research
• Observation: that narrative videos and performance videos are the most popular but people
do still like abstract videos as well.
• What this says about my audience: that no matter what I do there will still be an audience
that will like it but if I try to incorporate all of them even if its subtle it will be suitable for a
wider target audience.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I feel it will mainly appeal to the narrative and
performance fans but I feel people who enjoy abstract videos will still like my video as it will
have some abstract elements.
14. Audience research
• Observation: that the majority of fans still believe music videos hold importance in the music
industry and that they should still be made.
• What this says about my audience: that they enjoy music videos and will watch a video that
on of their favourite artists makes and that there is an audience out there that will enjoy and
value my video.
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I feel my video whilst not being a traditional
music video it will still appeal to them as it will have a meaning that they can relate to and
good visuals that will fit the beat of the song and be interesting to watch.
15. Audience research
• Observation: this shows that this is not something people may think about when watching a
video and are just watching for the video itself.
• What this says about my audience: that they don’t look to far into the video ad don’t count
on the video to add anything new to the song but instead just to see a visualization and to
listen to the song
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I think it will appeal to them as with my
project being a music video/ documentary trailer its more focused on the video so its
something they can just watch and enjoy.
