2. Week 1
I’ve decided that this product is for young adults and adults as well as it will be a magazine for those that are interested in
Interior Design. I haven’t decided yet the area that I will be working on such as magazine or a book. I feel like the book is
easiest than the magazine as it doesn’t actually have layout, it is free to create however I intent to but I also like the idea of
creating a magazine, using an existing layout as a base to produce my own. Another thing about magazine is that I have an
idea of how it might look like but I still unsure of how to create the book. This might change over the weeks and I might
feel free while creating the book instead of the magazine. Creating this book is important to me because it will be the last
project that I will be working on that is about demonstrating my ideas through Photoshop. Whereas at the university I will
be focusing on developing new skills to become an interior designer. Alternatively, this might be challenging because I
chose to create an interior design product which is different from my past projects as I always ended up doing about
fashion. However, having learned, I now feel like it will be worth connect my skills to something new, I will be learning
through each process of collecting information about interior design.
What worries me the most is not having enough interesting content to make the book complete and appealing to the
audience that I have chosen. I haven’t completely thought about the written part and this is what worries me the most
during this project. To knowledge this I intent to research plenty of information that will help me have an idea of what will
be interesting to talk about in the book.
This week I have focused on researching about potential influences on my product. I looked into photographers, graphic
designers and interior designers which has helped me develop an idea for this project. For me, the most useful element
were knowing about the colour theory which I didn’t know about it before, it shows how the colours express the moods
and what they are trying to pass through. I think that I will be focusing on knowing more about interior designers, what
makes them decide each aspect from the space. I will be always looking into magazine and book covers to see closely what
elements makes the page interesting and eye catching. During this week I’m planning to carry on researching different
existing products that will be sort an inspiration for this project. I will be also looking closely about my audience and
audience research to know more about the audience of the existing products. I might finish this week creating a survey so
that I can have enough response for next week.

3. Week 2
In this week I was focused on researching the right products Through this I was able to analyse the methods
and the aspects that they’ve used in the process. I was also able to collect a base idea about the content that
I will be including in my product such as tips of decorating and organize the space or DIY of how to make a
nice decorating item to use.
This week I also researched about my audience, I took a good look of how the existing products have
appealed their audience through their work and what aspects it was catching my attention to read that
specifically product. Most of them was because of the colours and the layout, because of that I’ve also
decided that I will be using a mix of neutral colours and a different layout on each page so that the pages
could look even more interesting than what I had planned. The audience secondary helped me to visualize
the audience from different products. My main intention was search a diversity of products such as books,
magazines, portfolio and websites that helped me collect different ideas for this new project.
However, I also created a survey to collect responses from my audience. While analysing the survey, I was
able to see that the majority of my audience are young adults aged 18-24 years old which I was considering
make the product appealing to them. For the survey I tried to get different questions that will be helpful and
relevant to this product. I gave the questions that the audience will be answering with their own opinion
about certain things but at the same time, it will also help me decide parts of my project. For example, I asked
them about their favourite part of the house and the majority said bedroom, for that I can build only a scale
model from a bedroom and use a decoration related to the season that they have chosen the most which was
spring. Next week I will be researching closely of how to create this scale model so that I can have a base idea
of how to create it along with the furniture. I will also be researching experiments to try on as I will also try
different methods of creating a nice background. I feel like this will help me achieve what my audience is
expecting and also what I’m planning to create.

4. Week 3
Through my research survey I was able to analyse closely my audience’s opinion about important
aspects of my project. However, I should have done an interview with a specific audience so that I
could get more information about their taste and opinions about interior design. This would help
me decide what would be appealing for that specific person and in what aspects would make the
product appealing for them. The main strengths of researching is being allowed to explore into
different products to see how they have done and why they have done certain decisions which
leaded them to a good product that is appealing to that specific group of audience. I was able to
analyse and understand a bit more about their work and through this I collected different ideas to
use on my own work.
For now I believe that I need to focus a bit more about existing products, this now will be
tutorials that will help me create properly the scale model. I also need to research a bit more
about the interior design trends so that I can get more information about what is on. It will be
helpful achieving this information as I will be writing about in the pages and it will help me
through the small decisions that I have to make for the scale model. Until now it has been quite
difficult to find existing products that will be similar to mine. Some of the products that I’ve found
are magazine and portfolios, my idea is to create a book that will allow me to go further without
any layout to follow or any specific rules that will nominate what the product is. I couldn’t find a
audience kit for books that I researched it was quite hard to find it so I decided to just look into
the existing ones that I looked before and also creating a survey helped me a lot in this project as
I asked my audience only what would be helpful for me.

5. Week 4
In this week I started my problem solving and through this I could analyse the possible problems that might
happen while producing the product. I looked at an existing problem solving so that I could have an idea of
how to make it as we never did this before. I thought it would be more complicated but it seemed very
straightforward as the main objective of this is to analyse the problems and try focus on the solution for that
specific problem. I was also able to research a bit about the professional printing as I still not sure where I will
be printing my work once I finish the product. However, this is something that I still need to research about
and look carefully the place where I will be printing my work. This week I will try find a trustworthy place to
print my work, a place where someone that I know printed before and know how they work if it is a good or
poor quality.
The biggest problem that I’m currently concerned about is making the scale model. I need to make a bit of
research to see the specific things that I will be making so that I can start producing it as soon as possible. I
want to have it completely finished before start producing the rest of my work because I will be using the
scale model as a main image of my book. For this I decided that I will start make the scale model this weekend
creating steps by steps in case that I change my mind of what I want to make. I also need to complete this
step as if it doesn’t work, I still have plenty time to work on my backup plan which is find a good place to take
the pictures that I need. I believe that this is the reason of doing a problem solving, to have always in mind
what can happen and have a plan in case it happens to avoid missing deadlines and get stressed about it.
I like how in each section I get a different idea of the things that I’m considering create in this project. For
example the area where I will be focusing on, I already decided what to focus on while making it, I know what
it will make the product appealing for my audience. My project so far is going as I planned, I didn’t miss any
deadlines which I like to keep in mind. I’m now focusing on make it different from the last projects that I
made. This week I also was able to acknowledge new skills through the experiments, I feel like that this will
make my work unique.

6. Week 4
Last week I focused on learning new things that I might use in this project. This time I
decided to learn a bit more of how to create a 2D landscape in photoshop using simple
tools. At first, I thought that it would be difficult as I wasn’t sure how it would go.
However it ended up pretty well, it needs more practice to make it perfect but it was
really worth to try. In the tutorial it was very detailed and it showed exactly how to
create each part of the landscape. Firstly, I sketched real quick how I wanted my
landscape to be using the brush tool. Then, I hidden the layer with the sketch and started
to use the lasso tool to select the area that later I would paint using the bucket tool. I did
this process over and over until I had all my landscape and the mountain. I learned how
to render a tree and define it a brush to use in a different size or colour. I also learned
how to make a Matte Painting which I think was really interesting to make but it took a
lot of time to make, it was worth in the end. I intend to use this in my final piece as I
might want to add illustrations in some of the pages to make the page interesting and
different. Before starting the production I will need to research in some tutorials how to
create the scale model which it might be the trickier part of this project. I already know
exactly where to find those videos that will help me during the production of this scale
model.

7. Week 5
This week I started planning my project looking closely to how it will
look like. This is hugely important as it allows me to develop my idea
and get it all together to make a nice and interesting product. I think
that this helps me decide important parts of the project and make a
sketch of how it will look like creating a layout. I decided the fonts that
I’m going to use, I have a proper idea for the backgrounds that I want to
create. I also have a colour scheme that I’m planning on use in this
project. So far I know how each page is going to look like because of the
pre-production and for me this is a huge step before production as now I
can focus on the written part of the project. This week my focus on was
in the pages and creating the style sheet, selecting the colour pallets
and the fonts that I might use. Even thought now I have to focus on the
written part to decide what will have in each page and making drafts of
what I want to talk about before making the final draft. After planning, I
feel more ready to start producing my work as now I have most of the
things that I need for creating the pages. My biggest concern now it’s
how I’m going to produce the scale model as it is quite trickier to make
but I will do my best to create a nice scale model even thought I might
not end up using it in the front cover. I experimented creating it this
weekend and it is progressing but I’m not a 100% happy with it, it looks
too big from what I had in mind and it might be because of how it’s
made in the tutorial. However, this is just the first draft, I will try make
another one smaller than this first one so that it could be in the way
that I want it to be.

8. Week 6
Last week I focused on finishing off planning my work. I decided to create a
schedule to help me out doing the exactly things that needs to be done. I feel a
lot confident with my planning as it will be very helpful during the process of
producing my work, it will allows me to use the colour scheme and colours that
I’m planning to use on. It also allows me to have the copy of my work in mind so
that I don’t spend more time writing it, there is a few changes that I will be
doing in this written parts but for now it is pretty good. I would definitely
improve my written part as I don’t think they are good enough, however, this is
something that can be improved when producing the pages.
I also started producing again the scale model as I didn’t like the way of it
ended up so I just restarted from the beginning and this time it is looking what I
was expecting. Some of the items that I used ended so I bought online some
other things that I was going to use and they delivered in non contact way to
keep everyone safe.
I was planning on taking some pictures in some places that I know and take
pictures of the furniture in town which I won’t be able to do because of the
COVID-19. However, I found very interesting free images that I can use on, it is
something that will be extremely helpful for this project. I will be also taking my
images around my own house to use.
