MOSHIACH IN THE PARSHA
The word Vayikra, "and he called," is a unique expression in the
Torah. Rashi explains that it is an expression of love, an expression
which malochim use with one another. Hashem "called" Moshe
- expressed His love to him โ€“ before speaking, instructing or
commanding him.
This calling of love to Moshe reflects the revealed connection
between Hashem and the Yidden. The revelation of this connection
was in the resting of the shechina in the Mishkan and then in the
two Botei Hamikdosh.
Although in Golus we donโ€™t have the revelation of Hashem's
connection with us, His love for us hasnโ€™t decreased at all. It's only
the revelation of this love (which we had in the Mishkan and in the
Beis Hamikdosh) which we donโ€™t see, the love itself is eternal.
If we wish to bring back this revelation of Hashem's love for us,
then we must reveal our love for a fellow Jew. We need to invest
personal effort for another person's benefit, in the same way that
we would invest in our own needs. We must realize that as long
as someone else has not left his inner Golus, we are in that same
Golus too!
Revealing our love for one another will cause and bring about
Hashem's "calling" to Moshe - the revelation of his love for us - once
again. Then the third Beis Hamidosh will be built and then there
will be Techias Hameisim, may it happen immediately, Amen!

At the end of a Sicha, in which the Rebbe spoke about the urgent
need for Ahavas Yisroel, the Rebbe says, โ€œAnd through this [Ahavas
Yisroel and Achdus Yisroel], we will merit โ€“ as mentioned earlier โ€“ a
Bittul of the general Golus (since the reason will have been removed,
etc.) And, immediately, HaShem will gather everyone and โ€œA great
congregation (in the singular) will return thereโ€, to our Holy Land, to
the Holy City of Yerushalayim โ€“ โ€œa city that binds togetherโ€, and to the
Third Beis HaMikdosh โ€“ โ€œThe Mikdosh that Your hands workedโ€. With
the true and complete Geulah, through Moshiach Tzidkeinu, speedily
in our days.โ€

All of his days, the Baal Shem Tov tried to recall
the Niggun of Yaakov Avinu, but was unable. What
was the story behind this longing? This is how he
told it over to his students:
โ€œI heard a truly soul-stirring and beautiful melody in
my first Gilgul, as a sheep in Yaakov Avinuโ€™s flock. This
was the Niggun that Yaakov would sing when he would
shepherd his sheep; with which he would pour his soul
before his Creator, until HaShem would heed his prayer
and bless his sheep.
โ€œI have a tradition that Yaakov sent his sons off to
Mitzrayim with this Niggun, as well, as the Posuk says,
โ€œVayomer Aleihem Yisroel Avihem Im Kein Eifoh Zos Asu
Kichu Miโ€™Zimras Haโ€™Aretzโ€ (In Hebrew, โ€œMiโ€™Zimrasโ€
can also be read โ€œMizmeresโ€, โ€œthe song ofโ€).โ€
The Baal Shem Tov continued:
Only once have I heard the Niggun since then, as I was
passing a shepherd who was singing to his flock. When I
heard it, I nearly reverted into a sheepโ€ฆโ€
When the Baal Shem Tov wanted to ascend to Eretz
Yisroel, he said:
โ€œIf I would merit the possibility to hear that Niggun one
more time, and I learned it, I would never forget it. And
when this Niggun would become known to all, Moshiach
would comeโ€ฆโ€

In a letter to the president of Israel, the Rebbe writes about the way he imagined the Geulah and Moshiach's arrival,
"from the day I went to cheder." Throughout the years, the Rebbe โ€œhot gekochtโ€ in the Rambam which says that a Yid has to
be โ€œmachakeh lโ€™bioso.โ€ The Rebbe explained that it is to be understood literally: we are to actively await and do everything in our
power to hasten the Geulah. The Rebbe infused Chassidim with these feelings and values. During farbrengens, it was often felt that
Moshiach was going to come that second and the Rebbe would lead us to the Geulah.
A clear example of the above concept is found in the following Sicha from Shabbos Parshas VaYikrah 5745. In this Sicha, the Rebbe
compares the Bnei Yisroel who left Mitzrayim and our generation. Like the Yidden waited and anticipated the moment they would
be able to leave Mitzrayim, we too, cannot be satisfied by just learning Torah and doing mitzvos. We must actively await the Geulah
with bated breath and stand ready for the very second we will be able to leave Golus!

accomplish a Kiddush Hashem, He should just bring about the

Rashi explains that it is an expression of love, an expression which malochim use with one another. Hashem "called" Moshe - expressed His love to him โ€“ before speaking, instructing or commanding him. This calling of love to Moshe reflects the revealed connection between Hashem and the Yidden. The revelation of this connection was in the resting of the shechina in the Mishkan and then in the two Botei Hamikdosh. Although in Golus we donโ€™t have the revelation of Hashem's connection with us, His love for us hasnโ€™t decreased at all. It's only the revelation of this love (which we had in the Mishkan and in the Beis Hamikdosh) which we donโ€™t see, the love itself is eternal. If we wish to bring back this revelation of Hashem's love for us, then we must reveal our love for a fellow Jew. We need to invest personal effort for another person's benefit, in the same way that we would invest in our own needs. We must realize that as long as someone else has not left his inner Golus, we are in that same Golus too! Revealing our love for one another will cause and bring about Hashem's "calling" to Moshe - the revelation of his love for us - once again. Then the third Beis Hamidosh will be built and then there will be Techias Hameisim, may it happen immediately, Amen! ื•ึทื™ึดึผืงึฐืจึธื ืึถืœ ืžึนืฉืึถื” ื•ึทื™ึฐื“ึทื‘ึตึผืจ ื™ึฐื”ื•ึธื” ืึตืœึธื™ื• ืžึตืึนื”ึถืœ ืžื•ึนืขึตื“ ืœึตืืžึนืจ" )ื•ื™ืงืจื ื, ื( " )Based on Likkutei Sichos Vol. 27( ื›ืชื‘ ื™ื“ ืงื•ื“ืฉ At the end of a Sicha, in which the Rebbe spoke about the urgent need for Ahavas Yisroel, the Rebbe says, โ€œAnd through this [Ahavas Yisroel and Achdus Yisroel], we will merit โ€“ as mentioned earlier โ€“ a Bittul of the general Golus (since the reason will have been removed, etc.) And, immediately, HaShem will gather everyone and โ€œA great congregation (in the singular) will return thereโ€, to our Holy Land, to the Holy City of Yerushalayim โ€“ โ€œa city that binds togetherโ€, and to the Third Beis HaMikdosh โ€“ โ€œThe Mikdosh that Your hands workedโ€. All of his days, the Baal Shem Tov tried to recall the Niggun of Yaakov Avinu, but was unable. What was the story behind this longing? This is how he told it over to his students: โ€œI heard a truly soul-stirring and beautiful melody in my first Gilgul, as a sheep in Yaakov Avinuโ€™s flock. This was the Niggun that Yaakov would sing when he would shepherd his sheep; with which he would pour his soul before his Creator, until HaShem would heed his prayer and bless his sheep. โ€œI have a tradition that Yaakov sent his sons off to Mitzrayim with this Niggun, as well, as the Posuk says, โ€œVayomer Aleihem Yisroel Avihem Im Kein Eifoh Zos Asu Kichu Miโ€™Zimras Haโ€™Aretzโ€ (In Hebrew, โ€œMiโ€™Zimrasโ€ can also be read โ€œMizmeresโ€, โ€œthe song ofโ€).โ€ The Baal Shem Tov continued: Only once have I heard the Niggun since then, as I was passing a shepherd who was singing to his flock. When I heard it, I nearly reverted into a sheepโ€ฆโ€ When the Baal Shem Tov wanted to ascend to Eretz Yisroel, he said: โ€œIf I would merit the possibility to hear that Niggun one more time, and I learned it, I would never forget it. And when this Niggun would become known to all, Moshiach would comeโ€ฆโ€

Throughout the years, the Rebbe โ€œhot gekochtโ€ in the Rambam which says that a Yid has to be โ€œmachakeh lโ€™bioso.โ€ The Rebbe explained that it is to be understood literally: we are to actively await and do everything in our power to hasten the Geulah. The Rebbe infused Chassidim with these feelings and values. During farbrengens, it was often felt that Moshiach was going to come that second and the Rebbe would lead us to the Geulah. A clear example of the above concept is found in the following Sicha from Shabbos Parshas VaYikrah 5745. In this Sicha, the Rebbe compares the Bnei Yisroel who left Mitzrayim and our generation. Like the Yidden waited and anticipated the moment they would be able to leave Mitzrayim, we too, cannot be satisfied by just learning Torah and doing mitzvos. We must actively await the Geulah with bated breath and stand ready for the very second we will be able to leave Golus!
