3. Research
What the research did to help my product is give me ad outline of what to
talk about. Looking at many Cosplay magazines I discovered a pattern of
image and text linking. This gave me a concept on how I should layout my
main pages in the magazine, with image and text having a link as well as
background information.
Also the research helped me look at all the different types of cover art I could
do. And how it was layout giving me style and picture ideas for my cover. This
meant my cover would look as professional compared to other magazines due
to the style being similar to professional ones.
One of the weaknesses of this was the comparison of each therefor giving me
a lot to look and live up to. Therefor maybe giving me ideas that are out of my
skill set or level due to my skills or the time needed.
4. Planning
After using the research I had to plan out the contents of the magazine. So I
wrote the content of the main page and then added in what images id use.
This would let the viewer see what I was talking about as well as giving
context.
As well as planning the front cover with where id place the characters and the
text and what id advertise as well as the price points. This planning would go
into my final product even though it was done on a word document to start
with.
Issues was this was converting my ideas into play I did not want to copy the
other magazines too much and keep my vibe. Because Im aiming for a
audience that isn’t as popular in the UK as other places.
5. Time Management
The time magament helped me keep
on track throughout the days of
production. But by day 3 I was ahead
of secdual meaning I was doing most
of the stuff in the “day” slot within an
hour. If I could change anything I
would of made it so I had much more
to do.
6. Technical Qualities
What I decided to do was base my layout
on a previous magazine. This magazine
meant more pictures then text and a lot
of how to then information about the
person who's under the mask / costume.
So I changed mine a little to give some
context into pricing. Therefor giving its
own twist on the genre. Although the
images seen on the professional magazine
the lighting is focused due to the caption
wile on mine they're snippets from my
video therefor a lot of editing like
Photoshop was put in place to brighten
up and make my photos look better.
7. Aesthetic Qualities
This is hat I based my cover
off of (the the right) this gave
me and idea of what I wanted
in my production. With the
main character in the center
of the page and little to no
background that is a plain
color to make him stand out.
I faded my background to give
more depth into the character
showing them in different
light. While the image isn’t
to high quality I feel like its
made up with the content on
the cover.
8. Audience Appeal
My audience consisted of the ages 12+ and cosplayers in the UK. This was because
the is a market in the UK for this as well as not many British magazines advertising it.
This meant there was a gap in the market for UK cosplayers, so I used this to my
advantage and aimed it at them. This would mean it would gain huge popularity as
well as being able to sell it at a higher price due to it being one of a kind.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– The layout of the full thing is good and I like the
feel the magazine has. The way that the images on
the double page spread are laid out work well as
the fill a lot of blank space. The titles on the front
cover stand out and make you want to read what
they are about.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– could fill in more of the white spaces.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– The set out is like a professional magazine, the photos on the double
page spread work well and the events sections works well. The break
down of prices shows the cost of Cosplaying which works nicely for a
starting price of a computer. The front cover is very well laid out
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• The product could have been improved by including more writing
content. Although what you have done and how you have broken it
down is good. With the front cover next time use rulers to crop it
inward this will mean all text is in the action safe.
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
I like that the magazine page is very detailed, it has a lot of
information about what Cosplay is and where you can go to
show it of. I also like the list of items provided for if you want
your first Cosplay to be Deadpool.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
I think there could be a bit more information on the different
events that are on that you can go to so you can show of your
Cosplays. I also think it would be a good idea to add the names
of a few websites you can go to buy Cosplay items.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree that the spaces could have been filled up more by content.
– I also agree with cropping in the cover to make sure it fits in. this would of
looked so much more professional and less sloppy on my behalf.
– Agree with more information about different types of Cosplay this would of
given variation to my work and a wider audience.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– i disagree with adding in more writing due to the fact that I wanted short
snappy point for my
– I also disagree with putting links to websites in. as much as it would help the
people looking for Cosplay get what they need it wouldn’t be much use to
them if it’s a link.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
I would off added in much more different types of
Cosplay involved. This would of meant that more
people could of probably enjoyed my magazine.
Maybe bordered the pictures to make them look
more clean. Making it look more professional. As
Well as Talking about the events and the pricing
more because that’s more of a aspect of the Cosplay
then anything else because there is no point in
cosplaying if you cannot afforded to go!
