Research
Strengths
• My research just helped me as it gave me and idea of what a good,
successful and professional magazine is. Looking at existing products gave
me an idea of how a real magazine is structured. Making the mind map
helped me to think of lots of ideas so that my magazine would be a
success. The mind maps were useful as I could generate lots of ideas, so if
one idea did not work, I would be able to use one of my other ideas I had
thought of.
Weakness
• With my research I could have looked at more existing products and more
relevant existing products as It would have helped me to get a better view
on how real magazines suited to mine would be structured and planned.
Planning
• Strengths
Planning was a big help when creating my magazine as I could make mock ups
of what I was going to make in my final design. The mock up plans were a big
help when I was designing my final piece because I was able to make a rough
outline and explore multiple ideas when creating my mock up because it was
only a plan and it didn’t count for anything so I could make up lots of different
ideas and explore lots of different ways to structure the magazine.
• Weakness
When planning for my magazine I wish I had created more mock ups ideas so
that I could choose the best of them then make a more detailed version of
them when I designed my final magazine.
Time Management
• I thought that I had managed my time quite well as I met all the deadlines
and stuck to my timetable I had created, with my time I was able to plan
very good draft copies of my final piece which helped me to make my final
piece professional and make it simple to make as I had a rough outline of
what my magazine would look like.
• If I had more time I don’t think I could have made a better magazine as the
article page was filled up full of pictures and text. I also don’t think I could
have made a better front cover as the cover was designed to be simple
and clear to read, if I had more time, I think I would have been able to
check over and define the picture edges a bit more but I think the article
was detailed enough without the extra time.
• If I had more time I think I would have made a second front cover and
compared the two together, to see weather the second front page fit
better with the article inside the magazine.
Technical Qualities
The title is similar to my cover
page as they're both the titles are
large and bold so that they stand
out which will grab the customers
attention. The title are both on
dark background which brings
more attention to the title.
The existing magazine has a lot
more text on the page than mine,
which could be quite filling but
also can be better as it has
adverts on the page and might
make people want to read that
magazine more as they might
have a subject in there that the
customer wants to see. My
magazine cover does not have
lots if text on the page as I didn’t
want to fill it and take the
attention away from the
background as the main topic is
Horizon Zero Dawn which is the
biggest selling point on the
magazine.
The images in the background are
quite dark images so that the text
stands out on the magazine. The
pictures both have the main
character in and a secondary
character like a friend or an enemy
to show what the game is about to
new viewers that have no idea
about the game which would
appealing if the game is very
picturesque and unique
Aesthetic Qualities
• I think my work is of a high quality and very detailed as I spent a lot of time
developing my magazine article.
• I think one of the strengths in the magazine is he simplicity of the magazine
front cover, as the magazine promotes just the one subject which would as it is
clear to the customer what the main subject in the magazine.
• I think that the article was creative as there was a large photo in the middle of
the page which was over-lapping the pages which made the image look like it
was busting out of the page, this is good as it will grab the readers attention
and make them want to read on and see what the pictures background is.
• I would improve my front cover if I could as I think it is a bit basic and not very
appealing, if I had put lots of subheadings and adverts the customer will think
there will be a lot to see in the magazine and it will appeal to them more.
• I like my title, as it is in a good bold font which is easy to read and simplistic
which would appeal to more mature and older customers who don’t want to
see lots of different adverts making the page all to much.
Audience Appeal
• I appealed to my target audience by adding images that will keep the younger audience
entertained but also there is lots of text so that the older audience can enjoy learning
them about the game and what it has to offer.
• The title would be appealing to my audience as the font is very user friendly and easy to
read. The white colouring of the title makes it stand out and grab the customers
attention. The customer will be more likely to buy that magazine as it has big title and
looks more professional so people will think it is better content. The title game central is
good as it speaks to the customer, telling them that it is about gaming and the word
central suggest that this magazine is the central of all information.
• The subtitle will appeal to my audience as it will inform people of what is inside so they
will read the subtitle and want to read more about topic inside.
Peer
Feedback
Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– The title was very easy to read and in a cool font
– I like the colours in the magazine as they are very
eye catching and nice to look at.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Could have been more on the front cover
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
I like the amount of description on the game on the
double page spread and how it tells you what the
game is about.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– The front page could have more writing or a sub
heading.
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– Plenty of information on the games in the double
page spread.
– Title and info on the cover catch the reader’s eyes.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Could do with some more information on the
front cover to entice the readers to read the
magazine.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
– Yes I agree with all my feed back and In future I
will put more detail onto the cover next time.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
– I do not dis agree with any of the feedback
Peer Feedback Summary
I would change the amount of detail on the front cover as it is
a bit bland and not filled with detail. More detail would make
people want the magazine as they will think there is more
information in the magazine if the front cover is filled with
information. Also I think that if there is more subheadings on
the front cover people will find the magazine is clear and
easier to read than the others so they will be more likely to
buy the magazine. If there is lots of detail on the magazine
then it will look more professional.
