Leticia Pozze evaluated their FMP project of creating a magazine. Their research provided ideas but could have included more details on existing products. Planning helped choose the idea and layout but more detail could be added. Time management was good as all work met deadlines. Feedback noted the sub-heading font could be clearer and more background on heroes could be included in the double page spread. Overall the project looked like a real magazine cover but improvements could be made to font clarity and article details.
3. Research
• Strengths:
– The research PowerPoint helped me to collect some ideas using
different kind of magazines to look what I would wanted to include in
my product.
– The audience profile made me think if my magazine would appeal to
my audience.
• Weaknesses:
– I could have done better with my research PowerPoint by giving more
information in some existing products.
– The information is quite limited, it might not help in my final product.
4. Planning
• Strengths:
– This helped me to choose my final idea and how I wanted to create my
magazine and my article. I created the magazine and the article layout
using some magazines to inspire me and to give me some ideas about
what exactly I wanted to do in my product.
– It also helped me to decide and remember what fonts I wanted to use
in my product.
• Weaknesses:
– I could improve my style sheet by giving more detail in my writing.
– It took time to do my layout because I changed the film that I chose in
my initial plans. I found it more easy to create a magazine about
superheroes.
5. Time Management
• My time was managed well, I finished all my work in time to
the deadline. I started to do this project on the week that we
came back to college after the Christmas break. I think I have
done good work doing a magazine cover and the article in this
time.
• Next time I would improve the plan of my double page spread
because I spent lots of time thinking about what I wanted to
include in the article. Maybe another time I would spend
more time drawing and planning the layout and the writing of
my double page spread.
6. Technical Qualities
Similarities: Both magazine covers have the
title of the movie and the name of the
company. Also, the magazines are about
heroes. I found this magazine and my product
similar because in both the character of the
film is in the center of the image and I think
this catches the audience’s attention more
easily. The double page spreads have a short
description about the film that are going to be
released.
Differences: In the existing double page, the
article is only about the Spider Man. On my
product, I collected information about several
main heroes of Avengers. The half of the
double page has an image of the Spider Man,
in my product both pages have information
about the heroes and the description of the
new film.
My final product.
Existing product.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
I think I did my work well because it is quite creative. I like the
double page spread because I think the background merges with
the images that is in the double page. Next time I would
improve the sub-heading of my magazine cover because it can’t
be seen clearly, another time I might change the colour of the
font or the font style of the sub-heading.
- Strengths: I really like
my product because I
think I did good work
doing the article and
the magazine cover
because of the theme
that I chose to do. I
liked the fonts that I
used and also the
background of both
products.
- Weaknesses: I spent
too much time doing
the double page
spread because I
needed to plan what
exactly I wanted to do
in this page.
8. Audience Appeal
My product appeals to my audience because I have used images of
superhero characters and the logo of The Avengers and a superhero star
shape graphic, which will appeal to anyone who likes the Avengers or the
characters of this film. My audience might be interested in reading this
magazine because they might like superheroes or marvel’s films. My
magazine appeals to everyone who likes to spend time reading magazines
and people who might be interested in reading a comic magazine.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I like that on the spread sheet its really descriptive
making it really interesting to read along with the
pictures to go with it. Also I really like the cover
magazine as it really looks like a magazine.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I think that the writing in the star is a hard to read,
maybe next time you could either make it bigger or
change the colour of the text.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– The product looks very professional, as if it could be a
real magazine cover – it has all the main features to
make it look like a serious cover.
– I love how the Images on the double spread merge in
with back ground.
– I like the theme of the double spread, it’s interesting
to learn about the different super hero’s.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– The font that the sub- headlines are written in could
be a little more captivating.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– Its clear, well constructed and very eye catching.
– Its easy to read.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Too expensive
– In the double page spread, the outline of the pictures
should be black to blend in with the background
– The font of the “STAR” should look more comic
– In the sub-headlines the font is not clear and they are
very small.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I strongly agree that the sub-heading isn’t easy to read and
next time I will change the colour or the font.
– I also agree that I have chosen the right theme to do a
magazine cover for. I found it easy to create it around my
favourite superheroes.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– I disagree that I should have changed the font of the
company name to be more comic like. I liked the font that
way because it looks comic and delicate.
– The outline of the images in the double page spread make
it more easy for the audience to see the logo of the
superhero.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
• I would change the colour of the text of my
sub-heading because it can’t be seen clearly.
The colour of the font is too light, it doesn’t
stand out from the background colour.
• If I had more time to do it, I would give more
information about the hero because I think I
didn’t give lot of background detail.
