MOSHIACH IN THE PARSHA
Every small child learns very quickly that, if he holds a cup
upside down, the contents will pour out. Based on this simple
premise, the Rambam, who, in his Mishnah Torah, gives a vivid
description of the Menorah, is a little hard to understand. As
he illustrates it, the mouths of all twenty-two cups that were
prophetically incorporated into the design face the ground, as
if spilling their contents. Why would this have been the case, as
it goes completely against logic?
Actually, the source in Nigleh for this odd visualization
of the holy Keli is not known, but the Rebbe tells us that the
reason according to Chassidus is clear. The purpose of the
Menorah, the Golden Lamp, is to give light not just to its
immediate surroundings, but to the whole world. This is similar
to the depiction in Sefer Melachim of the windows of the Beis
HaMikdash. The common practice of the time was that, due to
the lack of electrical lighting and the subsequent need to let as
much external light in, the windows of a house were fashioned
in such a way that the inner edge was wider than the outer
one. However, in the Beis HaMikdash, the opposite was true:
the outer edges were wider. The reason given in Chassidus for
this is that the holy Light of the Beis HaMikdash should shine
outward to the rest of the world.
This, the Rebbe says, is the same reason for the inverted cups
on the Menorah. Since the light of the Menorah was not meant
to be retained, but rather to be spread across the world, the
cups were carved upside down, to symbolize the Light spilling
out to sate the worldโ€™s thirst for holiness.

At the conclusion of the Farbrengen of Shabbos Parshas Chukkas-Bolok, 12 Tammuz
5722, the Rebbe discussed the special connection that Eliyahu Hanovi has to the final
Geulah, which is the reason why he will be the one to announce and inform Yidden of it.
The Rebbe went on to explain that, being that Pinchos is Eliyahu, the Geulah could have
come when Hashem made Pinchos into a Kohen and gave him his covenant of peace.
When the Manichim presented the Sicha to the Rebbe for editing, they concluded here,
but" inferring that the end of the Sicha is missing and the Rebbe - ื ืืจ" adding the word
should fill in the blank.
The Rebbe added the words:

Loose translation: they
did not merit so whatever
happened - happened, until all predestined dates passed, and speedily in our days Eliyahu
Hanovi, the bearer of good news will come, with the coming of Moshiach Tzidkeinu who
will redeem us in the 'true and complete Geulah'.
The great Tzaddik, Reb
Yisroel Ruzhiner, had a son,
called Reb Dovid Moshe. In
the year that Reb Yisroel passed
away, his son was very ill and
was unable to go to shul on Rosh
Hashana. He therefore had to
Daven in his holy fatherโ€™s room
at home.
He later told over that his
father came to him that Rosh
Hashana and said, โ€œToday,
I heard the Tekios from the
Shofar of Moshiach. The Shofar
is very large, it has a very loud
and powerful sound, and blows
extraordinary Tekios. However,
immediately after Rosh Hashana,
it suddenly disappeared.โ€

What does Parshas Vayakhel mean to us? What is the message of this Parsha for our time? It is very simple: just like
Moshe Rabbeinu gathered together the entire Jewish nation of his generation, so too the leader of our generation has gathered
together the entire nation and provided them with the ability and opportunity to bring the Geulah. So what remains for us to do?
Our leader spelled it out in three words: "Imdu Hochain Kulchem - all stand ready". These three words are three different directives.
''Stand": be strong. Stand firm.
"Ready": there are those who, before taking any action, call a meeting. At the meeting, it is decided to establish specific committees for
each branch of the project, who then sit down to their own meetings, where they reach the conclusion that no major decision can be made
without the presence of the entire staff. So all committees gather for a general staff meeting, where they make a firm resolution... TO MAKE
ANOTHER MEETING. Meetings were good for the previous generation. Now there is no time for meetings; we must be ready.
"All (together)": One person comes up with a brilliant plan, the other comes up with an altogether different idea, and, when a third party
is asked for his opinion, instead of presenting a compromise, he suggests a third opinion, which is in conflict with both of the previous
opinions! We must stand together! "Vayakhel Moshe". Unity!

When Moshiach comes and sets up a Sanhedrin, the first
thing that they will do, will be to set up Kiddush HaChodesh;
exactly the same Seder as it was by Yetziyas Mitzrayim.

Based on this simple premise, the Rambam, who, in his Mishnah Torah, gives a vivid description of the Menorah, is a little hard to understand. As he illustrates it, the mouths of all twenty-two cups that were prophetically incorporated into the design face the ground, as if spilling their contents. Why would this have been the case, as it goes completely against logic? Actually, the source in Nigleh for this odd visualization of the holy Keli is not known, but the Rebbe tells us that the reason according to Chassidus is clear. The purpose of the Menorah, the Golden Lamp, is to give light not just to its immediate surroundings, but to the whole world. This is similar to the depiction in Sefer Melachim of the windows of the Beis HaMikdash. The common practice of the time was that, due to the lack of electrical lighting and the subsequent need to let as much external light in, the windows of a house were fashioned in such a way that the inner edge was wider than the outer one. However, in the Beis HaMikdash, the opposite was true: the outer edges were wider. The reason given in Chassidus for this is that the holy Light of the Beis HaMikdash should shine outward to the rest of the world. This, the Rebbe says, is the same reason for the inverted cups on the Menorah. Since the light of the Menorah was not meant to be retained, but rather to be spread across the world, the cups were carved upside down, to symbolize the Light spilling out to sate the worldโ€™s thirst for holiness. ืฉืึฐืœึนืฉืึธื” ื’ึฐื‘ึดืขึดื™ื ืžึฐืฉืึปืงึธึผื“ึดื™ื ื‘ึทึผืงึธึผื ึถื” ื”ึธืึถื—ึธื“ ื›ึทึผืคึฐืชึผึนืจ ื•ึธืคึถืจึทื—" )ืฉืžื•ืช ืœื–, ื™ื˜( " )Based on Likkutei Sichos Vol. 21( ื›ืชื‘ ื™ื“ ืงื•ื“ืฉ At the conclusion of the Farbrengen of Shabbos Parshas Chukkas-Bolok, 12 Tammuz 5722, the Rebbe discussed the special connection that Eliyahu Hanovi has to the final Geulah, which is the reason why he will be the one to announce and inform Yidden of it. The Rebbe went on to explain that, being that Pinchos is Eliyahu, the Geulah could have come when Hashem made Pinchos into a Kohen and gave him his covenant of peace. When the Manichim presented the Sicha to the Rebbe for editing, they concluded here, but" inferring that the end of the Sicha is missing and the Rebbe - ื ืืจ" adding the word should fill in the blank. The Rebbe added the words: Loose translation: they did not merit so whatever happened - happened, until all predestined dates passed, and speedily in our days Eliyahu Hanovi, the bearer of good news will come, with the coming of Moshiach Tzidkeinu who will redeem us in the 'true and complete Geulah'. The great Tzaddik, Reb Yisroel Ruzhiner, had a son, called Reb Dovid Moshe. In the year that Reb Yisroel passed away, his son was very ill and was unable to go to shul on Rosh Hashana. He therefore had to Daven in his holy fatherโ€™s room at home. He later told over that his father came to him that Rosh Hashana and said, โ€œToday, I heard the Tekios from the Shofar of Moshiach. The Shofar is very large, it has a very loud and powerful sound, and blows extraordinary Tekios. However, immediately after Rosh Hashana, it suddenly disappeared.โ€ LIVING LESSONS

What is the message of this Parsha for our time? It is very simple: just like Moshe Rabbeinu gathered together the entire Jewish nation of his generation, so too the leader of our generation has gathered together the entire nation and provided them with the ability and opportunity to bring the Geulah. So what remains for us to do? Our leader spelled it out in three words: "Imdu Hochain Kulchem - all stand ready". These three words are three different directives. ''Stand": be strong. Stand firm. "Ready": there are those who, before taking any action, call a meeting. At the meeting, it is decided to establish specific committees for each branch of the project, who then sit down to their own meetings, where they reach the conclusion that no major decision can be made without the presence of the entire staff. So all committees gather for a general staff meeting, where they make a firm resolution... TO MAKE ANOTHER MEETING. Meetings were good for the previous generation. Now there is no time for meetings; we must be ready. "All (together)": One person comes up with a brilliant plan, the other comes up with an altogether different idea, and, when a third party is asked for his opinion, instead of presenting a compromise, he suggests a third opinion, which is in conflict with both of the previous opinions!
