The Kohen Gadolโs Eiphod was interwoven with many beautiful
materials; as the Pasuk goes on to enumerate, โโฆZahav, UโSecheiles,
VeโArgomon, VeโSolaโas Shoni, VeโSheish Moshzorโ.
The Rambam, in Hilchos Klei HaMikdosh, writes, โThis that
you find in Navi that the Kohanim would wear a tunic of linen โ
as it says in Shmuel, โEighty five men wore linen tunicsโ โ these
werenโt Kohanim Gedolim, because the Kohen Gadol didnโt wear
a linen tunic. Leviโim also wore them (linen tunics), since Shmuel
HaNavi was a Levi and it says regarding him, โa lad wearing a linen
tunicโ. In addition, these tunics were worn by the Neviโim and those
who were fit to have the Shechino rest on them to show that they
were near the level of the Kohen Gadol who, through his Eiphod
and the Choshen, received Ruach HaKodesh.โ
In this Halocho, the Rambam clarifies the difference between
the special Eiphod of the Kohen Gadol and the linen tunics of the
men who merited that the Shechino should rest on them:
On one hand, the Rambam concludes that the point that the
Neviโim wore a similar tunic to the Kohen Gadolโs; this tells us
"
that, on a certain level, they had reached the Maโaleh of the Kohen
Gadol.
In regard to the time of Geulah, it says in Sefer Yoel, โI will pour
My Ruach on all flesh, VeโNibโu Beneichem UโVenoseihemโ. In that
time, everyone will have Nevuah, even small children.
Now, according to the Halocho in Rambam โ that every Navi
wears a linen tunic to show that he is such โ when Moshiach
comes, everyone will wear linen tunics.
On the other hand, if everyone will wear a tunic, because
everyone will be a Navi, then the entire purpose for wearing them
will disappear, since everyone will be wearing them!
However, we cannot make a definite conclusion as to whether
tunics will be worn in the time of Geulah, since the Rambam
himself also writes that, โthere are many levels of Neviโimโฆsome
higher than others.โ Therefore, there is room to say that there will
still be a purpose to wearing linen tunics: to distinguish between a
higher level Navi and one of a lower caliber.

In the Sicha of Beis Nissan 5748, the Rebbe said, that the Frierdiker
Rebbe in his time Paskened that all of our Avodah in Golus has been
completed, and all that is left to be done is to โpolish the buttons.โ
And now, since we are standing many years after doing this Avodah,
this too must have been finished. Especially since one cannot polish
buttons excessively, because this diminishes them and ruins their
beauty.
In the following Ksav Yad, the Rebbe stresses that the Frierdiker
Rebbeโs words were said then, in his period. Also there is a stress on
the point that one cannot over polish the buttons, since this causes
them to not only become worn out, but furthermore, that they become
diminished.

Once, when the holy Reb Tzvi Elimelech of Blozhov was
sitting in his Sukkah with some of his great Chassidim,
he said, โOy! It is a most wondrous thing! Chazal say that
Moshiach will not come on Shabbos or Yom Tov. This is
incredible. Klal Yisroel waits for Moshiach to free them from
their suffering and Chazal say that there are days on which he
will not comeโฆโ
He thought for a while before straightening and saying, โ The
truth is that Moshiach is smart. Imagine if Moshiach were to
come at this very moment. We are sitting in the Sukkah, the
holy Ushpizin, Avrohom, Yitzchok, Yaakov, Moshe, Aharon,
Dovid, and Shlomo, are with us. Ah! When could you possibly
feel more Kedushah?! It is Mamosh a taste of Gan Edenโฆ
โNu. If someone would come right now and tell us that
Moshiach is standing outside, we would tell him, โWeโre good
with the Kedushah that weโve gotโ and we would choose to stay
in the fine company of the Ushpizin!
โMoshiach knows this; that is why he will not come at these
timesโฆโ

"Kol Yemei Chayecha": Every Moment of our Lives.
In the Hagadah we read: "Rabi Elozar ben Azaryah omer: Kol yemei chayecha l'hovi l'Yemos HaMoshiach". The Fridiker
Rebbe explained this on a deeper level to mean that "kol Yemei chayecha"-all the days of one's life must be given over "l'hovi
l'Yemos HaMoshiach" to bringing the days of Moshiach. The Rebbe explains that this means that a Yid may not sit idly and wait
for Moshiach to come rather he must do ALL in his power to bring Moshiach. More so the Rebbe explains that oneโs involvement
in bringing Moshiach cannot be limited to the time when he is involved in doing pe'ulos with the intent of bringing Moshiach; rather a
Yid must be constantly doing things in this direction 24 hours a day, literally every second, this being his sole goal and purpose in
life ("chayecha").
The sicha before us clearly illustrates this point, in it the Rebbe tells us that even when a Yid goes to sleep he must make sure
that every part of his hanhogah is in a way that will be fitting to greeting Moshiach Tzidkeinu, who he just might see standing in
his very room. The Rebbe forewarns us that the "kluginker" might try to convince us to give up on trying to seriously prepare for
Moshiach and tells us that we have the "koichos" needed to be ready for the moment that Yidden hoped and waited for for hundreds
of generations.
