MOSHIACH IN THE PARSHA
The Torah tells the story of Yaakov’s meeting with Eisav and
the malochim Yaakov sent to him, before their meeting, to
appease him.
Chassidus explains the deeper meaning of the story:
Yaakov, at that moment, was in a very special position. He
had overcome all the difficulties he faced while living with
Lavan in Charan. He had learned lots of Torah and served
Hashem with his whole heart. He conquered his personal
‘Golus’ and fulfilled its purpose.
He, personally, was ready for Moshiach. He therefore sent
malochim to Eisav to check out his matzav ruchni, to see if
- באנו אל אחיך אל עשו he too was ready. Their answer though was
we came to your brother, who is still, Eisav, the Rosho. He still
hasn't returned from his evil ways.
Moshiach did not come then, because the rest of the world
was still in Golus. Now, however, so many years have passed
with Yidden doing Torah and Mitzvos, notwithstanding
the tremendous difficulties of Golus. There's no
doubt that now the whole world, not just the Yidden
(Yaakov), but Eisav as well, is completely ready for the Geulah.

In the Sicha of Chof Av 5710 - just a few months after Yud Shevat - the Rebbe stressed how we
must continue fulfilling the Frierdiker Rebbe’s directives, and by doing so, the Rebbe will fulfill
his havtachos, including his main havtacha of l’alter l’teshuva l’alter l’geula, and he will lead us to
Moshiach.
DIDYOUKNOW
Looking out of his window one day, the Alter Rebbe
observed how the street was being cleaned. The garbage
was being swept together into small piles, and then those
piles were swept together, forming a large mound. The Alter
Rebbe commented to his family: “This is how things will look
before Moshiach comes.
“Nowadays, wealth is in the hands of the many, some
moderately rich and some very. But before Moshiach comes,
money will be concentrated either in the hands of a few private
individuals, or in the hands of the government.”
LIVING LESSONS
When one is
released from prison,
he is required to bring
a Korban Todah.
When Moshiach
arrives, The Yidden,
who have been in
Golus for over 1900
years, will certainly
bring the Korban,
thanking Hashem for
bringing about the
redemption.

The famous Farbrengen of 19 Kislev 5746 (when the Rebbe farbrenged, as is customary, in honor of the Alter Rebbe’s
liberation and the Rosh Hashanah of Chassidus) was the first time the Rebbe encouraged the singing of the newly-composed
Niggun “Didan Notzach.”
The Farbrengen took place at the height of the court case over the Seforim and artifacts which belonged to the Frierdiker Rebbe,
in close proximity to the first hearing dealing with whether the Seforim will remain in the hands of the thief or be returned to the
Rebbe. In essence, this case touched the core of Chassidus Chabad and the entire concept of a Rebbe: Does inheritance apply by the
Nosi Hador or not?
The Rebbe began the Farbrengen by extensively elaborating on the Posuk “podo besholom nafshi,” explaining the advantages of a
“peaceful redemption” over a redemption gained through war, applying this to our daily Avodas Hashem - that not only must a Yid
serve Hashem in a peaceful setting, but even when he finds himself in Golus, in a situation which demands a “(peaceful) redemption,”
our Torah study and fulfillment of Mitzvos must remain in full motion.
The Rebbe went on to discuss a Halacha from the daily Rambam portion which states that although a bull gains the status of
“muad” through the continuous repetition of wild acts, it can nevertheless easily return to its original status of “tam.” This teaches us
that even though the exile is a result of our own “chatoim,” - which applies even to a Tzaddik, who may not have committed sins yet
he is still lacking somewhat in his Avodas Hashem - we can nevertheless still change this with a quick turnaround, by doing Teshuvah
which nullifies the sins.
Every Yid has a “chezkas kashrus.” It therefore follows, beyond all doubt, that every Yid wishes and yearns for the final and complete
redemption, and he will obviously do all that is in his power to usher it in, especially when it is a simple “hirhur teshuvah” (penitential
thought) which renders him a Tzaddik gomur and thereby worthy of the Geulah.
He cries out to Hashem – “Ad Mosai?!” Why must we wait so long for the Geulah? The point here is not to chastise anyone, but
rather one thing only: Where is the “maaseh bepoiel in bringing Moshiach”?!
