At the start of this Barber promotional video it starts
off with a drone shot of the city with the logo in the
middle of the page and the shop name at the top of
the logo. The camera continues to go forward of the
city whilst the logo slowly fades away and then the
logo isn't on the screen and the camera continues
moving still.
The camera then quickly zooms into this car and we can
see the car has a sticker with the barber shop logo on the
back window. This would be effective as it is good
branding as when the consumer keeps seeing this logo
they will be reminded of the barber shop. The next shot
we see is the barber at his shop walking to his sign and
then plugs it in. The next shot then goes outside the shop
and we see the shop and right before the beat drops on
the song we see the barber sign flash saying the shop I
open
Next we see someone step out of the car as soon as the beat drops. The
guy that is getting out the car is dressed well and I would say his style of
clothing fits in the streetwear category. After the guy gets out the car
the switches to the barber stood outside meeting the customer. This
transition in the video is very quick and is on the screen for about a split
second however this works really well with the beat. The shot after this
we see is the customer and the barber both walking into the shop
together however the camera here is mainly focused on the sign which
has the name of the business as well as the phone number which is
going to be essential for the video as then the audience know what the
business is called and how they can contact the business
Then we see a close up shot of the barbers shop doors and the doors have the
logo on again whilst the guy opening the door has the logo on the back of his
jacket. Then we see some clips of products / items in the barber shop such as the
equipment that they use etc. We also see this one shot where the desk is and
again on the desk we can see it has the logo on it and we can also see the mirror
which has a massive logo on it. This is another way that is used to get the logo
stuck into the consumers head so that they will then recognise the brand. The
next shot after this is filmed through the window and we see the barber fist
bumping all the other barbers which suggests to the customer that they're all
friendly and it shows the chilled out atmosphere of the shop
Existing ProductWe then see a medium long shot of a customer walking
into the barber shop. And then they have used a medium
shot of the two customers sat together talking whilst one
customer is getting his hair cut. When we see the
customers talking and everyone being all chilled out this
shows us that the atmosphere at the shop is very friendly
and that the barber shop isn't just a shop however it's also
a place where these men can go to chill out and socialise
with each other. We also see a medium close up shot here
of the barbers tools that they are using.
Throughout the next few shots we they switch from different
angles very quickly as we can see here the shot used is a close up
shot of the customer getting his hair cut and he is facing towards
the camera at an angle however the shots switch to the back of
his head and switch to the barbers tools that he is using. These
shots go well together as they work in time of the music. Then
throughout the video we see promotion of which barber is cutting
hair and we see different angles of the barber cutting hair. As you
can see from the last picture the barber is giving the customer a
modern day hairstyle which is a fade. This shows the barber shop
being trendy and shows how it fits in to its target audience
Throughout the video it follows the same concept where we see the barbers Instagram handle so we know who the
barber is that is cutting who's hair and then we see a variety of different shots and different camera angles of the
barber and the customer cutting hair. We all so very quick transitions often so the video doesn’t just stay on one
shot for too long. This makes the video more exciting to watch. When watching the video we can see the barbers are
quite tattooed up and have a few piercing, they are also styled wearing streetwear clothes. This links in to
streetwear and barbering having the same target audience. The instrumental that has been used for this video is a
hip-hop instrumental and it is a song by Meek Mill ft Tory Lanez – Litty again. I think this instrumental works well for
the video because there is a link between music , streetwear /fashion and barbers. Using this instrumental appeals
to the target audiences because the target audience of the barber shops will be teenagers that are again into hip-
hop so using this song that is well known and has been remade by many other artists will grab the audience's
attention.

This video starts of by showing the barber shop
logos right at the start of the video on a plain
screen. Then it transitions into the next shot
which is a close up shot of the tools that the
barber uses. Then we see a shot of the apron
he puts on the customer which has the brands
logo there.
Then we see a close up shot of the bottle he uses to spray
water on the customers head and the bottle is Jack Daniels
themed. This shows his target audience is older teenagers at
the barber shop here. It could also suggest the barbers shop
is social like a pub where guys can go there and get their hair
cut and just chill out. Then we see a medium close up shot of
the barber cutting hair and I the top right corner we see a
character profile where we can see the barbers name and his
role. This works effective as it lets the consumer of the video
have a personal interaction with the barber. In that shot we
can also see that the barber has tattoos all on his neck and on
his arms. This links into the style of barbering that he is doing
and the audience that this video would be targeted at. We
then see another close up shot that has been used to show
the barber Michael cutting his customers hair. He has given
the customer a fade which is common with the younger
generation that the business is trying to target.
In this shot we see a medium close up shot of a customer playing on
a ps4 in the game zone. This would attract the young audience to
come to this barber shop to get their haircut as whilst they are
waiting they can play on the ps4 and have fun instead of being
bored whilst they wait to have their hair cut. The ps4 in the video
also suggest to us that the atmosphere at this barber shop is pretty
chilled out and when you are there getting your hair cut you can just
socialise and have a good timeThroughout this video we see a lot of close up shots and
medium close up shots. These shots are mainly used as
we are able to see how skilled the barbers are at cutting
hair and as the main purpose of the business to cut and
style hair this is a great way to get that across to the
consumer watching this video. Throughout the video we
see a lot of branding of the company

This poster of the Eastown Barber shop iv very simple. It has a simple color scheme of just black and white. The
simple color scheme allows the audience just so simply see the important information which is just the Barber
shop name, the number of the shop and the location. The main part of the poster is the logo as this is placed in
the middle of the page and the logo is also bigger than the text around it which makes the logo stand out to the
audience. This would be affective as this poster draws the majority of the attention to the logo which means that
It will be recognized by the consumer whenever they see this logo. The font they they have used for the logo is a
fancy italic text. I think this text works well with the poster as the poster is fairly simple and the white text on the
black background makes it easy to read. The logo is positioned to the centered to the middle of the page. Whilst
the other information such as the name of the barber and the location etc. are aligned to the left of the page.
The location for the store had been placed at the bottom of the page. The text used is simple which makes it
effective as it can easily be read by the audience which is obviously going to help as if they are interested in
going to this barber then they will need to know where the business is.
Logos for Barbershops tend to be fairly simple such as this is a logo for a barber shop called “Franklin’s
Barbershop & Hair Saloon” and they are a barber with a modern day and masculine style. The font that has
been used here is simple and it is easy to read and can be seen easily by the audience. The color of the font is
black which is simple and this will make the logo work on posters, video or anywhere else that Franklins
decides to brand their logo. The “I” in Franklins has been replaced with a barber pole to let the audience
know that this is a barber shop. This is effective because even though it doesn’t say that it is a barber shop in
the logo people will see the red , blue and white barber pole and immediately know that this is a barber shop
because this is a tradition that relates to the middle ages where barbers would preform surgery on their
customers.

Here is a poster price list for a barber shop called Stasi. The poster has the brand
name at the top of the page in the same font that is used for their logo. For the
background they have a photo from their barber shop of a chair with a light gray
overlay over the picture. I think this looks effective and works as it looks
aesthetically pleasing to the audience and doesn’t look boring to look at. The color
scheme for this price list of the barber is gray, black and red. These colors are
complimentary colors and they work well together on the poster. The majority of
the text is black apart from the headings which are res and the “STASI DELUXE”
Price which is also red. This works effectively because the headings stand out to the
audience so they can easily see how much it is going to cost for the cut that they
want. Stasi deluxe is also all red because this makes it stand out from the rest of the
price so again it can easily be seen and it shows that it isn't just a normal hair cut
however it is a “Stasi Deluxe” where you get the full package. The font that has
been used for this poster is very plain and simple so that it can easily be read by the
audience so they immediately know how much it will cost them. At the top left of
the poster it says “price list” and the size of the font is noticeably bigger than the
rest which is so the customer can immediately identify that this poster is a price list
so that they w where to look to find out how much a hair cut will cost or how much
a beard trim will cost etc.

This is KingKoby merchandise for the brand they have a range of
products from hats to t-shirts to shirts that are targeted at young
males. The products they have tend to promote their brands. Their
products tend to be fairly simple with the name of brand on it. These
products are similar to street wear brands such as supreme, obey and
off-white the designs that they have used. These clothes will help
promote the business because they are fashionable and have good
designs which will want customers want to buy their products and this
will help the business as when they are walking around with these
clothes they are promoting the barber shop which could lead to them
getting more customers.
This price list for the poster uses a a very simple color scheme of just black
and white. At the top of the price list we have the brands logo which helps
the customer recognize the brand. At the bottom of the page there is the
phone number in a bold white font. The prices of what the barber offers. The
font here is simple and white which is affective as it can easily be seen by the
consumer so they know how much it will be priced. From looking at the price
we know that it s aimed at teenagers because it is reasonably priced and not
too expensive. At each side of the poster there is a barber shop pole which
represents as well as the barbershop being modern it is also traditional. The
pole is symbolizes that this business is a barbershop and customers will know
that as it has been around for many many years.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products
have?
Common features within the products that I have researched is that they use similar techniques
such as within the promotional video they tend to use hip-hop / rap music in the . They do this
because it relates to the target audience. Another common feature that these products have in is
that within the price list and posters for the barber shop they use simple font that is easy to read.
Another common feature is that is that the posters and pricelist tend to use a simple colour
scheme and will mainly use 2/3 colours. This is so all the important information such as the prices
and the location of the business. I have also noticed that the logos are very simple for barber shop
and the majority of barber shops logos tend to include the
• What aspects of the research will you include within your
own production work?
Some aspects that will include in my work will be when I design my poster / pricelist I will
keep it simple. I will stick to a simple colour scheme that will work well with my design of
the poster. I am going to include hip-hop music within my promotional video as when I have
watched existing promotional videos they include this sort of music as this links back to the
male teenagers target audience.

The history behind barber shops is that they were known as
barber surgeons as they would extract teeth as well as other
minor surgical procedures. This is where the barber poll comes
from. The red and white strips as the white and red stripes
symbolise the bandages that the barbers would of used on the
patent. Barbershops to this day are now modern and seen as a
hangout place where people can chill there and watch tv, have a
beer and even play games. Barbershops these days often also
sell their own clothes and they're own hair products to their
customers.
Subject Research
Streetwear is a style of clothing that was influenced by what is currently happening on
the streets which is where it gets its name “streetwear” from and this style of clothing
is always evolving. Streetwear is usually based around comfy and casual clothing.
Streetwear first became popular along skateboarders within New York and Los
Angeles. Shawn Stussy is credited as one of the originator of the
streetwear movements. Streetwear has been evolving since 1970 and is very common
within hip-hop as well as skateboarding. Brands such as supreme helped move
streetwear forward and helped the popularity of the movement. Streetwear has now
become very popular over the past few years with many hip-hop stars such as Drake
who would post streetwear photos on social media which definitely elevated
streetwear and made streetwear more popular throughout the years.

Practical Research
Practical Research
Here is an experiment I have made on photoshop. With the
background image I have changed the blending options to soft light
which allows this image to be used as an overlay over the black
background whilst still being able to see the image. At the top of the
page I have included the name of the barbershop in a big bold white
font. This allows makes it easier to be seen from a distance and it
stands out. At the side of the name I have included the barbering
pole so that when people see the poster they can easily identify that
this is for a barber shop as the polls identify this. The barber shop
polls have been around for many years and it is traditional so that it
suggests that even though the barber shop does modern haircuts it
also has the traditional ones and traditional elements to the shop. I
think a key thing to remember when creating posters is to make the
use of the space and to space the text out so that it isn't so cramped
into one space.
Practical Research
A key thing to remember when taking photos for my project is the camera
settings. The settings that the camera is on is the most important part for
photography. When taking any photos it is important to have the exposure of
the camera set right so you can see how light or how dark your image is going
to be. Another thing which is important is the exposure triangle. The
exposure triangle is 3 different variables that determine the exposure of an
image. Each different setting control the exposure differently. The first one is
aperture which is depth of field. The next one is iso speed which determines
image noise and the third one is shutter speed which controls motion blur. An
adjustment to one of these settings will also require an adjustment to one of
the others which is why it is important to understand the exposure triangle.
Practical Research
An important factor to remember when creating the poster, video and
product would be to think about different fonts to use and lso thinking about
different colours and what goes well together. When thinking about what
colours to use make sure that the colours work well together and also make
sure the colours are readable such bright coloured text show up better on a
dark background. This is important for creating the poster because I want it to
be readable with all the essential information that I need on it and as well I
want the poster to look aesthetically pleasing. Another important factor
would be to choose the right font. The font needs to match the poster and to
match the theme of the poster so that it all looks good together and look
aesthetically pleasing to the audience. On barbershop posters they tend to
use simple colours such as white black and red as the
Practical Research
When filming my promotional video it is essential to get the right shots needed so that
I can make my video look professional and furfil its purpose. The purpose of my video
that I will create is to promote the barber shop. When filming the video I will need to
take lots of different shots including close up shots as this allows the consumer to
clearly see the barbers skill of cutting hair. Medium shots will be useful because you
will be able to see the barber cutting the clients hair as well as being able to see the
clients hair at the same time. These shots are also essential as it brings the consumer
into the experience and it shows the consumer what the barbers would see for them
selves. Another key element would be to get b-roll shots of the barber shop as this
shows what the atmosphere is like in the shop and it sets the mood as it gives you the
experience of the barbershop and shows you what it is going to be like there. Another
thing in which it is important to do is when editing make sure the video goes with the
music I.e when the beat drop change shots and make sure the music mathces the
barbershop.

  • 2. Existing Product At the start of this Barber promotional video it starts off with a drone shot of the city with the logo in the middle of the page and the shop name at the top of the logo. The camera continues to go forward of the city whilst the logo slowly fades away and then the logo isn't on the screen and the camera continues moving still. The camera then quickly zooms into this car and we can see the car has a sticker with the barber shop logo on the back window. This would be effective as it is good branding as when the consumer keeps seeing this logo they will be reminded of the barber shop. The next shot we see is the barber at his shop walking to his sign and then plugs it in. The next shot then goes outside the shop and we see the shop and right before the beat drops on the song we see the barber sign flash saying the shop I open Next we see someone step out of the car as soon as the beat drops. The guy that is getting out the car is dressed well and I would say his style of clothing fits in the streetwear category. After the guy gets out the car the switches to the barber stood outside meeting the customer. This transition in the video is very quick and is on the screen for about a split second however this works really well with the beat. The shot after this we see is the customer and the barber both walking into the shop together however the camera here is mainly focused on the sign which has the name of the business as well as the phone number which is going to be essential for the video as then the audience know what the business is called and how they can contact the business Then we see a close up shot of the barbers shop doors and the doors have the logo on again whilst the guy opening the door has the logo on the back of his jacket. Then we see some clips of products / items in the barber shop such as the equipment that they use etc. We also see this one shot where the desk is and again on the desk we can see it has the logo on it and we can also see the mirror which has a massive logo on it. This is another way that is used to get the logo stuck into the consumers head so that they will then recognise the brand. The next shot after this is filmed through the window and we see the barber fist bumping all the other barbers which suggests to the customer that they're all friendly and it shows the chilled out atmosphere of the shop
  • 3. Existing ProductWe then see a medium long shot of a customer walking into the barber shop. And then they have used a medium shot of the two customers sat together talking whilst one customer is getting his hair cut. When we see the customers talking and everyone being all chilled out this shows us that the atmosphere at the shop is very friendly and that the barber shop isn't just a shop however it's also a place where these men can go to chill out and socialise with each other. We also see a medium close up shot here of the barbers tools that they are using. Throughout the next few shots we they switch from different angles very quickly as we can see here the shot used is a close up shot of the customer getting his hair cut and he is facing towards the camera at an angle however the shots switch to the back of his head and switch to the barbers tools that he is using. These shots go well together as they work in time of the music. Then throughout the video we see promotion of which barber is cutting hair and we see different angles of the barber cutting hair. As you can see from the last picture the barber is giving the customer a modern day hairstyle which is a fade. This shows the barber shop being trendy and shows how it fits in to its target audience Throughout the video it follows the same concept where we see the barbers Instagram handle so we know who the barber is that is cutting who's hair and then we see a variety of different shots and different camera angles of the barber and the customer cutting hair. We all so very quick transitions often so the video doesn’t just stay on one shot for too long. This makes the video more exciting to watch. When watching the video we can see the barbers are quite tattooed up and have a few piercing, they are also styled wearing streetwear clothes. This links in to streetwear and barbering having the same target audience. The instrumental that has been used for this video is a hip-hop instrumental and it is a song by Meek Mill ft Tory Lanez – Litty again. I think this instrumental works well for the video because there is a link between music , streetwear /fashion and barbers. Using this instrumental appeals to the target audiences because the target audience of the barber shops will be teenagers that are again into hip- hop so using this song that is well known and has been remade by many other artists will grab the audience's attention.
  • 4. Existing Product This video starts of by showing the barber shop logos right at the start of the video on a plain screen. Then it transitions into the next shot which is a close up shot of the tools that the barber uses. Then we see a shot of the apron he puts on the customer which has the brands logo there. Then we see a close up shot of the bottle he uses to spray water on the customers head and the bottle is Jack Daniels themed. This shows his target audience is older teenagers at the barber shop here. It could also suggest the barbers shop is social like a pub where guys can go there and get their hair cut and just chill out. Then we see a medium close up shot of the barber cutting hair and I the top right corner we see a character profile where we can see the barbers name and his role. This works effective as it lets the consumer of the video have a personal interaction with the barber. In that shot we can also see that the barber has tattoos all on his neck and on his arms. This links into the style of barbering that he is doing and the audience that this video would be targeted at. We then see another close up shot that has been used to show the barber Michael cutting his customers hair. He has given the customer a fade which is common with the younger generation that the business is trying to target. In this shot we see a medium close up shot of a customer playing on a ps4 in the game zone. This would attract the young audience to come to this barber shop to get their haircut as whilst they are waiting they can play on the ps4 and have fun instead of being bored whilst they wait to have their hair cut. The ps4 in the video also suggest to us that the atmosphere at this barber shop is pretty chilled out and when you are there getting your hair cut you can just socialise and have a good timeThroughout this video we see a lot of close up shots and medium close up shots. These shots are mainly used as we are able to see how skilled the barbers are at cutting hair and as the main purpose of the business to cut and style hair this is a great way to get that across to the consumer watching this video. Throughout the video we see a lot of branding of the company
  • 5. Existing Product This poster of the Eastown Barber shop iv very simple. It has a simple color scheme of just black and white. The simple color scheme allows the audience just so simply see the important information which is just the Barber shop name, the number of the shop and the location. The main part of the poster is the logo as this is placed in the middle of the page and the logo is also bigger than the text around it which makes the logo stand out to the audience. This would be affective as this poster draws the majority of the attention to the logo which means that It will be recognized by the consumer whenever they see this logo. The font they they have used for the logo is a fancy italic text. I think this text works well with the poster as the poster is fairly simple and the white text on the black background makes it easy to read. The logo is positioned to the centered to the middle of the page. Whilst the other information such as the name of the barber and the location etc. are aligned to the left of the page. The location for the store had been placed at the bottom of the page. The text used is simple which makes it effective as it can easily be read by the audience which is obviously going to help as if they are interested in going to this barber then they will need to know where the business is. Logos for Barbershops tend to be fairly simple such as this is a logo for a barber shop called “Franklin’s Barbershop & Hair Saloon” and they are a barber with a modern day and masculine style. The font that has been used here is simple and it is easy to read and can be seen easily by the audience. The color of the font is black which is simple and this will make the logo work on posters, video or anywhere else that Franklins decides to brand their logo. The “I” in Franklins has been replaced with a barber pole to let the audience know that this is a barber shop. This is effective because even though it doesn’t say that it is a barber shop in the logo people will see the red , blue and white barber pole and immediately know that this is a barber shop because this is a tradition that relates to the middle ages where barbers would preform surgery on their customers.
  • 6. Existing Product Here is a poster price list for a barber shop called Stasi. The poster has the brand name at the top of the page in the same font that is used for their logo. For the background they have a photo from their barber shop of a chair with a light gray overlay over the picture. I think this looks effective and works as it looks aesthetically pleasing to the audience and doesn’t look boring to look at. The color scheme for this price list of the barber is gray, black and red. These colors are complimentary colors and they work well together on the poster. The majority of the text is black apart from the headings which are res and the “STASI DELUXE” Price which is also red. This works effectively because the headings stand out to the audience so they can easily see how much it is going to cost for the cut that they want. Stasi deluxe is also all red because this makes it stand out from the rest of the price so again it can easily be seen and it shows that it isn't just a normal hair cut however it is a “Stasi Deluxe” where you get the full package. The font that has been used for this poster is very plain and simple so that it can easily be read by the audience so they immediately know how much it will cost them. At the top left of the poster it says “price list” and the size of the font is noticeably bigger than the rest which is so the customer can immediately identify that this poster is a price list so that they w where to look to find out how much a hair cut will cost or how much a beard trim will cost etc.
  • 7. Existing Product This is KingKoby merchandise for the brand they have a range of products from hats to t-shirts to shirts that are targeted at young males. The products they have tend to promote their brands. Their products tend to be fairly simple with the name of brand on it. These products are similar to street wear brands such as supreme, obey and off-white the designs that they have used. These clothes will help promote the business because they are fashionable and have good designs which will want customers want to buy their products and this will help the business as when they are walking around with these clothes they are promoting the barber shop which could lead to them getting more customers. This price list for the poster uses a a very simple color scheme of just black and white. At the top of the price list we have the brands logo which helps the customer recognize the brand. At the bottom of the page there is the phone number in a bold white font. The prices of what the barber offers. The font here is simple and white which is affective as it can easily be seen by the consumer so they know how much it will be priced. From looking at the price we know that it s aimed at teenagers because it is reasonably priced and not too expensive. At each side of the poster there is a barber shop pole which represents as well as the barbershop being modern it is also traditional. The pole is symbolizes that this business is a barbershop and customers will know that as it has been around for many many years.
  • 8. Research Analysis • What common features do the researched products have? Common features within the products that I have researched is that they use similar techniques such as within the promotional video they tend to use hip-hop / rap music in the . They do this because it relates to the target audience. Another common feature that these products have in is that within the price list and posters for the barber shop they use simple font that is easy to read. Another common feature is that is that the posters and pricelist tend to use a simple colour scheme and will mainly use 2/3 colours. This is so all the important information such as the prices and the location of the business. I have also noticed that the logos are very simple for barber shop and the majority of barber shops logos tend to include the • What aspects of the research will you include within your own production work? Some aspects that will include in my work will be when I design my poster / pricelist I will keep it simple. I will stick to a simple colour scheme that will work well with my design of the poster. I am going to include hip-hop music within my promotional video as when I have watched existing promotional videos they include this sort of music as this links back to the male teenagers target audience.

  • 18. Subject Research The history behind barber shops is that they were known as barber surgeons as they would extract teeth as well as other minor surgical procedures. This is where the barber poll comes from. The red and white strips as the white and red stripes symbolise the bandages that the barbers would of used on the patent. Barbershops to this day are now modern and seen as a hangout place where people can chill there and watch tv, have a beer and even play games. Barbershops these days often also sell their own clothes and they're own hair products to their customers.
  • 19. Subject Research Streetwear is a style of clothing that was influenced by what is currently happening on the streets which is where it gets its name “streetwear” from and this style of clothing is always evolving. Streetwear is usually based around comfy and casual clothing. Streetwear first became popular along skateboarders within New York and Los Angeles. Shawn Stussy is credited as one of the originator of the streetwear movements. Streetwear has been evolving since 1970 and is very common within hip-hop as well as skateboarding. Brands such as supreme helped move streetwear forward and helped the popularity of the movement. Streetwear has now become very popular over the past few years with many hip-hop stars such as Drake who would post streetwear photos on social media which definitely elevated streetwear and made streetwear more popular throughout the years. https://www.quora.com/What-is-streetwear-fashion
  • 21. Practical Research Here is an experiment I have made on photoshop. With the background image I have changed the blending options to soft light which allows this image to be used as an overlay over the black background whilst still being able to see the image. At the top of the page I have included the name of the barbershop in a big bold white font. This allows makes it easier to be seen from a distance and it stands out. At the side of the name I have included the barbering pole so that when people see the poster they can easily identify that this is for a barber shop as the polls identify this. The barber shop polls have been around for many years and it is traditional so that it suggests that even though the barber shop does modern haircuts it also has the traditional ones and traditional elements to the shop. I think a key thing to remember when creating posters is to make the use of the space and to space the text out so that it isn't so cramped into one space.
  • 22. Practical Research A key thing to remember when taking photos for my project is the camera settings. The settings that the camera is on is the most important part for photography. When taking any photos it is important to have the exposure of the camera set right so you can see how light or how dark your image is going to be. Another thing which is important is the exposure triangle. The exposure triangle is 3 different variables that determine the exposure of an image. Each different setting control the exposure differently. The first one is aperture which is depth of field. The next one is iso speed which determines image noise and the third one is shutter speed which controls motion blur. An adjustment to one of these settings will also require an adjustment to one of the others which is why it is important to understand the exposure triangle.
  • 23. Practical Research An important factor to remember when creating the poster, video and product would be to think about different fonts to use and lso thinking about different colours and what goes well together. When thinking about what colours to use make sure that the colours work well together and also make sure the colours are readable such bright coloured text show up better on a dark background. This is important for creating the poster because I want it to be readable with all the essential information that I need on it and as well I want the poster to look aesthetically pleasing. Another important factor would be to choose the right font. • 24. Practical Research When filming my promotional video it is essential to get the right shots needed so that I can make my video look professional and furfil its purpose. The purpose of my video that I will create is to promote the barber shop. When filming the video I will need to take lots of different shots including close up shots as this allows the consumer to clearly see the barbers skill of cutting hair. Medium shots will be useful because you will be able to see the barber cutting the clients hair as well as being able to see the clients hair at the same time. These shots are also essential as it brings the consumer into the experience and it shows the consumer what the barbers would see for them selves. Another key element would be to get b-roll shots of the barber shop as this shows what the atmosphere is like in the shop and it sets the mood as it gives you the experience of the barbershop and shows you what it is going to be like there. Another thing in which it is important to do is when editing make sure the video goes with the music I.e when the beat drop change shots and make sure the music mathces the barbershop.

  15. If you do any additional subject research, record that here. This might be most relevant if you are producing a magazine or a documentary but even a fiction trailer might require some additional research in to a particular subject. Getting some background information on your subject would be a really good idea. Find some resources, log them, read them and write something about them.

  17. Undertaking practical research is another great way to improve your project. Experimenting with techniques, equipment and processes you might want to use in you project will help you plan for the future. Think about what you will research. It could be studio photography, or sound recording, or post-production techniques for video or animation techniques for a video game. Tutorials are useful here. Make something similar but unrelated to your chosen idea. Do not make it a version of your final product; it is an experiment Provide a reflection of the processes you used and how it has been useful. Don’t do something that you already know how to do.
