The feedback from the audience indicated that the target audience for the music video was male aged 17-24. Most respondents identified the genre as punk-pop and felt the music video portrayed the genre conventionally. All respondents thought the music video could air on television music channels like Kerrang. The narrative, editing, location, and adherence to genre conventions were highlighted as strengths in the feedback. The creator found the audience feedback important to evaluate their work and identify areas for potential improvement.

2. Target Audience
• From my audience feedback I have learned that the
majority of people ask feel that my target audience is
Male. I have learned that the majority of people
believe that the age range for my music video is 17-24
years of age. The participants of the questionnaire felt
that the target audience of my music video was male
due to the fact that the majority of performers in my
music video were male. The song choice has also been
said to be more directed at the male audience and
the4 narrative is easier to follow from a male
perspective. The location of the band performance also
hints towards my target audience being male due to
the fact that it is shot in a garage.
3. What genre of music do you listen to?
• The majority of people asked said that the
genre they prefer to listen to is Punk-pop. In
joint second place was Rock and Pop, both
with 66.7%. This tells me that the genre of my
music video is more popular within those who
I asked. Therefore, my music video should be
received well and should please the majority
of people.
4. What genre do you think my music
video is?
• 33.3% of the audience feedback said they
thought my genre of music video was Rock.
This tells me that 33.3% of the people I asked
this question to were unfamiliar with the Pop-
Punk genre and were more familiar with the
Rock genre. They were unable to recognise
that my music video cam from a specific genre
rather than a general one. However, 66.7%
believed that it is Punk-pop.
5. Do you think my music video could be
shown on TV? If so, what channels?
• 100% of the people asked said they believed that
my music video could be shown on TV and
believed it would be shown on Kerrang. This tells
me that my music video was effective in
portraying the messages and ideologies of the
pop-punk genre. It also tells me that music video
is popular and satisfied those who watched it.
Furthermore, I can gather from this question that
people would be willing to watch my music video
if they were to see it being played on the
television.
6. Was my music video conventional of
the genre?
• 100% of the people I asked said they thought that my
music video was conventional of the Punk-pop genre.
This means I have achieved my goal to create a music
video which fits into the pop-punk genre. I have
satisfied those who listen to pop-punk as I have given
them what they would expect from a pop-punk music
video. I haven’t challenged any of the generic
conventions of the genre and this has pleased people
as they knew the genre of the vide whilst they were
watching it. Through choosing to not challenge the
generic conventions I have kept my target audience
happy as I have not confused them.
7. What was good about my music
video?
• The responses I got from this question told me that the people who took
the survey enjoyed watching my music video because of the narrative
which I included in it. Those who participated in my questionnaire told me
that they liked my editing as it was effective and fit into the genre. They
also made comment on my narrative, saying that it was also very
conventional and also had a piece of humour added to it. They said that
they enjoyed this as they were able to relate to the narrative and that it
kept them interested at all times. People also said how they liked the
choice of location for my band performance as they felt that this was very
typical of the pop-punk genre and this is what they expected to find.
People said that they weren’t confused of the genre because of the mise-
en-scene, the costume, the props used and the narrative. Overall, those
who viewed my music video were impressed because I have used generic
conventions of the pop-punk genre and had given them exactly what they
had expected to find. The narrative was interesting and didn’t bore them
and the use of location interested them as it was reminiscent of the
original pop-punk scene of the 1990’s.
8. Why is the feedback important?
• My audience feedback is extremely important to me as it
tells me whether or not I have achieved to create a music
video which fits in with the pop-punk genre. The feedback
has also made me aware of any mistakes which I may have
made whilst creating my music video. I have taken the
criticism of the feedback positively and it has made me
think of how I can make changes to my work in order to
improve it. This is another reason why my feedback is
important. Not only doe it make me aware of any mistakes
that I have made but it also gives me the opinion of others
and therefore makes me re-think and look over my work.
Everything that my participants have said to me about my
work has made me re-evaluate my coursework and made
me think about making certain changes to it.
