3. Planning
• It gave me the idea to make a draft before I made the final product, and
gave me the chance to make sure that everything that I wanted to do for
my final piece was viable and could be done for the magazine genre and
style that I wanted to create.
• It also helped me choose what genre and style of magazine I wanted to
create to help me narrow down my target audience for the article and
cover that I was going to create.
4. Research
I feel like the research helped me a lot in choosing the overall
style of the aesthetic qualities of the magazine that I created,
such as the background pictures, the fonts and the colour
scheme.
One of the weaknesses of the research could be that you find
out that what you want to do has already been done or that your
idea is something that you shouldn’t or cant do in the style of
magazine that you want to create.
5. Time Management
• I didn’t manage my time very well during the production of
my magazine because I spent a lot of time researching what I
was going to write in the actual article as oppose to creating
the cover of the magazine in Photoshop.
• If I had had more time I would have probably put more detail
into the cover of the magazine as well as making the double
page spread a bit more realistic.
6. Technical Qualities
Both my cover and the existing product use a similar
method of having a simple cover that isn't too full so
that you can see the background image, with a bold
headline for the main article featured in it, as well as
a line at the top or bottom to advertise other articles
featured in the magazine.
Some of the differences between my product and the
existing product are the use of different colours for
the writing on the story headline and the tagline from
the title, as well as the placement of the tagline as
mine was placed at the bottom and the existing
products was placed at the very top above the title.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
My work could have looked better in my opinion as the quality of some of
the images that I used were quite poor and not very high resolution and
made it hard to add writing over the top that looked acceptable due to the
colours that were in the photo, and it also was quite different to the colours
see n in the second image on the front cover which made for quite a
strange contrast which I don’t think worked very well.
8. Audience Appeal
I thin that some of the aspects of the magazine
that I created that would appeal to my target
audience and age group could be the choice of
show that I made to base the main article off of
as ‘Stranger Things’ is very popular to people in
my target audience, and also the style of the
magazine which I think looks quite modern
which would appeal to a younger audience.
I think that the use of bold colours that
contrast from the background image that I
used in the writing of the magazine cover
would appeal and catch the eye of people in
my target audience, as well as the choice of
headline topic that I chose for the article as
it is something that is viewed a lot by
people in the target age group that I chose.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the fonts used and the colour scheme behind it. I like the use of the plug
In the left hand corner of the screen. The barcode used In the bottom right
corner makes the magazine look authentic.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• The improvements that could be made is the use the line stated a the bottom as it
looks a bit stupid.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
• I really like this product, it has great character. The headline article shown on the
cover reflects well with the target audience.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– The circle with writing in is a bit off centre
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the use of some of the colours from the background image to create the
circle and the plus sign as it adds to the colour scheme without making it all
one colour so tha other parts still stand out more.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Make sure everything I centred and measured better so that nothing looks off
centre or wonky as some of the writing does on the cover.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– The quality of the writing and fonts could have been improved so that
it looked more realistic and of a higher quality tan it does.
– Could have used less bold and stand out fonts and colours for the
writing as it looked quite strange in comparison to the rest of the
cover.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I think the colour scheme between fonts and images could have been
improved a lot more than it was.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
– I would have probably changed the colour and boldness of
the fonts used, as I think it looked like they were sat above
the cover, as oppose to being a part of it.
– I would have found a better background image of a higher
quality, and would have used a better matching colour
scheme so that the style of font and writing didn't’t look
totally out of place, which I feel that mine did.
– I would have taken more time and carefully placed some
aspects of the cover so that they didn't’t look off centre
and all fit into the shapes or guidelines that I had put in
place for them.
